Sugino Fashion College Costume Museum has exhibited an evening dress from Maison de Couture Worth. However, the display's continuation has been a matter of concern because of its deteriorated condition over the ages. In 2007 Sugino Fashion College launched a three-year project to copy the dress including the necessary investigation and study to accomplish this work. The project titled “An Investigation into the Origin of Modern Costumes: Copying of Worth's Dress” was applied for “Promotion of Upgraded Research at Private University” and was accepted. In March 2010 the project was completed and reported in a symposium. This paper focuses on the aesthetic experience in the dresses around the year of 1900 and compares with that in contemporary dresses. In the project, Worth's evening dress was copied using calico without changing the design as it fit the body of a woman in the present day. The copied dress was put on the mannequin and the difference in aesthetic experience was compared between the original dress and the copied one. By this comparison it was revealed that the design of Worth's evening dress can be perfectly applicable for the present-day figure.

This study examined the trends in clothing that female university students followed and the kind of impression they intended to give their interviewers on being asked to take an interview dressed in attire that reflected their virtues. The following three hypotheses were examined: First, there is significant difference between student's impression management in everyday life and the impression that they wish to leave interviewers with. The students' impression management centered around their desire to prove their competence for the job. Second, the attire selected by students for job interviews differs from what they usually wear. They tend to choose a more elaborate dressing style for a job interview. Finally, students manage their impression by carefully selecting their attire for a job interview. The results showed that all the three hypotheses were valid. Further, the results revealed that students associated the clothes they chose for job interviews with a certain impression that they wished to make and that they managed their impression by independently choosing their outfits for job interviews.

This paper aims to describe the nationwide formation and spread of Yami-ichi (black market) after World War II and government's involvements in their processes. Then it tries to regard yami-ichi as a kind of universal activity of city more than extraordinary experiences through the grasp of nationwide cases and trace the various process of developments. We have overviewed the nationwide municipal histories of 100 cities which had a population of more than 45,000 people out of 210 municipalized cities in 1940 for this purpose. The existence of Yami-ichi can be identified at least 99 of 100 cities. Firstly, Yami-ichi existed at almost all of the cities with more than 45,000 people. They were very various in the point of name, location in the city and those organizers, and their spatial form could be marshaled as three-step model in chronological order. The time lags of the emergences of nationwide Yami-ichi shows the possibility of the indirect propagation more than natural generation in each cities. Though the famous cases of big cities have tended to be covered in previous study, this paper could trace the nationwide and various cases. Also though the violent cases around the terminal station in Tokyo have tended to be covered, this paper could trace familiar and common cases in every 23 wards including the suburbs. Secondly, various types of involvements made by GHQ and governments were clarified. They got involved with all of the process such as not only crackdown but also installation for their selves from the birth to death of Yami-ichi, and their types and level of involvements were very various. We are going to advance the research about the characteristic cases which were shown in this study in the future. Also expanding the survey to the cities which had a population of less than 45, 000 people could be found. The formation of Yami-ichi seemed to need a certain level of population and the hinterland. So we are thinking that we can clarify the forming conditions of Yami-ichi and their critical points by finding the city where Yami-ichi couldn't form and examining the conditions of them.

The spiral of silence theory is known as one of the most influential public opinion theories but it has not been verified well. Though a meta-analysis reported the small but significant relationship between subjective pervasiveness of respondents' opinion and the willingness to express their opinions (Glynn et al., 1997), findings are inconsistent. One of the main reasons of inconsistency is, as many researchers have pointed out, the difficulty in manipulation of theoretical assumptions. Reexamining main assumptions of the theory and findings of the spiral of silence studies, the author suggests that further investigation of the hardcore is required from the point of view of social networks.

