敗戦後に公布された法律、たとえば姦通罪を廃止した改正刑法、あるいは優生保護法などが文学に与えた影響は決して小さなものではなかった。しかし1958 年から完全に施行された売春防止法が文学に与えた影響については、これまでさほど論じられて来なかった。本稿では、敗戦後に小田原にあった抹香町という「淫売窟」を舞台に数々の作品を発表し、ブームにまでなった川崎長太郎の諸作品を読むことを通して、売春防止法と文学の関わりの一側面について考察することを試みた。「娼婦」一般ではなく、ひとりの女の肉体を通して売春防止法と対峙した私小説家の姿は、売春防止法以後の買売春と文学の関わりを考える上でも、看過することのできないものである。

1950 年に発表された「抹香町」以降、徐々に醸成されていった川崎長太郎のブームは、平野謙が「新事態」と呼んだように、マスメディアの時代における文学について再考を促すものだった。本稿は、『自選全集』にも収録されず読まれないままになっている川崎の作品が、先行作品のメタ言説となっていることを明らかにし、次いでその作品を享受した女性読者を分析することで、1950 年代における小説(家)と読者の関わりの一端をあきらかにすることを試みたものである。

Chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) is a disease characterized by chronic, profound, disabling, and unexplained fatigue. Although it is hypothesized that inflammation in the CNS is involved in the pathophysiology of CFS/ME, there were no direct evidence of neuroinflammation in patients with CFS/ME. Activation of microglia and/or astrocytes is related to neuroinflammation. Our recent PET study successfully demonstrated that neuroinflammation (activation of microglia and astrocytes) is present in widespread brain regions in patients with CFS/ME, and is associated with the severity of neuropsychological symptoms. Evaluation of neuroinflammation in patients with CFS/ME may be essential for understanding the core pathophysiology, as well as for developing the objective diagnostic criteria and effective medical treatments for CFS/ME. We here describe related pathophysiological findings and topics, and mention the diagnostic and therapeutic attempts through these findings in Japan.

Abstract: We herein report the rare case of a patient who developed cerebellar infarction due to vertebral artery dissection, initially suspected as a perilymph fistula, immediately after a bout of sneezing. A 61-year-old man developed spontaneous vertigo and tinnitus immediately after a bout of sneezing. Initially there were no obvious findings on head CT, and he was referred to our department as a probable case of peripheral vestibular dysfunction. Since left hearing loss and rightward nystagmus were observed, we initially made the diagnosis of perilymph fistula. However, a repeat CT revealed cerebellar infarction of the region supplied by the posterior inferior cerebellar artery with vertebral artery dissection. This patient had complex mixed symptoms, including peripheral vestibular findings and central nervous system findings. We speculated that this patient might have had infarction of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery region, accompanied by decrease of the blood flow in the anterior inferior cerebellar artery, which caused hearing loss.

Although high dietary iodine intake due to consumption of edible kelp (kombu) is observed, there are few health problems associated with iodine in Japan. Since several kinds of isoflavones contained in soybeans act as goitrogens, the consumption of soybean may modify the adverse effects of excess iodine derived from kombu. In the present study, to clarify the effects of eating soybean meal on thyroid function and tissue distribution of iodine, we measured iodine content of serum and several organs in rats fed casein diet or soybean meal diet with or without kombu powder. Four types of experimental diet (casein diet, casein diet with 5% kombu, soybean meal diet, soybean meal diet with 5% kombu) were prepared using dried kombu powder (Saccharina diabolica; iodine content, 7.18 mg/g). Twenty-four male 4-week-old Wistar rats were divided into four groups and fed these four diets for four weeks each. No significant differences were observed in animal growth, thyroid weights, serum total thyroxine, triiodothyronine and thyroid stimulating hormone concentrations among the four groups. Irrespective of dietary protein (casein or soybean), the iodine content in thyroid gland of all four groups was significantly increased to a similar level by the administration of kombu. Iodine concentrations in serum, liver and kidney were also increased by the kombu, but the increases of iodine in these tissues were significantly lower in rats fed soybean than in those fed casein indicating that soybean meal reduced the content of iodine in serum, liver and kidney. These results suggest that the consumption of soybean products could prevent the manifestation of adverse effects due to an excess iodine intake from kombu.

本研究は, 江戸時代の古地図の実測, 江戸時代の資料および火除地等に関する関連調査研究の文献調査および延焼遮断帯効果算定法を用いて火災想定による効果計算をおこない, 火除地等について都市防火対策上の機能について実証的な解明を試みたものである。その結果, 火除地等は大火の延焼を防ぐもの, 大火に成長することを防ぐもの, 橋や門を防衛し, 避難誘導に活用するもの等, その目的に応じて合理的な形態と防火性能を持って配置されていることが明らかになった。

スペインによる新大陸の植民地化事業は,メキシコとアンデスの軍事的制圧と統治機構の整備が一段落したのち,北米南西部,アマゾン川流域,パラグアイなどの辺境地域へ前線を進めていく。当時,それらの地域には大規模な政治組織は存在せず,先住民はいくつもの小規模な集団に分裂し,互いに戦争を繰り返していた。17 世紀以降,辺境地域の植民地化を委託された修道会は,先住民の戦争を福音伝道の障害とみなし,それに終止符を打とうとした。「平和の天使」を自称する宣教師は,戦争を終結し平和をもたらすことで,キリスト教的規範に則した社会を建設しようとした。本論は,宣教師の言明とは反対に,ミッション建設事業が戦争の否定のうえに成り立つのではなく,むしろ戦争を拡張の原動力として内部に取り込んでいたことを証明するものである。ミッションとは,戦争を通じて異教徒を包摂し,拡張することを存在目的とする捕食的拡張組織なのである。After the native kingdoms of Mexico and the Andes were conquered andthe colonial regime was firmly established, the Spanish colonization of Americaof Peace", the missionaries tried to end war, bring peace and construct a societythat accords perfectly with the Christian norms and ideals. This article,however, makes the opposite claim from that of the missionaries, namely thattheir enterprise turned out to be successful because it was based, not on thenegation of war, but on its affirmation. The article seeks to prove that war wasthe prime mover of the missions' expansive movement. The missions werein reality organizations of predatory expansion whose raison d'être was toinvade, incorporate and expand.proceeded to the frontier regions such as the North American Southwest, theAmazonia, Paraguay, etc. In these regions the Spaniards found no large-scalepolitical organizations. The native population was fragmented into a largenumber of small settlements that were constantly at war among themselves.From the 17th century, the religious orders assumed the task of colonizing thefrontiers. In recent years, electroless nickel coatings have been extensively used for various purposes in many fields of industry and a wide variety of functions have been required of the electroless nickel deposits. In this study, an electroless nickel plating bath operated at relatively low temperature has been developed, and the effects of certain factors (temperature, pH, and concentration of acetate and hypophosphite) on the deposition rate and phosphorous content of the electroless nickel deposits have been investigated in some detail. Deposits with phosphorus contents higher than 9wt% were found to be amorphous and to have improved properties with respect to tensile strength and corrosion resistance. The addition of an unsaturated compound such as maleate having a double bond will reduce the molar ratio of hydrogen gas to deposited Ni-P alloy, and also increase the phosphorus content of the deposits.
