1960年代にわが国で脚光を浴びた慢性上咽頭炎が近年,耳鼻咽喉科の枠を越えて再び注目を集めつつある.その理由は上咽頭の慢性炎症が後鼻漏,咽頭痛,咽頭違和感等の局所症状に留まらず,慢性疲労,起立性調節障害,過敏性腸症候群等の神経・内分泌系異常を介した症状,IgA腎症の急性増悪,掌蹠膿疱症,反応性関節炎等の自己免疫機序を介した症状等,実に多彩な臨床症状を呈することにある.そして,塩化亜鉛溶液を浸した綿棒を用いた上咽頭擦過療法(Epipharyngeal Abrasive Therapy,EAT)が様々な全身症状の改善に寄与することが再認識されつつある.過去20年の間に神経系と免疫系の連関メカニズムが次々と解明され,最近では迷走神経刺激装置を用いる神経反射を介した免疫疾患や神経疾患への臨床応用も登場し注目されている.上咽頭は神経線維が豊富で迷走神経が投射しており,EATの効果には類似の作用機序が関与していることが推察される.また,脳リンパ路が脳代謝産物の排泄路として重要な役割を果たすことが最近明らかとなったが,上咽頭はこの排泄路の要所であり,EATの瀉血作用を介した鬱血状態の軽減が脳リンパ路の機能改善に繋がると推定される.すなわち,塩化亜鉛溶液による炎症部位の収斂作用のみでなく,上咽頭擦過による迷走神経刺激と瀉血による鬱血・リンパ鬱滞の改善がEATの作用機序として関与していることが推察される.上咽頭は単なる空気の通り道ではなく,神経系・免疫系・内分泌系に影響を及ぼす,いわば全身の「健康の土台」を担う重要部位である.慢性上咽頭炎はこの「健康の土台」が傾いた状態であり,その是正は関連疾患・症状の改善のみならず疾病予防という見地からも重要である.慢性上咽頭炎の治療手段として現状ではEATがBenefit/Risk比の高い処置であるが,慢性上咽頭炎が内包する多様な病態の科学的解明とそれに基づいた新規治療法の開発が医学・医療のブレイクスルーにつながると期待する.

A steam explosion occurred at about 14:30 JST, February 11th, 1995, in the hot-spring area near Yakedake volcano, central Japan. More than six workers were near the site of the explosion for the road construction, and four of them were buried by the ejected material and killed. A small initial explosion began at the bottom of a 4m deep moat dug by a backhoe and it was followed by the maximum explosion, which ejected about 6,000m3 of blocks (maximum length is more than 2m) and mud, with steam and volcanic gas. The ejecta contain gravels of welded tuff, granite and mesozoic sedimentary rocks, which are the components of a pyroclastic dike of Pliocene age, and pumiceous lapilli tuff derived from the terrace sediments covering the pyroclastic dike. The explosion caused a landslide from the western cliff and the vent was buried by the slid debris, most of which was blown away by the second explosion. All of these processes took place within a few minutes. A small depression (20×5m2) on the west of the mound of the ejecta may represent part of the vent; its depth is estimated to be about 60m or more. Gaseous S02(<30ppm) and H2S(<90ppm) were detected at the explosion site for three days after the explosion. The chemical composition of gas collected from the holes drilled after the explosion were nearly same as the gas from the summit crater of the Yakedake volcano. Because a wall-like Low-Q zone is suggested by seismologists beneath Yakedake volcano and the explosion site, it is most probable that there existed a magma beneath the explosion site and that the heat for the explosion was supplied by the magma and gas exsolved from the magma.

フリマアプリなどの普及に伴い,一次流通の店頭でオンラインの二次流通市場の販売価格を調べてから購入する,二次流通市場での売却を念頭に置いて一次流通で購入する,といった新しい消費者の購買行動が広がりつつある。本研究では二次流通市場における売却価格や成約までの日数といった条件が,一次流通市場の購買にどのような影響を及ぼすか検討する。ジーンズとタブレットの二つの製品カテゴリに関する約1,600名の調査回答者に対してコンジョイント分析を行った結果,一次流通市場における選択においては一次流通価格や所有製品との適合の度合いが依然として重要ではあるものの,二次流通市場において価格が下落しないことは消費者の効用を高め, 当該商品が選択される可能性が高まることが明らかになった。また,フリマアプリの利用状況によって属性の部分効用値が異なり,フリマアプリの売り手は一次流通市場において価格感度が低く,二次流通市場における条件に相対的に強く反応することが明らかになった。本研究の結果は二次流通価格に占める一次流通価格の割合の上昇は,一次流通市場における支払意思額を押し上げる効果があることを示唆している。

We investigated the relationships between the renal excretion ratio (RR) and changes in drug exposure in patients with renal dysfunction (RD), to examine the usefulness of RR in determining the optimal dosage for patients with renal dysfunction.The area under the plasma concentration time curve ratios (AUC ratios: AUCRs = AUCRD/AUCNormal) of 52 out of 70 drugs was observed within 67-150% of the theoretical values calculated by the Giusti-Hayton method using the RR value. It was confirmed that the RR is useful for determining the optimal dosage of extensively renally excreted drugs for patients with RD. However, it should be noted that the AUCRs were more than 150 % of the theoretical value for some orally administrated drugs that are excreted renally but less extensively. Especially, for substrates of OATP1B1 or OATP1B3, the AUCRs of four out of five drugs were more than 150%. Substrates of metabolizing enzymes and other transporters showed less relevance in this regard.

