海洋生物などに由来する生理活性物質について、環形動物ウミケムシの炎症惹起物質コンプラニンをモデルに機能解明を目的として化学的研究を進めた。また植物成分からコンプラニンに構造が類似したアセチレンアミドを単離し、メラニン生成を阻害することを見出した。またGrubbs触媒によるジオールの開裂反応を見出し、生理活性について考察した。

Mt. Fuji was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2013, and has become very overcrowded as a result.While the Mt. Fuji World Cultural Heritage Council was considering how to make appropriate use of Mt. Fuji as a world cultural heritage site, Yamanashi Prefecture authorities submitted a plan for the construction of a Mt. Fuji mountain railway in February 2020 to promote Mt. Fuji tourism.It is claimed that the plan is a good system to eliminate CO_2 emissions from cars by constructing a mountain railway on a toll road, called the Subaru Line, from the foot of Mt. Fuji at Fuji-Yoshida to the fifth station of Mount Fuji.Along with the construction of the Mt. Fuji mountain railway, the plan envisages the construction of infrastructure facilities such as station buildings, power plants, accommodation, restaurants, and toilets around the fifth station as well as the construction of a walking trail called "Otyudou." Furthermore, the construction of an intermediate station is expected, which means that there is a great risk of destroying the nature of Mt. Fuji and damaging the environment and its landscape.Despite the tourism season being limited to three months a year till now, this plan would extend the railway operations throughout the year, including the winter months, which is extremely dangerous due to the poor winter weather conditions.In the area around the fifth station of the Subaru Line, new development activities are hypothetically strictly regulated under the Natural Parks Act and the Cultural Properties Preservation Act. The Yamanashi Prefecture authorities have submitted the construction plan for the Mt. Fuji mountain railway in spite of these regulations. The reason behind this risky project is that it has the support of the Abe administration, which is pursuing an excessive tourism policy.The Fuji World Cultural Heritage Council and conservationists are opposed to this plan. In the midst of these circumstances, the coronavirus pandemic has brought political and economic activity to a standstill, and the progress of the project has been suspended. However, as the coronavirus pandemic comes to an end, it is possible that the opposition movement will be activated and bring the project to an end.

Some studies started analyzing time series via complex networks in the noughties. A study reported that time series, which were transformed into networks via recurrence plots (RPs), especially k-nearest neighbor RP, exhibited superfamily phenomena resulting from the network motif analysis. However, it is not hard to imagine that the transformation properties drastically change the results of the motif analysis. In this study, we examine that by introducing another type of RP.As a result, the RP employed in this study works better for the superfamily phenomena among the time series than the previously used RP.

雄物川放水路は秋田市とその付近の平野の洪水氾濫防止と、流送土砂の堆積による港の機能障害に苦しんでた土崎港 (現秋田港) を雄物川本川から分離することを目的として開削された.本文は、秋田県民による雄物川改修事業の要望から、放水路事業の計画策定とその採択・着工に至る経緯、さらに、放水路工事と関連事業、特に土崎築港と放水路掘削土砂の埋め立てによる工場用地の造成事業の展開の経緯を時代背景や秋田市発展との関道から記述したものである.

The validity of the Tsai-Hill criterion for a porous aluminum alloy with regularly aligned unidirectional pores was investigated experimentally and numerically. The Tsai-Hill criterion predicts failure in different directions in anisotropic composite material. Compression tests of porous aluminum alloy were performed with five different compression angles 0, 30, 45, 60, and 90 deg. The compression angle is the angle between the loading direction and the longitudinal direction of the pore. A numerical analysis of a torsion test of the porous aluminum alloy was also performed to obtain shear strength. Compressive yield strength and equivalent shear strength of the specimen with 0 and 90 deg in compression angle were utilized in the Tsai-Hill criterion. As a result, the yield strength of the specimen with 30, 45, and 60 deg in compression angle was successfully predicted with a maximum relative error of 4 pct. The applicable strain range of the Tsai-Hill criterion was also investigated by altering the yield strength to various offset strengths. The resulted prediction showed a maximum relative error of 10 pct when the offset strain was 40 pct or less. Above that offset strain, densification of the porous structure caused a rapid increase in stress, leading to a drastic decrease in prediction accuracy.

The purpose of this paper is to assess the solar radiation load on thermal comfort in outdoor thermal environments. An urban street canyon and an open space were selected as sites for field survey. Outdoor climatic conditions, subject's thermal sensation and skin temperatures were measured on the sites for a few day in summer, autumn and winter. A modified mean radiant temperature was introduced to indicate the effect of solar radiation and radiation interchange between outdoor objects on the human body. An operative temperature and a standard operative temperature were calculated based on the modified mean radiant temperature. There are high correlation between the operative or standard operative temperature and thermal sensation or mean skin temperature. Those indices, especially the standard operative temperature, are considered to be effective in the outdoor environment.

