近年,個人で資産を形成するために,株式投資による人々の投資行動の需要が高まっている.株式投資において,将来の市場の動向を予測することは,投資家の投資リスクの低減や収益のために重要である.金融指標の一つに,ボラティリティ・インデックス(以下,VI )があり,これは投資家の市場に対する心理状態を表している.一方で,新聞メディアやソーシャルメディアの投稿には,社会情勢や人々の心理状態などを表しており,これらは,VI 指数に影響していると考えられる.本研究では,新聞記事とソーシャルメディアの投稿文書を用いて,日本における VI である日経平均VIの上昇を予測する.さらに,本研究の有用性を検証するために,予測した日経平均VIを用いてオプション取引の売買シミュレーションによる検証を行う.結果として,両メディアを用いることで日経平均VI上昇の予測精度の向上が確認され,売買シミュレーションにおいても収益に対する有用性が確認された.

1979年7月から2000年2月末まで当教室で経験したフッ化水素酸化学熱傷は9例で, すべて職業性曝露によるものであった. すべて男性で, 年令は20-53歳(中央値35歳, 平均36.8歳), 曝露時従事していた作業の内訳は, 洗浄作業6例, フッ化水素パイプラインの機器交換2例, 不明1例であった. 受傷部位は手・指がほとんどであった. 手・指受傷者の作業中の手の保護が十分でなかったものは5名であった. 受診時の症状としては表皮剥離程度から白色壊死・潰瘍形成までさまざまであった. 過去の報告例も含め総合的に考慮して見ると, 曝露事故の発生要因としてはおおむね, 1)作業中の油断, 特にベテランに多い慣れに伴うフッ化水素酸の危険性の軽視, 2)フッ化水素についての無知・認識不足, 3)手袋の穴に気づかないままの作業, 4)不慮の事故, の4つに分けられた. フッ化水素酸による皮膚障害は重篤になることが多いため, 作業従事者(特に中堅), 特定化学物質等作業主任者, 治療に当たる可能性のある医師への, 皮膚科医・産業医によるフッ化水素酸化学熱傷についての, 再教育あるいは啓蒙活動が必要と思われる. また市販のフッ化水素酸剤を使う小規模事業所の事業主や作業者については地域産業保健センターなどの活用が望まれる.

Intrathecal baclofen (ITB) therapy effectively treats spasticity caused by brain or spinal cord lesions. However, only a few studies compare the course of treatment for different diseases. We investigated the change in daily dose of baclofen per year and its associated adverse events in patients presenting with the three most common etiologies at our institute: hereditary spastic paraplegia, cerebral palsy, and spinal cord injury. The ITB pumps were implanted from July 2007 to August 2019, with a mean follow-up period of 70 months. In patients with hereditary spastic paraplegia, baclofen dosage was reduced after eight years following ITB introduction, and the treatment was terminated in one patient owing to disease progression. In patients with cerebral palsy, the dosage increased gradually, and became constant in the 11th year. Patients with spinal cord injury gradually increased their baclofen dosage throughout the entire observation period. Severity and adverse event rates were higher in patients with cerebral palsy than in others. The degree and progression of spasticity varied depending on the causative disease. Understanding the characteristics and natural history of each disease is important when continuing ITB treatment.

ナラタケ属菌は亜寒帯から亜熱帯にいたる世界中の森林に広く分布する菌であり,広葉樹および針葉樹に重大な根株腐朽病害をおこす病原菌を含むことが知られている.最近広く用いられるようになった分子生物学的手法によって,ナラタケ属菌の種間の系統関係や生態学的研究に新たな知見が得られた.本稿では,ナラタケ属菌の分類,系統関係,生態およびならたけ病の防除について概説する.また防除に関する話題として,近年緑地などでマルチ用資材として利用されている木材チップとナラタケ属菌について最近の研究を紹介する.

Background: Whether smoking is associated with worse quality of life (QoL) or not is relatively controversial. Current study is to investigate relationship between smoking and subjective QoL in a long cohort study.Methods: NIPPON DATA 90 project collected 8383 community residents in 300 randomly selected areas as baseline data in 1990, and 4 follow-up QOL surveys and mortality statistics were performed. We conducted multinomial logistic regression analysis to compare past smoker and current smoker to never smoker, of which impaired QOL and mortality as outcomes.Results: In 4 follow-ups, QOL data was collected from 2035, 2252, 2522 and 3280 participants, in 1995, 2000, 2005, 2012, respectively. In 1995 follow-up, current smoking at baseline was not associated with worse QOL. In 2000 and 2005 follow-up, smoking is significantly associated with worse QOL, OR = 2.11[95%CI: 1.33, 3.36, P<0.01], OR = 2.29[95%CI:1.38, 3.80, P < 0.001], respectively. In 2012 follow-up, smoking is not associated with QOL. Sensitivity analysis didn’t change the result significantly.Conclusions: In this study we found that baseline smoking is associated worse QOL in long-follow-up.

