In this paper, facilities location model based on Spatial Interaction Models (SIM) is concerned. Initially outlines of SIM and location problem based on SIM are described. Secondly, a new model of SIM which is developed from Non-constraint type of SIM is proposed. In this model a new concept Maximum Realized Demand is applied. Next a location problem to maximize the sum of realized demand is proposed which is based on developed SIM. A method of solution based on Stochastic Descent Method and Stochastic Approximation Method is presented, and the effectiveness of presented method is confirmed through numerical analyses. Finally, 3 simulations of optimal location analyses are shown, and characteristics of presented location model are examined.

The Hatenohama sand cays located at the eastern end of Kume Island are the largest coral sand cays in Japan, with a total length of about 6 km and a width at the widest point of 300m. The aim of this paper is to describe the long-term changes in shorelines along the Hatenohama sand cays caused by typhoons. Vertical aerial photographs were taken 5 times in the period between 1962 and 1984. Shoreline changes in the sand cays were measured with a digitizer from these aerial photographs. In order to compare changes of intertidal and subtidal sand areas in the areas surrounding the sand cays, image enhancement techniques were employed on these photographs using a personal computer system and a CCD camera. Typhoons and their wind data recorded at the Kume Island Weather Station over the period 1.962-1984 were analyzed. During those 22 years the number of typhoons wihch approached Kume Island was 126. Wind energy resultant vectors were calculated using the wind velocity and the wind direction at the times when typhoons passed near or over the island. The analysis of sand cay shoreline changes and wind date of typhoons for the period 1962-1984 at Kume Island indicated that the changes of shorelines reflect changes inn the wind-induced waves. Shoreline changes occurring since 1962 were related to the wind-induced waves from the south associated with the occurrence of typhoons. Significant changes have occurred since 1970. Con-siderable quantities of sand have moved, exposing beach rocks on the southern beach and covering formerly exposed beach rocks on the northern beach. Because of the strong south wind, the south sides of the cays experienced ramparts erosion, while the sandy beaches on the northern sides increased in area. It was found that the shoreline changes and changes in the shapes of the sand areas surrounding the sand cays occurred frequently. However, the long-term trends of shoreline erosion/accretion patterns and the changes in mor-phology of sand areas are not clearly understood. This study shows that the eastern and the western ends of the sand cays have been elongated and significant changes have occurred, On the other hand, the middle of the southern beach has suffered little or no shoreline change, with the beach rock being extensively exposed for the length of about 1km. It is assumed that the beach rock supports sandy sediments and protects the shoreline from wind-induced wave erosion.

The metal dissociation constants of bovine carbonic anhydrase II, bovine carboxypeptidase A, rat aminopeptidase B, and rat dipeptidyl peptidase III were measured using metal buffer solutions. The zinc dissociation constants of bovine carbonic anhydrase II, bovine carboxypeptidase A, rat aminopeptidase B, and rat dipeptidyl peptidase III were 5.8×10−14, 3.5×10−12, 3.7×10−13, and 1.9×10−13 M, respectively. The ternary complex between metal derivatives of bovine carbonic anhydrase and various chelating agents were characterized using the kinetic method and visible and magnetic circular dichroism spectra. The coordination geometry of the ternary complex was in the equilibrium state between the five and the tetrahedral coordination geometry. The equilibrium state depends on the character of ligands. Dipeptidyl peptidase III which has an abnormal zinc binding motif (HEXXXH) was characterized using the point mutation and computer simulation methods. The abnormal zinc binding motif (HEXXXH) of rat dipeptidyl peptidase III has a large helix part. It is generally known that the cupric derivatives of the zinc peptidase loses enzyme activity, but the cupric derivative of dipeptidyl peptidase III surprisingly has enzyme activity. The measurement of the electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of the cupric rat dipeptidyl peptidase III in the presence of the substrate showed that the coordination geometry is very flexible. The flexibility of the coordination geometry in the cupric rat dipeptidyl peptidase III is important for the expression of enzyme activity. Docking simulation was used to identify the substrate binding site of aminopeptidase B, which is a powerful tool to estimate substrate binding residues in enzymes.

In this paper, a method to generate gradation of typical coloring techniques in order to promote a content production environment in consideration of KANSEI (sensitivity) engineering is discussed. We considered a color cube with coordinates in three axes, representing RGB 3-dimensional space. There are various gradations in a color cube. We have developed an interactive tool to generate a gradation by displaying the inner area of the color cube. We then proposed a new method to generate gradation using this tool. Regarding parameters of display area, we considered inputting pattern data from color scatter charts obtained from paintings or photos. The possibility of a tool which can generate gradation from images corresponding to the KANSEI words is discussed.

差分進化(Differential Evolution: DE)はシンプルかつ頑健なアルゴリズムであることから,様々な分野で利用されている.しかし,問題の特徴が未知の問題に対して最適な制御パラメータを設定することは困難であり,ユーザにとって大きな負担となっている.近年,制御パラメータを探索中に調整する自己適応型差分進化(self-adaptive DE: jDE)が優秀な探索性能を持つことから注目されている.さらに,適応型DEとしてJADE,SHADEが良好な性能を示している.本研究では,これらのDEをベンチマーク関数によって評価実験を行い,各アルゴリズムの性能比較を行う.

