The Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE), which is a computer-simulated 3D virtual reality (VR) system, is expected to provide sport learners with interactive and immersive learning materials. The purpose of this study was to reveal perceptual characteristics of tennis players when they viewed the tennis ball flight reconstructed in CAVE. The visual stimuli of this study were reconstructed based on the actual measured values of the tennis court and the ball flight. Perceptual performances, subjective impression scoring and shot type discrimination (flat, topspin and slice), were assessed by varying the conditions of three visual VR settings: binocular disparity, screen number, and viewpoint. The augmented-disparity setting was likely to induce a higher sense of discomfort than the no-disparity and normal-disparity settings. The four-screen condition was more likely to induce a correct response than the one-screen condition. The viewpoint of the umpire induced a significantly higher sense of discomfort than the field player viewpoints, and the viewpoint close to the approaching ball made it more difficult to discriminate the shot type. This research was a pilot study on sport perception in VR, and the results will contribute to the construction of sport-simulating VR systems.

SGLT2阻害薬は、腎での糖の再吸収を抑え、尿中への糖排泄を増加させることで血糖降下作用を示す。腎近位曲尿細管のNa+/グルコーストランスポーターSGLT2を選択的に阻害する経口薬であり、天然のO-グリコシドであるフロリジンをC-グリコシド化することで代謝安定化させ、さらにSGLT2への高度の親和性と選択性を付与した化合物として創製された。SGLT2阻害薬は、腎糸球体で濾過されて原尿中に移行し、管腔膜のSGLT2に管腔側から結合することによって作用する。血糖値を下げることで糖毒性を軽減し、糖尿病の病態を改善するとともに、心血管死を低下させ、腎保護作用を示す大規模臨床試験の結果が報告され、今後の糖尿病治療への貢献が期待される。

The discovery of a new locality of the mycoheterotrophic Gastrodia spathulata (Orchidaceae) in West Java, Indonesia, during herbarium studies in BO is reported. This species was previously considered an endemic species in Mt. Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo.

近年では,2004年および2011年の新潟・福島豪雨災害,2009年の佐用町豪雨災害,2011年の台風12号による紀伊半島豪雨災害などによる甚大な被害が発生している.これら洪水では,家屋・人的被害に加えて,各種事業所や病院,公共施設,ライフライン等が浸水のために大きな経済被害を被っている.そこで本研究では,沿川に立地しているために洪水被害を受けやすく他事業の復旧期間に大きく影響する『水道事業』に着目し,被災事例を調査した.浸水被害が水道事業者にもたらす影響と課題について考察するとともに,BCPの必要性と水道事業者が想定すべき事前対策等について提案する.

社会文化地理学: 本報告では、日本の男性と男性性の変容を、地理的想像力とナショナリズムの問題に関連させて論じる。近年の日本の急速な社会経済変化は、日本の若い世代、とりわけ若い男性に大き打撃を与え、稼ぎ手としての男性という戦後家族モデルにもはや依拠できない若い男たちのジェンダー・アイデンティティに影響を及ぼしている。本報告では、新たな男性性のタイプとして「草食系男子」「オタク」「ネオ(プチ)ナショナリスト」を取り上げ、それが今後の日本の社会的・経済的・政治的変化といかに関連するかについて試論を提示したい。

Lateral heads, which generate after the harvest of an apical head of broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica), are generally small and have a low market value. Our purpose in this study was to increase the yield of broccoli from April to May, when domestic broccoli production is low, by removing excess branches (dubbed the “L-shaping” process) and growing one or two large and marketable lateral heads with the cultivar ‘Yumehibiki’. First, we demonstrated that transplanting seedlings in late-January and early-February to a field covered by plastic mulch and tunnels enabled apical heads and marketable lateral heads to be harvested in April and May, respectively. The number of marketable lateral heads reached a maximum 81% of that of apical heads. Next, we derived the base temperature (BT; °C), effective heat unit summation (EHUS; °C·day) from transplanting to apical head harvest, and additional EHUS from apical head harvest to lateral head harvest. They were 1.76°C, 747°C·day, and 254°C·day in 2016, and 1.74°C, 675°C·day and 204°C·day in 2017, respectively. The favorable timing for transplanting to result in the highest marketable yield was estimated as when the average temperature reached 4.0°C, but was less than 7.1°C. Finally, we characterized the lateral branches that were most likely to produce marketable lateral heads. The branches that produced marketable heads showed significantly higher values for thickness of branch, length of branch, and number of leaves on branch than those that produced nonmarketable heads, although the diameters of the developing heads on the branches were not significantly higher. Further analysis revealed that the leaf area was also significantly higher in marketable lateral heads than in nonmarketable heads. Taken together, the possibility of a substantial increase in yield during the broccoli off-crop season by using L-shaped ‘Yumehibiki’ was demonstrated in this study.

