Quadruped animals switch gait patterns with walking frequency for energy-effective walking. This is similar to the phenomenon that excited natural vibration modes are switched with vibration frequency in a MDOFs system. Therefore, in this paper, it is assumed that quadruped animals walk by using the natural vibration of their own musculoskeletal systems. In the simplest rigid-body-link model consisting of a body and four legs, there are the natural vibration modes similar to the gait patterns (trot, pace and gallop) of quadruped animals. However, all the natural frequencies in the model exist near the natural frequency in the free leg, and are accordingly different from the walking frequencies of actual quadruped animals. In the rigid-body-link model added a scapular and a pelvic on observations of quadrupted walking, the natural frequency of the gallop mode corresponding to high speed walking raises greatly and approaches the walking frequency. If the physical characteristics of horses were applied to the rigid-body-link model added the leg's joints, the natural vibration in the model is close to the gait patterns of horses.

The Food Safety Commission (FSC) of Japan, established in July 2003, has its own initiative to conduct risk assessments on food stuffs known as “self-tasking assessment”. Within this framework, the FSC decided to conduct a risk assessment of beef and beef offal imported into Japan from countries with no previous BSE reports; thus, a methodology was formed to suit to this purpose. This methodology was partly based on the previous assessments of Japanese domestic beef and beef imported from U.S.A./Canada, but some modifications were made. Other organizations’ assessment methods, such as those used for BSE status assessment in live cattle by the OIE and EFSA’s GBR, were also consulted. In this review, the authors introduce this alternative methodology, which reflects (1) the risk of live cattle in the assessed country including temporal risks of BSE invasion and domestic propagation, with the assessment results verified by surveillance data, and (2) the risk of beef and beef offal consisting of cumulative BSE risk by types of slaughtering and meat production processes implemented and the status of mechanically recovered meat production. Other possible influencing factors such as atypical BSE cases were also reviewed. The key characteristic of the current assessment is a combination of the time-sequential risk level of live cattle and qualitative risk level of meat production at present in an assessed country.

In this paper, we propose a task estimation method based on multiple subspaces extracted from multi-modal information of image objects in visual scenes and spoken words in dialog appeared in the same task. The multiple subspaces are obtained by using latent semantic analysis (LSA). In the proposed method, a task vector composed of spoken words and the frequencies of image-object appearances are extracted first, and then similarities among the input task vector and reference sub-spaces of different tasks are compared. Experiments are conducted on the identification of game tasks. Experimental results show that the proposed method with multi-modal information outperforms the method in which only single modality of image or spoken dialog is applied. Moreover, the proposed method achieved accurate performance even if less spoken dialog is applied.

2009年7月22日に日本で皆既日食という天体ショーが起こり,様々な組織が皆既日食映像の伝送実験や多彩なイベントを行った.4K超高精細映像の伝送方法について共同研究を行っている朝日放送株式会社(ABC)では大規模なIPネットワークを使用した全天4K超高精細映像の伝送実験を企画し,奈良先端科学技術大学院大学(NAIST)も参加協力を行った.この伝送実験では,世界初の試みとして,皆既日食が起こっている場所の臨場感を全天4K超高精細映像を使用して可能な限り伝送するという目的で行われ,無事に実験の目的を達成することができた.本論文では,NAIST独自で非圧縮全天4K超高精細映像のLayer 3ネットワークを用いた伝送実証実験を行い,有効な伝送手法として実験を成功させたことについて報告し考察を与えることとする.