路面の不陸は乗り心地のみならず, ハンドル操作にも影響を及ぼすと考えられる. そこで, 著者らは車輪が接地する4点の高低差で表される路面の形状に着目し, 操舵を乱しやすい路面を表す指標「ワンダリング指数 (WI) 」を開発した. 本論文は車輪が接地する4点の相互関係と運転者が行う操舵仕事との関係から, WIの有用性とその測定法を検討するものである. モデル区間における実験の結果, WIと操舵仕事には関連性のあることがわかり, 測定法も使用にたえうる精度であることがわかった. これらの結果をふまえ, 路面性状自動測定車へWI測定システムを搭載するための具体的な方法を提案する.

The Spinning solar sail is expected to be a future space exploration system. Considering the dynamic deformation of the sail membrane is an indispensable factor in designing the spacecraft. But the mathematical model of the sail membrane is complex. Computational analysis is difficult and time consuming. Therefore this has a negative impact on simulation, design and control problems. The model reduction technique is required to shorten the design period. It is a necessary step in order to put the gossamer structure to practical use. In this presentation, the dynamic property of the square type spinning solar sail is revealed, and the requirements for constructing a reduction model are revealed. Then, empirical model reduction techniques are applied to gossamer structures, and the issue of constructing a low-order model is summarized.

The study investigates the past 1 Ma tephrostratigrapy of the Miyazaki plain in southern Japan. There are over 50 tephra layers, 80% of which originate from Kirishima volcano 25 km west of the plain. Several widely spread marker tephra layers in the layers and fission-track dating are used to establish tephrochronology. The explosive eruptive history of the volcano was reconstructed on the basis of tephrostratigraphy and tephrochronology. The history has two volcano groups: Pre-Kirishima 900-600 ka and Kirishima 600-0 ka. Pre-Kirishima volcanoes are unknown in detail. Kirishima volcano is divided into the Older Kirishima volcano, 600-330 ka, and the Younger Kirishima volcano, 330-0 ka. The Older Kirishima is characterized by calder-forming eruptions and large-scale pyroclastic flows, > 100 km3 in volume. Older Kirishima consists of four stages: O1 (600-530 ka), O2 (530-520 ka), O3 (520-340 ka), and O4 (340-330 ka). The tephra of O1 includes over five crystal-enriched ash fall layers, which indicate that vulcanian and phreatomagmatic eruptions occurred intermittently at that stage. O2 is the first calder-forming stage, in which the Kobayashi-Kasamori pumice fall and pyroclastic flows and Kobayashi caldera were formed. The pumice falls and a co-ignimbrite ash fall of the pyroclastic flow were dispersed over 1000 km east of the source, and covered the western half of the main island of Japan. O3 tephra layers are composed of over ten tephra layers formed by intermittent plinian and phreatomagmatic eruptions. The latter indicates that lakes emerged in the caldera. O4 stage is a large-scale eruption with the Kakuto pyroclasatic flow and Kakuto caldera forming. The Kakuto pyroclastic flow was accompanied by a pumice fall and a scoria fall. They were small-scale scatterings near the source from small-scale eruptions, while the co-ignimbrite ash fall reached Kanto, which is 1000 km east of the source. The Younger Kirishima began with intermittent pumice and scoria falls soon after the O4 stage. The Younger Kirishima forms the main landform in the Kirishima volcano. Most of the Younger Kirishima tephra layers of more than twenty scoria and pumice falls were caused by plinian and sub-plinian eruptions accompanied by lava flows. The activity of the Younger Kirishima volcano is subdivided into four stages: Y1 (330-130 ka), Y2 (130-50 ka), Y3 (50-30 ka), and Y4 (30-0 ka) on the basis of thick soil and erosive horizon, which suggest quiet volcanic activity with no eruptions or only lava flow eruptions. Y1 includes over five tephra layers from sub-plinian eruptions in the western part of Kirishima volcano. There is a long quiet period between 240 ka and 130 ka. Y2 has six scoria falls, which show sub-plinian eruptions in the western part of the volcano. Y3 tephra is composed of Uchiyama pumice fall, Iwaokoshi pumice fall, and Awaokoshi scoria fall. Iwaokoshi from Onaminoike 40 ka old and Awaokoshi from Hinamori-dake 30 ka old, were much larger eruptions than other tephra of the Younger Kirishima volcano. Forming stratovolcano at the source, they reach the Pacific Ocean and Miyazaki plain 50 km east of the source, while most of the Younger Kirishima tephra are distributed near Kirishima volcano. Y4 has more than ten pumice, scoria, and ash falls, which include historically recorded tephra layers. Of them, the Kirishima-Kobayashi pumice fall from Karakuni-dake 16.7 ka spread over the widest area, covering half of the Miyazaki plain and reaching the Pacific Ocean.

