トンボ鉛筆が2013年3月に発売した修正テープ「MONO ergo(モノエルゴ)」(図1)*1。金沢大学教授の柴田克之氏と共同開発した製品で、使いやすさを人間工学(エルゴノミクス)の点から突き詰めた。その形状決定のプロセスでは、試作が大きな役割を果した。

Situated to the east and the west of the Eurasian continent, the British Isles and Japan both possess cultures with root extending into the distant past. In both areas numerous genealogies have been fashioned from the seventh century, the time from which the first written materials are extant. These genealogies have played a central role in the determination of an awareness of history. This article introduces the Japanese translation of Kathleen Hughes's, The Early Celtic Idea of History and the Modern Historian: An Inaugural Lecture, (Cambridge University Press; Cambridge,1977, 24 pp.). Hughes treats the era during which Christianity, a religion that served on the basis of Celtic culture, was accepted by medieval Ireland. By examining numerous genealogies, Hughes examines the development of historiography. This report introduces Hughes's work in order foster a better understanding from a comparative perspective of the culture of genealogies and the development of historical writings in Japan.

Various on-tree ethanol-sticker treatments for ‘Taigetsu’ and ‘Taiten’ persimmon (astringent cultivars) were tested to identify optimal treatment conditions for astringency removal and fruit quality. Using aluminum foil coated or polyethylene terephthalate stickers to attach a pad containing 1.5 g of ethanol powder to both sides of the fruit surface in early October removed astringency completely, while the application of treatments to one side of the fruit surface did not. The astringency removal was incomplete in treatments with a cast coating sticker. The aluminum foil-coated sticker with a 1.0 g ethanol pad applied in early October removed flesh astringency completely without fruit skin darkening or the occurrence of large numbers of brown specks in the flesh. It extended fruit shelf life by approximately 7 days compared with postharvest CO2 treatment in November. Conversely, sticker treatments in late September caused many brown specks in the flesh. The sticker treatment with a 0.6 g ethanol pad failed to remove the astringency completely while the sticker treatment with a 1.5 g ethanol pad resulted in heavy fruit skin darkening or the appearance of shallow concentric cracks on the fruit skin. Therefore, we conclude that an on-tree sticker treatment with a 1.0 g ethanol pad on both sides of the fruit surface in early October removes fruit astringency completely and provides high quality ‘Taigetsu’ and ‘Taiten’ persimmon fruit.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the postural control ability using stabilogram-diffusion analysis (SDA). Any parameters of SDA were compared with several parameters of body sway derived from recordings of the center of pressure (COP) with the aid of a static force platform. The subjects were 38 elderly healthy volunteers. They quietly stood on a static force plat form with open and closing eyes. As the results, there was a significant correlation between the diffusion constant derived from the parameters of SDA and the parameters of COP with eyes open and closed. The correlation was found to be greater in the closing eye condition than that in the open eye condition. The correlations between diffusion coefficients and the range and mean of anterior-posterior velocity were greater than the correlations between the diffusion coefficients and the range and mean of the lateral velocity. Thus, the muscle of the tibialis anterior and the planter muscles was suggested.
