Point・ジストニアの治療戦略において,定位・機能神経外科は不可欠の治療手段である.・ジストニアに対する定位・機能神経外科の主な治療ターゲットは,淡蒼球内節(GPi)と視床吻側腹側(Vo)核である.・脳深部刺激療法(DBS)が主流であるが近年,神経核凝固術が再評価されつつある.

近年,汎用 Ethernet デバイスの低価格化,高機能化から,機器間の通信に,独自の専用バスではなく,汎用 Ethernet を使いたいという要求が高まっている.しかし,Ethernet は一般的にスループット向上を目指すベストエフォート型であり,通信の定周期性が問題となることが多い.そこで,IEEE は,Ethernet 上で時間制約のある通信を行うことを目的として,TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking) を策定中である.TSN を実現するためには,送信タイミングのスケジューリングが重要であり,この実現に向けて,Linux は,2018 年 10 月に ETF (Earliest TxTime First) 機能を導入した.本機能により,Network Interface Controller が搭載するフレーム送信タイミング指定機能を,アプリケーションから利用可能となる.そこで,組込み Linux 上での TSN 通信の実現可能性を確認するため,組込み機器上で ETF 機能を用いた場合のフレーム送信周期のぶれを評価した.結果,ETF 機能を利用しない通常送信において,1ms 周期のフレーム送信の最大値と最小値の差は 20us 程度となった.対して,ETF 機能を利用した場合,最大値と最小値の差は 55ns となり,送信タイミングのぶれは 10 ナノ秒オーダとなることが判明した.一般的な TSN 通信のユースケースではマイクロ秒の精度が求められるが,通常送信の場合,フレーム送信タイミングは最悪 20us 程度ぶれるため,TSN 通信は現実的でない.これに対し,ETF 機能を利用した場合,フレーム送信タイミングは 10 ナノ秒オーダのぶれに収まるため,組込み Linux においても TSN 通信が実現可能となる見込みを得た.

古今集三番歌「春霞たてるやいづこ」には「たたる」の本文を持つ伝本が存在し、この歌を再録した歌集にも「たたる」の本文を持つものは少なくない。この「たたる」の語法は万葉集の東歌・防人歌に見られるものと同一起源であり、平安初期の人々にとって風俗歌などを通じて、特殊ではあるがなじみのある表現だったのではないか。しかし、平安後期になるにつれ、なじみが薄れた結果「たてる」の本文に取って変わられたと考えられるのである。

出生順位に関する研究は, 精神医学, 心理学, その他広い領域に亘つて行なわれているが, その研究手段として用いられる統計的推測の考え方や手続きは, いくつかの代表的な研究においてさえも誤つて用いられているものが多く, 再検討の必要がある。著名なC. Schoolerの研究は多くの研究者達がおかす共通の誤りを示す好例であり, 彼の研究をとりあげて推測統計学の立場から, その考え方や手続きの誤り, 殊に, 誤差の評価について論評した。

Liver-type fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) is a biomarker for the early detection of renal diseases in humans. L-FABP is a cytotoxic oxidation product secreted from the proximal tubules under ischemic and oxidative stress conditions. First, L-FABP gene expression in the kidney and liver was evaluated. Next, the urinary L-FABP concentrations in dogs with or without renal diseases were measured using a novel enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. Urinary L-FABP was normalized relative to urinary creatinine (uCre) concentrations (μg/g uCre). Finally, the relationships between urinary L-FABP and renal biomarkers used in canine medicine or serum alanine transaminase (ALT) as an indicator of liver damage were examined. Serum and urine samples from 94 client-owned dogs including 23 dogs with renal diseases and 71 dogs without renal diseases were used for analysis. Relative L-FABP gene expression was confirmed both in the liver and kidney. Dogs with renal diseases had a significantly higher urinary L-FABP than those without, and its predictive cutoff value was 26 μg/g uCre. Urinary L-FABP was significantly correlated with serum creatinine (r=0.4674, P<0.01), urea nitrogen (r=0.4907, P<0.01), urine specific gravity (r=−0.5100, P<0.01), and urine protein/creatinine ratio (r=0.7216, P<0.01), but not with serum ALT. Hence, dogs with a high urinary L-FABP value were more likely to have renal diseases.