栃木県に分布する中期更新世の湖成堆積物である塩原層群宮島層から産出した新種化石珪藻Stephanodiscus akutsui sp. nov.を記載した。本種は殻面が円形で同心円状に波打ち,殻套は薄い。殻縁部の束線は2~3列の胞紋からなる。殻面有基突起は0~2つで2または3個の付随孔を伴い,唇状突起は1つである。また,しばしば刺を用いて鎖状に連結していることで特徴づけられる。これらの形態学的特徴の組み合わせは他種と一致しない。よって,著者らは本種を新種として提案する。

To provide event-driven services in IoT, scalable methods of topic-based pub/sub messaging are indispensable. Methods using structured overlay networks are promising candidates. However, existing methods have the problem of wasting network resources, because they lack adaptivity to “exhaust data, ” which have low or no value most of the time. The problem contains two aspects. One is that each publisher node continues to forward data to a relay node even if there are no subscribers. The other is that excessively large multicast trees are constructed for low value data, which will be received by only a small number of subscribers. In this paper, we formulate the desirable design of overlay networks by defining a property called “strong relay-free” as an expansion of relay-free property. The property involves publishers and subscribers composing connected subgraphs to enable detecting the absence of subscribers and autonomously adjusting the tree size. We also propose a practical method satisfying the property by using Skip Graph, and evaluate it through simulation experiments. We confirmed that the proposed method can suspend publishing adaptively, and shorten the path length on multicast trees by more than 75% under an experimental condition with 100,000 nodes.

Objective: To evaluate the participatory ergonomic method on the development of upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders and disability in office employees. Methods: This study is a randomized controlled intervention study. It comprised 116 office workers using computers. Those in the intervention group were taught office ergonomics and the risk assessment method. Cox proportional hazards model and generalized estimating equations (GEEs) were used. Results: In the 10-month postintervention follow-up, the possibility of developing symptoms was 50.9%. According to multivariate analysis results, the possibility of developing symptoms on the right side of the neck and in the right wrist and hand was significantly less in the intervention group than in the control group (p < 0.05). Neck disability/symptom scores over time were significantly lower in the intervention group compared with the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The participatory ergonomic intervention decreases the possibility of musculoskeletal complaints and disability/symptom level in office workers.

This study examines Japanese high school students’ logical development of ideas (LDI) through writing activities using various types of concept maps (CM). The result suggests 1) the most effective CM is a type including the task to reconstruct the ideas, 2) cognitive processing with reconstruction and repeat training contribute to improve LDI, and 3) the students’ awareness of the LDI improves.

Nishi is a most reputable family of Japanese-Dutch interpreter at Nagasaki. Kichibe Nishi, the 1st, began his career as interpreter in Portuguese in 1616 and then in Dutch in 1641.Kichibe Nishi (1811-1854), the 11th, was a chief compiler of Egeresugo Jisho Wage, the second English-Japanese dictionary compiled in Japan, and his son Kichijuro (1835-1891) was also one of the compilers. The dictionary, compiled from 1851 through 1854 but unfinished, was a fruit of the government order in 1850 to study English and Russian languages and to compile an EnglishJapanese dictionary, which was the second in history after the first similar government order in 1809.In 1853 Japan faced with one of the biggest events in history, the visits of Commodore M. C. Perry and also Admiral E. V. Putyatin with their squadrons, requesting the opening of Japan, and the interpreters were forced to be involved in those events. Major compilers of the dictionary, Kichibe Nishi, Einosuke Moriyama, Eishichiro Narabayashi and Gohachiro Namura, played important parts in them as well. Kichibe Nishi was the chief of the interpreter corps to Admiral E. V. Putyatin. He was used to be assigned tasks to facilitate confidential Dutch-Japanese talks between J. H. Donker Curtius, Superintendent of the Dutch Deshima Factory, and the Governor of Nagasaki over ways to deal with the foreign powers.Although it was unfortunate that the dictionary was left unfinished under those circumstances, the efforts of the interpreters directed to their study of English were to be highly valued, since many of them made the most of their knowledge of English in their work and in teaching English. Kichibe Nishi, who took charge of their studies of English, was also an excellent teacher of Dutch to many of those interpreters in their childhood. His life, which has little been known, is described in this paper.

The Specific Health Checkup aimed at preventing metabolic syndrome was initiated in 2008 in Japan. Through this guidance, people considered at high risk of metabolic syndrome's progressing are expected to be made aware of their own problems in their daily lifestyle choices and to improve their daily life behaviors by themselves. To support this national endeavor, we have introduced the idea of data mining techniques by building a Bayesian network (BN) corresponding to the framework and the data configuration of the Specific Health Checkup. In this paper, we analyze data on 11,947 anonymized individuals, extracting major factors from questionnaire data related to lifestyle and consider the possibility of generalizing our BN by introducing these lifestyle questionnaire factors as nodes of the BN. This proposed method is found to provide good performance, and its usefulness is revealed by evaluating the level of change of the responses to the questionnaire. Introducing the lifestyle questionnaire factors nodes into the BN would be expected to make it a more useful risk assessment tool.
