近年,インターネット上での映像配信サービスの普及に伴い,映像トラヒックの増加によるネットワークへの影響が懸念されている.ネットワーク資源を有効活用する方法として,配信サーバを広域に分散配備することやキャッシュサーバの適用,IPマルチキャスト配信など多くの技術が利用されてきたが,従来の手法はトラヒックの急激な増減に柔軟に対応することが困難である.そこで本稿では,ネットワーク状況に応じて負荷分散方式を動的に変更し、ネットワークや配信サーバの負荷を低減する動的負荷分散制御方式について提案し,シミュレーションにより有効性を明確化する.

In the story of Jataka 316, a hare jumps into fire to offer his own body as broiled meat. This is a story of extreme self-sacrifice. The hare does this extreme act in order to satisfy a condition for becoming a buddha. This story was transmitted to Japan and adapted as konjakumonogatari-shu(今昔物語集) 5.13. However, its keystone has changed. The Japanese hare is not interested in becoming a buddha. Instead, the hare aims to acquire makoto-no-kokoro (誠ノ心 sincere heart): one who is possessed of it is said to defer his own profit to the interest of others.

近年,中心市街地の活力低下等が問題となっている中で,町の活気を取り戻すというような事例も見られる.こうした成功事例に着目し,如何にしてその成功が導かれたのかについての一般的知見を得ることは,今後のまちづくりにおいて有益であると考えられる.その知見を得る方法として,これまでは定量的な分析を行う自然科学的な手法が多く用いられてきたが,まちづくりに関わった人々の思いを理解するためには,“物語”を解釈するという解釈学的な方法論を用いることが求められる.本研究では,まちづくりの成功事例として挙げられる埼玉県川越市を対象として,まちづくりの様々な関係者にインタビューを行う.そして,それらを通じて“物語”を構成し,その解釈によって「川越まちづくり」が成功に至った要因を論ずる.

Atlas is a pulsed-power facility under development at Los Alamos National Laboratory to drive high-energy density experiments. Atlas will be operational in the summer of 2000 and is optimized for the study of dynamic material properties, hydrodynamics, and dense plasmas under extreme conditions. Atlas is designed to implode heavy-liner loads in a z-pinch configuration. The peak current of 30 MA is delivered in 4 $\mu$s. A typical Atlas liner is a 47-gram-aluminum cylinder with ${\sim}4$-cm radius and 4-cm length. Three to five MJ of kinetic energy will be delivered to the load. Using composite layers and a variety of interior target designs, a wide variety of experiments in ${\sim}\text{cm}^{3}$ volumes will be performed. Atlas applications, machine design, and the status of the project are reviewed.

We found a significant correlation between people's preference for Japanese miso and their susceptibility to mental and/or physical stress. We selected two kinds of Japanese miso, red miso and white miso. A sensory evaluation based on ANOVA revealed that miso preference significantly correlates to a mental feeling of depression (p=0.026). The feeling of depression among the examinees with a preference for red miso was lower level than that among those who had a preference for white miso. Furthermore, we attempted to classify the degree of depression into 3 levels in order to make a crosstable. Another evaluation (chi-square) on the table showed almost the same results (p=0.041). The results seem to be due to the characteristics of the ingredients of red miso.

In Michael Ondaatje's The English Patient, books play an important role. The patient's copy of Herodotus's Histories, which is twice as its original thickness with cuttings from other books glued into the text and his own writings in its margins, suggests a contrapuntal reading, to use Edward Said's terminology. Rudyard Kipling's novel Kim is read by the two protagonists in the novel, and another character, Kirpal Singh, a young Sikh with the Royal Engineers, was created as a counterpart to Kim. The narrative of Kim echoes in that of Kip and invites readers to focus on the issue of identity and to reread Kim in a new perspective. The peaceful life of the four expatriates in a near ruin in Florence, which Ondaatje calls an Eden, is destroyed by the news of the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. For Kip it symbolizes an undeniable striation which divides the world between East and West. It triggered him to question his identity as a sapper of Royal Army. By creating a counterpart to Kipling's Kim, Ondaatje succeeded in enhancing the issue of identity in the striated world, against which the patient fights all through his life.

The freshwater heteronemertean Apatronemertes albimaculosa Wilfert and Gibson, 1974 has previously been reported from Germany, Austria, and the USA. All these records were from aquarium tanks with commercially distributed tropical and/or subtropical water plants; by hiding among their roots, the worms are thought to have been introduced from an unidentified place of origin. We report the occurrence of A. albimaculosa for the first time from Japan, based on specimens found in private home aquaria for guppy breeding, with a total of 18 species of water plants grown for different periods and lengths of time but not all at the same time. Histological examination confirmed the presence of diagnostic features of this species, including a complex precerebral vascular system and hermaphroditism. The partial sequence of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene (607 bp) of the Japanese material is identical with that of a heteronemertean specimen from a freshwater tank in Madrid, Spain, which had been deposited in the public databases but left unidentified as to its species, genus, or family. Apatronemertes albimaculosa appears unlikely to be able to survive below 10°C for more than about a week, which suggests that its native locality is in the tropics or subtropics, not the temperate zone. The barcoding sequence herein determined will serve in future studies to help locate the natural place of origin.

