症例は48歳の男性. 発熱, 腹痛を主訴に来院, 腹部全体に反跳痛, 筋性防御が認められ, 汎発性腹膜炎の診断にて開腹した. 手術所見では漿液性腹水少量, 小腸間膜の肥厚, 発赤を認めるのみであった. 腸間膜脂肪織炎を疑い一部生検を施行し, 閉腹した. 術後39℃の発熱が8日目まで持続したが, γ-globulin投与したところ平熱化し, 炎症は鎮静化した. 病理組織所見では, 変性脂肪細胞, 炎症細胞浸潤, 微小膿瘍が認められ, 脂肪織炎と診断した. 腹水細菌培養は陰性であった.腸間膜脂肪織炎は原因不明の比較的稀な疾患であり, その臨床像は多彩なため診断は困難で確立した治療法はない. 今回, 我々はγ-globulin投与が奏効したと思われる1例を経験したので文献的考察を加え報告する.

Satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc.) has two GA 20-oxidase genes, CuGA20ox1 and CuGA20ox2, and the genomic sequence for CuGA20ox1 is shorter than that for CuGA20ox2, although the coding region of cDNA for CuGA20ox1 is slightly longer than that for CuGA20ox2. Southern blot analysis revealed that 12 Citrus cultivars examined and trifoliate orange [Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf.] have at least two types of GA 20-oxidase genes, such as CuGA20ox1 and CuGA20ox2 genes. CuGA20ox1 and CuGA20ox2 were differentially expressed in various tissues. CuGA20ox1 was expressed in almost all of the tissues investigated with relatively higher expression in vegetative than in reproductive tissues, whereas CuGA20ox2 was specifically expressed in flower buds just before anthesis. These distinct expression patterns of CuGA20ox1 and CuGA20ox2 imply that function of these two genes diverged in the process of evolution. The specific and relatively higher expression of CuGA20ox2 in flower buds would explain why GA-like activity was higher in Satsuma mandarin’s ovaries at anthesis. Transgenic Arabidopsis [Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh] plants ectopically expressing CuGA20ox1 or CuGA20ox2 were examined to elucidate the function of these two Satsuma mandarin genes. Phenotypic analysis revealed that both CuGA20ox1 and CuGA20ox2 caused elongated inflorescence but did not affect the timing of flowering in transgenic Arabidopsis as compared with wild-type controls. Ectopic expression of CuGA20ox1 and CuGA20ox2 significantly affected the levels of GA24 and GA34 on the non-13-hydroxylation pathway; GA24 decreased and GA34 increased. This observation indicates that both CuGA20ox1 and CuGA20ox2 accelerated the conversion of GA24, a substrate of a GA 20-oxidase, to GA9, a precursor of an active form of GA4. Likewise, on the early-13-hydroxylation pathway, ectopic expression of CuGA20ox1 significantly decreased GA19 and increased GA29 and GA8, inactive metabolites of 2-hydroxylation of GA20 and GA1, respectively, suggesting the activation of this biosynthetic pathway. CuGA20ox2 also had a tendency to activate the early-13-hydroxylation pathway although it increased only GA20 with a statistically significant difference. Taken together, we concluded that CuGA20ox1 and/or CuGA20ox2 activated both the early-13- and non-13-hydroxylation pathways for increasing active GAs, resulting in elongated inflorescences in transgenic Arabidopsis.

In this letter we present an imperceptible and robust watermarking algorithm that uses a cryptographic hash function in the authentication application of digital medical imaging. In the proposed scheme we combine discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and local image masking to detect the watermark after a geometrical distortion and improve its imperceptibility. The image quality is measured by metrics currently used in digital image processing, such as VSNR, SSIM and PSNR.

人文社会科学では,「物語」(narrative)は,人間,あるいは人間が織りなす社会の動態を理解するにあたって重要な役割を担うものと見なされてきている.それ故,人間や社会を対象として,その動態に,公共的な観点からより望ましい方向に向けた影響を及ぼさんと志す“公共政策”全般においても,“物語”は重大な役割を担い得る.ついては,本研究では物語に関する基礎的な人文社会科学研究である,西洋哲学,解釈学,歴史学,歴史哲学,文芸批評,心理学,臨床心理学・社会学,民俗学などの主たる学術系譜のそれぞれをレビューすることを通して,プラグマティックな観点から“物語”がどのように公共政策に援用可能であるのかを論ずる.

Influenza A virus is a major human and animal pathogen with the potential to cause catastrophic loss of life. Influenza virus reproduces rapidly, mutates frequently, and occasionally crosses species barriers. The recent emergence of swine-origin influenza H1N1 and avian influenza related to highly pathogenic forms of the human virus has highlighted the urgent need for new effective treatments. I describe two crystal structures of complexes made by fragments of PA and PB1, and PB1 and PB2. These novel interfaces are surprisingly small, yet they play a crucial role in regulating the 250 kDa polymerase complex, and are completely conserved among swine, avian and human influenza viruses. Given their importance to viral replication and strict conservation, the PA/PB1 and PB1/PB2 interfaces appear to be promising targets for novel anti-influenza drugs of use against all strains of influenza A virus. It is hoped that the structures presented here will assist the search for such compounds.

