Some seismograms of the destructive earthquake occurred on May 23rd, 1925 in North Tazima district, show distinctly so-called the Mohorovi_??_i_??_ wave _??_. One of them is shown in Fig. (4) magnified from the seismograms of Wiechert's 200kg. seismograph installed at the Central Meteorological Observatory in Tokyo. (Epicenter distance about 450km.)The author of the present paper has drawn the hodograph for the longitudinal wave P from the results of seismic observations of the meteorological stations in this country as well as the time difference between P and _??_ from seismograms of these stations in case when it revealed on it. Moreover the curve of _??_ is also drawn on the same diagram and is shown in Fig. (6).Nextly, the author has assumed that, to interprete the time curve the discontinuity layer exists not so far from the surface in the earth crust. Following numerical values are obtained:-Velocity of the longitudinal waveabove the discontinuity layer, v1=5.56km. per see.Ditto under the discontinuity layer, v2=7.50km. per see.Epicenter distance of stations where Pand _??_ waves arrive simultaneously Δ0-120km.Difference of T(P)-T(_??_), shown in Fig. (6) is 6.2 sec.From these values, the depth of the discontinuity layer and that of the seismic foeus of this earthquake is determined. He has also compared the time of occurrence with those of the other two great earthquakes which have occurred on Jan. 15th, 1924 and Sept. 1st, 1923 respectively in Fig. (1); and ascertained that the geographical effect is not so great in these time-curves that the following conclusion may hold good in its main figure, even in any earthquake which occurred everywhere in this country.Followings are main results obtained in this paper:-(1) So called “initial movement” takes place with sudden change in its magnitude, and sometimes in direction, at the place about 100-200km. distant from the epicenter. Fig. (5).(2) The epicenter distance above mentioned depends chiefly upon the depth of seismic focus, therefore the depth may be estimated by this means. (3) I_??_itial movement must be very weak at the stations which lie within the epicenter distance, from 200km. to 1000km. approximately.(4) For the determination of the direction of epicenter from that of the initial movement of longitudinal wave, it is better to use _??_ phase than P and this will be done with much accuracy and easiness. (5) Depth of the discontinuity layer and that of the focus of Tazima-earthquakes are calculated and their values have been found to be about 42km. and 32km. respectively.(6) S-phase of the transverse wave begin to appear gradually o_??_ seismogram and with increasing epicenter distance it becomes more distinct.(7) Irregular form of isochronal curves may be considered as the effect of the discontinuity layer whose depth may not be definite in a part of the earth-crust of this part of the globe.(8) Well known “Omori's formula” which expresses the relation between the duration of preliminary tremor and epicenter distance, may hold good with _??_ and _??_ phases for the region of small epicenter distance and with P and L phases at distant places.The present paper is a preliminary report and the more complete studies will follow in a near future.

16歳齢,去勢雄の雑種猫が食欲不振,体重減少を主訴として来院し,頸部腹側に2cm大の皮下腫瘤が触知された.血液検査において総カルシウム及びイオン化カルシウムの高値を認めた.症例のintact上皮小体ホルモン(parathyroid hormone:PTH)は基準範囲内であったが,実験的に高カルシウム血症を誘発した健常猫において報告されたintact PTHと比較すると高い値であり,血清イオン化カルシウム濃度に対応したPTH抑制調節の破綻が推測された.画像検査により頸部腫瘤は腫大した上皮小体であることが疑われた.外科切除した腫瘤は病理組織検査において上皮小体腺腫と診断された.術後に総カルシウム値及びイオン化カルシウム値は速やかに正常化し,2年間の観察期間に再発は認められなかった.

