Microbiomes play a pivotal role in mediating essential ecosystem functions, yet understanding the relationship between microbiome composition and ecosystem function rates remains challenging. Directly manipulating microbiome composition proves difficult due to the impracticality of identifying key functional taxa beforehand, and microbiomes’ strong covariance with environmental drivers of function. To tackle these challenges, we conducted artificial selection on whole soil ecosystems over multiple generations to enrich microbial communities exhibiting high CH4 oxidation rates. This biologically “agnostic” approach minimizes assumptions about crucial taxa and weakens microbe-environment covariance through repeated passaging with fresh substrate. In response to selection, we observed a significant 50.7% increase in CH4 oxidation rate per passage compared to a randomly selected control. While 31.5% of the CH4 oxidation rate variation in soils could be attributed to microbiome variation (not statistically significant), the selection did not enrich for known CH4 oxidizers. Instead, 12 families not previously associated with CH4 oxidation, such as Fimbriimonadaceae, Cytophagaceae, and Diplorickettsiaceae, were enriched. This finding challenges the conventional assumption that ecosystem function rates are limited by the final step in the microbial pathway. Our study underscores that microbiome composition can independently influence ecosystem function rates, regardless of the environment, and that such rates may not always be constrained by the final pathway step. Consequently, directly manipulating microbiome composition without altering the environment emerges as a viable strategy for managing ecosystem functions.

A sand block was developed for direct machining with a numerical contorol machine. The sand block has a cutting resistance of 30N which is as small as 1/300 that of steel block. Especially, sand blocks made of fine spherical particles have better dischargeability and dimensional accuracy, thus providing excellent machinability. Direct machining of a sand block reduces molding time. For example, it takes merely four hours to complete the mold for the cylinder head cover of an automobile engine.

In the inner ear, hair cells detect not only sounds but also acceleration with their mechanotransduction apparatus. In this study, I demonstrate that transduction and adaptation require phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) for normal kinetics. PIP2 has a striking distribution in hair cells, being excluded from the basal region of hair bundles and apical surfaces of bullfrog saccular hair cells. The depletion of PIP2 by the inhibition of phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase or sequestration by an aminoglycoside reduces the rate of fast and slow adaptation, and also causes a loss in transduction currents, suggesting that PIP2 plays an essential role in hair cell adaptation and transduction.

外歯瘻は歯根部の慢性化膿性炎症の排泄路が顔面や頸部の皮膚に瘻孔を形成する疾患である。歯の症状がなく, しかも歯から離れた部位に病変が生じるため, 歯科領域の疾患であるにもかかわらず, 患者の60%以上が最初に皮膚科, 外科など医科各科を訪れる。そして本疾患が念頭にないための誤診・誤治療の結果として, 繰り返しの切除, 生検や抗生剤の長期使用など患者に不必要な負担を強いている症例が依然として報告されている。本症は一般の皮膚疾患と異なり, 永久治癒を得るためには切除や抗生物質は無効であり, 抜歯を含む原因歯の適切な処理が必須である。今回, 病期の異なる外歯瘻の3例について, 瘻管が顎骨を穿孔した後に生じる軟部組織炎から蜂窩織炎, 膿瘍そして皮膚瘻孔と進展する状態を臨床的に観察した。そして, これら経過途中の病変を他の皮膚疾患と区別するために外歯瘻性軟部組織炎, 外歯瘻性蜂窩織炎などの用語を使用することを提案した。

全身性強皮症は間質性肺炎などを主徴とする自己免疫疾患であり、有効な治療に乏しい難治性の疾患である。脂肪由来間葉系幹細胞 (ASCs) は脂肪組織に豊富に存在し、低侵襲かつ容易に採取可能な幹細胞である。ASCsは抗炎症性作用と免疫抑制作用を示すため、免疫疾患に対する細胞療法として有用である。血液抗凝固薬の低分子量ヘパリン (LMWH) をASCsに作用させると、抗炎症作用がより高くなる。本研究は、「LMWHで活性化させたASCs」を病態モデルマウスに投与し、LMWH活性化ASCsの免疫抑制・組織再生効果を確かめる。

本研究は,タジキスタンにおける親の出稼ぎ労働移民が子供の教育投資に与える効果を,実証的に分析する.労働移民は所得向上を通して教育投資を促進しうる一方,教育投資を抑制する様々な副次的な効果も持ちうる.分析結果は,移民の内生性を考慮した上で,親の労働移民が女子の後期中等教育就学を抑制する一方,男子に対しては影響を持たないことを示した.このことは労働移民送出が教育の男女間格差を広げていることを示唆する.