富山県は、南に日本アルプスをひかえ、東や西も山に囲まれ、これらの山々から流出する土砂の堆積により、富山平野や砺波平野の扇状地が出来た。しかし多量の雨と雪は、洪水となって平野を奔流し、氾濫による災害が多く、富山県の歴史は河川との闘いの歴史でもあった。なかでも大雨ごとに災害を受ける庄川は、早くから治水ぶ始まった。庄川の河道の変遷、災害、松川除を中心とした藩政期の治水への取り組みと、明治維新から昭和初めまでの治水について述べる。

The major mines around the world are taking the steps for enlargement of the dump truck size to improve the efficiency, and the yearly demand for the 300ton class dump trucks is increasing year by year.About 25% of the total world demand for such 300 ton class dump trucks is predicted to be the demand for the oilsand mines where the demand for the hydraulic shovels looks promising as well.The super large size excavator EX8000 was developed to meet such demand for the matching shovels for the 300 ton class dump trucks.The development was carried out based upon the experience from the existing super large size excavators, and emphasized on achieving the unsurpassed reliability and availability that is the absolute necessity for the loading machines in the mines.Both the first machines, the second machines of EX8000, and the third machines are delivered to the oil Sand mine in Alberta state in Canada. These machines are engaged in digging up the topsoil layer and the oil sand.

近年の日本では,いじめが原因と考えられる児童生徒の自殺が社会的に大きな波紋を起こしている。いじめは,被害側だけでなく加害側の児童生徒でも,不安・抑うつ,社会不適応,そして自殺問題と関連すると言われている。このような状況に鑑みて,効果的ないじめ対策教育の実施は喫緊の課題である。しかし,日本ではいじめ対策が各学校に任されたままであり,全国的な系統的いじめ対策プログラムが存在しない。また,効果検証がなされていない。そこで本研究では,日本におけるいじめ予防介入教育の構築に向けた一資料として,フィンランドの全国的ないじめ対策プログラムであり,その効果が大規模なRandomized Controlled Trial (RCT)により評価されている「KiVaプログラム」について紹介した。KiVaプログラムの効果として,いじめの減少,さらには児童生徒の不安・抑うつの低下,対人関係の改善などが確認されている。

Background:It is unclear whether renal dysfunction affects warfarin control in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF).Methods and Results:Using a dataset from the J-RHYTHM Registry, time in therapeutic range (TTR) of the international normalized ratio (INR) of prothrombin time, and creatinine clearance (CrCl) were determined in elderly patients aged ≥70 years. Target INR values were 1.6–2.6 following Japanese guidelines. Incidences of thromboembolism, major hemorrhage, and all-cause death were determined over 2 years. Of 7,406 NVAF patients enrolled in the registry, 2,782 elderly patients (mean age, 75 years) had data for CrCl measured at baseline and TTR. TTR values were lower in the lower CrCl groups (P<0.001 for trend). CrCl <30 mL/min was independently associated with TTR <65% (odds ratio, 1.49; 95% confidence interval, 1.13–1.95; P=0.004). In the multivariate analysis, TTR <65% was independently associated with thromboembolism (hazard ratio, 2.26; 95% confidence interval, 1.37–3.72; P=0.001), but CrCl was not (CrCl <30 mL/min, 1.68, 0.41–6.85, P=0.473). However, CrCl <30 mL/min and TTR <65% were independently associated with all-cause death (5.32, 1.56–18.18, P=0.008 and 1.60, 1.07–2.38, P=0.022, respectively) and the composite event (thromboembolism, major hemorrhage and all-cause death) (2.03, 1.10–3.76, P=0.024 and 1.58, 1.22–2.04, P=0.001, respectively).Conclusions:Elderly NVAF patients with renal dysfunction had poor warfarin control, which was associated with higher risk of thromboembolism and all-cause death.