Hesperidin, which is called vitamin P, is a flavonoid compound abundantly occulting in citrus fruit peel. This material is well known to decrease capillary fragility and permeability. In addition, hesperidin is reported to have various physiological activities. Therefore, it has attracted attention as a multifunctional food ingredient. However, the use of this flavonoid in the field of foods has been limited because of its low water solubility. To solve this problem, we developed a soluble derivative of hesperidin, glucosyl hesperidin, which was synthesized by regioselective transglycosylation with cyclodextrin glucanotransferase from Bacillus stearothermophilus. Glucosyl hesperidin was very soluble in water, and its solubility was about 100, 000 times greater than that of conventional hesperidin. Moreover, the metabolic fate of this glucoside was investigated. As a result, it was verified that orally administered glucosyl hesperidin was hydrolyzed?to?hesperidin by small intestinal α-glucosidases, and that released hesperidin was hydrolyzed to hesperetin by β-glucosidases from intestinal bacteria before absorption. Glucosyl hesperidin was also confirmed to exhibit such physiological activities as improvement effect on microcirculation, antihypertensive effect and decrease of serum triglyceride level.?From these findings, glucosyl hesperidin is considered to be available effectively as a soluble vitamin P supplement in the field of functional foods.

イノベーション研究の定量研究は,そのデータ源が多様化しつつある.本稿は,イノベーションの計測,イノベーションをめぐるアクター間の関係性の操作化の新潮流を,2010年以降に行われた国内外のイノベーション研究のレビューから描き出した.とくに,イノベーションの計測におけるテキスト情報の利用,そして,ユーザーの手によるデータの利用,また,アクター間の関係性を計測可能なデータの利用が,イノベーション研究の展開を豊かにしている傾向がうかがわれた.

Understanding of the tropical atmosphere is elaborated around two elementary ideas, one being that density is homogenized on isobars, which is referred to as the weak temperature gradient (WTG), and the other being that the vertical thermal structure follows a moist-adiabatic lapse rate. This study uses simulations from global storm-resolving models to investigate the accuracy of these ideas. Our results show that horizontally, the density temperature appears to be homogeneous, but only in the mid- and lower troposphere (between 400 hPa and 800 hPa). To achieve a homogeneous density temperature, the horizontal absolute temperature structure adjusts to balance the horizontal moisture difference. Thus, water vapor plays an important role in the horizontal temperature distribution. Density temperature patterns in the mid- and lower troposphere vary by about 0.3 K on the scale of individual ocean basins but differ by 1 K among basins. We use equivalent potential temperature to explore the vertical structure of the tropical atmosphere, and we compare the results assuming the temperature following pseudo-adiabat and reversible-adiabat (isentropic) with the effect of condensate loading. Our results suggest that the tropical atmosphere in saturated convective regions tends to adopt a thermal structure that is isentropic below the zero-degree isotherm and pseudo-adiabatic above it. However, the tropical mean temperature is substantially colder and is set by the bulk of convection, which is affected by entrainment in the lower troposphere.

The present study examined the effect of the token economy on clean-up behavior among family members. We conducted experiments with one family (1 man and 3 women), in which the family members consented to the introduction of the token economy. The introduction of the token economy among family members (experiment 1) and the new physical environmental setting that introduced a display shelf for cloths (experiment 2) resulted in an increase in clean-up behavior as a household task. The goods and cloths left in the living room of the home were put in the storage space. In other words, the results demonstrated the effectiveness of the token economy and the new physical environmental setting (introducing a display shelf for cloths).

Running economy (RE), which is evaluated at an exercise intensity below the lactate threshold (LT), is recognized as the most important physiological variable for estimating running performance. However, middle- and long-distance athletes run above LT intensity during their competitive events. This study elucidates the relation between 1,500-m running performance and physiological variables, including RE measured at intensities below and above the LT. The study included 34 male distance runners (1,500-m velocity: 22.2 ± 0.8 km·h−1, equivalent to race times of 4′03″2 ± 8″5). RE was calculated at four running velocities selected to provide intensities of 90%LT and 95%LT below LT (REbLT) and 105%LT and 110%LT above LT (REaLT). RE was determined from aerobic energy metabolism, calculated from oxygen uptake and the respiratory exchange ratio, combined with anaerobic energy metabolism, calculated from the change in blood lactate concentration. Results show that the 1,500-m velocity was not related to maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) or LT intensity (r = 0.19 and 0.10, respectively). This velocity correlated with both REaLT and REbLT, with the correlation coefficient being higher for REaLT (r = −0.65 and −0.71 vs −0.56 and −0.58). Furthermore, the coefficient of determination for 1,500-m velocity determined from VO2max, LT intensity and REaLT was higher than that determined from VO2max, LT intensity and REbLT (R2 = 0.603 and 0.640 vs 0.415 and 0.543). These results suggest that RE measured at an intensity above LT intensity may be better than other physiological variables for estimating 1,500-m running performance.

