In many benthic organisms with a planktonic larval stage, local populations have different morphology. Such difference may arise from some of the following proximate mechanisms. “Local recruitment (LR)”: no larvae move between local populations, and segregated populations possess alleles coding for locally adaptive morphology. “Intragenerational selection (IS)”: larvae move between local populations, and individuals with alleles for locally adaptive morphology survive after recruitment. “Phenotypic plasticity (PP)”: larvae move between local populations and show phenotypic plasticity to adapt to a locality after recruitment. We examined which mechanism explains our finding that a planktonic developer Turbo coronatus coronatus (Gastropoda) had significantly longer spines on its shell on more exposed shores at scales of < 2 km. Experiments at Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, Japan, showed the following results. (a) Shorter- and longer-spined populations occurring within 2 km showed non-significant ϕ low st values (−0.0040 to 0.00095) for the mitochondrial DNA COI region. This suggests no segregation of the local populations, supporting the mechanisms IS and PP. (b) T. c. coronatus generated significantly longer spines 70 days after being transplanted to the habitat of a longer-spined population, supporting IS and PP. (c) Individuals caged in the sea for 79 days generated longer spines than individuals in the laboratory, supporting PP. In conclusion, shore-specific morphology of T. c. coronatus arises most likely from phenotypic plasticity and possibly from intragenerational selection.

石川県を流れる浅ノ川の中流域に於いて、1972年から1977年にかけてカワガラスのセンサスを行なった。カワガラスは周年みられ、毎年1月から2月にかけて造巣•産卵し、その個体数は季節的消長が激しい。この観察区域内で4月上旬から10月下旬にかけては平均1羽にすぎないが、11月から翌年の3月にかけては11羽以上に達する。カワガラスの棲息環境を知るよすがとして土手から観察できる全ての鳥類を記録した。完全にこの河川に依存して生活している鳥として、カワガラス以外にヤマセミとカワセミがほぼ周年観察された。主としてこの河川域に依存していると思われる鳥としては、コサギとコチドリが認められた。

Recent epidemiological studies showed that coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, presumably due to suppression of excess fat accumulation in adipocytes. However, the mechanism underlying the effect of coffee on adipocyte differentiation has not been well documented. To elucidate the mechanism, we investigated the effect of coffee on the differentiation of mouse preadipocyte 3T3-L1 cells. Coffee reduced the accumulation of lipids during adipocytic differentiation of 3T3-L1 cells. At 5% coffee, the accumulation of lipids decreased to half that of the control. Coffee also inhibited the expression of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ), a transcription factor controlling the differentiation of adipocytes. Furthermore, coffee reduced the expression of other differentiation marker genes, aP2, adiponectin, CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein α (C/EBPα), GLUT4, and lipoprotein lipase (LPL), during adipocyte differentiation. Major bioactive constituents in coffee extracts, such as caffeine, trigonelline, chlorogenic acid, and caffeic acid, showed no effect on PPARγ gene expression. The inhibitory activity was produced by the roasting of the coffee beans.

平成26年度において、雇用調整を目的としたいじめに対する労働組合の取組みに関するヒアリング調査を行った。具体的なヒアリング先は、港合同、名古屋ふれあいユニオン、おおだてユニオン、なかまユニオン、ソニー労働組合仙台支部である。ヒアリングでは、①どのようないじめが行われたか、②いじめに対して労働組合としてどのように取り組んでいるか、③解決に向けた今後の課題の3点を中心に、労働組合執行部およびいじめ被害者を対象に調査した。組合執行部だけでなく、いじめ被害者もヒアリングできたことは、大きな成果であるといえる。具体的な成果物は「雇用形態間格差は『労ー労対立』か」『研究論叢』52(2)である。