2004年12月15日,政府中央防災会議は首都直下地震が発生した場合の被害想定を公表した。一番切迫しているとされる東京湾北部地震(M7.3)では,東京都東部から千葉県北西部にかけて震度6強の激震に襲われ,建物被害が85万棟,死者は1万1000人に達し,負傷者は20万人,生き埋めなどで自力脱出できない人は4万4000人,帰宅困難者は日中で650万人が見込まれるとした。切迫地震に対する早急なる対策の重要性が提示されたと言える。本研究の目的は,これら緊急性を鑑みたうえで,直下型地震などの大規模災害時における民間組織の応急体制の質と量を検証し,大規模災害時の被害抑止,特に,人的被害の震害連鎖を遮断するルートと要因を分析することにある。具体的な研究方法は,阪神・淡路大震災における"生活協同組合コープこうべ"が自治体と締結していた「災害時緊急物資協定」に注目し,都市部が被災地となった緊急時の応急生活物資供給の支援と初動救援体制の役割と効果を検証する。この結果から,大規模災害時の被害抑止となるべき応急対応のあり方と,災害に強い社会作りへのシステムを政策提案する。

「肥満とやせの判定表」は現在の日本人の性別,年齢階級別,身長別体重分布にもとついて作られ,合理的で,今後普及すると予想されるが,性,年齢に関係なく一本の数値でまとめられた「あなたの体重表」に比べ,加齢による体脂肪量増加が含まれているので,やせ方向に判定される傾向がある。体重による肥満判定には,体脂肪量が推定出来る背+上腕皮脂厚測定を併用する必要があり,これを併用すれば人間ドックの肥満判定にも使用出来ると考えられる。

This research compared the effects of messages with and without emoticons from a familiar friend on the reduction of intensity of emotions, the relationship between changes in emotions, and the impact of emoticons on text messages. In particular, the effect of messages with one of five emoticons { (^_^) (;_;) (>_<) (^_^;) m(_ _)m } and messages with no emoticons, on four emotional scripts, happy, sad, angry, and anxious, were compared. Using their own cell phones, university students (n=33) participated in this study by reporting emotional intensity when they were in each script. They again reported emotional intensity after receiving a text message with emoticons from a familiar friend. Results indicated that (1) messages with emoticons reduced the intensity of the receiver's negative emotions in comparison to messages without emoticons; and (2) when receivers were feeling angry or happy, a significant relationship was found between the impact of emoticons and the reduction in the intensity of emotions, expect when receivers were feeling anxious or sad. Results suggest that appropriate selection from emoticons reduces the intensity of the receiver's negative emotions.

This survey monitored the quantity and distribution of egg clutches of Tohoku salamander (Hynobius lichenatus) in the tsunami inundated lowland area from the period 2012 to 2015, looking at the case of Moune district, Kesennuma city, Miyagi prefecture, Japan. After the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake, lowland area almost changed into wetlands by erosion and land subsidence, and seawater ran into a part of the lowland. Lots of egg clutches were found in the whole area in 2012. However several egg clutches deposited in brackish-water were dead. After 2013, the number of egg clutches declined, and the distribution moved inland. The number of egg clutches roughly increased in 2015, indicating the meta-population of Tohoku salamander’s resilience against temporary disturbance caused by the tsunami. Models of relations analyzed between the numbers of egg clutches in each year showed larger population had higher resilience and the numbers of dead egg clutches had negative correlation to the total numbers of egg clutches in late years. Results indicated that the environmental changes after the tsunami had more severe impacts on the population’s survival. However the population of Tohoku salamander had resilience under the natural state. This resilience may be weakened by man-made induced environmental changes and habitat loss from the tsunami recovery and reconstruction works. Hence, the need for conservation and monitoring was suggested.

ユーザーイノベーションに関連する研究は、非常に多岐な分野へと広がっている。それに伴って、ユーザーイノベーションを起こせるような先駆的な顧客、所謂リードユーザーの特定が着目されている。本稿では、①はじめてリードユーザーを特定し、②特定したリードユーザーが考案した製品コンセプトを評価するプロセスを構築し、第三者から高い評価を得ることの二つの貢献をした Urban and von Hippel (1988) の解説と評論を試みる。その上で後続の研究を確認し、リードユーザーによって生み出された製品コンセプトが本当に優れているのかについて疑問を提示していく。

発達障害に対する正しい認識と適切な支援を導くために、広汎性発達障害児と注意欠陥多動性障害児を中心にして、発達障害児の非行行動発生にかかわる要因について研究動向を整理し、問題点と今後の改善点を指摘した。先行研究からは、個体の障害特性に密接にかかわる非行行動の危険因子と障害を取り巻く環境の危険因子が指摘された。だが、危険因子に着目した取り組みは、非行行動にかかわって発達障害児本人と親・関係者に対する支援を進める際の社会的意義を十分に達成できない問題点がある。その改善点として、非行行動の保護因子の導入と発達障害児の内面世界への着目が挙げられた。
