In this paper, we describe a key strategy of local procurement for Japanese auto parts suppliers and discuss future story of that. The conclusions are below. Firstly, nowadays the key strategy of J-suppliers is given by themselves, not by their customers. They are going to construct competitiveness, mainly focused on COST, for their own subsidiaries. The figure of local content just indicates consequent of pursuing its strategy. Secondary, the concept of local content has changed recently. The more significant index is intraregional procurement compared to traditional local content. Moreover, we proposed that J-suppliers should increase business with regional enterprises than present days if they maintain a prosperity.

Driver fatigue has received increased attention during recent years and is now considered to be a major contributor to approximately 15–30% of all crashes. However, little is known about fatigue in city bus drivers. It is hypothesized that city bus drivers suffer from sleepiness, which is due to a combination of working conditions, lack of health and reduced sleep quantity and quality. The overall aim with the current study is to investigate if severe driver sleepiness, as indicated by subjective reports of having to fight sleep while driving, is a problem for city based bus drivers in Sweden and if so, to identify the determinants related to working conditions, health and sleep which contribute towards this. The results indicate that driver sleepiness is a problem for city bus drivers, with 19% having to fight to stay awake while driving the bus 2–3 times each week or more and nearly half experiencing this at least 2–4 times per month. In conclusion, severe sleepiness, as indicated by having to fight sleep during driving, was common among the city bus drivers. Severe sleepiness correlated with fatigue related safety risks, such as near crashes.

The plain area in the east part of Tokyo, Musashino Terrace and Shitamachi Lowland, is underlain by Quaternary thick sediments. These sediments are divided stratigraphically into two groups, the lower is the Kitatama Formation and the upper the Tokyo Formation. The general strike of the Formations tends NNWSSE with a very low dip to the northeast. Upper layers of the Tokyo Formation are mainly composed of silt, sand and gravel, forming the aquifer system of artesian groundwater. According to the distribution of Tritium ratio in the groundwater, which of Musashino Terrace has mainly supplied from the surface water of the Tama River.Withdrawal groundwater from these aquifers has caused the lowering of groundwater level and the land subsidence all over the plain. The lowering of groundwater level and the land subsidence, however, which have continued half a century, rapidly taken favorable turns during recent about ten years due to restrictions of groundwater withdrawal.Recovering of groundwater level has not only brought about the favorable turn of the land subsidence, but also decreasing the spout of oxygen deficient air through water wells and the cracks of basements at the time of air pressure change or pnuematic work in the underground. It also has advanced the secondary storage of natural water soluble gas, which has reserved originally in the deep layers, the Kazusa Group, into gravel layers beneath the Yurakucho Formation.

There are no studies reported on the salivary serotonin concentrations in adolescent patients suffering from impulsive behavior. In order to elucidate the role of serotonin in impulsivity, salivary serotonin concentrations of nine psychiatric patients and nine normal participants were measured. Both groups also completed the SSS scale (Zuckerman et al., 1978). Salivary serotonin level of patients with impulsivity was higher than that of the normal group (p = 0.040, Mann-Whitney). Moreover, the Dis scale of the patients was lower than that of the normal participants. The results were incongruent with our working hypothesis. Further research is required to clarify the relation between salivary serotonin concentrations and impulsivity.

本研究は工学系大学生と美術系大学生がチームでデザインを行った事例を振り返り、成功したプロセスと失敗したプロセスを比較しながら、工学系と美術系チームにおける協働について考察する。比較の結果、美術系には美術系同士のチームでしか伝わらない「なにか違う」という感覚があり、その感覚を言葉で論理的に工学系に伝えることでお互いに信頼感が生まれ、工学系と美術系のチームがより互いを信頼しあい、協力しながらチームとして活動し高品質なアウトプットを出せるようになると考えられる。

