ブロッコリーの芽に含まれるスルフォラファン (Sfn) は,酸化ストレス応答転写因子 nrf2 を活性化することにより,細胞内の抗酸化酵素群を誘導し,酸化ストレスによる細胞障害を防止し,in vitro において抗 H. pylori (Hp) 作用を発揮する.我々は,Hp 感染マウス,およびヒト Hp 感染者において,Sfn 含有食品であるブロッコリースプラウト (BS) の摂取により Hp 胃炎を予防しうるか否かについて検討した.その結果,BS 投与によりマウス,ヒト両者において,Hp 菌数は減少し,胃炎は軽減した.以上より,Sfn 含有食品である BS の摂取により,Hp 胃炎の軽減効果が確認され,Sfn による胃癌予防効果が示唆された.

本研究は, 2000年度から完全施行された容器包装リサイクル法に対応して市町村で分別収集が導入されつつあるその他プラスチック製容器包装について, 既に分別収集を導入した自治体の事例から, モデル実施および全市実施を行った場合の収集量原単位や収集ごみ質等の変化を把握し, 分別収集の方法等による違いを検討した。<BR>その結果, 行政区域全体で導入した場合 (全市実施) は, 行政区域の一部でモデル的に導入した場合 (モデル実施) に比べて収集量原単位が大きくなる傾向があることが明らかとなった。原因として, モデル実施と全市実施における住民啓発方法や住民への協力要請内容の違いが, 収集量原単位に影響を与えていることが想定できた。寝屋川市におけるごみ質分析結果でも, 全市実施時にはモデル実施時に比べて住民の協力が高まり, プラボトル, パック・トレイ等については, 重量で7割以上が適正に分別排出されることが確認できた。

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are high reactive compounds, which are produced on the process of oxygen consumption in aerobic organisms. ROS can be vanished by several enzymes, but excess of ROS cause damage on the organisms by the oxidation of DNA, proteins and lipids and so on. In this short review, you will see the general information about ROS (how and where ROS are produced and vanished), and then our resent reports, which show the involvement of His-Asp phosphorelay signal transductions into the control of ROS production in Aspergillus nidulans.

航空エンジン電動化システム(MEE:More Electric Engine)は次世代の航空機用エンジンへの適用をめざした制御コンセプトである.MEEには,航空機における電動化と連携した2つの役割があり,エンジンの燃費改善,整備性向上,より高い信頼性・安全性を目指すPropulsionとしてのMEEと電動化の大きな電力需要を担う,Power PlantとしてのMEEである.今回はこれらの役割を担うMEE研究の現状について紹介する。エンジンシステムの電動化によりシステムの無駄を省き,燃費や熱のマネジメントなどを改善する研究,電力需要の増加による発電抽出力とエンジン制御の最適化を目指す研究,統合化推進制御として,システム最適化に向けた,燃料,電力,制御システムと推進システムの統合化の調査研究である.まとめに,MEE実用化に向けた課題として,機体メーカの視点とエアラインの視点を紹介する.

本稿ではプロ野球の投手の評価を例としてDEAについて概説する.最も簡単な1入力1出力についてCCRモデルとBCCモデルの違いを説明した後,4入力2出力のBCCモデルを用いて投手の多角的な評価を行う.DEAを用いた分析の仕方を身近な野球の事例を通して紹介することで,DEAの有用性を直観していただければ幸いである.

消費税率10%への引き上げは正しい選択だ。財政の健全性を測る指標の一つに公債残高の対GDP比があるが、日本はこの比率が200%に達している。EUでは60%という基準を設けていて、ドイツやフランスが90〜100%、財政危機に陥ったギリシャでも140%程度だ。そんな状況で「消費税率を上げなくても何とかなる」というのは無責任ではないか。

A 10-year-old cat presented for evaluation with a 1-month history of salivation and oral bleeding. A right mandibular mass was palpated and computed tomography examination revealed entire bone proliferation. Mandibular bone biopsy was performed, and histopathological diagnosis was vascular hamartoma. The cat suddenly died on day 140.

The anodic steady-state current by a sulfhydryl compound in concentrations about 10 μM at a dialysis membrane covered phthalocyanine-embedded carbon paste electrode (mCoPCPE) completely vanished after the addition of N -ethylmaleimide (NEM) in double concentrations of the sulfhydryl compounds. The concentrations of reduced glutathione (GSH) in whole blood and serum were determined by measuring the current decrease at 150 mV after the addition of NEM in blood solutions of pH 6.8. This method has the advantage of eliminating the procedures for deproteinization. The correlation coefficients between the GSH concentration determined in this method and those by a spectrometric measurement were 0.98 and 0.90 for 10 whole blood and 15 serum samples, respectively

A 12-year-old neutered male domestic shorthair cat was presented with a 3-year history of multiple nonpruritic, ulcerated, plaque-like skin lesions but no other clinical signs. A systemic examination revealed mild lymphadenopathy. Histopathologic analysis of the skin lesions revealed multicentric basosquamous carcinoma (BSC). Immunohistochemical analysis, PCR, and sequencing detected Felis catus papillomavirus type 2 (FcaPV-2) within the tumors. As BSC is rare in cats, clinical behavior has not been established. To our knowledge, this is the first case report to demonstrate detection of FcaPV-2 within a BSC in a domestic cat.
