Harumi Shibukawa accomplished in 1684 the first domestic calendar-reform, the Jyokyo Kaireki that enabled him to get the newly established post in the Tokugawa Shogunate, Tenmon-Kata, specializing in the calender making and astronomical observation. Though several studies have been made on the scientific achievement of Harumi in modern Japan, many of them lack the synthetic approach to the astronomical knowledge at that time, paying little attention to such points as Nee-Confucianism and the social values in Pre-modern Japan. Jinzan Tani, a Confucian scholar who resided in Tosa and had long been eager to take astronomical lecture from Harumi, began in 1694 to correspond with Harumi in Yedo. He mastered all course of Harumi's astronomy in eight years and classified the correspondence under such topics as the reckoning adopted in Jyokyo calendar, the motion of the seven planets, the measuring longitudinal difference between Kyoto and Kagoshima, the phenomena of solar and lunar eclipse and Shintoism. He also compiled some books or rolls. Analysis of these records leads us to understand how the astronomical knowledge was transmitted in the beginning of the 18th century in Japan. Harumi's lecture covered not only the scientific measurements of the time and space but also the metaphysical importance of the pursuit of universe. Also we can see Harumi was under the influence of the thought of Ansai Yamazaki, who had sterted as a Zhuzi Confucian and later formed the Suika-Shintoism that advocated perfect correlation of the Heaven and the Ground. Harumi's pupils transmitted both the astronomical technologies and the knowledge of the Suika-Shintoism to the people in their home country. They contributed much to the education of natural sciences and moralities in the provinces.

This study analyzed by high performance gel permeation chromatography (HPGC) molecular forms of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in plasma from anesthetized dogs stimulated by balloon inflation at the main pulmonary artery (Group A, n=4), right atrial pacing (Group B, n=4) and low-molecular dextran injection to right atrium (Group C, n=4), Mean pulmonary arterial (PA) pressure, mean right atrial (RA) pressure, mean arterial pressure, heart rate and ECG were monitored by polygraph system Mean PA pressure in Group A, heart rate in Group B and mean RA pressure in Group C increased significantly by the stimulation (p<0.01, p<0.001 and p<0.05 respectively). Other parameters were not changed significantly in the three groups. There were significant increases in ANP concentration after the three stimulations (Group A : 52.4±5.4 (SD) pg/ml→86.4±12.2 (SD) pg/ml, Group B e 43.8±6.7 (SD) pg/ml→72.0±14.1(SD) pg/ml, Group C : 42.7±8.8 (SD) pg/ml→69.3±10.0 (SD) pg/ml; each p<0.01). Gel filtration profiles showed that the increased form of plasma ANP in the three nrouos was α-ANP. These results suggest that α-ANP may be a main molecular form in plasma from dogs stimulated by the stretch of pulmonary arterial wall and right atrial wall, and atrial pacing.

椅子からの立ち上がり動作の運動学的解析を行い,各筋群の機能的役割を考察した。計測方法 : ビデオ,床反力計,表面筋電図,及び殿部の離床を記録するためのマットスイッチ(自作)を用いて椅子からの立ち上がり動作を記録した。またビデオ,床反力計,表面筋電図は自作のトリガー発信器を用い同期記録した。分析結果 : 床反力は,動作開始直後下降,その後急上昇し,姿勢及び重心位置の変化を忠実に反映していると思われた。またその時の筋活動から立ち上がり動作開始時に体幹を前傾させることと重心位置を前下方へ移動させる原動力となっている筋群として縫工筋,大腿直筋さらに前脛骨筋が重要な役割を果たしていると考えられた。

症例1:66歳,男性。26歳時に菌状息肉症と診断されるも通院を中断。65歳時より紅斑が隆起しエトレチナート内服と紫外線照射を開始したが改善乏しく当科を受診。顔面と上肢に結節,潰瘍があり閉眼困難な状態。症例2:66歳,男性。21歳時に乾癬と診断。ステロイド外用・内服治療したが,緑内障を契機に中断。61歳時に体幹の皮疹が隆起し,潰瘍を形成し当科を受診。2例とも菌状息肉症腫瘍期と診断。低用量エトポシド内服と腫瘤病変への局所電子線照射の併用で潰瘍・腫瘤は数ヵ月で上皮化・平坦化した。治療に伴う重大な副作用は認めず,比較的短期間で患者のQOL向上を得た。近年,菌状息肉症に対する複数の新規治療薬が本邦でも発売され全身療法の選択肢が広がりつつある。一方でエトポシドのような古典的な抗癌剤でも電子線との併用で本報告のように著効が期待できる症例もある。併用療法が効果を示す機序はまだ不明であり,今後,症例数を蓄積する必要があると考える。