本論文では,Web ページに記載されている情報の信頼性(Web ページの信頼性)を,そのWeb ページやそこに含まれているテキストのさまざまな特徴から推定する手法を提案する.提案手法は,信頼性判断に影響を与える各特徴が推定対象のWeb ページで成立しているかどうかを自動判定する処理と,成立すると判断された特徴からそのWeb ページの信頼度を求める処理から構成される.どのような特徴が信頼性判断に影響を及ぼすかについては,アンケート調査を実施して,68個の特徴とWeb ページの信頼性への影響度を得た.本研究では,それらのうちの40個の特徴(信頼性の尺度)の成立を自動判定する手法を開発した.また信頼度を計算する手法として,影響度の総和を取る方法とSupport Vector Machineを用いた機械学習により信頼度を求める手法を開発した.そして,評価実験を通じて,信頼性の尺度の判断処理の有効性と信頼できる/信頼できないページの二値分類に対する提案手法の有効性を確認した.

1. 年令の識別についてこの地域における幼鳥成鳥の識別は季節的に分けるのが適当であると考える。1) 4月~7月 腮腺の羽色のちがいと,嘴色のちがいを標識として識別できる。2) 8月~9月 成鳥の嘴色は変化して幼鳥と同色になるので標識としてつ(170)1962 農村地帯に於けるスズメ群の生態 171かえない。腮腺は旧羽の残存するかぎり標識としてつかえるが以後は脱羽のため適当な標識がないから8月下旬から9月下旬の調査は除外したほうがよいと考える。3) 換羽の終った幼鳥は若鳥として区別したい。また嘴色全黒色となれば成鳥としたい。4)10月~翌年3月 若鳥と成鳥の識別は再び嘴色のちがいを標識として識別できる。2. 性の識別について1) 野外観察において群全体を区別する標識はないと考える。生殖腺による識別は正確であるが新鮮な個体によらねばならない。

This paper deals with H∞ filter-based short-term electric load prediction considering characteristics of load curve. We propose a predictive method to forecast a future electric load demand for 36 hours from 0 PM, and then evaluate the peak and bottom of load curves in the next day. We propose a load model, estimates unknown parameters of model via H∞ filter using the separated data from holiday and weekday, a same pattern of the previous data have been chosen and assigned to parameters for the model. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed prediction methodology.

We report a case of glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC) arising in the mandible. The patient was a 55-year-old woman who presented with a painful swelling of the right premolar region of the mandible.Roentgenographic examination revealed a multilocular radiolucent lesion from the right first molar across themidline to the left second premolar region. The clinical diagnosis was a mandibular cyst. Enucleation of the cystand extraction of the teeth were performed with the patient under general anesthesia. Histological examinationshowed a multicystic lesion partially lined by non-keratinized epithelium with focal plaque-like thickening. Thesurface epithelium included eosinophilic cuboidal and ciliated cells. Cyst-like spaces and glandular structureswere also observed within the epithelium. Epithelial islands were also seen in connective tissue of the cyst.Immunohistochemically, epithelial cells were strongly positive for cytokeratin (CK) 13 and 19, but almost negativefor CK18. The histological diagnosis was GOC. The postoperative course was satisfactory, and no recurrencehas been noted 4 years 6 months after the operation.

Glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC), first described in 1988 by Gardner et. al, is a comparatively rare jawbone cyst of odontogenic origin, which shares some features with both botryroid odontogenic cysts and mucous-producing salivary gland tumors. Although GOC has a high rate of recurrence, cases of recurrence have not been reported in the Japanese literature.This paper describes a case of GOC arising in the mandible of a 58-year-old man. The cyst recurred 12 years after primary treatment. Diagnosis and treatment of the lesion are discussed.

We successfully determined the three-dimensional structure of agar gel droplets on multipillared surfaces. The contact angle, length of penetration of the agar gel into the interspace between pillars, and curvature of the bottom surface of the droplets were changed with respect to changes in the volume and concentration of the aqueous agar solution and the distance between the surface-bound pillars.

We observed the condensation of water and ethanol on a hydrophobic polymer film coated with fluorinated silicone particles and identified five states: the circular droplet, ellipsoidal droplet, network, huge droplet, and film states. The shape of the condensed droplets changed with the particle density and the wettability of the particles by the liquid.
