腫瘍形成時やがん組織周辺の炎症部位では、炎症関連DNA損傷が誘発され、がんの発生や悪性化を引き起こす。炎症シグナルとして働き、最近がん治療の標的分子として注目を集めているHMGB1 (High-Mobility Group Box1) が、遺伝子変異や細胞死誘導の繰り返しに重要な役割を果たしていることから、本研究では、HMGB1特異的阻害剤で抗炎症薬のグリチルリチンによる炎症関連DNA損傷抑制機構を解明する。また、本研究では炎症性微小環境中での抗炎症薬による炎症関連DNA損傷制御の分子機構を解明することにより、がんの発生のみならず悪性化も制御する新しい戦略的がん化学予防法を開発する。

The paper outlines the current discussion on the species problem : what actually is a species and how do we recognize such an entity in nature? Six of the major species notions are briefly explained. A distinction can be made between species concepts based on the process of interbreeding and concepts that focus on common descent. Application of these different types of species concept may give incompatible results. It is discussed to what extent we can be certain that the species delimited represent objective realities in nature and are independent of the discovery procedure applied. Further, it is argued that because of the existence of various evolutionary processes, nature can be divided into several natural entities, each representing a species of some sort. The choice of a particular species concept is determined by that aspect or process in nature that forms the focus of one's research agenda. This plea for pluralism should preferably not affect taxonomic procedure ; named species taxa should be based on only one, taxic species concept.

本稿では,対象となる発音が目標発音に変化する過程が現れている2つの発音指導の事例を取り上げ,その過程の中で学習者が実際に何をしているのか,その行動を教室談話に着目して分析し,比較することを試みた。学習者は単に教師から与えられる情報や指示の通りに学習しているわけではないことから,単に情報の量や質ではなく,情報をリソースとして学習者が何をするか,それを予めどのように仕掛けるかを考えることが教師の役割として示唆される。しかし,同じ目標の実践でも,成果に至る過程は異なるのが普通であり,何がどのように作用したのか,実践とその過程の詳細な分析の蓄積が不可欠である。そのための方法論として,教室談話を分析することはその結果に至る過程を見ることが可能であり,そのような実践と分析が蓄積,共有されることによって,教師自身の信念,実践だけでなく,音声教育のあり方を問い直すことにもつながることを指摘する。

A 54-year-old man with no medical history presented to our hospital with vomiting, left hemiplegia, and seizures. On arrival, he was experiencing generalized tonic-clonic seizures, which required him to be intubated and deeply sedated. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed extensive venous sinus obstruction from the superior sagittal sinus to the bilateral sigmoid sinus and cerebral edema with intracranial hemorrhage. An intracranial pressure (ICP) monitor was immediately placed intracranially, and mechanical thrombectomy (MT) was performed under ICP monitoring. MT was immediately terminated when the venous sinus was partially recanalized enough to decrease the ICP; then, anticoagulation therapy was initiated. Postoperative follow-up angiography revealed that venous sinus obstruction and intracranial venous perfusion improved over time. Although he had intracranial hemorrhage-induced left hemiplegia and sensory deficits, his condition improved with rehabilitation, and the patient was eventually discharged home. The indication criteria and techniques for MT for cerebral venous sinus thrombosis are yet to be established. As in this case, in patients with impaired consciousness due to intracranial hemorrhage or epilepsy, preoperative ICP monitor placement is deemed useful to evaluate venous perfusion during MT and decide the treatment goal.

南アフリカから搬入された5頭のケープハイラックスProcavia capensisから検出された内部寄生虫を検討したところ,Inermicapsifer hyracis, I.cf. beveridgei, Grassenema procaviaeおよびEimeria dendrohyracisが検出された。I.hyracis以外は日本の飼育下ハイラックス類では初めての記録であった。

A novel method is proposed to estimate the equilibrium moisture content Xe at a specific temperature using the change over time in moisture content during cooking of spaghetti at different rates of temperature increase. In this method, the moisture content XvT→0 at infinitely slow heating is the equilibrium moisture content Xe at that temperature, based on the relationship between the average rate of temperature increase vT in reaching a certain temperature and the moisture content X. Xe estimated by the proposed method was almost consistent with the equilibrium moisture content estimated from the change in moisture content over time at a constant temperature, and the validity of the proposed method was verified.