鹿児島県種子島に分布する熊毛層群西之表層の地質,地質年代,そして堆積環境を検討した.砂岩が卓越する西之表層において,生痕化石が多産する泥岩部を大久保泥岩部層として区別した.放散虫化石からは西之表層上部が31.1Maから28.5Maの地層であることが,石灰質ナンノ化石からは西之表層下部が30.00Maから26.84Maに堆積したことが判明した.以上の事実から,西之表層の地質年代が,前期漸新世の後期(30.0-28.5Ma)であることが判明した.岩相分布と地質年代の結果から,(1)西之表層は同層準が褶曲と衝上断層によって繰り返すこと,(2)西之表層の層厚は従来の推定よりも薄いこと,(3)西之表層は九州南部に分布する日南層群に対比されること,そして(4)産出する生痕化石から西之表層は水深が2000mよりも深い海底で堆積したこと,が明らかとなった.今後,西之表層の起源を詳しく解明するためには,堆積学的・構造地質学的観点からの検討が不可欠である.

気管支喘息患者は気道過敏性を有するために,健常人が問題とならないような,微細な環境変化に反応して発作性の気道収縮(喘息発作;急性増悪)を生じる事がある.重篤な喘息発作は喘息死をもたらす事があるが,喘息死に至る1年前の喘息重症度は重症患者が大半と言う訳ではなく,中等症・軽症を合わせると重症患者を上回る数の喘息死が生じている.そのため,どの重症度の喘息患者にも喘息死が生じる可能性があり,喘息死を減らすためには長期管理薬による慢性期のコントロールが重要であるとともに,急性増悪時の確実な対応も必須である.本稿では急性増悪時の自宅での対応と救急外来での基本的対応に関して述べる.

近年本邦の尋常性痤瘡治療薬,特に外用薬の選択肢が充実し,欧米の治療水準に到達した.それらを選択使用するための治療ガイドラインも策定されている.しかしながら,実地臨床の場では,個々の患者の多彩な症状に応じて薬剤選択を行うが,ガイドラインでの推奨度に応じて自動的に決定できるものではなく,様々な患者背景を考慮して試行錯誤を繰り返すこともある.そこで,日常診療上でしばしば遭遇する尋常性痤瘡の症例を写真で提示し,その患者の年齢,生活様式,経済状況なども考慮したうえで,いかなる治療薬を選択すべきかについて5名の痤瘡治療に精通した皮膚科医により案を作成し,それを27名の痤瘡治療に積極的に取り組む皮膚科医で討議し,コンセンサスを作り上げた.中高生,青年期,社会人の各年代層の顔面の尋常性痤瘡を6ケース,体幹部の尋常性痤瘡を2ケース,特殊な例として下顎部の痤瘡1ケース,アトピー性皮膚炎の合併2ケース,炎症後紅斑,炎症後色素沈着を各1ケース,全体として13ケースについて検討した結果をここに報告し,診療の参考としていただきたいと考える.

物が二重に見えるという訴えを持つ患者は臨床的によく遭遇する。麻痺性斜視や甲状腺眼症、急性内斜視、skew deviation、輻湊不全など原因はさまざまで検査、診断、治療方法に苦慮することも多い。症状の変化など経過を見ながら、患者の不自由さに早急に対応する必要があり、近年、対症療法としてプリズム療法の報告が多く見られる。今回、筆者が経験したプリズム処方の自験例を紹介しながら、疾患ごとの検査のポイントについて検討した。 プリズム療法が適応となる頻度は疾患によりかなり差がある。最も良い適応疾患は、むき眼位による偏位量の変化が少ないskew deviationであるが、それでも実際に処方率は46.2%に留まり、次いで外転神経麻痺33.3%、滑車神経麻痺32.7%の順であった。 また、プリズム処方例の中で装用を症状が改善して中止できた割合は、外転神経麻痺や滑車神経麻痺例において3ヵ月で約3~4割、6ヵ月で約5割程度であった。 甲状腺眼症のようにプリズム療法の適応になりにくい疾患でも、 Quality Of Vision (QOV)を向上させるために処方する場合もある。またプリズム療法で複視が解消できる疾患は限られているため、遮蔽法を選択せざるを得ない場合もある。その場合は、遮蔽膜での全面遮蔽や部分遮蔽、OCLUA®(オクルア®)のような遮蔽用のレンズも開発されており、これらを使用することで少しでも苦痛をやわらげる配慮が必要である。

