We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of Berberine on glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and identify potential factors may modifying the hypoglycemic effect. We searched PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang Database to identify randomized controlled trials that investigated the effect of Berberine. We calculated weighted mean differences (WMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for fasting plasma glucose (FPG), postprandial plasma glucose (PPG) and glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels. Twenty-eight studies were identified for analysis, with a total of 2,313 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. The pool data showed that Berberine treatment was associated with a better reduction on FPG (WMD = –0.54 mmol/L, 95% CI: –0.77 to –0.30), PPG (WMD = –0.94 mmol/L, 95% CI: –1.27 to –0.61), and HbA1c (WMD = –0.54 mmol/L, 95% CI: –0.93 to –‍0.15) than control groups. Subgroup-analyses indicated that effects of Berberine on blood glucose became unremarkable as the treatment lasted more than 90 days, the daily dosage more than 2 g/d and patients aged more than 60 years. The efficiency of Berberine combined with hypoglycaemics is better than either Berberine or hypoglycaemic alone. The dosage and treatment duration of Berberine and patients’ age may modify the effect.

Five species of helminth endoparasite (two digeneans, Brachyphallus crenatus (Rudolphi, 1802) and Lecithaster gibbosus (Rudolphi, 1802); two cestodes, plerocercoids of Nybelinia surmenicola (Okada in Dollfus, 1929) and a tetraphyllidean; and an acanthocephalan, post-cystacanths of Bolbosoma sp.) were found in adults of Arctic lampreys Lethenteron camtschaticum (Tilesius, 1811) arriving in the lower part of the middle reaches of a river in Hokkaido, Japan, for spawning after a period of growth in the sea. These parasites are all common species previously reported from various marine fishes in the North Pacific and all have complex life-cycles involving host-to-host transmission via a predator-prey relationship. To have become infected with these food-borne parasites, Arctic lampreys need to have ingested various body parts of infected prey fishes at sea. Consequently, the endoparasites recovered suggest that the Arctic lamprey has a role as a predator in marine ecosystems.

This study investigated the processing and comprehension of thought questions typically used in the Japanese false-belief task. Word order variation in Japanese may affect processing and comprehension of thought questions, but there is no standardization for Japanese thought questions used in the false-belief task that examines children’s development of Theory of Mind. In this study, 30 adult participants were tested on five types of thought questions in an off-line judgment task and an on-line self-paced reading task. The results showed that there are indeed some differences in comprehension difficulties depending on word order for questions that express the same meaning. These results are discussed with regard to the syntactic properties of the question types and its implications for the assessment of children on the false-belief task.

We investigate the effects of the stratospheric equatorial quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) on the extratropical circulation in the Southern Hemisphere (SH) from SH winter to early summer. The Japanese 55-year Reanalysis (JRA-55) dataset is used for 1960–2010. The factors important for the variation of zonal wind of the SH polar vortex are identified via multiple linear regression, using Equivalent effective stratospheric chlorine (EESC), middle- and lower-stratospheric QBO, solar cycle, El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), and volcanic aerosol terms as explanatory variables. The results show that the contributions to the SH polar vortex variability of ENSO are important in SH early winter (June) to mid-winter (July), while that of middle-stratospheric QBO is important from spring (September to November) to early summer (December). Analyses of the regression coefficients associated with both middle- and lower-stratospheric QBO suggest an influence on the SH polar vortex from SH winter through early summer in the seasonal evolution. One possible pathway is that the middle-stratospheric QBO results in the SH low-latitudes stratospheric response through the QBO-induced mean meridional circulation, leading to a high-latitude response. This favours delayed downward evolution of the polar-night jet (PNJ) at high latitudes (around 60°S) from late winter (August) to spring (September–November) during the westerly phase of the QBO, consequently tending to strengthen westerly winds from stratosphere to troposphere in SH spring. The other possible pathway involves the response to lower-stratospheric QBO that induces the SH late winter increase in upward propagation of planetary waves from the extratropical troposphere to stratosphere, which is consistent with weakening of the PNJ.

日本の麺用小麦はオーストラリアからの輸入小麦銘柄(ASW)と比べて製麺適性が劣っている.西日本の小麦品種には高分子量グルテニンサブユニット(HMW-GS)が Glu-A1座の対立遺伝子がコードするサブユニットが欠失型(null)で Glu-B1座が7+8,Glu-D1座が2.2+12や2+12をもつ品種が多数を占める.そこで,これらの高分子量グルテニンサブユニットの小麦粉生地物性への影響を小麦品種「ふくさやか」を反復親として,8種類の準同質遺伝子系統を作出して分析した. Glu-D1座が2.2+12をコードする系統では, Glu-A1座が欠失型の場合,Glu-A1座がサブユニット1をコードする系統と比べて不溶性ポリマー含有率が有意に低く,小麦粉の生地物性も弱かった.とくに日本品種に多く見られるnull,7+8,2.2+12のサブユニット構成は最も弱い物性を示した.一方, Glu-D1座が2+12をコードする系統では, Glu-A1座のサブユニットの有無による不溶性ポリマータンパク質や生地物性への影響は小さかった.これらのことから Glu-A1座とGlu-D1座の対立遺伝子の組合せが,小麦の加工適性に大きく影響していることが明らかになった.これまでHMW-GS構成はSDS-PAGEを用いて判別するのが一般的であったが,サブユニット構成によっては Glu-A1座のサブユニットの判定が困難な場合がある.そこで,Glu-A1座のサブユニット1(Glu-A1a),2*(Glu-A1b)およびnull(Glu-A1c)を判別するPCRマーカーを開発した.