A 3-year-old male domestic shorthair cat presented with sudden ataxia. Neurologic examination showed complete loss of proprioception in the thoracic and pelvic limbs. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a non-metallic foreign body penetrating the spinal cord. The foreign body was removed by the ventral approach to the atlanto-occipital junction. Mild improvement of proprioception was observed the day after surgery. In a follow-up two months after surgery, the owner reported a complete recovery of the patient, showing a normal gait. To the author’s knowledge, this is the first case report describing successful removal of an intramedullary foreign body penetrating cervical spinal cord by ventral approach in a cat.

Rhodotorula mucilaginosa are saprophytic yeast, and opportunistic infections known as human rhodotorulosis are increasing in immunocompromised patients. In this study, we isolated R. mucilaginosa from pet dogs in Japan and determined the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of antifungal drugs on these isolates to investigate the drug susceptibility pattern. All 10 isolates according to the broth microdilution (BM) assay of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) M27-A2 were resistance to azoles and genetically close to fluconazole (FLZ)-resistant human isolates of R. mucilaginosa. Due to resistance, it is expected that treatment will be difficult if they infect humans.

This study aimed at devising a teaching strategy and a learning tool for effectively acquiring the concept of a simple pendulum, and examining their teaching effects by conducting science classes on the motion and function of a simple pendulum with respect to 30 fifth-grade students. As a result of conducting the classes, it was found that the following conditions need to be met to effectively acquire the concept of a simple pendulum. 1. Teaching Strategy (1) Length of string : Make the students get on a Tarzan rope for the purpose of recognizing isochronism through physical experience. (2) Pendulum weight : Make the students gather and analyze data acquired on simple pendulum phenomena in the real world to detect isochronism, in a clearly and highly-motivated manner. (3) Amplitude : Make the students iterate the process of mapping data of the numerical world to simple pendulum situation phenomena in the real world. 2. Learning Tool In consideration of the actual situation of the primary school students, give the students the opportunity to visualize simple pendulum phenomena which are difficult to visually capture at a speed that allows for simulation, while allowing each student to manipulate the time base individually in accordance with his/her interest and actual situation.

本研究は,長期母乳育児経験をもつ女性の更年期症状の関連因子を因果モデルによって構造的に明確にすることを目的とした。産後12ヵ月までの母乳栄養育児を継続したことのある,現在40〜60歳の女性103名を対象に,著者が2005年に調査したデータを用いて,共分散構造分析を行った。更年期症状は,『更年期の心理的満足度』と密接に関連し,さらに成熟期における『出産・育児体験歴』が『更年期の心理的満足度』に強い影響を与えていることが認められた。つまり出産回数,母乳育児期間,産後の無月経期間などの頻度が多くなるほど『更年期の心理的満足度』が高まり,『更年期の心理的満足度』は,生きがい感や夫婦関係満足感,仕事やりがいなどの心理面に影響され,さらに『更年期の心理的満足度』を高めることとなる。この『更年期の心理的満足度』が高い人ほど更年期症状が軽度であることが本モデルにより示された。以上のことから,出産や母乳育児,産後の無月経などの成熟期における経験が,女性自身の更年期の心理社会的背景に影響を及ぼし,更年期症状に結びついていることが示唆された。

初期国産機「Solar」に関し, 文献史料を中心に調査研究を行った結果, 以下について明らかとした。1)「Solar」は, 1932(昭和7)年に成立した国産初の縦型撹拌式洗濯機である。製造元は芝浦製作所であり, 東京電気により全国販売が行われた。2)「Solar」は, アメリカからの技術導入により成立した。原型機は, 1928(昭和3)年頃, 東京電気により輸入・販売されたThor Appliance Company製の撹拌式「Thor」である。3)「Solar」は戦前だけで, A型, B型, C型, D型, E型のラインナップを持つ。国内で開発された新規の技術を取り入れながら, 改良が重ねられていた。4)1937(昭和12)年頃には, 「Solar」に対する認知は一部で広がっており, この時期に, 現在にも続く洗濯機=(イコール)縦型のイメージが創出されたといえる。