Recent geoscientific data and models for ore geneses of the Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe deposits, Inner Mongolia, China were reviewed. The rift system developed in the northern margin of the Sino-Korean massif during the Early-Middle Proterozoic era made a favorite tectonic setting for the depositions of Bayan Obo Group and the ore deposits. A variety of veins and dykes around the deposits occur in the footwall clastic rocks and the basement of migmatites. K-metasomatism and brecciation of hanging H9 shale indicate that the shale could serve as a sealing cap-rock for the deposits (DREW et al., 1992). Data of isotope ages from Sm-Nd, La-Ba, Rb-Sr, Th-Pb, Ar-Ar, and Re-Os methods suggest that there are at least three metallogenic periods: (1) 1, 700 - 1, 260 Ma (Middle Proterozoic); (2) 555 - 370 Ma (Caledonian); and (3) 343 - 298 Ma (Hercynian). In the three periods the first one is of the most important (BAI et al., 1996). C, O and S isotopic compositions together with mineral chemistry and field observations of the H8 dolostone and ore minerals indicate the following possibilities: (1) The dolostone belongs to normal sedimentary carbonate rocks and is not a magmatic carbonatite. (2) The original iron (hematite) ore bodies were formed syngenetically before REE-Nb mineralization. (3) The hydrothermal fluids with an alkaline-carbonatite chemistry were derived from the upper mantle, and printed the REE-Nb mineralization over the original iron bodies. The process of the above (2) and (3) is considered as a composite process of both crustal and mantle source mineralization (CAO et al., 1995). Many geochemical data and field observations are consistent with the composite model for the origins of the Bayan Obo deposit.

歳から79歳までの各年齢層の健常人1,261例について心電図R-R間隔変動を指標とした自律神経機能検査を行い, IE常参考値および標準予測式を作成した.安静・時, 深呼吸時, バルサルバ試験, 起立試験での心電図R-R間隔をMEコマーシャル製のオートノミックR-100を使用して連続する100心拍で計測し, 平均値, 標準偏差, 変動係数, 最大値と最小値の比などを検討した.自律神経機能検査成績に性差は認められなかったが, 年齢と強い相関が認められたので年齢別の正常参考値をパラメトリック法で算出した.安静時および深呼吸時の100心拍R-R間隔の標準偏差, 変動係数および最大値と最小値の比は加齢に伴って有意に減少した (P<0.01).また多変量解析法により自律神経機能検査の標準予測式を作成し, 信頼の高い (P<0.01) 予測式を得た

This paper describes an adaptive visual servoing controller consisting of an on-line estimator and a feedback/feedforward controller for uncalibrated camera-manipulator systems. The estimator does not need a priori knowledge on the kinematic structure nor parameters of the camera-manipulator system, such as camera and link parameters. The controller consists of feedforward and feedback terms to make the image features converge to the desired trajectories, by using the estimated results. Some experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed estimator and controller.

High voltage adjustable speed drive systems offer significant advantages in many applications such as a fan, pump, or blower. In these applications, the adjustable speed drive systems achieves a higher level of system efficiency.Usually, low voltage inverters with output transformer were used for a high voltage induction motor drive system. Recently, direct drive inverter system without output transformer has proposed and investigated. This inverter system is composed of single phase unit inverters and outputs multilevel voltages.In this paper, pulse width modulation (PWM) technique suitable for high voltage direct drive inverter systems are discussed. At first, conventional multi-level PWM techniques based on the sub-harmonic method are shown and evaluated using time domain simulation. Next, new PWM method is proposed. This method has advantages that a modulation principle is very simple, distortion of the output voltage is very low, and well balanced switching losses among the unit inverters are achieved. Finally, simulation and experimental result are shown to illustrate the effectiveness of this method.

A 10-year-old French bulldog presented with an abdominal tumor. Triple-phase helical computed tomography was performed, revealing a hepatic tumor, an enlarged hepatic lymph node, and no masses in other organs. The hepatic tumor demonstrated marked enhancement, similar to that of the aorta in the arterial phase. The tumor had rich vascularization and a hepatic arterio-venous shunt formed between the hepatic artery and middle hepatic vein. The hepatic tumor was surgically removed and histological diagnosis revealed a hepatic carcinoid tumor. During surgery, rapid massive arterial hemorrhage occurred from the site of the incision. The animal died without improvement post-surgery. In the case of an arterio-venous shunt in a hepatic tumor, it is important to be careful to avoid perioperative bleeding.