戦後,1949年の学制改革で新制大学が発足して以降,大学入試において常に医学部医学科(以下,「医学部」)は最難関であった.しかし,入試の中身をみると,教科試験中心だった入試から面接が重視されるようになり,共通一次試験導入で教科数が絞り込まれた個別(2次)試験は,近年は教科数が増加し,重視されるようになった.さらに,「地域枠」や「特定診療科枠」といった受験生の出身地を限定したり,入学時点で将来の進路の決定をせまったりする入試方式も生まれている.医学部入試の変遷を辿るとともに,今後予定されている大学入試改革で医学部入試が受ける影響についても言及したい.

Ciliary outer-arm dynein (OAD) consists of heavy chains (HCs), intermediate chains (ICs), and light chains (LCs), of which HCs are the motor proteins that produce force. Studies using the green alga Chlamydomonas have revealed that ICs and LCs form a complex (IC/LC tower) at the base of the OAD tail and play a crucial role in anchoring OAD to specific sites on the microtubule. In this study, we isolated a novel slow-swimming Chlamydomonas mutant deficient in the IC2 protein. This mutation, E279K, is in the third of the seven WD repeat domains. No apparent abnormality was observed in electron microscope observations of axonemes or in SDS-PAGE analyses of dynein subunits. To explore the reason for the lowered motility in this mutant, in vitro microtubule sliding experiments were performed, which revealed that the motor activity of the mutant OAD was lowered. In particular, a large difference was observed between wild type (WT) and the mutant in the microtubule sliding velocity in microtubule bundles formed with the addition of OAD: ~35.3 μm/sec (WT) and ~4.3 μm/sec (mutant). From this and other results, we propose that IC2 in an OAD interacts with the β HC of the adjacent OAD, and that an OAD-OAD interaction is important for efficient beating of cilia and flagella.Key words: cilia, axoneme, dynein heavy chain, cooperativity

In Japan, the Accounting Law has had a strong influence on public procurements including architect selection, and the proposal method has just begun to spread. However, its implementation has been supported by the personal efforts of the person in charge. In this paper, with the interview to the key person who has been struggling for good architect-selection and analyzed the process on practice. As a result, we confirmed the importance of the following three points: requirement-briefing, selection-committee, and creating opportunities for proposals. On the other hand, this know-how was based on his experience in many departments as a prefectural official.

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) has a tetraploid genome. To make a mutant lacking a specific gene function, it is necessary to introduce mutations into all four gene alleles. To achieve this goal, we developed a powerful genome editing tool, CRISPR/dMac3-Cas9, which installed the translation enhancer dMac3 that greatly increased the translation of the downstream open reading frame. The CRISPR/dMac3-Cas9 system employing three guide RNAs (gRNAs) greatly elevated the frequency of the generation rate of mutation. This system enabled to create the 4-allele mutants of granule-bound starch synthase (GBSS) and starch branching enzyme (SBE). These mutants indicated functionally defective features, suggesting that we succeeded in efficient genome editing of the potato tetraploid genome. Here, we show the effect of the number of gRNAs for efficient mutagenesis of the target gene using the mutants of the GBSS1 gene. CRISPR/dMac3-Cas9 employing three gRNA genes achieved a higher mutation efficiency than the CRISPR/dMac3-Cas9 with two gRNAs, suggesting being influenced by the dose effect of the number of gRNAs at the target region. The alleles of the SBE3 gene contained SNPs that caused sequence differences in the gRNAs but these gRNAs functioned efficiently. However, many rearrangement events and large deletions were induced. These results support the importance of accurate binding of gRNA to the target sequence, which may lead to a hint to avoid the unexpected mutation on the off-target sites.

