涙が減少して目が乾くドライアイと同様, 最近口の中が乾くドライマウス (口腔乾燥症) の症状を訴える人が増えている.ドライアイ研究会によれば, 日本に約800万人存在するとされるドライアイ患者の多くがドライマウスに起因する症状を呈するとの報告や, 欧米の疫学調査では人口の約25%が本症に罹患しているとの結果から算出すると, 本邦では3, 000万人の潜在患者がいることになる.しかしながら, 本症の受け皿となる医療機関は少なく, 患者さんはどの科を受診すれば良いのか分からないのが現状である.本来, ドライマウスは歯科医療従事者が適切な処置を行うことによって症状を緩和し, 進行を止めることができる.本稿では唾液の役割とドライマウスの原因について概説する.

多様で,ときに対立する価値観や世界観をもつ人々が共に戴くことができ,自由な共生の媒介となりうる公正な制度のあり方を,私たちはどのようにして探求できるだろうか.ジョン・ロールズの政治的リベラリズムの中心概念である公共的理性は,この問いへの有力な回答である.公共的理性は,社会の基本的諸制度のあり方をめぐる議論が市民にとっての公共的価値の観点からなされることを求める.このような観点から支持すべきものとして人々が支持しうる制度が,真に公共性を備えた制度だと考えるのである.本稿は,ロールズによる公共的理性への呼びかけに応じる試みの一環として,基本的社会制度のなかで重要な位置を占める家族制度,なかでも婚姻制度に焦点を当て,オルタナティブな婚姻形態の制度的包摂にかんする公共的理性を提案する.

White breads with Yudane dough (Yudane bread) were made from commercial hard flour by the no first fermentation method. Yudane dough was prepared by mixing boiling water and flour at a ratio of 1:1. The dough at 20 and 40% (w/w, flour base) was added to the total bread dough. In the Yudane bread making method, an extended final proof, lower dough gas retention and gassing power, as well as specific loaf volume were observed compared to conventional bread making (control) without Yudane dough. Also, the moisture content of the Yudane breads increased with increasing water absorption for bread making. The total and reducing saccharide and maltose contents in the water-soluble fraction of Yudane bread also increased with the volume of added Yudane dough. The Yudane breads were very soft just after baking, and the staling (temporal changes in hardness) and starch retrogradation of the breads were somewhat reduced compared to the control. Further, the breads showed generally larger cohesiveness, i.e., the index of bread elasticity. Kinetic analysis indicated reduced bread staling and starch retrogradation rates compared to control. The data showed that the slow staling and unique texture of the Yudane breads were mainly due to the high moisture content, saccharide contents, and flour amylases-modification of swollen and gelatinized starch in the breads, which was related to the higher water absorption and starch swelling and gelatinization levels of the added Yudane dough.

This study revealed that most maladjustment behaviors had avoidance mechanism. These behaviors included anxiety disorders, somatoform disorders, dissociative disorders, alcohol dependence, social withdrawal, school refusal and the like. In the functional analysis of this article, we argued that the forms of psychopathology were viewed as unhealthy methods of avoidance. The treatments of avoidance-based maladjustment behaviors (symptoms) expose clients to previously avoided private experiences.

膠原病・自己免疫性リウマチ疾患はしばしば多臓器を侵し,皮膚にも多彩な皮膚病変をもたらす.皮膚病変には疾患と1:1に対応をする特異性の高いものと,疾患特異性は低いが膠原病を疑うべきものとがある.本稿では,非特異的皮膚病変とエリテマトーデス,皮膚筋炎(DM),強皮症(SSc)を中心に頻度の高い特異的皮膚病変を概説した.皮膚病変を知ることが早期診断の一助となるはずである.

This study evaluated the effect of temporary sealing materials and cleaning protocols on the bond strength of resin cement applied to dentin using resin-coating technique. Scotchbond Universal Adhesive and Filtek Supreme Ultra Flowable were applied to bovine dentin. Forty-five specimens were divided into the following three groups according to the temporary sealing materials: Cav-: CAVITON EX, Vas-: COCOA BUTTER and FIT SEAL, and Sep-: Washable SEP and FIT SEAL. Each material was placed on resin-coated dentin. After 1-week water storage, one of the following three cleaning protocols was performed: -WA: washed with water, -BR: brushed with PRESSAGE, and -AF: cleaned with AIR-FLOW. Microtensile bond strength test and EDS analysis were conducted. Irrespective of the cleaning protocol used, Washable SEP demonstrated less residual debris on resin-coated dentin, resulting in high bond strength. Regardless of the temporary sealing material applied, AIR-FLOW demonstrated less residual debris, resulting in high bond strength.

Introduction of the Ilizarov external fixator has bought about a treatment revolution to resolve such orthopaedic problems as fracture fixation, limb lengthening, deformity correction, joint mobilization, and reconstruction of bone and soft tissue defects. One of the advantages of the Ilizarov method is its versatility, that is, different orthopaedic problems can be simultaneously treated with the Ilizarov method. In this study, we introduce a method of deformity correction of the lower extremities and reconstruction of skeletal defects using the Ilizarov external fixator. Deformity correction with the Ilizarov hinge system is very useful to realign the mechanical axis of the lower extremities. We also introduce a new concept of high tibial osteotomy called“mechanical axis lateralization”for genu varum resulting from unicompartmental medial osteoarthrosis, Blount's disease and so on. In addition, the Ilizarov method made it possible to successfully reconstruct extensive bone defects combined with or without intramedullary nailing. The Ilizarov method will become more widely used and advantageous if the treatment period is shortened.

