硫黄原子が関与する様々な分子メカニズムの解明に威力を発揮する新規分析手法として期待されている無磁場固体33S核磁気共鳴(NMR)法について,技術的背景や測定事例,また,装置の概要を交えて概説する.本手法を使用することで,共有結合性を示す硫黄の詳細な電子情報を得ることや局所的立体構造解析が可能になる.

This research focuses on an experiment in boiling water in grade 4 Japanese elementary school science class. A questionnaire answered by 111 Japanese school teachers revealed that only few teachers understood that the cooler air around the thermometer prevents it from reaching the exact boiling point of water. Teachers want the children to obtain the boiling point of water at 100°C, yet in actual experiments it is difficult to measure it precisely. In order to avoid this situation in the classroom, it is necessary for the teacher to understand the characteristics of and master the rod thermometer.

目的:医療的ケアを継続しながら在宅療養へ移行した先天異常のある子どもの母親の経験や思いから,母親のレジリエンスの一端を明らかにする.方法:在宅療養中の先天異常のある子どもの母親7人に感情浮沈図を用いて半構造化面接を行った.データは内容分析の手法を用いて分析し,母親のレジリエンスについてカテゴリー化した.結果:母親のレジリエンスとして【退院への意志】【ネガティブ感情に負けない力】【夫の存在】【信頼できる医療者の存在】【子どもの生命力】【家族の存在】【妊娠と出産のポジティブな思い】【同じ境遇の母親の存在】【母親としてのプライド】【ソーシャルサポート】が抽出された.結論:医療的ケアを継続しながら在宅療養へ移行した先天異常のある子どもの母親のレジリエンスは,退院への意志,母親の性格,周囲の人々との信頼関係や支援,子どもの生命力,子どもとの相互作用によって培われた母親としての思いであった.出産前からの計画的な支援,母親と子どもの相互作用に着目した支援,在宅療養への段階的な支援が重要であることが示唆された.

2020年3月にパンデミックが宣言されたCOVID-19感染症は,2022年1月現在もウイルス変異により猛威を振るい続けており,社会生活は大きく変貌した。医療体制,ワクチン接種等をめぐり,根拠の不確かなニュースが氾濫するインフォデミックが危惧される状況となっている。本稿は,主に公共図書館における情報の吟味と提供を考える。疑問の定型化,エビデンス・ピラミッドや6Sピラミッドと情報検索,フェイクニュースへの海外の対応について述べる。さらに医療・健康に関する報道について質の向上を目指すメディアドクター研究会の活動を紹介し,メディアリテラシーについての話題を提供する。

愛知県濃尾平野北部に位置する木津用水は今から約370年前,尾張藩の直轄事業として開削された。木津用水の開削は尾張藩の財政を支え,その後何回かの災害を受けながらも復旧を行ってきた。明治時代には木曽川から名古屋を結ぶ舟運にも利用されながら現在まで用水路として水を配り続けてきた。しかしながら,都市化の進行により背後地などからの排水量の増大により機能に支障が出始めたことから,国営総合農地防災事業として改修を行うことになった。同用水の地下水涵養機能などに着目し,今後の用水供給の継続と土地改良区の役割などについて筆者の考えをまとめた。

We report a case of 79-year-old woman with an inflammatory aneurysm occurred in a thoracic aorta. The patient was admitted to our medical center because of continuous pyrexia of unknown origin. A marked elevation of serum C-reactive protein level was observed. Infections, collagen vascular diseases and neoplastic disease including malignant lymphoma were found to be unlikely by hematologic, serologic and radiographic examinations. Autoantibodies including antineutrophil antibodies were undetectable. Only enhanced-computed tomography revealed an abnormal finding, so-called mantle core sign, in thoracic aorta, which is specific for inflammatory aortic aneurysm. In general, the disease occurs in abdominal aorta, and the involvement of thoracic aorta like this case is rare. Usually, an aortic aneurysm occurs based on atherosclerotic change of blood vessels, and the aspects of an inflammation of large vessels have been focused recently at the pathological findings, the cytokine profiles and the immunological abnormalities. Thus, the differential diagnosis of the disease from Takayasu arteritis, a prototype of a large vessel vasculitis, is often difficult. The diagnostic procedure to differentiate from the other large vessel vasculitis, Takayasu arteritis and atherosclerotic diseases in abdominal aorta, is discussed. The patient was given oral prednisolone which lead to favorable outcome.