Carbon dioxide electrochemical reduction (CO2ER) has attracted considerable attention as a technology to recycle CO2 into raw materials for chemicals using renewable energies. We recently found that Zn-Al layered double hydroxides (Zn-Al LDH) have the CO-forming CO2ER activity. However, the activity was only evaluated by using the liquid-phase CO2ER. In this study, Ni-Al and Ni-Fe LDHs as well as Zn-Al LDH were synthesized using a facile coprecipitation process and the gas-phase CO2ER with the LDH-loaded gas-diffusion electrode (GDE) was examined. The products were characterized by XRD, STEM-EDX, BF-TEM and ATR-IR spectroscopy. In the ATR-IR results, the interaction of CO2 with Zn-Al LDH showed a different carbonates evolution with respect to other LDHs, suggesting a different electrocatalytic activity. The LDH-loaded GDE was prepared by simple drop-casting of a catalyst ink onto carbon paper. For gas-phase CO2ER, only Zn-Al LDH exhibited the CO2ER activity for carbon monoxide (CO) formation. By using different potassium salt electrolytes affording neutral to strongly basic conditions, such as KCl, KHCO3 and KOH, the gas-phase CO2ER with Zn-Al LDH-loaded GDE showed 1.3 to 2.1 times higher partial current density for CO formation than the liquid-phase CO2ER.

教師が音楽のテープ, CDなどを聞かせるという受け身的な従来の音楽の鑑賞教育を改善するために, シンセサイザーを用いて音色の特徴を感じ取り, 感性を育てることにした. 6種類の楽器の音色が「白鳥」の曲に適合する度合を判断させることをAHPによる感性測定アンケートによって試みた. 楽器の音色の適合度を音楽に対する感性と考える. 音色の適合度と音楽能力について, 多変量解析した. 平均整合度によって, 児童を2グループに分けると, 音楽能力によってこの2グループがよく判別できることが判明した. 音楽能力において, 関心度は歌唱力と演奏力に関係があり, 歌唱力は演奏力に関係があることが分かった. 音の良さを適切に判断する能力の指標である整合度は, 関心度と演奏力に関係があることが分かった. 児童が感じた楽器の音色の適合度を非類似度として, クラスター分析した結果, 感じ方がおよそ4グループに分けられることが分かった. 児童が感じた6種類の楽器の音色の適合度と音楽能力とをそれぞれレーダーチャートに表して, 各児童の感性と音楽能力が視覚的に把握できるようにして指導しやすくした.

This paper gives a new analysis about the minimum current under the flux saturation for efficient drive of synchronous reluctance motors. This paper shows that the asymmetric flux saturation of the mirror-phase inductance causes the nonlinear minimum current trajectory, and derives newly the general analytical trajectory and a concrete approximated analytical trajectory.

Introduction: Older adults tend to refuse life-prolonging treatment for various reasons, and it is important to respect their choice of treatment at the end-of-life stage. The present study examines the associations of subjective economic status and gender with reasons for refusal of life-prolonging treatment in older adults in general population.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, using stratified random sampling, 1,595 older adults living in Koriyama City, Japan, as of 2016, completed self-administered questionnaires on subjective economic status and preference for life-prolonging treatment, with free-description regarding reasons for refusal. We analyzed the associations between the combination of subjective economic status and gender with frequently mentioned terms and their clusters regarding such reasons, using χ2 test, content analysis, text mining and hierarchical cluster analysis.Results: The combinations of subjective economic status and gender were significantly associated with clustered reasons for refusal of life-prolonging treatment (p < 0.01). The reasons frequently mentioned were: ‘avoidance of unnecessary medical care’ and ‘dignity’ in well-off females; and ‘financial burden on family’ in poor males.Conclusions: Our findings suggest that older adults who at first glance appear to be freely refusing life-prolonging treatment, may have their decision making restricted through economic constraints.

Cell-free massive MIMO (CF-mMIMO), which cooperatively utilizes a large number of antennas deployed over a communication area, has been attracting great attention as an important technology for realizing 5G-advanced and 6G systems. Recently, to ensure system scalability and mitigate inter-user interference in CF-mMIMO, a user-centric (UC) approach was investigated. In this UC approach, user-centric antenna-sets are formed by selecting appropriate antennas for each user, and postcoding is applied to reduce the strong interference from users whose antenna-sets overlap. However, in very high user density environments, since the number of interfering users increases due to increased overlapping of antenna-sets, the achievable link capacity may degrade. In this paper, we propose a user-cluster-centric (UCC) approach, which groups neighborhood users into a user-cluster and associates the predetermined number of antennas to this user-cluster for spatial multiplexing. We derive the uplink postcoding weights and explain the effectiveness of the proposed UCC approach in terms of the computational complexity of the weight computation. We also compare the uplink user capacities achievable with UC and UCC approaches by computer simulation and clarify situations where the UCC approach is effective. Furthermore, we discuss the impact of the number of interfering users considered in the zero-forcing and minimum mean square error postcoding weight computation on the user capacity.
