Since cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) portends adverse outcomes, early diagnosis of active inflammation in CS is essential for therapeutic and prognostic advantages. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) has been used for the clinical evaluation of active inflammatory lesions in CS. While myocardium can utilize both free fatty acids and glucose as the substrates of energy metabolism, the physiological myocardial 18F-FDG uptake often makes it difficult to detect the pathological 18F-FDG accumulation. Prolonged fasting and low-carbohydrate diet are most commonly used for suppressing physiological myocardial 18F-FDG uptake, and moreover unfractionated heparin administration is sometimes considered. Sufficient preparation allows for the establishment of increased 18F-FDG uptake in myocardium as active inflammatory lesions. Typical patterns of pathological 18F-FDG accumulation in myocardium are “focal” and “focal-on-diffuse” and these are often corresponded with myocardial perfusion abnormality. In case with inconclusive 18F-FDG uptake, the simultaneous interpretation with myocardial perfusion imaging is useful and helpful to evaluate clinically significant 18F-FDG uptake in CS.

結核(tuberculosis:TB)は,マイコバクテリウム属結核菌群(Mycobacterium tuberculosis, M. bovis 等)に起因する最も古くから知られる感染症の1つである.また,ヒトの単一感染性菌による全世界の死因第1位であり続けており,現在も世界規模の主要な公衆衛生問題である.結核予防に用いられるカルメット-ゲラン桿菌(Bacillus Calmette-Guerin:BCG)ワクチンはM. bovis を長期継代培養することで弱毒化した生ワクチンであり,実用化されている唯一の結核予防ワクチンである.BCGワクチンの効果は,乳幼児結核,結核性髄膜炎や粟粒結核など重症結核において認められるが,成人の肺結核に対しては部分的であることから,新規ワクチンの開発が望まれている.本稿では,アカゲザルサイトメガロウイルス(RhCMV)ベクターワクチンを用いた結核菌感染研究において,長期間のワクチン効果を認めたHansenらの報告を紹介する.なお,本稿は下記の文献に基づいて,その研究成果を紹介するものである.1) Hansen S. 過去10万年にわたるグリーンランド氷床コアの解析によると、最終氷期の間に起こった数百年程度規模の突然かつ急激な大気中メタン濃度の上昇が、海底下のメタンハイドレートの急激な分解によるものであるとの仮説がある。本研究では、過去に生じた大規模な気候変動とメタンハイドレート崩壊の関連性を明らかにするため、現在メタンハイドレートが存在していることが明らかになっている下北半島沖で採取された柱状堆積物コアについて解析を行った。本研究では、堆積物試料に保存されている有孔虫化石・様々なバイオマーカーについて分析を行った。その結果、海底下からのメタン放出によると示唆される浮遊性および底生有孔虫の炭素同位体比の異常値が見つかった。さらに同層準からは、メタン酸化細菌由来のバイオマーカーの炭素安定同位体比の異常も発見された。最大のメタンシグナルは、最終氷河期の25600年前の温暖期に相当することがわかった。

1991年台風19号は、9月27日夕方、長崎県佐世保市に上陸し28日午後3時、オホーツク海で、温帯低気圧にかわった。この間、各地の観測史における最大風速記録を更新して、その史上まれにみる強風で各地に大被害をもたらした。この報告は、広大な被災地のうち、特に大都市広島市に的を絞り、かつ主として電力途絶による都市機能支障・市民生活への影響さらには組織と住民の対応、電力を中心とする応急復旧の実態の調査に関するものである。電力はライフラインの要である。台風による直接被害とその後の塩害による停電、それに伴う断水、電話支障などが3日以上継続した地域もあった。一般的にいえることだが、大地震を別とすれば、長期停電・断水など我国では起こりえないと誰もが考えている。建物とその諸設備、その他の都市施設はそれを前提として造られ、維持されている。それゆえ、電力途絶時に広島市で起こった正に末端に至るまでの都市機能・生活支障の実体は大きな教訓を私達に与えてくれる。この報告では、それらの事実をできるだけ伝え、東京大都市圏など大都市の脆弱性を多分野の防災研究者・実務者と共に考え、日頃の備えの重要性を広く呼びかけたい。This report shows the lifeline system interaction and its resulting socio-economic effects occurred in Hiroshima City during the large-scale suspensions of supply of electricity caused by the Typhoon 19 of 1991 and sequential injury from salt. On September 27,strong south winds struck the city and began the power failure for about 390,000 household (≒99% of customers),which lasted for the next five days for some customers. This is the first large-scale lifeline functional disruption occurred in those urban regions (cities) in Japan which have more than a population of one million after the World War II. Based on the facts reported five newspapers between Septemer 28 and November 28,we decided the way how we shall carry the on-the-spot survey. The Survey was executed in it was obtaining the data and hearing from the various public organizations including 4 hospitals,which implemented their emergency operations during pre-,and post-typhoon. Also,we carried on the interviews some private sectors and residents on their responses to this disaster. The electric power company had little prepared itself for the damage by injury from salt. Therefore suspension of supply of electricity continued long time as mentioned above. Power disruption also created vast and profound effects on the various kinds of urban and daily life function: the suspensions of water supply,heavy congestions of traffic and communication systems and so on. It emphasized the various kinds of vulnerability of the society depending on high technology.