We present a 16-year-old male patient with hypoplastic left heart syndrome who developed protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) and plastic bronchitis (PB) after a Fontan operation. He received medical therapies, including albumin infusion, unfractionated heparin, and high-dose anti-aldosterone therapy but could not obtain clinical relief. Biphasic cuirass ventilation (BCV) led to expectoration of bronchial casts and prompt resolution of PB. Notably, clinical symptoms related to PLE were dramatically improved after starting BCV. A brief period of BCV increased stroke volume from 26±1.4 to 39±4.0 mL. This case suggests that BCV could be an effective treatment for PLE in patients with failing Fontan circulation.

Fibrils were isolated from rat tail tendons and tensile tests of the fibrils were performed in the air (dry) condition or in the physiological saline solution (wet) condition. After the fibrils were immersed in the physiological saline solution for 3 and 30 minutes, the fibrils were stretched to failure. There were no significant differences in the tensile properties between 3 and 30 minutes. These results indicate that the fibrils were sufficiently hydrated by the immersion of 3 minutes. The fibrils immersed for 3 minutes showed the tensile strength of 111±31 MPa (Mean±S.E.), strain at failure of 32.1±4.5 %, and tangent modulus of 350±53 MPa. Next, the fibrils were stretched to failure in the air. The dry fibrils showed the tensile strength of 702±137 MPa, strain at failure of 30.4±8.5 %, and tangent modulus of 2720±840 MPa. The tensile strength and tangent modulus of the dry fibrils were significantly larger than those of the wet fibrils. There were no significant differences in the strain at failure between the dry and wet fibrils. These results point to the great importance of water for the tensile properties of collagen fibrils.

世界保健機関 (WHO) 脳腫瘍分類 (Classification of Tumors of the Central Nervous System) は1979年の初版以来, 診断技術の進歩に伴い改訂を重ね, 2016年に第4版の改訂版が出版された. 本改定では浸潤性神経膠腫および胎児性腫瘍に初めて分子分類が取り入れられ, 古典的組織分類から分子遺伝学的分類へと病理診断の概念が大きく変更された事実上の第5版といえる. これは腫瘍の定義をできるだけ厳密にして客観性を高めるという方針に基づくもので, 遺伝子解析ができない場合や診断根拠が曖昧な腫瘍はNOS (not otherwise specified) を付与した記述に留めることになった. したがって多くのNOS診断を生み出す問題点も生じている.

本稿では,「共振」という概念を用い,フィールドワークが何を意味するのかということを探究する。ここでの「共振」とは,調査者とフィールドとの間に成立していると観察される相互関係を指す。それは必ずしも同調ではなく,むしろ多層・多面的に共同構築される現実の政治的な現れ方であり,葛藤・軋轢を経て相互の変容をもたらしたり,あるいはそれらが背景となり現実をつくったりする。 本稿ではこの概念を利用し,地域の日本語支援現場における筆者自身の体験に基づきながら,(a)フィールドワークの再定義,(b)フィールドワークの過程における自身の変容,(c)フィールドエントリーを通じて見えてきた種々の境界,さらに,(d)フィールドにおける行為者のポジションとその変化に伴う「共振」,について議論する。その上で,フィールドワークというのは集合的な学習経験であり,そのプロセスの中で学習を阻む特定の問題を協働で可視化しているのだということを,事例報告を交えながら示す。

In order to induce various electronic phase transitions in strongly correlated electron systems, lithium-ion battery-like electrochemical cells based on highly crystalline epitaxial thin films of transition-metal oxides have been developed. The electronic states of band insulators, Mott insulators, heavy-fermion metals, and superconductors are studied in detail from their transport, optical, and structural properties. This method has become a powerful tool for precise electrochemical doping of single samples and in-situ measurement of modulated electronic states. In this review, we present the results obtained in our previous studies, clarify the effectiveness and scope of application of this method, and look forward to its possible application to electrochemical devices.

ドパミンアゴニスト(dopamine agonist,以下DAと略記)が原因で幻覚・妄想を発現したと考えられるレボドパ服用中のパーキンソン病(Parkinson’s disease,以下PDと略記)患者11例に対し,DA減量・中止と同時にゾニサミドを新規投与し,精神・運動症状への影響を評価した.その結果,MDS-UPDRS Part 1.2(幻覚と精神症状)及びPart 3(運動症状)のベースラインから12週後のスコア変化量(LS Mean ± SE)はそれぞれ−2.4 ± 0.2,−5.1 ± 0.9であり,共に有意なスコア低下が認められた.以上の結果から,幻覚・妄想の発現・増悪への対処としてDAの減量・中止した時のゾニサミド追加療法は,PD患者の精神・運動症状のコントロールに有用な戦略になる可能性が考えられた.

