The Italo-Japanese treaty of Amity and Commerce was signedin August 1866. This treaty was signed just one year and a fewmonths before the Meiji Restoration in Japan, and right after theThird Independency War which Italy fought in order to regainVenezia and its neighboring territories. If we consider thesehistorical events, we can say that the sign of the treaty was almosta miracle.One year later, the Italian government sent a Minister (CountVittorio Sallier De La Tour) and a Consul (Mr. Cristoforo Robecchi)to Japan; their arrival offi cially started diplomatic relations betweenthe two countries.With this paper I would like to discuss the position and role ofthe fi rst Italian Minister in Japan right before the Meiji Restoration.In order to achieve this goal I will analyze some primary sources(i.e. offi cial dispatches) found in Rome, at the Historical-DiplomaticArchive of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Aff airs, and focus mainlyon the following points:1) For which reasons Italy needed a Treaty of Amity and Commercewith Japan?2) What kind of instructions did the Italian Minister in Japan obtainfrom the Italian Ministry of Foreign Aff airs?3) What kind of relations the Italian Minister had with his French counterpart Leon Roches?4) How did the Italian Minister in Japan understand the fall of theBakufu and the rise of the new Imperial Government?By answering those questions I aim to unveil some unknownaspects and underline the historical value of the Italo-Japaneserelations at the dawn of the Meiji Restoration.

文部科学省グローバルCOEプログラム 関西大学文化交渉学教育研究拠点東アジアの言語と表象It was from the First Sino-Japanese war that a news photograh began to be taken in Japan. The soldier and citizen photographed the battlefront then. This study, I compared these War photographs which a person different in a situation and the nationality photographed each and inspected it. The photographs by the Sino-Japanese War brought new war expression in a picture and other sight media including the drawing. The photograph played an important role. Furthermore, not only the photographer considered it as a tool to record a photograph,but also found a new meaning. Other graphics did not have the look turned to the people who lived in the battle front.

これまで『英学史研究』3号, 7号において札幌農学校の英学について小論を発表したが, 本稿では, 同校出身の英学者たちの面を少しく掘りさげ, その面から, この学校が日本英学史上でいかなる位置を占めるかをうかがってみたい。これまでの調査をもとにして, 彼等の主な業績をあげ, さらに, 英学上で彼等とじかに接触し影響下にあった人々にもふれてどのような裾野がひらけているか展望を試みることにする。

This study investigated the soft tissue profile change of the chin following genioplasty. The subjects were 20 females who underwent genioplasty. They were divided into two groups depending on the directions of surgical displacement of the chin. In 11 patients anterior repositioning was made (forward movement group) and in 9 patients posterior repositioning was made (backward movement group).For each patient, lateral cephalograms taken preand postoperatively were traced and superimposed, and then linear measurements were obtained.The results were as follows: 1. There were differences in soft tissue reaction to hard tissue displacement between the forward movement group and backward movement group.2. In the forward movement group, the size of the chin increased as a result of further forward displacement of soft tissue pogonion in spite of forward displacement of lower labial sulcus. In the backward movement group, the size of the chin decreased as a result of backward displacement of soft tissue pogonion and forward displacement of lower labial sulcus.3. The horizontal displacement ratio of soft tissue pogonion to pogonion was 148% in the forward movement group, and 33% in the backward movement group.4. There was a significant positive correlation between the horizontal change of pogonion and soft tissue pogonion, horizontal change of menton and soft tissue menton, horizontal change of pogonion and the size of the chin, and horizontal change of menton and the size of the chin. On the other hand, in the forward movement group, there was no correlation between skeletal changes and soft tissue changes of the chin.

[Author abstract]Ethylene gas treatment of early ripening green mandarin oranges (Miyagawa variety), which were havested early or middle of October, resulted in rapid coloration. This method, however, was not successful when the oranges were treated in non-aerated place such as polyvinyl (vinyl chloride) bag. It may be that insufficinet aeration suppresses respiration of the oranges, thus hindering their ripening. On the other hand, the treatment performed in well aerated place, for instance in cartone bag, gave a satisfactory result. The acility of the fruit thus treated was lowered with concomitant increase, through slight of sugar content. This treatment rendered the fruit skin tight and caused no fruit soffening, as the result, giving attractive appearance. Therefore they were expected to be very suitable for commercial shipment at early season. Suitable coloration can be achieved within 9 days by performing the treatment at 25℃ in a room provided with appropriate aeration system with constant supply of ethylene gas. This treatment may be practiced in a large for early shipment of well colored mandrain oranges.[著者抄録]宮川早生温州をやや早めに、すなわち、未だ果皮が黄変せぬ前に(9月上、中旬)採取し、エチレンガス処理を行なえば、着色は促進され、また、品質も改善される。しかし通気性のほとんどない包装材、すなわち、塩化ビニール袋中で処理すると、果実の呼吸などの生理的現象がさまたげられるためか、ほとんど効果は認めがたい。他方、通気性のかなりあるダンボール箱のような、包装材中での処理効果は著しく、熟成が促進され、酸味が減少し、糖分の蓄積増加などが見られ、果実の浮皮化、軟化現象などもなく外観は、きわめて美麗なオレンヂ色となり、早期出荷などの経済的観点からも大きな期待がもたれる。処理中、および、その後の貯蔵温度は25℃位が良い。もし、包装せず、恒温で通気性のある室内にエチレンガスを一定量噴霧させ、かなり大規模に熟成促進に利用することが可能であるように思われる。特に、25℃の貯蔵温度で9日目位で充分酸味が減少、甘味も増加し、着色効果もあり、極めて良質のみかんとなることが明白となった。

はじめに 双極性障害の躁状態のときには,生気感情の亢進に伴い感情,意欲・行動,思考,身体面に症状が現れる。とりわけ意欲・行動面においては活動性が亢進し他人に干渉し,無作法で自己の正当性を頑固に主張する1,4)。今回,躁状態の経過中に,社会正義を唱え,いわゆるクレイマーのごとく好訴的な症例を2例経験したので報告し,共通する特徴などにつき考察する。なお,個人情報保護のため症例の細部には変更を加えた。

平成25年(2013年)がん登録等の推進に関する法律の成立により,がん診療に従事する施設に対して全国がん登録が義務化され,2016年度に新たに診断された患者さんから登録が始められている。登録は主として治療を行った施設によってなされているために,発見されたきっかけが検診であった患者さんについては発見に最も寄与した検診施設の功績が反映されない可能性がある。26の登録項目の中には発見経緯として「がん検診・健診診断・人間ドック」があり,検診施設が登録に関与する余地がある。登録は早い者勝ちである一面があるので,検診施設が登録に参加するチャンスは大いにある。登録協力施設は公的な保健,衛生関係のHP に掲載される可能性があり,多くの民間人やメディアの眼に触れる機会がある。施設の知名度や検診精度をアピールする上でも全国がん登録に参加するべきであると考える。そのためには全国がん登録の項目について知っておくこと,より確実に登録票が受理されるために可能であれば細胞診ないし針生検を行うことが望ましい。今年度から登録データはオンライン提出される方針となっている。

しょう油の減塩の現状とその方法について沢山の資料データをもとに解説していただいた。減塩しょう油は業界にとって大きな問題である。塩分過多の責任はすべてしょう油と味噌にあるように人々から錯覚されない努力もまた大切であろう。