要約:近年,静脈血栓塞栓症(venous thromboembolism: VTE)に直接経口抗凝固薬(direct oral anticoagulant: DOAC)を使用する機会が増えていると推測される.VTE 診療において,DOAC 内服下にアンチトロンビン(AT),プロテインC(PC),プロテインS(PS)などの先天性血栓性素因の検索が行われる場合,これらの凝固阻止因子活性はDOAC の種類や測定原理の違いにより影響を受けることがあり,先天性血栓性素因の診断が困難となる危険性がある.当研究室における,リバーロキサバン,エドキサバン,アピキサバンが各凝固阻止因子活性に与える影響についての検討では,Xa 法によるAT 活性は薬剤血中濃度に依存して偽高値を示し,PC 活性,PS 活性は,凝固時間法による測定においてDOAC の影響を受け偽高値となる可能性が示唆された.このような過大評価による疾患の見逃しを防ぐためにも,DOAC がAT,PC,PS 活性に与える影響およびこれらの検査項目の測定原理を十分に把握しておくことは極めて重要であり,DOAC 内服下に検査を行う場合は,DOAC 血中濃度が低下したタイミングでの検体採取が望まれる.

症例は20代, 男性。都内駅構内で何者かに突然液体をかけられ受傷した。現場で脱衣, 少量の流水で洗浄し日本赤十字社医療センターへ搬送された。現場で活動中の消防隊により液体はオキシ硫酸バナジウムと判明した。硫酸による化学熱傷と診断し, 来院時に多量の流水で洗浄し外用薬剤治療を開始した。受傷後約1週間後に上記受傷部を計10%程度のSDB~DDB相当と診断し, その後も軟膏による保存的治療を行った。さらに両側の角膜損傷も認めたため, 生理食塩液で眼球洗浄を行った。角膜損傷は両側角膜上皮欠損と診断され, ステロイドの内服と羊膜移植の後に, 治療用ソフトコンタクトレンズを使用した。皮膚, 角膜ともに良好な上皮化を得て, 受傷後約1カ月で退院した。その後外来治療を継続し, DDB相当の受傷部位は一部ケロイド瘢痕化, その他の部位は色素沈着となった。アシッドアタックによる化学熱傷は初期の十分な洗浄が重要である。

Japan recently approved a quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for males, but the 9-valent vaccine has only been approved for females. Given the low female vaccination rate due to concerns about adverse events in Japan, quantifying the risks and benefits of the HPV vaccination for males may help in deciding whether to vaccinate adolescent boys in Japan. Using quality-adjusted life years, the risk–benefit ratio for an adolescent boy receiving the 9-valent HPV vaccination was calculated. The male HPV vaccination reduced the QALYs gained due to head and neck cancer, anal cancer, penile cancer, genital warts, and recurrent respiratory papillomatosis by 401.63, 20.38, 9.40, 28.79, and 69.13 per 100,000 vaccinated persons, respectively. The total risk of vaccination was 11.85. The risk–benefit ratio for a 12-year-old boy who received the HPV vaccination series was found to be 0.022 (benefit–risk ratio, 44.670). In the sensitivity analysis, the risk–benefit ratio ranged from 0.0001 to 0.11 for all scenarios. Hence, much larger benefits than risks linked with the male HPV vaccination were observed from an individual perspective. The results support the inclusion of sex-neutral HPV vaccinations into the national immunization program as well as strengthens the decision for adolescent boys to receive the vaccination.

2015年9月に採択が予定されている国連の持続可能な開発目標は、環境面と貧困撲滅などの開発面を統合した国際目標である。本稿では、持続可能性概念の歴史を20世紀初頭のconservation movementにさかのぼり、この概念が当初から社会的側面を有していたことを論じる。併せて、Gattariが提唱した環境、社会、精神の3つのエコロジーに照らして、現代の持続可能性概念の到達点と展望を考察する。

Abstract: In our previous study, low-frequency, short-duration high-intensity interval training (HIIT) was performed for 8-12 weeks in untrained healthy subjects (Once a week, 3 sets, less than 10 minutes total training time), and the results showed that regardless of training intensity, maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and exhaustion time during maximal exercise increased by 6-13% and 33-89%. However, it is not clear whether similar results can be obtained in athletes who perform strenuous exercise on a daily basis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of HIIT at different intensities on cardiorespiratory function and exercise performance during maximal exercise in college athletes. The subjects were 13 male college student athletes. The training was determined for each individual using a ramp exercise test to determine the maximum load, divided into 80% (TG80%) or 90% (TG90%) intensity training groups. and conducted once a week for 8 weeks. The training consisted of three bouts of exercises to volitional fatigue at TG80% and TG90% maximum work rate. Regardless different of training intensity, increased VO2max (TG80%: +11%, TG90%: +12%) and maximal work rate during the ramp exercise test (TG80%: +13%, TG90%: +16%) in both groups were observed after HIIT (P <0.01). Maximal exhaustion time during the HIIT (TG80%: +110%, TG90%: +95%) was also significantly prolonged in both groups after training (P < 0.05). In conclusion, low-frequency for short-duration once a week HIIT improves cardiorespiratory function and exercise performance during maximal exercise for athletes, regardless of its training intensity. These findings will contribute to the development of new and optimal exercise programs for various age groups and people, even competitive athletes.
