It has been recommended that active learning methods, such as team-based learning (TBL) and problem-based learning (PBL), be introduced into university classes by the Central Council for Education. As such, for the past 3 years, we have implemented TBL in a medical therapeutics course for 4-year students. Based upon our experience, TBL is characterized as follows: TBL needs fewer teachers than PBL to conduct a TBL module. TBL enables both students and teachers to recognize and confirm the learning results from preparation and reviewing. TBL grows students' responsibility for themselves and their teams, and likely facilitates learning activities through peer assessment.

Falconry is one of the most traditional co-hunting styles of Japan. Public patronage began in the 4th century; it was the exclusive preserve of nobles and feudal lords until the 19th Century. The culture especially flourished in the 17th to 19th centuries under the family of the Tokugawa shogun. Some 1,600 km2 of Edo (presently Tokyo) served as a falconry preserve (Otakaba). Because all hunting of animals was prohibited inside of it, Otakaba also served the role of game preserve. After the Meiji Restoration, the Otakaba system lapsed and falconers lost their jobs. As the Edo area developed, new foreign customs changed the Japanese life style. The Imperial Household Ministry (presently Imperial Household Agency) preserved falconry as a time-honored art on the wishes of the Emperor Meiji. Falconers trained hawks and falcons, and worked at duck netting preserves (Kamoba). But following World War II, all this traditional hunting has ceased. On the other hand, private falconry activity is opening up. After his retirement from the Imperial Household Agency, Mr. Kaoru Hanami was invited by his pupils to become the president of The Japanese Falconers Association. He taught them to carry on the art of falconry that had been handed down to him, the Suwa hawking school, which is one of the most traditional styles. In his school, the hawk was considered to be an avatar that should be respected, but modern people did not understand or think that way. Because of his concern about the tendency of the people to look down on hawks as pets or mere hunting tools, he propounded a coined expression, “Jinyoh-Ittai” (man and hawk as one) to build a relationship of equality. There are other schools and dedicated groups that are trying to do sports falconry, and many clubs organized by pet owners in Japan. Also, in recent years, development of telemetry systems promises to make falconry more efficient.

我々はこれまでに、サンマ漁用の高効率な集魚灯としてLED集魚灯を提案してきた。これまでの研究でサンマの視感度に合わせたLED集魚灯の設計・試作を行い、実際に集魚試験も行ってその有効性を実証してきた。本研究は、この成果を発展転用して、小型イカ釣り漁船用LED集魚灯光源の開発の可能性を検討するための基礎研究である。試作したLEDパネルには発光色が白のLEDを6個、シアンのLEDを12個、計18個のLEDを使用して、横240 mm x 縦 150 mmの矩形パネル光源を試作した。サンマの最大視感度波長は510 nm程度であるが、イカ類は482 ~ 494 nm程度であり、この最大視感度波長を配慮するとともに、広い海域での利用も考慮して約100 nmの波長帯域を有するLEDパネルを試作した。また、船のローリングを考慮して±40 deg. 程度の放射角になるように設計した。今後、このLEDパネルを適宜組み合わせて小型イカ釣り漁船の船体構造に適合する形状のLED集魚灯システムを開発し、その実用性を検証する予定である。

本研究の目的は,里親養育支援の実態を明らかにするとともに,その支援が里親養育支援に対する満足度にどのような影響を与えているのかについて分析することである.全国の里親家庭4,038カ所を対象に郵送法による質問紙調査を実施した.里親養育支援の実態を探索的因子分析した結果,「里子が委託される前の里親への養育支援状況」を構成する因子として「委託前支援」と「未委託里親への支援」の2因子が抽出,また,「里子が委託されてからの里親への養育支援状況」を構成する因子として「里子のニーズと里親の意向を尊重した里親子支援」,「里親研修」,「里親養育をささえるつながりづくりの支援」,「不調時の危機介入」,「レスパイト」の5因子が抽出された.また,得られた因子が里親の満足度にどのような影響を与えているのかを重回帰分析したところ,「里親養育をささえるつながりづくり支援」と「委託前支援」のみが貢献していた.