夏場のヒット商品として登場した生酒, 生貯蔵酒も今ではすっかり定着し, フレッシュさを特徴に, 吟醸生酒なども市場に登場してきている。しかし, 新たな商品の開発には必ず問題点がつきまとうのが常で, 生酒, 生貯蔵酒の最も大きな欠点であった「ムレ香」の解決が今日の商品を定着させたといってもよいであろう。明らかになった「ムレ香」の生成機構と防除法を解説していただき, さらに今後の研究の方向を示していただいた。

【目的】関節拘縮は生じると日常生活に支障をきたすことがあるため、その発生を未然に防ぐことが重要である。関節拘縮の発生予防に対して温熱療法と運動療法を併用し、その効果は知られている。しかし、温熱療法のみで関節拘縮の予防効果を検討した報告はない。そこで今回,我々は温水負荷による温熱療法が関節拘縮の発生予防に対して単独で効果があるのかを検討し興味深い知見を得たので報告する。【方法】関節拘縮モデルの実験動物として72週齢のWistar系雌ラット30匹を使用した。関節拘縮モデルの作成は右後肢を無処置側、左後肢を固定側として左膝関節を屈曲90°でキルシュナー鋼線による埋め込み式骨貫通内固定法によりに固定した。固定処置後のラットは無作為に、温熱療法群と対照群の2つに分け、それぞれ2週間固定、4週間固定、6週間固定の5匹ずつに分けた。温熱療法は固定後3日間の自由飼育の後、41°Cの温水に下腿部を15分間、一日一回,週5回浸漬した。関節拘縮の進行の度合いは関節可動域を測定し評価した。関節可動域の評価は温水負荷期間終了後、麻酔下で膝関節に0.049Nmのトルク負荷にて最大屈曲角度、最大伸展角度を測定した。組織学的評価は川本粘着フィルム法を用い、矢状面で薄切しHE染色を行った。【結果】関節可動域は、関節固定前が135.7±7.4°、2週間後、温熱療法群が66.2±5.7°、対照群が64.8±7.9°、4週間後、温熱療法群が59.8±6.8°、対照群が45.0±3.2°、6週間後、温熱療法が53.4±7.7°、対照群が43.4±4.5°であった。2週目では有意差は見られなかったが、4週目・6週目では有意差が見られた。【考察】1ヶ月以内の関節不動で起こる拘縮は、筋の変化に由来するところが大きく、それ以上不動期間が長くなると関節構成体の影響が強くなると言われている。関節構成体の主な変化としては、線維性癒着、関節軟骨の不規則化などが報告されている。今回の結果では固定4週間以降に有意差が見られるため、温熱療法が筋の変化に対してよりも関節構成体に対して抑制効果があったと考えられる。本研究において温熱療法が関節拘縮予防に有効であると言う結果が得られたため、臨床現場に温熱療法を積極的に使用するべきだと考える。【まとめ】今回の実験では温熱療法によって関節不動による関節可動域の減少が抑制されることが明らかになった。多くの患者が関節拘縮の発生により回復後においても日常生活に支障をきたす例があることを考えると貴重な発見である。今後,温熱療法による関節拘縮発生予防効果の機序とその効果的な適用条件を検討していきたい。

Extracting keywords from a target text data is essential for an analysis to describe substance characteristics of message content. We picked a use of a stopword filter from among alternatives because the method has the advantage that it is simple yet effective way. The filter we present was made up of non-content words and low-content words. Non-content-bearing words consisted mainly of function words and were gotten rid of by using part-of-speech (POS) tag information. High occurrence rate words in remaining had prospects of being keywords, however usually there were some low-content words like delexical verbs and so on. This article presents a stopword list obtained to come up with low-content words by sensuous manual procedures carried out using 40 text files from the CASTEL/J database and establishes it in the view of general versatility.