It was not until the late 1990s That inner Tokyo started to regain population. This paper explores the extent of that shift and it is argued that population recovery in Minato Ward in inner Tokyo differs from the nature of 'gentrification' observed in Western countries.The 'bubble era' of the late 1980s resulted in rapid land price inflation, land speculation on inner city plots and involved a considerable area of land while displacing former residents. The idea that Tokyo was becoming a 'global city' supported land speculation for office and commercial demands. Inner Tokyo continued to lose population in the late 1980s as a consequence of competition with business and commercial land use. Tokyo Wards implemented various policies to prevent the further outflow of residents, which included rent subsidies to renters and the substitution of mortgage interests exceeding 2%. The Wards also leased rented housing to household renters, and issued guidelines to locate rental family-sized housing in newly-built office buildings.After the collapse of the 'bubble', however, office and commercial demands suddenly disappeared and land prices fell rapidly. The financial crisis induced firms to sell or utilize their land for housing. By the late 1990s, high rise apartments were built on such speculated land. GIS-based mapping analysis revealed that the construction of public and private housing mainly contributed to population recovery, followed by the opening of new subway stations.A questionnaire survey was conducted to examine who had moved into the newly-provided housing in the inner city. Data were collected on household type, occupation, former residential location and reasons for the move.The survey revealed that single female households and double income couples with no children predominated in the private housing sector. The main reason for the move was proximity to workplace. This reflects the fact that movers into the inner city mainly consist of households placing a higher priority on employment than on nurturing children. Couples with children would move into the inner city if they secured low cost (public) housing. Many constraints still prevent the inflow of households with children, such as high housing cost in both private rented housing and owner occupied housing, and limited nursery school capacity.The provision of public housing, which is a counter policy to the population decline, results in relatively low income households returning to the inner city. Subsequent private housing construction which was caused by the collapse of the 'bubble' attracts different types of households from a wider area. Population recovery in inner Tokyo differs from gentrification in the West in that it is not limited only to more affluent people relocating to the inner city.

The author examines the features of pedagogical content knowledge (pck) and its implications. Pck was first contrived by L. S. Shulman. He was indicated pck as very important knowledge among teacher knowledge base. Pck is combined knowledge, including knowledge of content, pedagogy and knowledge of the learner's conceptions and preconceptions, including misconceptions. And pck is invented by teacher who will teach some topics. Pck is producted through the process of pedagogical reasoning (pr). Shulman especially emphasized transformation in that process. Transformation is constituted by four process, preparation, representation, selection and adaptation & tailoring to student characteristics. The features of pck is as follows. (1) pck is amalgam of some knowledge (2) pck is producted through pr which is the problem-solved process (3) pck is special forms of teacher knowledge which indicates the features of professional aspects of teaching The implication of pck from point of teacher education, is the next two points. (1) pck points out the importance of the courses of content and method (2) pck indicates the needs of means for 'apprenticeship of observation' formed before entering the teacher education program The contents are as follows. 1. 本研究の目的は、K-DiPSアプリを用いて、鹿児島県肝付町における医療機器・処置や薬剤などを要する要支援者を把握し、GISを用いて津波と土砂災害の被災リスクを明らかにすることである。58人の年齢の中央値(範囲)は、86.5(1–100)歳で、女性34人(58.6%)、医療機器を4人が使用していた。内服薬は243、内服以外は51種類だった。津波浸水想定区域に5人、土砂災害警戒区域に6人が居住し1区域は特別警戒区域だった。浸水想定区域の要支援者の避難準備時間を5分、時速1.66 kmで避難した場合に、5人全員が時間内に浸水想定区域外、もしくは近接の津波避難タワーに退避が可能と推定された。タワーへ避難した場合、津波流入方向に向かって移動する者が2人だった。アプリを用いることで詳細かつ最新の状態を把握できる可能性がある。GISによる可視化は、要配慮者と具体的な避難行動を検討する際に有効である。