We carried out a temporary seismic observation using 4 ocean bottom seismographs in and around the Aira caldera to obtain the precise hypocenter distribution, especially in the Wakamiko caldera. During the observation period from July to September 2020, we observed two short-time seismic swarms that occurred inside the Wakamiko caldera and revealed the precise distribution of these hypocenters and the focal mechanism solution. In contrast to our results, the JMA unified hypocenters of the two swarms are widely distributed in the western region outside the Wakamiko caldera. This difference in the hypocenter distributions insists that the seismic observation in the sea area around the Wakamiko caldera is required to reveal the precise seismic activity in the caldera.

After the July 2019-June 2020 small-scale magmatic activity, surface unrest of the Nakadake first crater, which is located at the center of Aso caldera, SW Japan, had been mostly calm for fourteen months, and a lake had reformed inside the crater by late-August 2021. An eruption producing ballistic clasts and a tephra fall deposit occurred within the first crater of Nakadake at 04:44 on October 14, 2021. A large number of ballistic clasts were distributed from the west-northwestern rim of the Nakadake first crater to the southern rim of the second crater, with ballistics also reaching at least 450 m south of the center of the first crater. The largest clast (70×32×31 cm) was ejected a distance of 300 m SW of the center of the first crater. Several impact craters, which were<1 m in diameter, were observed in the surface ash layer at the crater rim. The ballistic clasts were dominated by basaltic-andesite lithic fragments of lavas and pyroclastic rocks, and were not thought to derive from a newly ascending magma. The tephra fall deposit was distributed to the southeast, extending approximately 30 km from the source crater. At the crater rim, the fall deposits were composed mainly of sand-size particles with small amounts of lapilli (<17 %), and were aggregated at sizes of a few mm to 1 cm. The aggregated muddy ash (a few millimeters in diameter) adhered to plant leaves and the surface of man-made constructions in the southeastern part of Aso caldera (4-10 km), indicating that the rising plume contained large amounts of condensed water vapor. Based on the isomass map, the total discharged mass of the October 14, 2021 eruption was calculated at approximately 2500 tons. Gray to white lithic grains (40-50 %) were dominant in the tephra deposits (0.125-0.25 mm fraction), while black to brown glass shards (8-16 %) were also observed. Although a very small proportion of glass particles appeared to be fresh, most of glass shards showed varying degrees of alteration based on microscope observation and electron micro-probe analysis. These combined lines of evidence suggest that the October 14, 2021 eruption of the first crater at Nakadake was probably a purely phreatic eruption.

The aim of this study was to clarify the relationship between maximal running speed, step frequency, step frequency index, step length, step length index, foot contact time, and aerial time during sprinting in elementary school children. The participants were 335 girls and 352 boys (age: 6 to 12 years) who ran a 50-m sprint race as part of their school fitness test in 2013. Their maximal running speed, step frequency, and step length were calculated from images captured by video cameras (60 frames/second) located at the sides of the lanes. Contact time and aerial time over the distance from 20 m to 30 m were calculated from images captured by high-speed video cameras (300 frames/second) located at the side of the 25-m mark for the lanes. Two-way ANOVA with the Games-Howell procedure was used to test differences among all grades. Two-way ANCOVA was used to test interaction and the main effect of gender and grade on maximal running speed. The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (r) and partial correlation coefficient (pr) were calculated to analyze the relationship between maximal running speed, step frequency, stride length, foot contact time, and aerial time. Step length (which was strongly correlated with maximal running speed) showed a strong partial correlation (controlled for age) with maximal running speed. Therefore, it is suggested that step length contributes to not only the increase in running speed with growth, but also individual differences in running speed among the children at the same age. There were slight tendencies for step frequency and foot contact time to increase with growth. However, these factors showed a significant partial correlation (controlled for age) with running speed. Therefore, it was suggested that these factors contribute to individual differences in running speed. The absence of a negative impact of a shorter foot contact time on stride length suggests that the running performance of school children could be improved by decreasing their foot contact time. In order to establish effective methods for augmenting the development of running ability in children, it will be necessary to consider foot contact time and aerial time in addition to step frequency and step length.

脊椎動物の視覚を担うロドプシンは光で活性状態を生成する.しかし,この状態から光でも熱でも直接元の不活性状態に戻ることができない.本稿では,ロドプシンが「光活性化」に特化したメカニズムに迫るため,活性状態から光でも熱でも元の不活性状態に戻る変異体を1アミノ酸置換で作製したので紹介する.

This study aims to survey how and what degree the audiences are involved in the performance of a professional sport team, Sakai Blazers that plays in the 1st division men's volleyball league in Japan. We had a questionnaire research to the match audiences at Kanaoka Park Gymnasium in Sakai city on the 15th January 2012. According to the survey's data, people's long-term residence in Sakai city promotes their supportive attitude to Sakai Blazers. Reversely, the supporting behavior to Sakai Blazers boosts the feeling of heimat to their hometown among its fans.
