We proposed a new cognitive visual model of movie recognition based on our previous findings of psychophysical phenomena. Our cognitive model suggested two important functions of movie recognition process. First, a continuous movie sequence was divided and perceived as serial event segments of short scenes. The movie would be coded for each of the segments and structuralized as a contextual association of each segments. Second, the knowledge structure of the context of previously viewed movies was used to predict the ongoing movie context and the online segmentation. We compared our cognitive model with a previously proposed theoretical model of movie processing. The results of our experiments supported our hypothesis: an adaptive learning mechanism of online movie segmentation would be effective for an intelligent knowledge-based structure of a future movie analysis system.

スポーツや体育関連資料をもとにして,体育の学習内容としてのターゲット型ボールゲームに関し検討をした.そして,ボールゲームを適切に4類型化すると,ゴール型,ネット型,ベース型, ターゲット型となった.ターゲット型のゲーム理念を考察すると,自己決定の重要性,ボ-ル等を送り出す正確性,そして数を競うことと考えられる. このボールゲームの特性には,比較的軽運動であり,結果に対する洞察力が必要とされ,セルフジャッジが可能で,安全性が高いことがあげられる.このように4類型化した場合,体育の学習内容には,ターゲット型ボ-ルゲームが含まれていないことになる.ターゲット型のゲーム理念と運動特性を踏まえると,学習内容として価値があることが明らかとなった.ただし,比較的軽い運動が主体であることから,体力向上効果は直接には期待できない.

Fatigue tests were conducted under fully reversed axial loading (R = -1) in laboratory air and 3% NaCl solution using friction stir welded (FSW) joints of 7075-T6 aluminium alloy sheets. The FSW joint exhibited lower tensile strength than the parent metal. Heat input during FSW process re-dissolved strengthening precipitates, resulting in softening in the weld zone and lower tensile strength. In laboratory air, the fatigue strength of the FSW joint was comparable to that of the parent metal, which could be attributed to grain refinement in the stir zone (SZ) and dynamic aging during fatigue loading in the softened weld zone. In 3% NaCl solution, the fatigue strength of the FSW joint was lower than that of the parent metal. Corrosion pits were preferentially formed at the boundary between thermo-mechanically affected zone (TMAZ) and heat affected zone (HAZ), which led to premature crack initiation in the FSW joint. Such predominant formation of corrosion pits was due to the sensitization caused by heat history during FSW process.

本稿は「感情知能」と「上司と部下の関係性」を質問紙調査のデータを用いて統計的に検討したものである.大手製造業で実施した研修の結果から,感情知能とは生得的な特性ではなく,後天的に向上させることが可能な能力であり,かつ感情知能の向上は上司と部下の相互作用を促進させる効果があることが示された.さらに,知覚した感情情報を処理するにあたっては,そのプロセスについても重要な役割を果たしていることが示唆された.

Jean Baptiste de Lamarck (1744-1829) maintained that characteristics that were acquired during an organism's lifetime are passed on to its offspring. This theory, known as Lamarckian inheritance, was later completely discredited. However, recent progress in epigenetics research suggests it needs to be reexamined in consideration of DNA methylation. In this article, I summarize our observations, which support Lamarckian inheritance. Initial experiments indicate that (1) artificially induced demethy-lation of rice genomic DNA results in heritable dwarfism, and (2) cold stress induces extensive demethy-lation in somatic cells of the maize root. Based on these results, I propose the hypothesis that traits that are acquired during plant growth are sometimes inherited by their progeny through persistent alteration of the DNA methylation status.

The aims of this study were to extract the stress biomarkers from human hair samples and explore the optimal procedure for this extraction. The investigation included a methodological variation related to the extraction time and pulverization method in the procedure for the determination of stress biomarkers. Consequently, the three stress biomarkers, cortisol, testosterone, and dehydroepiandrosterone were successfully extracted from the hair sample. Moreover, the pulverization method had no impact on the determination procedure. Additionally, the extraction time significantly affected the amount of the target substances. An optimal procedure based on the results of this study was proposed.

An anologue quartz timepiece, Cal. 7A28, the first Analogue Quartz Chronograph in the world, is reported here, which is operated by four independent driving motors. Cal. 7A28 is an Analogue Quartz Chronograph with the improved levels in time measuring efficiency, time accuracy, reliability, and maintenance, and also is an analogue quartz timepiece including complicated and multiple functions. In this paper, the operating performance, structure of the movement, and the electronic circuit are discussed in connection with the fine mechanism and the microelctronics. This paper may serve to promote analogue quartz timepieces equipped with multiple functions.

千葉県銚子市で水揚げされたサバを原料とするサバ缶詰について、カーボンフットプリント(CFP)の試算を行った。システム境界は、漁獲段階、冷凍冷蔵段階、缶詰製造段階、輸送段階、販売段階、廃棄段階とした。機能単位は、内容物180gのサバ缶詰とした。各段階のCO2排出量は、漁獲段階から92.0 g-CO2/缶、冷凍冷蔵段階から15.2 g-CO2/缶、缶詰製造段階から162.5 g-CO2/缶、輸送段階から13.3 g-CO2/缶、販売段階から10.8 g-CO2/缶となり、サバ缶詰1缶あたりのCFPは293.8 g-CO2/缶となった。