伊豆沼の砂泥サンプルを実験室内で静置したところヒカリモが発生した.光学顕微鏡による形態観察の結果,黄金色藻特有の色調をもった浮遊相細胞と,長短2本の鞭毛をもつ遊泳細胞を確認した.遊泳細胞を単離培養し,詳細な形態観察を行なった結果,本藻は葉緑体に半埋没するピレノイドをもっていた.これらの形態的特徴はChromophyton vischeri (=Ochromonas vischeri ) と一致した.単離培養株から18SrRNA遺伝子の塩基配列を決定し,既報配列と比較したところ,C. cf. rosanofii CCMP2751株と99.9%の相同性を持つことがわかった.自然状態での発生ではないものの,伊豆沼は現在報告されているヒカリモの発生地の中では最北限となる.

Es ist lange gesagt worden, daß es viele Aporien hinsichtlich der Konstitutionstheorie des alter ego in der Phänomenologie Husserls gibt. Viele Philosophen warfen ihm vor, daß er mit seiner transzendentalen Methode das transzendentale alter ego durchaus nicht fassen kann und was er dort beschrieb, nur die Art ist, wie das transzendentale ego in sich selbst das reale bzw. psychophysische alter ego als intentionales Objekt d. h. Noema konstituiert. Ich möchte hier behaupten, daß ein besondere Zusammenhang zwischen den zwei verschiedenen Begriffen von alter ego, welchen ich in dieser Abhandlung als selbstbezügliche Zirkelstruktur bezeichnet, in der Konstitutionslehre der Anderen eine große Rolle spielt. Das psychophysische alter ego, dessen konstitutive Analysen in der Tat durch die fünfte Meditation von Husserl durchgeführt wurden, kann als Leitfaden fungieren, um das transzendentale alter ego zu erfassen. Denn das erstere ist identisch mit dem letzteren, insofern es den Bewußtseinsgehalt der beiden betrifft. Während das alter ego als psychophysischer Mensch Einheit von Leib und Seele ist, ist das transzendentale alter ego nichts anderes als reines Bewußtsein ohne Leib d. i. Körper. Was Husserl in der fünften Meditation klarer und deutlicher erklären sollte, ist daß man das psychophysische alter ego, indem ihm alle Leiblichkeiten und Realitäten durch und durch entrissen werden, zum anderen reinen Bewußtsein reduzieren muß. Die Konstitution des transzendentalen alter ego muß, meiner Meinung nach, zu einer höheren Dimension als intentionale Konstitution der materialen Natur gehören. Zugleich muß sie auch aus zwei verschiedenen Verfahren der Konstitution des realen alter ego und seiner Reduktion zum reinen d. i.transzendentalen alter ego bestehen. Dieses rechtfertigt ferner die konstituierende Möglichkeit des transzendentalen alter ego und die wechselseitige Konstitution zwischen vielen transzendentalen Ichs. Die transzendentale Intersubjektivität und Gemeinschaft stellen sich dadurch heraus, daß viele Subjekte d. h. Monaden sich einander konstituieren, sich aufeinander intentional beziehen und sich miteinander decken. Die Subjekt-Objekt-Struktur in der transzendentalen Theorie ist nur einseitig und beschränkt. Deswegen soll die transzendentale Methode sich mit Hilfe der Annahme der Intersubjektivitätstheorie d. h. Monadologie zur noch komplizierten und überlegenen Theorie verwandeln.

本研究では,高齢者福祉における介護の質の向上を目指した取り組みについて制度の側面から記録を通した質の向上に向けた考え方について研究を行った.本研究で検討した介護福祉士の質と,介護福祉士が残す記録との関係から,介護福祉士が残す記録によって質の向上を図ることができることが分かった.しかし,介護の質を評価するには,先に述べた評価手法や評価方法だけでは,現在の介護に即した評価ができているとは言い難く,さらに,介護の提供内容を正確に評価するといった手法も定まっていない.介護を受けている利用者にとってどのような介護に対して安心して自分の生活を任せることができるのか,現在行っている利用者満足度調査といった取り組みに加えて利用者に確認する仕組みを新たに検討作成していく必要があるといった示唆を得た.

The grain size effects on the hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility of pure Ni and Ni-20Cr alloy were investigated. The hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility was evaluated by tensile testing under electrochemical hydrogen charging. Relative elongation, defined as the elongation under hydrogen charging divided by elongation in air, increased with increasing grain size in pure Ni (the grain size was in the range of 11-22 µm). In contrast, the relative elongation of Ni-20Cr alloy increased with decreasing grain size from 13 to 1.8 µm. Correspondingly, intergranular fracture was suppressed by grain coarsening in pure Ni and grain refinement in the Ni-20Cr alloy. In addition, the intergranular fracture surface in pure Ni showed curved slip lines, and in the Ni-20Cr alloy showed straight line marks. These fractographic features imply that the mechanisms of the hydrogen-assisted intergranular crack growth were different in pure Ni and Ni-20Cr alloy and this can be attributed to the difference in stacking fault energy.