開発初期の性能設計に用いる統計タイヤモデルの手法を用い,タイヤのサイズと内圧のみから転がり抵抗を推定できるモデルを構築した.得られたモデルは,サイズと内圧を変化させた場合の転がり抵抗の増減を精度良く再現できることが検証できた.本モデルは内挿予測に使う場合,ロバストであることを例示した.

インド北部のガンジス川流域は胆嚢がん多発地域である。しかし,その発症機序は十分に解明されていない。本研究の目的は,ガンジス川流域の住民が日常的に飲食に使用している水の汚染状況を調査し,胆嚢がん発症要因解明の手掛かりを得ることである。2017年9月,インド北部のバナラシ市に滞在中に,市内のガンジス河の河川水,公共水道水(1カ所),公共井戸水(2カ所),及びバナラシ市内及び近郊の胆嚢がん患者宅の井戸水(4カ所)を採取した。簡易水質検査法により10項目(鉛,細菌,農薬,鉄,銅,硝酸塩,亜硝酸塩,塩素,pH,硬度)の水質検査を行い,各々の結果を我が国における水道水質基準と比較した。水道水質基準を超えていた項目は,細菌,鉄,硝酸性窒素であった。細菌は,患者宅の井戸水3カ所で,鉄は,水道水,公共井戸水2カ所,患者宅井戸水2カ所で基準値以上を示した。硝酸性窒素は,市内井戸水1カ所で基準値より高値を示した。鉛,農薬,銅,亜硝酸性窒素,塩素,pH,硬度の値は全て基準範囲内であった。今回の調査で,患者宅の井戸水は細菌汚染(75%,3/4)と鉄の濃度が高い(50%,2/4)ことが判明した。細菌感染が胆嚢がん発症と関係していることが報告されていることから,患者宅井戸水を汚染している細菌種についての詳細な検討が必要である。

近年、デジタルゲームの開発・流通・プレイのありようが変化するなかで、その表現や倫理を めぐる問題は、国際的・文化的・社会的観点から重要になってきている。そこで、本稿は、CERO、 PEGI、IARCにおけるデジタルゲームのレーティングシステムの変遷に着目し、デジタル配信時代にお けるレーティングシステムの在り方について検討することを目的とした。その結果、CEROとPEGIの 審査基準の情報公開の在り方に相違がみられること、ゲームやアプリのデジタル配信などを背景として、 レーティングシステムの在り方が自己申告(Self-regulation systems)へと変化してきていること、新 しいゲーム技術の導入に対するレーティングシステムの適用について検討が求められていることが明ら かにされた。

Cerebral amyloid β (Aβ) deposition is a pathological hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). There are several molecular species of Aβ, including Aβ40, Aβ42, and Aβ43, and the pathological roles of Aβ43 have attracted particular attention in recent years. Aβ43 is mainly deposited as senile plaques (SPs) in AD brains, and is known to be more amyloidogenic and neurotoxic than Aβ42 and Aβ40. Aβ40 and Aβ42 deposition have been demonstrated in several animal species, while Aβ43 deposition has not been studied in animals. The brains of sea lions, dogs, and cats exhibit unique age-related Aβ pathologies. In the present study, the deposition patterns of Aβ40, Aβ42, and Aβ43 were examined immunohistochemically in the brains of aged dogs (n=52), sea lions (n=5), and cats (n=17). In dogs, most cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) lesions and primitive SPs were positive for Aβ42, Aβ43, and Aβ40. However, diffuse SPs and capillary CAA lesions were negative for Aβ40. In sea lions, all SPs and most CAA lesions were positive for Aβ42, Aβ43, and Aβ40, while capillary CAA lesions were negative for Aβ40. In cats, Aβ42-immunopositive granular aggregates and arteriole and capillary CAA lesions were positive for Aβ43, but negative for Aβ40. Double-labelling immunohistochemistry revealed the co-localization of Aβ42 and Aβ43. These findings suggest that Aβ43 and Aβ42 are frequently deposited in the brains of Carnivora animals and may play an important role in Aβ pathology.