ADEAC(A System of Digitalization and Exhibition for Archive Collections)は、2008年10月から、TRC-ADEAC(株)において運用を開始したプラットフォームシステムです。現在、図書館・大学等の88機関が所蔵する多様な史資料が、ADEACを介し利用に供されています。インターネット・ユーザーは、無償で、例えば高精細画像データを閲覧、またADEAC内の全てのテキストデータを横断検索できます。当技報において、現在進めているインターフェイス、検索精度の向上等の改善とIIIF、ウェブアクセシビリティ等への対応の検討状況について概説し、特徴的な5機関の利用事例を紹介します。

大規模系の電子状態計算において要となるKohn-Sham の密度汎関数法(DFT)について,そのいくつかの問題点をレビューする.その1つは,Kohn-Sham 法において変分探索する電子密度の集合にある.通常のやり方では,実際には,相互作用の無い参照系の「基底状態」電子密度の集合のみを探索することになる.この密度の集合は,本来探索すべきN-表示可能な密度の部分集合にしかなっていないので,正しい電子密度に辿りつけない可能性がある.また,全エネルギーへの寄与の大きな交換汎関数Ex[n]について,これまでの主流の汎関数開発の経緯とその設計指針を論じ,それらとは異なる始点を持つBecke-Roussel 汎関数の概要と利点を紹介する.現在の主流の交換汎関数は一様な電子ガスの交換ホールをモデルとして構築されているが,このモデルは,原子や分子のように,その外縁部の密度が一様性から著しく逸脱する場合には適切ではない.Becke-Roussel のモデルは,原子,分子系の応用にとって理にかなった描像を与えるものである.

The Structures and Materials Research Center of the National Aerospace Laboratory of Japan (NAL) and Kawasaki Heavy Industories, Ltd. (KHI) conducted a vertical drop test of a fuselage section cut from a NAMIC YS-11 transport airplane at NAL vertical drop test facility in December 2001. The main objectives of this program were to obtain background data for aircraft cabin safety by drop test of a full-scale fuselage section and to develop computational method for crash simulation. The test article including seats and anthropomorphic test dummies was dropped to a rigid impact surface at a velocity of 6.1 m/s (20 ft/s). The test condition and result were considered to be severe but potentially survivable. A finite element model of this test article was also developed using the explicit nonlinear transient-dynamic analysis code, LS-DYNA3D. An outline of analytical method and comparison of analysis result with drop test data are presented in this paper.

乾燥収縮ひび割れとマスコンクリートの水和熱に起因するひび割れを対象とし, 指針類に示されているひび割れ対策が, 必ずしも実際の現場における実用的対策にはなっておらず, 両者にかなりの矛盾点があることを示した。ひび割れが発生するか否かは, ひずみと伸び能力との大小関係, または応力と引張強度との大小関係に基づいて判定されているが, この際, 数々の条件が仮定される。これらの仮定条件の中でも, 特にコンクリートの変形, 応力, 強度を支配する物性値がまだ適切には把握されていないことが, 矛盾が生じる原因のひとつであることを指摘した。

In April 2011, the International Commission on Radiological Protection recommended reducing the occupational equivalent dose limit for the lens of the eye. Since then, discussions toward implementation of such a revised dose limit into national law have been made in various countries. In the United States of America (US), the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) established Scientific Committee 1-23 (SC 1-23) in January 2014 to provide guidance on whether existing dose limits for the ocular lens should be changed in the US, to which the author of this paper served as Consultant. In January 2017, NCRP published Commentary No. 26 “Guidance on radiation dose limits for the lens of the eye” which was prepared by SC 1-23. With this Commentary, NCRP now recommends reducing the occupational dose limit for the lens from equivalent dose of 150 mSv/year to absorbed dose of 50 mGy/year along with the use of relative biological effectiveness value for high linear energy transfer radiation. This review provides an outline of this Commentary.

本研究は、過疎化や高齢化が進行する2 つの地域における地域活性化活動の事例を題材にして、これまで見過ごされてきた地域活性化活動の潜在的な側面を再検討し、より有意義な地域活性化活動の在り方や情報発信の方法を提示しようとするものである。本論文では、参与観察を行って収集した情報を、筆者や活動参加者の人物像を明記したうえで、活動参加者でもあった筆者の当該時点における率直な感想をも記述する「新しいスタイルのエスノグラフィ」を試みた。 <br> 本研究を通じて明らかになったのは、次の4 点である。第1 に、地域活性化活動を数値的に評価する場合、「数値的な成果を高めるもの」として認識されることが多いが、地域活性化活動に参加する個人の視点に立つならば、それは、「幸福を追求するための営み」の一形式にほかならず、地域活性化活動は、あくまでも、その文脈で評価されることが重要であることを指摘した。 第2 に、地域活性化活動における最大の価値は、活動それ自体に「かけがえのなさ」を共同構成するプロセスにあることを主張した。また、そのプロセスにおいて、行為そのものが規範贈与の性質を有することが示唆された。第3 に、地域活性化活動が拡大・発展するための潜在的かつ重要な要因として、「規範贈与の整流化」とも言うべき現象が必要であることが明らかになった。第4 に、上述の「新しいスタイルのエスノグラフィ」は、読者がよりリアルな追体験をすることを可能にすると同時に、インターローカルな協同的実践を喚起し、活動を継続するための内省にも役立つ素材となることが見出された。 <br> 最後に、以上の結果を踏まえたうえで、新しい地域活性化活動の在り方、新しい地域活性化活動支援の在り方、外部の人の扱い方を提示した。