家族性地中海熱(Familial Mediterranean fever, FMF)は,持続期間が比較的短い(1~3日)周期性発熱と漿膜炎を主徴とする遺伝性の自己炎症疾患である.2009年に行った全国調査の結果では,日本における推定患者数は,約300人で各種臨床症状の頻度は,発熱が95.5%,胸痛(胸膜炎症状)が35.8%,腹痛(腹膜炎症状)62.7%,関節炎が31.3%であった.またAA amyloidosisは5名(3.7%)に確認された.治療に関しては,コルヒチンが91.8%の患者で有効であった.本邦において一定数のFMF患者が存在しており,重篤な合併症であるAA amyloidosisを予防するためにも早期診断,早期治療介入が望まれる.

Basilar artery and internal carotid paraclinoid aneurysms are still surgically challenging. We performed 31 clipping surgeries (basilar tip aneurysm 6, basilar artery-superior cerebellar artery aneurysm 8, and internal carotid aneurysm 17) via the extradural temporopolar approach. After the frontotemporal craniotomy, the meningo-orbital band was incised and the dura propria of the temporal lobe was peeled from the lateral wall of the cavernous sinus. The anterior clinoid process was removed extradurally. The distal dural ring and falciform ligament were incised for mobilization of the internal carotid artery and optic nerve. The temporal lobe was retracted posteriorly with the dura mater. The aneurysm clipping was performed through the relatively wide operative trajectory over the opened cavernous sinus. Postoperative outcome was modified Rankin Scale (mRS) 0 in 28 patients and mRS in three patients with visual deficits. No temporal lobe contusion occurred. The extradural temporopolar approach is a useful skull base technique for deeply situated aneurysms.

Nakanokami-shima was designated a national monument in 1972 because of its important for breeding seabirds, though the seabirds of the island were very poorly known. In this paper we present the information on the breeding species and their current status. Observations were made over a ten years period from 1975 to 1984.Seven species of seabirds were found to breed on the island. All were summer visitors, except for the Brown Booby which may be a resident.1. Bulwer's Petrel, Bulweria bulwerii. Bulwer's Petrel was not known to breed on the island until we captured and ringed 2 adults on 2 July, 1981, both of which had fully grown brood patches, and 2 more adults on 4 July, 1982, both of which were incubating. In 1982, 1983, and 1984 the petrels bred at the same locations shown in Fig. 1. The petrels bred gathering in small numbers and laid under rock, Sixty-six adults were ringed from 1981 to 1984 and it seems that the breeding population is fewer than 100 birds.2. White-faced (or Streaked) Shearwater, Calonectris leucomelas. Many nest holes of the White-faced Shearwaters were widely distributed on gentle slopes in grassplateau in the centre of the island. Some birds incubated on bare ground under dwarf 'Gajumaru', Ficus retusa, and others incubated under large rocks. We could not estimate their population.3. Brown Booby, Sula leucogaster. The main colonies, which were used by almost all the birds, were found annually at areas A, B, C, and D shown in Fig. 2. On Nakanokami-shima Brown Boobies nested on ridges and on steep cliffs. Few birds nested in the rocky zone near the shore. Before noon on 3 July, 1981, a Maritime Safety Agency Helicopter flew over the eastern part of the island, surprising the settled birds and causing them to take flight one after another. It was possible at that time to make a total count and 250 birds were counted. Since the breeding pairs were taking care of chicks at that day, some parents were probably absent offshore. Clearly the population was larger than 250. A chick ringed on 29 June, 1980, at the main colony was recaptured at the same place on 21 August, 1983. The bird was in adult plumage, but was not breeding. This recovery record indicates that non-breeding immatures are also included among those attending the main colonies. Table 1 shows the results of an intensive search for nests during the breeding season of 1984. Nests on inaccessible cliffs in areas A-D were of course omitted. The annual breeding population was estimated approximately as about 200 to 500 birds.4. Red-footed Booby, Sula sula. This species was not known to breed in Japan before 1975, when we discovered a breeding pair on 27 August, 1975. The parent incubated one egg and its nest was builted on the canopy of dwarf 'Gajumaru' bush in area A in Fig. 2. On 24 June, 1976, 3 adults and 2 chicks were ringed at the same place, and on 30 June, 1977, one downy chick and parent were found again at the same place as in 1975. On 13 July, 1982, two fledglings and one adult were seen on the cliff in area E in Fig. 2.5. Bridled Tern, Sterna anaethetus. This, species was not known to breed in Japan until we found its breeding at the island on June, 1980. The Bridled Tern settled rocky zone near the shore, placing their eggs in the shelter of rocks. The locations of colonies in 1983, and 1984 are shown in Fig. 3. This tern is apparently an inshore feeder, remaining usually close to the colony. The estimated numbers were 120 birds in area A, and 40 in area B on June 30, 1980, about 1000 in area A, and 100 in area B on 2 July, 1981, and about 650 in area, A, and 50 in area B on 2 July, 1982. Since 1981 the numbers have increased markedly. The birds in attendance at these areas were in adult plumage, however considerable numbers of non-breeding, presumably immature, birds may make up part of these totals.