TAI-A and TAI-B showed inhibitory activities against sucrase, maltase and isomaltase isolated from hog small intestine according to the method of Dahlqvist. TAI suppressed the increase of the blood glucose level of fasting mice administered with maltose. TAI suppressed the increase of the blood glucose level and the secretion of insulin of rats which were fasted and then forced-fed cooked corn starch, because of the inhibition against the starch digestion in the small intestine. The suppression of the increase in the body weight was observed in the 3 months toxicity test on the groups which were given diet containing 1.82 and 908 GIU/g of TAI, respectively . Hematological and histopathological examinations did not reveal any remarkable difference among all the experimental animals. TAI inhibited the growth of some anaerobic bacteria belonging to Clostridia, but did not show any inhibitory activity against other anaerobic bacteria. TAI and maltotriose showed an synergistic effect on the antibacterial activity.

Records of specimens suggesting cleptoparasitism of Poecilagenia sculpturata (Kohl) on Auplopus carbonarius (Scopoli) are reviewed, and the cleptoparasitic behavior of this species is described. In her searching behavior, female P. sculpturata repeatedly uses the antennae by applying them to the substrate near where other pompilids are nesting. The flagellar sensilla of this species are observed by SEM, and the following types of sensilla are found : sensilla placodea, sensilla basiconica A, pit organs, sensilla campaniformia, sensilla trichodea A, B, C, and sensilla spatulata. The structure of the antenna and sensilla of P. sculpturata is compared with that of A. carbonarius. The female P. sculpturata has a shorter and stouter fusiform flagellum with denser sensilla basiconica A on its anteroventral side. Similar structures are found in cleptoparasitic pompilids, Evagetes species. These structures are considered to have evolved due to convergence as an adaption to the cleptoparasitic mode of life. The sensilla basiconica A are presumed to play the most important role in locating the host or paralyzed spider.

In this paper, a design method to obtain the maximum static thrust ducted fan is proposed. In this method, the shape of the optimum blade is obtained by minimizing the objective function. The objective function includes the effect of the leading edge suction that acts on the duct's rip. The shape of the optimum blade is tapered, however, a small expansion is confirmed at blade tip. The amount of this expansion depends on the radius of duct's rip. From the optimized ducted fan, it is concluded that the duct generates nearly half of the total thrust, which is also predicted by the simple momentum theory.

<p>The contra-rotating rotors are applied to UAVs because of the counter balance of the torque. High thrust can be obtained for the contra-rotating rotors, and its thrust can be increased by adopting a duct with a bellmouse. Therefore, we started the research of the large scale ducted fan having the contra-rotating rotors. The numerical analysis result is validated by the experimental result using a thrust measurement apparatus in this paper. Furthermore, research and development results of the contra-rotating ducted fan based on the numerical analysis are presented.</p>

山田等は滓引期間に新酒中に含まれている多くの活性酵素類の作用により特に糖類あ, アミノ酸が増加し自然酒味も変化して熟成するものであり, それ故に新酒の早出しを要する場合には品温をあげて酵素類の活動を促せば早熟することを考え滓引中の清酒の品温を15℃位迄昇せて早熟効果を挙げることを考案した。近年再びこの早熱法について山田, 古川, 高橋, 秋山等によって検討が加えられ「新酒の調熟には約30℃ に加温して10日前後保つ」のが最適であることが認められている。そして30℃加温法による清酒のアミラーゼ力価, 糖分の増加あるいは酸化還元電位に関係あるI. E. T値 (I. T. T) 即ち酸化還元電位に対する緩衝能を測定し, 熟成の理論と最もよく一致するものであると述べている。筆者等は加温調熟法による清酒の酸化還元電位 (rH) を測定し調熟との関係について種々検討を行なったのでここに報告する。

This paper which is based on original field-work carried out between August 1989 and July 1990 in the Province of Adamawa, Cameroon, presents a typology of medicine men. It offers a description of the initiation by way of dreams, a process which I underwent myself. The initiation by way of dreams is discussed from a psychological perspective. I explore the possibility of reframing the prevailing paradigm of psychotherapy by making use of indigenous African practices.The initiation by way of dreams includes several stages: the induction of dreams, the overcoming of fear in dreams, the induction of a pathological dream state, and dream control. A medicine-man receives his calling by falling ill according to a culturally defined syndrome. The initiation is a tool to reproduce this creative illness.During the process the initiate is made to achieve a state of lucid dreams, of ‘being awake while dreaming’. I argue that the concept of ‘lucid dreams’ provides us with an important clue in the study of ecstasy and possession. It also has great potential in training programs for psychotherapists treating borderline or psychotic patients.
