小型で高性能なハイビジョンカメラを実現するための撮像方式として, CCDを4枚用いる4板撮像方式を提案した.本方式は, 撮像素子の枚数を増やして空間サンプル点数を確保し, 単体素子の画素数を抑え, 感度, ダイナミックレンジなど特性の優れたCCDを使い, 高画質化を図っている.色分解光学系は, G光に2枚の素子, R光, B光にそれぞれ1枚を割当てる4分解プリズムを新たに検討, 試作した.空間画素ずらし法の適用については, 2枚のG光用の素子間に加えて, RとBの素子の間でも画素ずらしを行う方式とした.この新たな画素ずらし法により, 本方式が(1)有光色光に対する折り返し, (2)レンズの倍率色収差による解像度の劣化, の2つの点でRGB3板方式と比べ優れていることを, 計算により明らかにした.2/3インチ130万画素CCDを用いてカメラを試作し, 上記2点について, 試作カメラとRGB3板式カメラについて実測し, 本方式が優れていることを検証した.

Instances of predation and scavenging of jellyfish (pelagic Scyphozoa, Hydrozoa and Ctenophora) by benthic invertebrates are reviewed and presented. Sea anemones and decapod crabs are widespread as well as common predators or scavengers of jellyfish. Dead or dying jellyfish are also preyed upon by species of Echinodermata.

A 53-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of cellulitis and osteomyelitis. Twenty-four days after the initiation of daptomycin and sulbactam/ampicillin, he developed a fever and pulmonary infiltration. Bronchoalveolar lavage revealed a high number of eosinophils, while an intracutaneous test revealed positivity for daptomycin. The patient improved after discontinuing antimicrobial therapy. The plasma daptomycin minimum concentration (Cmin) was elevated (27.4 μg/mL), but plasma protein binding of daptomycin was low (87.8%). Although the pathophysiology of eosinophilic pneumonia remains unclear, antigenic stimulation due to daptomycin accumulation in the alveoli may have caused continuous immune activation.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a life-threatening lung disease. Despite the availability of several approved drugs, the development of a new treatment method is needed because of poor prognosis. Tissue selective drug delivery systems can avoid the adverse effects of current therapy and enhance efficacy. We evaluated the possibility of delivering drugs to the lungs of a PH rat model using fluorescence dye-labeled nanosized liposomes. To evaluate the tissue distribution following systemic exposure, fluorescent dye-labeled, 40-180 nm liposomes with and without polyethylene glycol (PEG) were intravenously administered to a monocrotaline-induced PH (MCT) rat model and tissue fluorescence was measured. Fluorescent dye-containing liposomes were intratracheally administered to the MCT model to evaluate the distribution of the liposome-encapsulated compound following local administration to reduce systemic exposure. The lung vascular permeability, plasma concentration of surfactant protein (SP)-D, lung reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and macrophage marker gene cluster of differentiation (CD68) expression were measured. PEG and 80-nm liposome accumulation in the lung was elevated in the MCT model compared to that in normal rats. The intratracheally administered liposomes were delivered selectively to the lungs of the MCT model. The lung vascular permeability, plasma SP-D concentration, and CD68 expression were significantly elevated in the lungs of the MCT model, and were all significantly and positively correlated to liposome lung accumulation. Liposomes can accumulate in the lungs of an MCT model by enhancing vascular permeability by the inflammatory response. Therefore, drug encapsulation in liposomes could be an effective method of drug delivery in patients with PH.

Research has suggested that regulatory fit creates value. In this study, the regulatory fit was defined as the fit between the regulatory focus and the advertising messages. We investigated the effects of regulatory fit on the evaluation of messages when familiarity with the message was low. This hypothesis was supported by two observations; when the familiarity with a message was low, regulatory fit was not observed among participants with a prevention focus. In contrast, regulatory fit was observed among participants with a promotion focus, with a higher preference for two-sided advertising. The significance of familiarity on the effects of regulatory fit and value is discussed.

The purpose of this study is to examine whether a commitment to the study of art affects how students receive inspiration from their external environment. The frequency and intensity of external inspiration is compared in art majors versus non-art majors. In addition, we examine whether attitudes developed through the study of art are correlated with inspiration. Specifically, we focus on attitudes to art-making and art appreciation. We developed psychological scales and questionnaires to measure three parameters: (a) the frequency and intensity of inspiration from the external environment, (b) self-evaluation of art-making, and (c) attitudes toward art appreciation. We then asked 190 undergraduates who majored in the fine arts and 189 undergraduates with non-art majors to complete these questionnaires. The results show that art majors experience inspiration from their external environment more frequently and intensely than non-art majors. Attitudes toward art-making and appreciation, which differed between non-art majors and art majors, were positively correlated with externally-derived inspiration.

大豆レシチンは, 食品工業分野における重要な界面活性剤であり, 大豆から抽出した原油に加水し, 分離したガム質を乾燥することにより得られる。この総説では, 先ず品質の良いレシチンを得るために重要な問題点と, 筆者らで実用化した粗レシチンの直接濾過法による新規な精製法について紹介し, 近年開発され市販されている脱脂レシチン, 分別レシチン, 酵素分解レシチン, 水素添加およびヒドロキシル化等の化学修飾レシチンの製造法と特徴についても紹介した。これらの新規な製造法によって得られる生理機能に優れたレシチンが, 食品分野のみならず医薬・化粧品分野へも発展していくことを期待する。

Caused by cerebral damage, developmental coordination disorder (DCD) presents with extreme clumsiness when performing gross and fine motor actions. Difficulties in diagnostic consistency have been reported due to ambiguity in the definition of DCD. In the present study, we created a motor development checklist to enable assessment of potential DCD based on children's appearance during every day activities. Checklist validity was investigated through the joint application of a Developmental Voluntary Movement Test in children with intellectual disabilities aged 6 to 12 years in an elementary school special needs class. Findings showed a high correlation between the motor development checklist and developmental test evaluations of voluntary movement for 6 to 9 year olds and a low correlation for 10 to 12 year olds. Correlation was also observed between mental age (MA) and both the motor development checklist and the developmental test of voluntary movement; however, in children with suspected DCD, motor difficulties considerably exceeded those predicted by MA. These findings indicate a relationship between lack of sensory integration and difficulty with movements.

生糸の機械的性質 (強度, 伸度及びヤング率) が約1,800日にわたり, 種々の湿度の下で測定された。生糸の湿度調整は飽和塩溶液を用い, デシケーター中で行った。日数が経つほど生糸の劣化は低湿度より高湿度中で促進される。生糸に含まれるセリシンは多量の水を吸うので, 練糸と比較すると, 強度の低下及び伸度の上昇が著しい。動的弾性率と機械的性質と同様の傾向を示した。

うつ病患者の白血球におけるセロトニントランスポーターの発現は上昇しており、プロモーターのDNAメチル化率は低下していることを確認した。幼少期のストレスの影響を今後検討する必要がある。このほか老年期においてうつ病との鑑別が重要となるアルツハイマー型認知症やレビー小体型認知症において血液から得られる診断バイオマーカーの検討を行い、TREM2、SNCA、INPP5、TOMM40、APOE、PINK1、ABCA7、MEF2C、DRD2の遺伝子発現やDNAメチル化率の変化について英語論文で報告することができた。今後も老年期うつ病と認知症の鑑別に役立つバイオマーカーの検索を行う予定である。