To examine the possibility of using guava fruits as an ingredient in daily-use ketchup with food functionality, we prepared purees of eight pink guavas that were obtained from different areas in Okinawa and their chemical and physical compositions by measuring the Brix, pH, and color. The eight kinds of guava purees showed little difference in their compositions, Brix, pH, and color values. In addition, the purees maintained their color values after heating at 80℃ for 5 min. The guava puree was then treated with pectinase to decrease the puree viscosity. The viscosity of the puree treated with pectinase (0.24 Pa・s) was lower than that of the untreated puree (0.6 Pa・s). The guava ketchup was prepared using the untreated guava puree. In the sensory evaluation, the guava ketchup scored low for sourness because the citric acid content was lower than that in the commercial tomato ketchups. To evaluate the antioxidant activity, guava ketchups prepared using guava purees with and without pectinase treatment (GK-P and GK, respectively) were examined for total polyphenol contents and DPPH radical-scavenging activities. The total polyphenol content and DPPH radical-scavenging activities were higher in guava ketchups than in the commercial tomato ketchups. Interestingly, GK-P showed significantly higher radical-scavenging activity than GK. These results suggest that guava fruits have the potential to be used in the manufacturing of ketchup, which could serve as an antioxidant food.

富栄養化の原因となるリン除去を目的に,赤玉土を土壌浸透浄化法へ適用するため,カラム法を用いてリン除去性能を把握する短期通水試験と共に,赤玉土のリン吸着寿命評価のため約7年間に渡る長期連続通水のリン吸着試験を実施した。その結果,土壌カラムのリン除去性能向上は,土壌との接触時間の維持確保,および,土壌層の厚み確保の双方が重要であることが明かとなった。リン吸着試験から,流出水リン濃度の急激な上昇が観測されるまでの累積リン吸着量はおよそ0.5~1.5 gP•kg-1の範囲と推察された。また,リン酸吸収係数の10%が土壌の浄化容量に相当し,施設設計のリン吸着寿命を推定する上で有効な指標となり得る。水質モニタリングから求めた累積リン除去量と累積リン吸着量はある程度一致し,本実験条件では,週2回程度の水質モニタリングにより吸着量を推定することができ,これによって実際の施設運用年数を推定することもできた。

The purpose of this paper is to use historical materiology to study the reliability of the personal history of Toru Shirai as described in Tenshinden Shirairyu Heiho Tsukaikata, written by Shirai’s disciple Okunojyo Yoshida. To do so, we clarify the descriptive form and contents of the biography, the source of the information used by Yoshida to write the history, and we verify the truth of the content. The conclusions of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) The biography of Toru Shirai as described in Tenshinden Shirairyu Heiho Tsukaikata is based on what Shirai himself wrote in Heiho Mitchishirube. However, information about Shirai’s birth and social position were added to the beginning, information about his experiences that occurred after Shirai wrote Heiho Mitchishirube were added to the end, and anecdotes about his kenjutsu practice after age 8, including his matches against swordsmen from different schools, were inserted in the middle of Tenshinden Shirairyu Heiho Tsukaikata. 2) The added information is described in concrete terms, and some of it must have been communicated directly from Shirai to Yoshida. Judging from the related sources, Yoshida seems to have kept records of what Shirai said. Therefore, details of Shirai’s birth, social position, and anecdotes about his kenjutsu practice and so on must have been described based on Yoshida’s records. In that sense, the added information can be said to have a fairly high reliability as a historical source. 3) As a result of the detailed verification of the truth of Shirai’s birth, social position, anecdotes about his encounter with the ascetic Tokuhon, and other matters, it has been proved that most of the information is true. We can, therefore, conclude that Shirai’s personal history in Tenshinden Shirairyu Heiho Tsukaikata, written based on Heiho Mitchishirube that Shirai himself wrote and what Shirai said, has a fairly high reliability as a historical source from the standpoint of historical materiology.

In this study, we evaluated the effect of the parameter of interest on the dynamic characteristics of the electric wheelchair thorough the automatic running experiment excluding the influence of human maneuvering and the mathematical stability analysis with the aim of investigating the cause of the low straightness of the front-drive electric wheelchair. Furthermore, from the experimental results, it was clarified that it is possible to effectively improve the straightness of the front-wheel drive wheelchair by using a control method that cancels the influence of centrifugal force.

魅力的な新製品が開発されながらも,流通がそのリスクを忌避することにより,市場導入が失敗に終わる流通構造があるとするならば,市場機会の損失が起こるとともに,長期的には市場全体の製品バラエティと魅力が減じることとなる.本研究では,家庭用ゲームソフト市場をケースとして,流通におけるリスクとリターンの構造の変化を追い,流通構造が新製品の市場機会遺失を生み,市場全体へ影響を与えることを示す.

Mass spectrometry (MS) is proud of its high-throughput and sensitivity in the proteomic studies. However, the measurement of DNA by MS has not been in practice mainly due to its inherently large molecular size, though various applications of genetic analysis have been proposed so far. Now in the post-genome era, one of the highest demands on the genome analysis is the single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping, which is, in principle, the determination of single nucleotide substitutions at specific sites. A number of different methods using MS have been developed for this purpose, and some of those enabling multiplex analysis have advantages over other gel- or hybridization-based methods.