This study was undertaken to determine the relationship between quadriceps strength and balance to falls of institutionalized elderly people. The subjects comprised 25 elderly women aged 75.3 ± 3.4 years. The values of the postural sway in two standing positions, functional reach test, and quadriceps strength were compared between two groups of elderly adults, those with or without a history of fall. Quadriceps strength was measured using isometric contraction of the knee extension. There were no significant differences between the two groups in the postural sway in the two standing positions and the functional reach test. Quadriceps strength in the non-fall group was, however, significantly higher than that in the fall group (1.48 Nm/kg vs. 1.08 Nm/kg, p<0.01). The discriminating criterion for muscle strength between the two groups was 1.28 Nm/kg, with an apparent error rate of 24.8%. These findings suggest that (1) the degree of quadriceps strength may be a useful indicator for the prospect of fall in institutionalized elderly people, and (2) quadriceps strength should be maintained at least more than 1.28 Nm/kg to prevent fall.

A number of anticancer drugs exert their effect by causing DNA damage and subsequent apoptosis induction. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and super oxide anion (O2-), participate in apoptosis and DNA damage induced by some anticancer drugs, however, the precise mechanism of apoptosis via ROS formation remains to be clarified. I investigated the mechanism of apoptosis and DNA damage induced by anticancer drugs, especially topoisomerase inhibitors, using human cultured cells. TAS-103, a topoisomerase inhibitor, induces apoptosis through DNA cleavage and subsequent H2O2 generation mediated by poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) and NAD(P)H oxidase activation. Doxorubicin (DOX), an anthracycline antibiotic and topoisomerase inhibitor, induces apoptosis through direct oxidative DNA damage leading to indirect H2O2 generation mediated by PARP and NAD(P)H oxidase activation. DOX caused site-specific oxidative DNA damage in the presence of copper(II), which may contribute to apoptosis. These findings suggest that ROS formation plays important roles in apoptosis induced by anticancer drugs. Furthermore, these studies may provide an insight into the development of new effective chemotherapeutic drugs.

So far, little is known about the effect of nutrition and lifestyle on the composition of circulating lipoprotein subfractions. In the current study, we measured the correlations among physical activity, nutrient intake, smoking, body-mass index (BMI), and age with the concentration of triglycerides, cholesterol, phospholipids, and apolipoproteins (ApoA1, ApoA2 and ApoB) in subfractions of LDL and HDL in 265 healthy working men. Concentrations of cholesterol, phospholipids, and ApoB in small, dense atherogenic LDL particles (sdLDL) correlated negatively (p<0.001) with those of cholesterol, phospholipids, and ApoA1 in HDL2, respectively. Age correlated positively with sdLDL while increasing BMI correlated with an atherogenic shift of cholesterol, phospholipids, and ApoB from large, buoyant LDL (lbLDL) to sdLDL and decreasing concentrations of HDL2 constituents. Physical activity and alcohol intake correlated negatively with sdLDL constituents and positively with HDL2 components. Consumption of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) correlated with a lower ratio of sdLDL to HDL2 cholesterol. A favorable lipoprotein subfraction profile linked to a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease in men was associated with physical activity, moderate alcohol consumption, and dietary intake of MUFA, which might be exploited in future interventions for prevention of age- and BMI-associated atherogenic shifts of lipoprotein subfractions.

心不全は心筋障害により心筋のポンプ機能が低下し,末梢主要臓器の酸素需要に見合うだけの血液量を心臓が絶対的にまたは相対的に拍出できない状態にあり,肺または体静脈系にうっ血を来たし,生活機能に障害を生じた病態である.その病態は単に心臓のポンプ不全ではなく,心臓の異常により引き起こされた血行動態,神経体液性因子,腎臓などの全身の異常をともなう症候群としてとらえることができる.
