The purpose of this study was to identify mechanisms to increase bat head speed in baseball batting, from the view-point of kinetics. The batting motion of ninety-nine amateur baseball players was recorded with a motion capture system, and the kinematics and kinetics of the bat were analyzed. The bat's rotational power increased with the torque exerted on the bat's grip. However, torque and rotational power declined just prior to impact. It can be interpreted that these declines arise from a decrease in torque exerted by the wrist's periarticular muscles as the bat's rotational velocity increases (muscle force-velocity relationship). On the contrary, the bat's translational power increased just prior to impact. Judging from the relationship between the force exerted on the bat's grip in the direction of the bat's long axis and the bat head speed, the bat's translational power seems to depend on the bat's grip velocity in the direction of the bat's long axis. It was revealed that the bat's energy, by the application of rotational and translational power at different times, contributes to an increase in bat head speed in baseball batting.

「働き方改革」は、労働者の生活・労働の質の向上を目的としつつも、成長政策の一部としての人材政策としての意味付けがより濃くなってきている。医療部門においては、特に医師の「働き方改革」が推進されている。この改革は結果的には医師労働力供給の変更をもたらすため、それが医療供給の質・アクセスの保障に向けた取り組みと整合的となることが要請される。このため、長年労働時間規制の枠外とされ、長時間労働が常態化している医師労働の再編をいかに行うかは、複雑な要因を扱わねばならない政策上の難問となっている。本稿では、これまでの医師需給に関わ る先行研究をもとに、医師の「働き方改革」と医療供給との関わりを分析する枠組みを提示した。その枠組みには、住民の健康医療上の必要、医療労働過程の編成、必要労働、労働力供給が含まれている。医師労働力供給には、国内政策、国際移動、職業生活志向の変化を折り込み検討する必要がある。

This paper proposes a novel analytical model (BECK chart) to investigate how architecture education programs contribute to learning about the built environment. First the educational content of 67 AIA-supported architecture education programs for children and youth are categorized. Next the model is applied to visualize how these categories relate to the built environment. This analysis aims to contextualize the content of architecture education programs for children and youth in order to evaluate the ways in which these programs provide Built Environment Education content. The value of the model is also discussed.

Laplace transform was first introduced to electrochemistry in 1947 by Koutecký and Brdička, who derived an analytical equation of the polarographic “kinetic current” for weak acids at the dropping mercury electrode. Since then, Laplace transform has been successfully used to solve diffusion problems in a variety of electrochemical measurement systems. This article shows how to apply Laplace transform to obtain an analytical equation of the current–potential curve for a simple redox system. A previous practical application made by the author has also been described.

本報告は,オーストラリア統計局(以下,ABS)が提供する機能(カスタマイズ可能な詳細な国勢調査データ)を活用して,人口急増の著しいオーストラリアのシドニーにおけるジェントリフィケーションの特徴を考察した。1990年代後半以降に進展したグローバリゼーション下において,シドニーはオーストラリア国内では最も急速に,かつ顕著に成長した都市である。アジア太平洋地域の拠点として,国際金融機能や外資系企業の地域本社も集中した。シドニー都心部およびその周辺部ではオフィスと高層コンドミニアムを組み合わせた複合的な再開発事業が数多く行われ,ダーリングハーバー地区,ワールドスクエア地区,さらにはシドニー湾を越えてノース・シドニーへのバックオフィスの拡大などが急速に進展した。表1は,ABSが提供する国勢調査のうち,前回2006年実施および最新の2011年実施のデータに着目し,同局が提供するデータのカスタマイズ機能(Table Builder)を用いて,過去5年間の人口移動を集計したものである。表中のMarrickville (A)とSydney (C)-South の2つのSLA(≒中統計区)は,いずれもシドニーのCBDに隣接した近接性の高い地区であり,近年の現地の新聞等でも急速なジェントリフィケーションが引き起こす様々な社会問題について報道される機会の多い地区である。2006年から2011年にかけて住所変更のない住民は約40%にすぎず,それ以外の住人は過去5年の間に当該地区に流入してきた。図1(2006年)および図2(2011年)は,各年次の国勢調査の小統計区を対象に,世帯収入(常住地)に基づいて世帯数を集計し,週給2,000豪ドル(≒19万円,年収約1,000万円以上,@95円/豪ドル換算)以上の割合を示したものである。これらの図によると,2006年の段階では高所得者の割合の高い地区はシドニー湾に面した(とくに北部の)眺望のよい地区が中心であったが,わずか5年後の2011年には,シドニーのCBD(図中★)の西南西約3kmのNewtown地区や約3km南のWaterloo地区を中心に,各統計区内に占める高所得者の割合が50%を越える地区が急増した様子がみてとれる。こうした急速なジェントリフィケーションの進展により,立ち退きを余儀なくされる住民も少なくない。紙面の都合により,社会・経済的な特徴の詳細については当日報告する。