The reproductive emergence of Philometroides seriolae (ISHII, 1931) YAMAGUTI, 1935(nematode) from the yellowtail, Seriola quinqueradiata, was observed in a large exhibition tank of the Ohita Marine Palace from the middle of August to the beginning of September, 1969. From the observations the following process was suggested. A matured P. seriolae comes out from the interior of the fish body through a small hole made in the skin and hungs down from the hole for a few weeks or more by Ieavng one end of the body under the skin. The part of the worm body exposed to the outside loses elasticity and color and flattens. The end of the exposed part collapsed and thus the larvae are released. and scattered about widely owing to the swimming of the host. The number of the larvae carried by a mother worm varies with the size of the worms, being about 6 to 8 millions in worms measured over 30cm in length.

JC ウイルス (JCV) DNA の系統解析によりアイヌの起源を解明することを目的として, 北海道の3地域(浦河, 白老, 旭川)に住むアイヌ30名から尿を採取した。尿から検出された JCV DNA (n = 13) は5つのゲノム型 (MY-b, MY-x, MX, EU-a/Arc, EU-c) に分類された。MY-b, EU-a/Arc, EU-cは過去に近隣の人類集団から検出されたが, MY-xとMXは今回初めてアイヌから検出された。得られた知見から, (1) 東北アジアから渡来した複数の人類集団が現代アイヌを築いたこと, (2) ヨーロッパ人に近縁の東北シベリア先住民の祖先集団が現代アイヌの中核を形成したこと, (3) 縄文人を形成した集団や新規な東北アジア系集団も現代アイヌの形成に寄与したことが示唆された。

本稿では気分明朗剤(mood-brighteners)の服用の是非とそれを通して快楽主義的功利主義の是非 について論じる。快楽主義とは快や幸福のみが善であると主張する道徳的な立場であり、経験機械 の議論をはじめ様々な批判にさらされながらも一定の支持を集めてきた。しかし近年開発された気 分明朗剤という薬がもたらす倫理的問題は、快楽主義に対して新たな疑義を呈しうるように思われ る。気分明朗剤とは簡単に言えば不安を緩和し気分を明るくする薬物であり、服用者の快につなが るものである。そのため気分明朗剤の使用は快楽主義的に見て肯定されるものである。しかし一方 で我々の間にはこの薬物に対する否定的な感情、道徳的な直観がある。この直観が妥当なものであ るならば、気分明朗剤の服用は否定されるべきであり、また気分明朗剤の服用を肯定する快楽主義 もまた否定されるべきということになるだろう。そこで本稿では主に気分明朗剤の服用を批判する 言説を検討し、それが妥当であるか否かを検討する。筆者の考えるところでは、L. カスらが呈示す る偽物と本物の区別、適切な感情などに基づく批判は誤りであり、気分明朗剤および功利主義に対 する決定的な批判とはならない。しかし苦痛とその受容が持つ価値にかかわる議論は快楽主義にとっ て直接的な疑義を投げかけうる。

症例は29歳,男性.性同一性障害患者.主訴は陰嚢部痛.自己去勢を試みたが,出血と疼痛のため中止し,2時間後に当院に受診した.両側精巣は摘除されておらず,腰椎麻酔下に陰嚢縫合術を施行した.術後,自傷の反復は認めない.

機械学習による金融時系列の予測は実務的にも学術的にも重要な研究課題である。金融時系列は、ノイズが多く、非定常であり、更に機密情報を含む事があるため、分析が困難である。これらの課題に対して、本研究ではAugmentation and Bagging method for Confidential Data series Forecasting(ABCD-Forecast)という手法を提案する。ABCD-Forecastは「データ分析コンペティション」という現実の枠組みから着想を得ており、 多数の分析者が予測結果を送信し評価を受ける仕組みを仮想的に構築する。ABCD-Forecastでは、仮想的な分析者に多様な「ノイズ除去加工」をしたデータを配布する。この加工により多様で低ノイズなデータ生成が可能となる。コンペティション形式で、分析者から多様かつ正確なモデルを得、状況ごとに使い分けることで非定常な市場にも対処する。また、時系列を加工して配布することで、実際のコンペティションに於いても機密性を担保したデータ配布が期待される。本研究では実データを用いた実証分析により良好な予測精度が得られることを示した。

Is it a miracle that life exists on the Earth, or is it a common phenomenon in the universe? If extraterrestrial organisms exist, what are they like? To answer these questions, we must understand what kinds of molecules could evolve into life, or in other words, what properties are generally required to perform biological functions and store genetic information. This review summarizes recent findings on simple ancestral proteins, outlines the basic knowledge in textbooks, and discusses the generally required properties for biological molecules from structural biology viewpoints (e.g., restriction of shapes, and types of intra- and intermolecular interactions), leading to the conclusion that proteins and nucleic acids are at least one of the simplest (and perhaps very common) forms of catalytic and genetic biopolymers in the universe. This review article is an extended version of the Japanese article, On the Origin of Life: Coevolution between RNA and Peptide, published in SEIBUTSU BUTSURI Vol. 61, p. 232–235 (2021).