Des études sur la diffusion de particules sont effectuées en France depuis 1953 à l’Etablissement d’Etudes et Recherches Météorologiques du Service de la Météologie Nationale. Elles portent sur deux problemes particuliers, celui d’une quantité finie de particules instantanément libérée en un point (cas des flocons de fumée) et celui d’une émission continue de particules, à débit constant, à partir d’un point situé au-dessus du niveau du sol (cas du panache de fumée).  Nous nous proDQSons dans cet article d’exposer l’état actuel de ces études.

わが国におけるヒトのリステリア症から分離されたリステリア菌の血清型は1型或いは1b型と4b型がほとんどである. そのほかの血清型として, 著者の一人永井は1974年に4d型, 1977年に2型の分離症例を感染症学雑誌に報告している.1980年5月, 胆石症で札幌医大病院第一外科に入院, 胆石の摘出手術をうけた患者 (23歳, 女性) の手術時に採取した胆汁からリステリア菌が純培養の形で分離された.分離菌株 (越前株) はグラム陽性の短桿菌で, 生物学的諸性状はリステリア菌に一致する. リステリア菌標準菌株の免疫血清 (O血清とH血清) について定量凝集反応および吸収試験を実施した結果, 越前株はリステリア菌3型と同定された.リステリア菌3型の分離ははじめてなので念の為, 越前株の免疫血清 (O血清とH血清) を作製して, 交叉的に定量凝集反応と吸収試験を行った結果, 越前株はまちがいなくリステリア菌3型であることが証明された.本症例は胆石症であって臨床的に胆嚢炎などの炎症は全く認められていない. 従って胆汁から分離された越前株と胆石症の間には因果関係はないものと思われる.リステリア菌が健康人の糞便から0.5%の割合で見出されるという報告があるが, 本症例は胆汁中に潜伏的に存在する可能性を示唆する点が興味深く思われる.

The effects of recollection and familiarity on recognition memory in the Concealed Information Test (CIT) were investigated. In the learning phase, participants encoded 20 words that were presented in one of four frames on a personal computer screen. Next, in the recognition test, the participants were divided into “Remember judgment (Recollection)” or “Know judgment (Familiarity)” groups, based on their Remember/Know judgment when recognizing learned items. In the CIT phase, physiological responses to questions about learned (i.e., critical) and non-learned (i.e., non-critical) items were measured and recorded. The results indicated that there was a deceleration of respiration speed (RS), an increase in skin conductance response (SCR), and a drop in heart rate in responses to critical items for both groups. Furthermore, the effect sizes of RS and SCR were greater in the “Remember judgment” group compared to the “Know judgment” group. These results suggest that critical response patterns are generated by recollection and familiarity. However, the more vividly participants recognized critical items the larger were the magnitudes of RS and SCR response patterns.

This paper is concerned with the discussion on the characterization of carbon-gel developed in the carbon black filled rubber systems. A limit of NMR method for the characterization was also discussed. There exists less mobile rubber molecules and highly mobile ones in the carbon-gel. The less mobile rubber molecules cannot be removed by the good solvent for rubber and they contribute to the reinforcement. The highly mobile ones can be extracted by the good solvent depending on molecular weight of rubber and conditions for the extraction. Therefore, the reinforcement of filled rubber systems cannot be simply related with the content of carbon-gel.

The charter which was given to the Dutch East India Company under the authority of the States General is, no doubt, one of the most prominent documents in the history of the Netherlands. The charter kept its, authority essentially unchanged for nearly 200 years. As Clive Day says in his Dutch in Java, the Company has no history in true sense of the word; its principles remained the same, and the basic idea of the Company continued to resist the course of time.Nevertheless, careful scrutiny will reveal noteworthy changes:1) A dispute between Director and Participants from 1620 to 1623 resulted in the success of the former, and in the apathy of the latter Directors brought their “despotic power” into effect.2) The Dutch East India Company came to power in Java, or to the, “upper landlord” through “Javanese Wars of Succession.” This, of course, produced structural changes in the Company system. The Company headquarter in the Netherlands was in no will to confirm these changes.3) The Company came to ruin after the Fourth Anglo-Dutch War. (1780-1784). The rise of Britain proved to be the fall of the Netherlands, leading to civil conflict in the Dutch homeland. The decline of the Company is one of the most fascinating phases of its life.There were considerable debates as to whether the Company should be built up or not. One of the founders, Johann van Oldenbarnevelt, said that people in the Netherlands opposed to an exclusive According to Klerk de Reus, the Company came into being in accordance with the “Demand of time.” The States General gave Company right to wage war and to negotiate with foreign petty princes, and made the Company its partner in accordance with the law of the Dutch Commonwealth.