Selenium is an essential micronutrient for humans, and seafood is one of the major selenium source in Japan. Recent studies show that the tissues of tuna and other predatory fish contain high levels of the selenium-containing imidazole compound, 2-selenyl-Nα, Nα, Nα-trimethyl-L-histidine (selenoneine). A substantial proportion of the total amount of selenium is present as selenoneine in the muscles of ocean fish. Selenoneine contains an imidazole ring with a unique selenoketone group and has an antioxidant activity in vitro and in vivo. The dietary intake of selenoneine through fish consumption is thought to be important for enhancing selenium redox functions in tissues and cells. In addition, selenoneine accelerated the excretion and demethylation of methylmercury through the formation of secretory extracellular lysosomal vesicles via the specific organic cation/carnitine transporter-1 (OCTN1). Dietary intake of selenoneine might decrease the formation of hydroxyl and other radicals and accelerate the excretion of heavy metals, and thereby inhibit carcinogenesis, lifestyle chronic diseases, and aging.

日本の方言は,これまで多くの先行研究によって,語彙・文法・音韻などの違いから,種々に分類されてきた.構造言語学的な体系的基準による分析は当然行われるべきことであるが,現実の言語行動において,実際に使用された頻度を考慮した分類も重要であると考える.そこで,本研究では,自然談話における拍のbigramの頻度データを使用し,近隣結合法を用いた系統樹を作成して,各地方言の分類を行った.その結果,北アルプスを境として,東西に分かれ,岐阜と愛知は共に西に分類できた.次に,東西の方言における拍bigramの特徴を見るために,比率差の検定を行ったところ,東では「ンダ・ネー・ダカ・ッテ・ダッ・ダヨ・ガラ」,西では「ナー・モー・(u)ーテ・ホイ・ンヤ・ンジャ・ソヤ」が,有意な差が見られる拍bigramとして上位に抽出された.

【目的】画像上著明な脊髄圧迫所見を認める頚椎椎間板ヘルニア症例において,保存的加療が可能であった1例を経験したので報告する.【症例】48歳女性.特に誘因なく後頚部から両肩にかけての激しい痛みと両手指のしびれ感が出現し,発症10日目に当科を受診した.筋力は保たれていたが,MR像にてC3/4正中型のヘルニアによる高度の脊髄の圧迫を認め,疼痛が強く手術を希望したが,2週間のカラーキーパー装着で疼痛半減したために,保存的に経過をみた.発症後2ヶ月のMR像でヘルニアは縮小し,7ヶ月後には完全に消退,頚部痛と両手指のしびれ感も消失した.【考察】腰椎椎間板ヘルニアの自然消退に対するメカニズムは明らかとなっているが,頚椎椎間板ヘルニアでの報告は少なく,本症例のように高度の脊髄圧迫を示した報告は限られる.短期間で症状の軽快を示すような症例の中にはヘルニアの自然消退が得られる可能性がある.

Foot ulcers due to diabetes or/and arteriosclerosis obliterans frequently result in an intractable condition which is refractory to treatment. In order to overcome such a condition, establishing a treatment modality based on the tissue, infection/inflammation, moisture balance, and edge of wound (TIME) concept to clinically perform wound bed preparation (WBP), as advocated by Schulz, is important. Therefore, the following steps are essential: 1) control and treat the disease-causing chronic wounds and 2) evaluate the wounds as per the TIME concept and perform local treatment at the proper timing. The core of this treatment concept is considered to be debridement. Debridement is a procedure carried out to protect the surrounding tissue by cleaning the wound of infectious and necrotic tissues, and this is crucial for chronic foot diseases. Our current strategy consists of two steps: initial medical treatment and subsequent aggressive treatment of the lesion. Our method of performing maintenance debridement, using trafermin spray and aggressive conservative therapy using NPWT, makes TIME-based wound bed preparation possible. Proper debridement at the proper time contributes to the success of this treatment. In this paper, we report the essential factors for debridement and our methods of debridement.

Infectious disease with various presentations in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) often resembles lupus flare. A 37-year-old woman presented with a swollen left index finger that had not resolved, despite 7 years of immunosuppressive treatment. MRI showed rice-body formation in the flexor tendon sheath and tenosynovectomy demonstrated chronic synovitis with epithelioid granuloma. A mycobacterial culture confirmed invasive mycobacterial tenosynovitis due to Mycobacterium chelonae. The patient was treated with moxifloxacin and clarithromycin and completely recovered.