まず、朝鮮語教育の最大の隘路のひとつである文字教育に焦点を当て、『朝鮮語実物教材(1)』を作成した。授業において、大韓民国・朝鮮民主主義人民共和国のさまざまな「実物」資料に書かれた朝鮮語の語句を実見して読むことは、いわゆる「なまの」朝鮮語に触れる機会となり、学習者の学習モチベーションを維持・向上させる有力な手段となる。しかしながら、これらを「実物」によって示すことは、資料の収集・管理、あるいは教室のクラスサイズなどの諸々の要因のために、困難を伴うことが多い。本教材は、これら「実物」資料をデジタルカメラで撮影し、教室での利用を意図して集成したものである。これを直接あるいは実物投影機などを用いて利用することにより、簡便かつ容易に「実物」資料を提示することが可能となる。資料の収集にあたっては、上記のように南北朝鮮のものを中心としつつ、中国・日本をはじめとする諸国のものをも対象としたことによって、本課題の視点のひとつである「総合的朝鮮観」の涵養にも裨益するものである。つぎに、『日本で学ぶ朝鮮語』を作成した。従来の教材では、表記法・発音に関する事項と文法事項を平行して習得していく必要があるものが一般的であり、とりわけ学習時間数の限られている高等学校の課程においては、両者とも不十分な習得に終わることが少なくない。それを考慮し、基本的な文字・発音の学習の後、前者に関しては可能な限りいったん保留し、できるだけ少ない文字・発音に関する知識の活用により、基本的な文法事項の習得を優先したものである。また、外国語教育のイデオロギー的側面に関する論文「「ことばの魔術」の落とし穴」(山下仁・植田晃次編『「共生」の時代に(仮)』三元社、2005年夏刊行予定)も本研究の一部を成す。

昔話・伝説・歌謡・芸能は、言葉による伝達の他に、音声・表情・ゼスチャーなどが伴う。特に、口頭伝承が豊かな沖縄の伝統文化は、身体表現による伝達の割合が大きい。しかし、伝承の〈時〉と〈場〉の変化とともに、伝統的な〈様式〉と〈精神性〉は変容してきた。なかでも、古典音楽の琉歌や古典芸能は、近代演劇の影響を受けて、〈声〉〈音〉〈身体〉は大きく変容した。したがって、琉歌・組踊・古典舞踊の琉球王朝文化については、琉球士族の言葉と身体様式、その精神性に焦点をあてて研究を進めた。

In order to explain the concept of "imitation of nature", we must inquire into the significance of nature, imitation and genre as the result of imitation. "Nature", on which Diderot founded his theory, had in itself an ambiguous duplication of meaning : that is, the principle and the matter of fact. The rigorous copy of nature, which Diderot's theory had necessarily required at first, soon changed into a more loosened one and he recognized the subjective vision as another reality which was proper to fine arts. Now we will pursue after his fundamental attitude which can be found in his several treatises ; e. g. De l'interpritation de la nature, Traite du beau, Essai sur la peinture, Pensees detachees. and Paradoxe sur le comedien, etc.

It seems that Diderot's treatise on the beauti ful whichwas written as an article for the French Encyclopaedic Dictionary (1952) is lacking in logical consequence. This intricated doctrine has its key-note in the peculier notion of "perception des rapports". The aim of our approach lies in calling special attention to the principal idea, rapport, which may be too vast and vague to be a terminology of scientific statement. Diderot's notion of rapports properly contains some different meanings. It would be considered as a form, rational and harmonic, including symmetry, proportion, order etc. But Diderot failed in fixation of organic unity of the beautiful. moreover it is to be regretted that he denied the aesthetic significance of fiction : rapport fictif. Here we must remark that the division of the beautiful (le beau reel, le beau relatif) was derived from the very notion of rapport, and that the division would be situated in a row of development from Hutcheson to Home and Kant. It is almost clear that a sort of teleological comprehension lies at the bottom of his thought. In this regard we must profoundly analyse the relation between the beautiful and the useful.

共働き夫婦に関する質問紙調査を行い、以下のような結果が明らかになった。夫の長時間労働や職場の労働時間などの柔軟性の欠如は、夫の育児参加と強い関連が認められた。また、男性の家庭参加を肯定する意識が高い父親ほど、育児を分担しており、父親の性役割意識も関連がみられた。また育児に積極的な夫は、家庭参加のために職場に働きかけを行っているが、そうした夫の職場はすでに働きやすい職場であり、働きかけとの因果関係は明確に示されなかった。