セレン(Se)やテルル(Te)は硫黄と同じ第16族元素であり、類似した化学的性質を示す。生体必須元素であるSeは、化学形態によって生理活性や毒性が異なることが知られているが、非必須元素であるTeについて化学形態に着目した情報は少ない。最近我々の研究グループは、Se代謝能が高く様々なSe含有アミノ酸やその誘導体を産生するニンニクに無機Te化合物のテルル酸を曝露すると、Te含有アミノ酸を含む複数のTe代謝物が産生されることを報告した。本研究では、植物が産生するTe代謝物の動物への生体影響を評価するために、テルル酸を曝露したニンニクの葉をラットに投与し、Teの体内挙動および毒性を解析した。 雄性Wistar系ラットにテルル酸を曝露したニンニクの葉懸濁液(garlic Te群)、比較としてテルル酸(tellurate群)を0.1 mg Te/kg体重/日となるよう7日間経口投与した。対照群には精製水を投与した。7日間の尿と、解剖して得られた臓器および血中のTe濃度をICP-MSで分析した。また、ALT, AST, BUNなど10項目の生化学パラメータを測定した。 Te濃度測定の結果、Teを投与した両群のラットにおいて腎臓で最も高く、摂取した化学形態に依らずTeは腎臓に集積しやすいことが示唆された。Garlic Te群とtellurate 群を比較すると、臓器および血液中のTe濃度はgarlic Te群で2倍以上の高値を示し、特に全血では約10倍と顕著であった。一方、尿中Te排泄量はtellrurate群で有意に多かった。血清中の生化学パラメータ測定の結果、Teを投与した両群において、いずれのパラメータも対照群との間に有意な差は見られなかった。以上より、植物Te代謝物は赤血球に取り込まれることにより生体内に保持されやすいと示唆され、従って、長期的な摂取による毒性影響発現の可能性が懸念される。

コロナ禍では人間活動が物理空間からサイバー空間にシフトし、無理矢理デジタル化が急速に進められたと言える。その中で、デジタル技術の便利さを最大限活かすためには、これまでの競争一辺倒ではなく、データや経験を共有するおおらかなマインドが極めて重要であることが判りつつある。本稿では、COVID-19肺炎画像解析ならびに遠隔教育について実践例からその重要性を紹介する。

岡山県東部から兵庫県西南部には舞鶴帯と超丹波帯を構成する地層・岩石が広く分布する.舞鶴帯の主体をなすペルム系舞鶴層群は,その岩相と層序から付加体とみなすことは難しいが,地理的にはペルム紀の付加体と解釈される秋吉帯と超丹波帯の構成岩類に挟まれて分布している.このように中国地方東部から近畿地方北部の西南日本内帯には,ほぼ同年代でかつ性格の異なる地帯が狭い地域内に並列して分布する.この見学コースでは,ともにペルム紀の陸源砕屑岩を主体とする舞鶴層群と超丹波帯の上月層,舞鶴層群を不整合に覆う三畳系福本層群など,舞鶴・超丹波両帯に属する地質体の岩相や地質構造等を観察する.そして,それらが堆積・形成されたテクトニクスの重要性を再確認したい.

本調査研究では,スクールソーシャルワーカー(SSWer)配置プログラムモデルに準拠した取り組みに関する全国調査の結果分析を通じて,まず,全国のSSWer配置プログラムの実施状況を明らかにし,そのうえで,その実施状況が期待される効果(アウトカム)に結びついているかどうかを示す.これにより,効果的SSWer配置プログラム構築に向けた示唆を得ることを目的とする.分析方法は,155自治体のSSWer 372人のデータを活用した量的分析により,SSWerによるプログラム実施状況および,その実施状況とSSWer自身が評価する効果(アウトカム)との相関をみた.結果,SSWerはかなり多くの効果につながる実践を行っていること,そして配置形態によって実践内容も効果も異なることが明らかになった.これにより,SSWer配置プログラムをより効果的にするための示唆を得た.
