Specimens of the coastal marine fish leech Limnotrachelobdella okae (Moore, 1924) were collected from the pelvic fins and lateral body surface of big-scaled redfin, Pseudaspius hakonensis (Günther, 1877), in two brackish water lakes, Lake Tofutsu and Lake Abashiri, on the Sea of Okhotsk coast, Hokkaido, northern Japan. The external morphology of the specimens is briefly described, and the two lakes represent new locality records for the leech. Similarly to coastal marine waters, inshore brackish water lakes are suggested to be a habitat in which L. okae can complete its life cycle. Seasonal occurrence of the species may differ between subarctic Hokkaido and three temperate regions of Japan (Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu). The role of big-scaled redfin and its congener, Pacific redfin, Pseudaspius brandtii (Dybowski, 1872), in transporting L. okae alive from the coastal sea to brackish and fresh water bodies is discussed in terms of their diadromous migration ecology.

This article highlights the social concept of pollution or impurity and its use as a justification for discrimination and exclusion. First, the history of the concept of pollution is reviewed. Second, a development of two scales measuring the tendency towards pollution related thoughts, the Purity Orientation–Pollution Avoidance (POPA) Scale and the Avoidance of Resentment Scale (ARS), is explained. Third, an experimental study using these scales is introduced. Then, the relationships between four purity/pollution factors and exclusive behaviors were investigated using structural equation modelling. The results revealed that the pollution avoidance tendency enhances anxious feeling towards immigrants, but this relationship is mediated by a type of belief that “natural things are the best,” which stems from pollution avoidance motivation. Finally, this article summarizes how the concept of pollution can cause discriminations and exclusions, and discusses solutions for the problem.

『身体障害者補助犬法の衛生確保のための健康管理ガイドライン』の中では、補助犬の整毛について定めている。しかし犬の被毛・抜け毛に関する研究はあまり行われていない。本研究では犬の抜け落ちる毛について3 つの実験を行った。実験に使う犬の毛の量は多量であるため、被毛0.03g あたりの本数を数え、1gあたりの本数を推測した。その結果、犬の被毛1 gあたりの本数は約32700 本であった。また犬に服を着せた状態と、服を着せていない状態で抜ける毛の本数を比較した。その結果、犬に服を着せた状態で150本程度、服を着せていない状態では230 本程度の被毛が抜け落ちることがわかった。これより、着衣によって通常の4 割近く被毛が落ちるのを防ぐことができると言える。さらに、掃除方法による抜け毛の回収率を比較した。その結果、床や畳の場合は手で払うだけでほとんどの抜け毛を回収できることや、粘着カーペットクリーナーと掃除機はどのような素材でも回収率が高いことなどが確認された。

Shrug exercise, which is one of the treatments for stiff shoulder and rotator cuff tear, is commonly performed. This exercise is also performed to relax the shoulder after surgery for rotator cuff repair. The effectiveness of shrug exercise for the rotator cuff has not been analyzed. The purpose of this study was to analyze the shrug exercise and to evaluate the usefulness of the shrug. Five asymptomatic male volunteers who had no history of shoulder abnormalities were examined. SSP (supraspinatus) muscle was measured by fine-wire electrodes and ISP (infraspinatus) muscle was measured by surface electrodes. At the time of non-shrug (group N) and shrug (group S), %MVC (maximal voluntary contraction) was calculated in the position of 0, 30, 60, 90 degrees flexion. %MVC of SSP in the position of 0,30,60,90 degrees flexion were 2,8,13,15% in group N, and 32,35,23,32% in group S. %MVC of SSP were increased at each angle. %MVC of ISP were 6,16,25,38% in group N, and 10,17,25,42% in group S. It has been reported that %MVC over 20% is high activity. %MVC of SSP showed over 20% at shrug position in this study, which was considered that shrug motion caused eccentric contraction of SSP muscle with the scapula elevating. From this study, it is considered that shrug excise is useful for cuff training, but may be overloaded on SSP in the early stage after surgery.

DSM-IVにおける複数のパーソナリティ障害(PD)の合併診断の頻度の高さが問題視されている。本研究では,依存性をその診断基準の一部に含み,複数の先行研究でオーバーラップが示唆されている境界性・依存性・回避性PD傾向間の共通点および相違点を数量的に検討した。調査対象者は,大学生・大学院生216名であった。PD傾向の測定には,日本語版SCID-II(高橋・大曾根訳,2002)および中澤(2004a)の大学生用PD傾向尺度(10PesT)における境界性・依存性・回避性PDに関する項目を用いた。結果から,これらのPD傾向は,自分の判断や考えに自信がなく,他者の目を気にするがあまりに自己開示を抑制する点でオーバーラップしていることが示された。また,境界性・依存性PD傾向のそれぞれに特有の特徴も明らかにされたが,回避性PD傾向特有の特徴は本研究からは明らかにされなかった。これらの結果から,境界性・依存性・回避性PD傾向の背景にある特性および潜在因子の特徴について考察を行った。

心臓原発未分化多形成肉腫はきわめて稀な心臓悪性腫瘍であり,その予後はきわめて不良である.症例は当院初診時47歳の女性,45歳時に労作時呼吸困難で前医を受診し,心臓エコー検査で左心房に巨大腫瘍を認め切除術を行った.初回手術後の病理検査で未分化多形成肉腫と診断された.その後再発を繰り返し当院で4回の再手術を施行し,Pazopanib投与による化学療法を併施した.初回手術より5年の長期生存が可能となったのでこれを報告する.

Since 14th century, in Venice there were the numerous noble palaces converted into the hotel. This custom is remarkable, particularly, in Venice and it continues also during all 19th century, while in the other European cities were built many grand hotels as a new hotel building typology. Finally, at the beginnings of the 20th century, on the Lido beach it starts to build some international Grand Hotel style architecture. Instead in Venice it begins to construct other new hotels, on-line of the reminiscence of the local traditional historical style. After the Second World War, also now, once more in Venice it is the fashion of conversion into hotels from the historical buildings of many different types.