This study investigated the effects of self-anger on rumination and mental health (depression and anxiety). In study 1, a scale to measure self-anger was developed by the review of previous studies and survey interviews. Exploratory factor analysis identified one factor of self-anger. The reliability and validity of the scale were confirmed by internal consistency measures and correlations with other anger-related scales. In study 2, which used the self-anger scale developed in study 1, undergraduate and graduate students completed a set of scales to measure self-anger, rumination, depression, anxiety, and five-factor personality traits. The results of mediation analysis indicated that self-anger effects depression and anxiety directly or through mediating rumination excluding the effect of sex and neuroticism. Finally, the possibility that self-anger management leads to the reduction of rumination and improvement of mental health was discussed.

This paper presents a blocked united algorithm for the all-pairs shortest paths (APSP) problem. This algorithm simultaneously computes both the shortest-path distance matrix and the shortest-path construction matrix for a graph. It is designed for a high-speed APSP solution on hybrid CPU-GPU systems. In our implementation, two most compute intensive parts of the algorithm are performed on the GPU. The first part is to solve the APSP sub-problem for a block of sub-matrices, and the other part is a matrix-matrix “multiplication” for the APSP problem. Moreover, the amount of data communication between CPU (host) memory and GPU memory is reduced by reusing blocks once sent to the GPU. When a problem size (the number of vertices in a graph) is large enough compared to a block size, our implementation of the blocked algorithm requires CPU $\rightleftharpoons$ GPU exchanging of three blocks during a block computation on the GPU. We measured the performance of the algorithm implementation on two different CPU-GPU systems. A system containing an Intel Sandy Bridge CPU (Core i7 2600K) and an AMD Cayman GPU (Radeon HD 6970) achieves the performance up to 1.1 TFlop/s in a single precision.

In dry mouth clinic, there are many patients who complained of subjective feelings of dry mouth despite their normal salivation. This dry mouth frequently comorbid with glossodynia or oral dysaesthesia. So far, these complaints have been thought to be ‘psychogenic’. Namely, psychosocial factors and/or individual factors have long been considered as main cause. Even if oral surgeons referred patients to psychiatry clinic, a majority of them wished to avoid consultation, or, would sometimes complain that the dry mouth got worse after medication. Therefore, it is very important and difficult problems for clinical oral surgeons to see how look at these patients and to learn how cope with them.From my own years of experience in psychosomatic studies, I think ‘distorted cognition ’ is central to these pathogenesis. These distorted cognition cause dissociations between subjective and objective findings. Moreover, I have propose a hypothesis that neurochemical dysfunction of some sort of neurotransmitter systems and distortions of information-processing in cerebral association area related to thought and memory underlie the distorted cognition.Patients with subjective dry mouth never tell a lie about their symptoms, but they have just ‘ neural network error’ in their brain. We should take up to problems of oral discomfort at the root of their complaint.If we suspect their complaints as the cause of psychogenic, it might be often unsuccessful in treatment. First of all, to listen carefully to complaints from them is very important, and then we have to do differential diagnosis. If patients are diagnosed the symptom form with distorted cognition, medication using SSRI or SNRI is necessary for reconstruction of impaired neuronal network. Of course oral surgeons have to receive advanced education and training to use psychotropic drugs. At the same time, it is needed for sensitive response to patients and family members.The distorted cognition with these patients are associated with dysfunction of neurotransmitter systems and information-processing in peripheral to higher central nervous system. Strange complaints and persistent therapeutic demand are representatives of the distorted cognition. If we regard queer complaints as neural network errors, we can see the psychogenic complaints as distorted cognition.At present, this hypothesis cannot be shown objectively, but it might be possible that some new approaches such as brain imaging make mechanisms of the distorted cognition more clear. It is very important to collect evidence-based diagnosis, therapies and pathophysiological mechanism for dry mouth as an oral psychosomatic disorder.

Paul Valéry's literary work ‘Eupalinos’ includes various topics and considerations about making architecture. This paper aims to understand it as a theory of ‘poiesis’. For this purpose, the text is divided into units of meaning and they are rearranged according to the process of making architecture which consists of three terms - before, during, after. This trial, however, reveals that the linear arrangement dose not success enough. For that reason, three domains - real, intellectual, virtual - are introduced to define a three-dimension framework in which it is made clear how ‘spirit’ works for ‘contemplation’ and ‘making’ with ‘body’ and ‘world’.