We have established the torsion pin test method with tension to evaluate shearing delamination strength of thermal sprayed coating under tension-torsion combined stresses, recently. Apparent delamination strength depends on the diameter of the pin, so the stress distributions around the interface edge between the top-coat and the bond-coat have to be analyzed by using the finite element analysis based on the experimental results to see the real delamination strength. Before analyzing, the deformation properties of the thermal sprayed coating have to be known. In this report, macroscopic elastic deformation properties of the four kinds of porous thermal barrier coating (TBC) is investigated experimentally and analytically. First, the indentation tests are performed to obtain the loading and unloading-depth curves in various load levels, and secondarily Young's moduli are explored by using the unloading-depth curves, Hertz-contact theory and FEM analysis at several loading levels. It becomes clear that the obtained Young's moduli increase with increasing indentation load, which means that the obtained Young's modulus is an apparent modulus of the coating having some structural failure caused by indentation test. As the results, the real Young's moduli are determined at the very small load level with no structural failure for the four kinds of porous thermal barrier coatings.

沖縄県では台風や大雨時に赤土等の土砂が河川や沿岸海域に流出し、海洋生態系への悪影響が懸念され、大きな問題となっている。平成13年度の調査では、1年間で約30万tの赤土等が流出しており、そのうち74.4%は農地からのものであったと報告されている。これまで、耕種部門では減耕起栽培やグリーンベルト等の対策技術が開発されてきたが、コストや労力の増大から農家による実施は十分に進んでいない現状にある。沖縄県ではサトウキビや冬春期野菜の収穫後、春から夏にかけて休閑期間となるが、この期間は梅雨や台風の時期にあたり、畑面が裸地状態のままでは赤土流出が発生しやすい。そこで、沖縄で古くから土づくりのために利用されてきた緑肥を用いて、赤土流出防止を目的にカバークロップとしての評価をおこなった。供試作物としては、栽培面積が多いクロタラリア、近年導入されたピジョンピーとヒマワリ、一部離島で栽培されているフウキマメを選択し、生育特性および赤土流出防止効果について調査した。

OTC drugs play an important role in self-medication. OTC analgesic and antipyretic drugs are widely used in Japan. The present study aimed to survey the components of OTC drug package inserts for analgesic and antipyretic drugs and to evaluate the adverse event profiles using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report database (JADER). The JADER contains 430587 reports from between April 2004 and November 2016; a total of 750 reports of adverse events resulted from the use of OTC analgesic and antipyretic drugs. The safety signals were detected by the reporting odds ratio (ROR). The ROR values for “Skin & subcutaneous tissue disorders”, “Immune system disorders”, and “Hepatobiliary disorders” stratified by system organ class of the Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA) were 7.58 (6.56-8.76), 4.25 (3.51-5.14), and 2.35 (1.93-2.85), respectively. OTC analgesic and antipyretic drugs containing allylisopropylacetylurea (AIAU) exhibited a significantly high reporting ratio of “Skin & subcutaneous tissue disorders” compared with the drugs without AIAU. No difference in the reported incidence of “Hepatobiliary disorders” was found between the drugs with or without acetaminophen. Our results suggested that it was important to monitor patients who use OTC analgesic and antipyretic drug containing AIAU; in particular, careful attention should be paid to skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders.

As LCD such smart phones and tablets is increased to be used out of doors, it is interested in decreasing of contrast ratios of them. Many works are reported about the influence of lights on LCD and it is cleared that the cell characters are changed by mainly UV light. However, chemical change is scarcely reported because of difficulty of analysis of the cell separately in depth profiling. Micro analysis methods such as infrared micro-spectroscopy (μ-IR) and micro-sampling mass spectrometry (μ-MS) give deep insights of chemical and molecular change of LCD directly. In this paper, it has tried to analyze the LCD component change in a cell after UV treatment dividing the cell cross sectional direction, bulk liquid crystal (LC) layer and interface LC/PI film layer, and investigated the component change of LCD. It is supposed that LC1 is much condensed and gathered at the interface LC/PI alignment film at first, but it is destroyed by UV light spreading to the bulk layer and PI film is caused a little chemical change deducing holding voltage also.

Although S-1 chemotherapy is used widely as postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for gastric cancer, some patients experience diarrhea during treatment. The patient was a 39-year-old woman who underwent distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer and who had started S-1 chemotherapy as postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy 1 week before her presentation. She experienced severe diarrhea immediately after starting the course of S-1 tablets. Capsule endoscopy revealed severe S-1-induced enteritis with extensive mucosal injury in the ileum and red intestinal fluid due to the oozing of blood in the ileum. After reducing the dosage of S-1, her diarrhea became milder, and she was able to continue S-1 chemotherapy.