Terminal structure analysis of an insect cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (CPV) genome RNA in the early 1970s at the National Institute of Genetics in Japan yielded a 2′-O-methylated nucleotide in the 5′ end of double-stranded RNA genome. This finding prompted me to add S-adenosyl-L-methionine, a natural methylation donor, to the in vitro transcription reaction of viruses that contain RNA polymerase. This effort resulted in unprecedented mRNA synthesis that generates a unique blocked and methylated 5′ terminal structure (referred later to as “cap” or “m7G-cap”) in the transcription of silkworm CPV and human reovirus and vaccinia viruses that contain RNA polymerase in virus particles. Initial studies with viruses paved the way to discover the 5′-cap m7GpppNm structure present generally in cellular mRNAs of eukaryotes. I participated in those studies and was able to explain the pathway of cap synthesis and the significance of the 5′ cap (and capping) in gene expression processes, including transcription and protein synthesis. In this review article I concentrate on the description of these initial studies that eventually led us to a new paradigm of mRNA capping.

The Pathological Narcissism Inventory (PNI), consisting of 7 sub-scales, was developed to comprehensively assess the components of narcissism, including not only grandiose but also vulnerable aspects. The purpose of this study was to develop the Japanese version of the Pathological Narcissism Inventory (PNI-J) and to examine its factor structure, reliability, and validity in the Japanese population. The results from 402 participants showed that the PNI-J has a factor structure that is nearly equivalent to the original PNI. Furthermore, the PNI-J had good test-retest reliability, and had a theoretically reasonable correlation with self-, interpersonal-, and personality-related variables. Additionally, the Japanese version of the Brief-Pathological Narcissism Inventory (B-PNI-J) was constructed based on previous research, demonstrating nearly the same properties as the full version. Thus, the PNI-J and the B-PNI-J can reflect the pathological features of narcissistic people in the Japanese population more comprehensively than other conventional measurement scales of narcissism.

【はじめに】 約6ヶ月間の透析中運動療法が継続可能であった外来透析患者10例を対象に運動療法の効果を検証することを目的とした. 【対象と方法】 対象は,2019年4月から2019年12月までの期間に外来透析患者の内,透析中運動療法を実施した連続19例において,約6ヶ月間継続できた10例を対象とした. 介入前後における基本情報,血液検査,血管機能検査,身体機能評価を後方視的に調査した. 【結果】 約6ヶ月介入経過においてAlbumin,Total cholesterol,HDL cholesterolの項目において有意に低下した.身体機能検査は,握力が有意に改善した.透析中運動療法時の有害事象は認めなかった. 【結論】 透析中の運動療法は低負荷のレジスタンストレーニングにて身体機能の維持,向上に繋がる可能性が示唆された.

In this research, we describe the prediction of the stock price fluctuation by using Bayesian Network. Bayesian Network is trained with stock price fluctuations DJIA30 in New York stock exchange market, FTSE100 in London stock exchange market and NIKKEI225 in Tokyo stock exchange market. Then the network is applied to predict FTSE100 fluctuation. Firstly, FTSE100 fluctuation in 2007 is predicted by technical analysis and Bayesian Network analysis. The results show that the prediction accuracy of Bayesian Network is much better than that of technical analysis. Next, we will discuss the prediction accuracy of the Bayesian Network in 2007 (sub-prime loan problem). The results show that the prediction accuracy decreases not only at the time of the event but at the time of the policy change for the event.

The effect of environmental context on performance on a word-fragment completion task, as an implicit memory task, was investigated by varying the retention interval between the encoding and retrieval sessions. In two experiments, 40 to-be-remembered items were presented incidentally to participants before they engaged in a word fragment task. The retention interval was one week in Experiment 1 and 10 minutes in Experiment 2. Except for an environmental context cue of odor, the environmental contexts of the encoding and retrieval sessions in both experiments were different. Reinstatement of the environmental context cue of odor facilitated performance in Experiment 1 only. This result suggests that when the effectiveness of item cues such as word fragments is reduced by a long retention interval, the environmental cues can facilitate performance in word-fragment task.

血管新生は線維症や動脈硬化症、悪性腫瘍の増悪など多彩な病態に関与する。研究代表者らは、がん細胞膜表面発現抗原に対する抗体と光感受性物質を結合させた化合物と近赤外光によって、がん細胞のみを機械的細胞死へ誘導する方法を開発し、光免疫療法と名付け報告してきた。また、血管内皮細胞に発現するタンパクを標的とした光免疫療法によって新生血管の傷害から抗腫瘍効果を誘導する方法を開発してきた。病的新生血管の近赤外光による制御は、がんだけでなく非腫瘍性疾患においても実現可能と考えられ、本研究課題では、病的血管新生が病態に関与する疾患モデルを対象として、病的血管の可視化と制御を可能とする治療法の開発を目指す。