The stereocontrolled synthesis of steroid side chain has been developed. The major interest has been forcused on the synthesis of the side chain of ecdysone as well as crustecdysone from 20-oxosteroid via furan derivatives. Reduction of the olefin (21) over palladium-carbon afforded the (20S)-20-furylsteroid (22), stereoselectively, whose hydrogenation over rhodium-alumina, followed by ruthenium tetroxide oxidation and treatment with methylmagnesium bromide, gave the triols (28) and (29) having an ecdysone-type side chain, respectively. The stereoselective reduction of the lactone (33) as a key reaction to give the δ-lactone (35) and the γ-lactone (36), under various conditions has also been investigated. Grignard reaction of both lactones with methylmagnesium bromide led to the synthesis of the tetraol (37) possessing a crustecdysone side chain. The total synthesis of 2-deoxycrustecdysone (3) has also been achieved by application of the above method.

Furans have been recognized as useful intermediates in organic synthesis. Among the synthetic utilities of furans, 1, 4-dicarbonyl equivalence is one of the characteristic features. This article describes the methodology for the synthesis of natural products, such as physiologically active steroids and lactonic antibiotics, employing the 1, 4-dicarbonyl equivalents derived from furan derivatives. The synthetic strategy is based on oxidative conversion of chiral furfuryl alcohols into the pyranones followed by their functionalization with appropriate nucleophiles and electrophiles to provide the modified pyrans possessing desired stereochemistries. These intermediates have been transformed into withanolide and brassinolide side chains, styryl lactones such as goniothalamin and goniodiol, malyngolide, and canadensolide. Chiral furfuryl alcohols have been prepared as follows. 1) Diastereoselective addition of 2-lithiofurans to chiral carbonyl compounds. 2) Kinetic resolution of secondary furfuryl alcohols using Sharpless reagent.

本稿は歴史における体験学習をめぐる考察と,中学校社会科の歴史分野における教材開発について述べるものである.歴史の体験では,過去の時代を体験するという,現実には不可能なことを"体験"することになる.不可能を可能にするためには,その時代に関する総合的な知識を習得していることが不可欠の要素となる.また,体験学習では,農山漁村体験や社会体験のように,場の設定が必要である.歴史における体験学習の場としては遺跡があげられる.本稿で紹介する教材では,秋田県大仙市の払田柵跡を体験学習の場に設定した.地域学習の意義と体験学習の意義を高めるために,ゲーミング・シミュレーションの手法を用いた.わが国の律令国家が成熟する9世紀初頭の時期の時代の全体像を見据えながら,秋田という日本列島を構成する一地域の人々の生活について,ゲームの世界で体験させる試みである.

本稿は,プログラミング初心者を対象としたプログラミング入門である.Racketという言語を用いて,未完成のゲームを完成させながら,プログラミングの基礎となるいくつかの要素を学んでいく.前編では,まずRacketのプログラミングの始め方を解説し,プログラムを少し変更して実行結果が変わる体験をしたのち,ゲームの世界を成り立たせている構造体について学ぶ.

近年バーチャルヒューマンのアプリケーションとして、エンタテインメントシステムやコミュニケーションシステムが注目されている。ここではいかに人物を忠実にコピーして合成するかが課題であるが、ビジョンベースのシステムは性能に限界があり、クオリティの高い合成画像を再現することは難しい。モーションキャプチャシステムは、映画やゲームの世界で一般的に利用されるが、オンラインで合成することは難しく、後処理で多くのマニュアル操作が必要とされるのが現状である。本稿では、特に顔のアクションを高い忠実度と自然なクオリティでコピーすることを目的とし、顔画像分析・合成技術を駆使して、準リアルタイムでバーチャルヒューマンを制御する手法について述べる。さらにエンタテインメントおよびコミュニケーションを目的とするアプリケーションシステムを紹介する。Copying human action accurately is main scheme in entertainment or communication application to control and generate a virtual human in a screen. Motion capture system is generally used to generate a crone human in the scene of motion picture or interactive game, however, huge manual operation at post processing is inevitable to generate high quality image. In this paper, especially copying facial action is focused on and high quality and accurate method to generate and copy natural impression of face with semi-interactive process using face image analysis and synthesis scheme. Finally, some application systems in entertainment area are introduced.