From ancient times, mountains have been worshiped in Japan. Mt. Fuji is archetypal, and the stone huts that served its pilgrims can be regarded as the original form of current mountain huts. Nowadays, since Mt. Fuji is a World Cultural Heritage site, its huts are required to be historically based. Although some historical materials describe the stone huts that existed from the Edo to the beginning of the Showa era, the changes stone huts underwent during the era of tourism after the establishment of Fuji Hakone National Park remain unclear. To investigate these changes, we examined historical materials, held interviews, and conducted field surveys on the Yoshida trail, from where great numbers of pilgrims who belonged to Fuji-ko societies made worship-ascent. In Showa 6, the National Park Act was established to preserve the natural landscape, promote the welfare of the people, and attract foreign tourists. In Taisho 12, Mt. Fuji became a candidate for inclusion into the park. Yamanashi Prefecture and local people embarked on campaigns to establish the park and increase tourism. In Showa 11, Fuji Hakone National Park was established. During the Pacific War, national parks were used as training grounds. An increase in the number of climbers training and ascending Mt. Fuji to pray for victory was observed. Under these conditions, the stone huts that seemed to have kept their original form since the Edo era underwent gradual changes. Traditionally, huts had a wooden frame structure and were covered with wooden boards. Stones were piled on the roof and around the walls, which had one or two sweep-out windows. From the prewar to the postwar period, almost all stone huts changed their fa?ade by incorporating waist-high windows. Furthermore, some of the piled-up stones were removed on about half of the huts, and exposed wooden boards were either covered or replaced with galvanized iron. About 3 years after the war, tourism in Yamanashi Prefecture returned to prewar levels. In Showa 27 and 39, a mountain bus line and the Fuji Subaru Line (a motorway) serviced the fifth station, dramatically changing the approach to climbing Mt. Fuji on the Yoshida trail. The wooden huts and sections of the trail below the fifth station fell into disrepair, while more than half of the stone huts above the fifth station were either newly constructed or renovated. The traditional floor plan of the stone huts had a main room (hiroma), which had wooden floors and a fireplace. The newer huts had larger dimensions and eave heights compared with huts at the end of the Edo era. Three patterns of change were evident. First, new huts were built with a roof truss structure (yogoya). Second, the new huts were built beside traditional stone huts with Japanese-style roof structures (wagoya). Third, stone huts were renovated. Almost all of the stone huts introduced the roof truss structure to allow for an open floor plan, waist-high windows for an open fa?ade, double bunks to accommodate more climbers, and new facilities, such as water filtration systems and curtains to ensure the safety and privacy of climbers. A questionnaire survey in Showa 30 showed that only 2% of climbers were on religious pilgrimages, indicating that the changes to the stone huts were in response to the growing tourism industry. In the Edo era, stone huts were a kind of symbol of Mt. Fuji religious pilgrimages; however, in the early Showa era of tourism, the owners of the stone huts removed the stones as they modernized their huts.

Data from the continuous observations of 4 shallow snow events (echo top < 8 km) and 2 deep events (> 10 km) were obtained by the C-band vertically pointing radar with frequency modulation continuous wave technology (VPR-CFMCW) with extremely high resolution during the winter of 2015-2016 in middle latitudes of China. Generating cells (GCs) were found near the cloud top in each event. Reflectivity (Z), radial velocity (Vr), the vertical gradient of Z (dZ/dh, h is the vertical distance) and Vr (dVr/dh) showed different vertical distribution characteristics between the upper GC and lower stratiform (St) regions. The fall streaks (FSs) associated with GCs were embedded in the St regions. In the deep events, the proportions of GC regions were slightly larger, but the average contributions to the growth of Z (33 %) were lower than those in the shallow events (42 %). The average dZ/dh were usually 2-3 times larger inside GCs and FSs compared to outside. Bimodal Doppler spectra were used to establish the relationships between the Z and the reflectivity-weighted particle fall speed (Vz) for the 2 regions. The vertical air velocity (Wa) and Vz were then retrieved. The results show that both updraft and downdraft were alternately observed in GC regions. GC locations usually accompanied strong upward air motions, with average speeds mostly distributed around 1.2 m s−1, while downward air motions often appeared between GCs. In the St regions, the speeds of Wa were mainly within 0.5 m s−1. The upper areas of the St regions consisted primarily of weak upward motions, while weak downward motions dominated the lower areas. There was no apparent difference in Wa inside and outside the FSs. The average Vz was slightly larger inside GCs and FSs compared to outside, with the differences of 0.1-0.3 m s−1 and 0.2-0.4 m s−1 respectively.

失語症患者における言語性保続の発生に関係する要因を明らかにするために連続呼称課題を実施し, 語の意味的・音韻的関連性と刺激提示の時間間隔 (RSI: Response Stimulus Interval) から検討した。また言語性保続の発生と脳病変部位の関係について検討した。対象は失語症患者 14 名 (全例右利き) であった。方法は 60 語からなるリストを3 種類 (意味的関連, 音韻的関連, 無関連) 作成し, RSI 1 秒と RSI 15 秒で語を連続的に呼称させた。その結果, 言語性保続は意味的関連リストと RSI 1 秒の条件で有意に多く発生した。左前頭葉病変群は他の病変群より意味的関連語を RSI 15 秒で連続的に呼称する際に多くの言語性保続を呈した。以上から語の意味的関連と RSI が言語性保続の発生に影響を及ぼし, 左前頭葉における意味情報の調整機能低下が言語性保続の発生に関与すると考えられた。
