本研究では,美術教育において広がりを持っている対話型鑑賞ワークショップについて,これを鑑賞者の知識構築の過程として捉え,ナビゲイター(ファシリテーター)による情報提供がどのように知識構築に寄与するのかについて検討した.鑑賞会への参与観察およびファシリテーションを担当した14名の学生ナビゲイターへのインタビューから,鑑賞における情報提供は「考えるための情報」と「確認のための情報」に分類された.プロトコル分析から,「考えるための情報」は,作品の表現内容と組み合わせて知識構築を促すために提供され,「確認のための情報」は議論の押さえとして,それぞれ提供タイミングが図られていることが明らかになった.

In the plain of Takada can be traced an old watercourse of the Hokura about five kilometers in length. What characterize this old watercourse are free meandering and natural banks, running on both sides of it and higher than the level by one meter or two with fields and hamlets on them. A long succession of fine paddy-fields stretehes on this old course of the river, which were brought under cultivation in middle ages. (Especially, it is the case with the lower course of the river.)In the article two of those examples, Matsuhashi and Funatsu in the village of Honda are dealt.[The author made a lecture on other such examples, Honda-Enokii and Katatsu, at the autumnal meeting of Association of Japanese Geographers last year, and explained why the region should be supposed to have been cultivated in Middle Ages, also explaining its characteristics. The details are to be mentioned in next number.]

【目的】BAD の運動機能予後の予測について検討した。【方法】BAD101 例を退院時良好群と不良群に分類し年齢,性別,麻痺側,入院時National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(以下,NIHSS),病変部位,梗塞面積,リハ開始日,Fugl-Meyer Assessment(以下,FMA),Mini-mental State Examination(以下,MMSE),在院日数,OT・PT 単位を調査し,単変量解析(χ2 検定,対応のないt検定)と退院時FMA を目的変数としたロジスティック回帰分析を行い有意差のあった因子からカットオフ値を算出した。【結果】良好群は不良群と比較し年齢,NIHSS,梗塞面積,在院日数は低くFMA とMMSE は高かった(p<0.05)。また,リハ開始時FMA のカットオフ値は上肢18 点,下肢19 点であった。【結論】BAD の運動機能予後の予測にはリハ開始時FMA が関連していた。

国立国会図書館は国立国会図書館法に基づいて設置され,国会議員に対するサービス(国会サービス)を第一義的任務としている。本稿では,国会サービスの中心を担う,調査及び立法考査局の役割と組織について概観し,次いでその業務の中心である「依頼調査」と「予測調査」について,業務の実態を交えながら述べる。また,調査業務をより実効的なものとするために行うさまざまな取り組みや,内部での研修,外部との連携協力などについても紹介する。

We have developed an automatic system called the Accurate and QUick Analysis System for source parameters (AQUA System) that provides rapid estimates of hypocenter location, magnitude, and moment tensor for medium to large-scale earthquakes that occur near or underneath Japan. The AQUA System monitors high-sensitive real-time seismic waveform output from the Hi-net operated by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED). Upon detecting an earthquake, the AQUA System provides an estimate of the event’s hypocenter and magnitude within 15-30 seconds. Within a further 2-10 minutes, the system provides centroid moment tensor (CMT) solution by inversion technique using broadband seismic waveform of NIED F-net. To assess the accuracy of the new system, we compared hypocenter and magnitude data derived from the AQUA System over the period from September 2004 to August 2005 with catalog data from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). We also compared CMT solutions derived from the AQUA System with corresponding values from the NIED F-net and catalog data of Harvard University’s CMT Project. A total of 339 seismic events were detected during the period of analysis. The AQUA System determined hypocenters for 324 of these events and CMT solutions for 224 events. The estimated hypocenters are within 10km horizontally and 20km vertically of the hypocenters calculated by the JMA in 80% of cases, and the CMT solutions were approximately the same as those obtained from other systems. The results of analyses by the AQUA System are published on the website of NIED Hi-net.

Rearing of animals from one generation to the next is important in many biological studies. In this study, we aimed to develop efficient methods for rearing multiple generations of orb-web spiders (Cyclosa argenteoalba), testing three methods. First, we examined isolated rearing with aphid supplied by hand. Second, we tested mass rearing. We also collected various insect species from the field using light trap and supplied them by hand. Both methods failed, perhaps because of the inappropriate aphid (Uroleucon formosanum) and insufficient quantity of prey supplied in the first and second tests, respectively. For the third method, we mass reared with abundant prey directly supplied from light traps into the terrariums located outside. This method successfully raised hatchlings to adults, and the eggs produced from these adults also matured. The development time of wintering and non-wintering cohorts was 150.2‐195.0 days and 24.0‐76.3 days, respectively.

日本では、毎年約15,000人が子宮頸癌(上皮内癌含む)と診断され、約3,500が死亡している。そのうち、44歳までに約400人が死亡している。20代30代の女性に限ればもっとも罹患率が多い癌は子宮頸癌であり、増加傾向が続いている。 日本の現状の問題点は(1)検診受診率が低い(2)従来法細胞診での診断が続いている(3)HPV予防ワクチンの接種の遅れである。日本産婦人科医会は子宮頸がんの撲滅をめざして、(1)ベセスダシステム(TBS)の導入(2)液状化検体細胞診(LBC)の導入(3)HPV併用検診の導入(4)HPV予防ワクチンの積極的な勧奨の再開(WHOやFIGOは再度安全宣言を出している)(5)受診率の向上を目指している。今回はTBS、LBC、HPV併用検診とワクチンに関するトピックスについて解説する。

The restoration works of Timurid architecture in Samarkand has a long history starting from the period of the Russian colonization. This works dramatically changed the shape of monuments. Soon after Uzbekistan raised as a Presidential Republic, Timurid monument were recognized as a symbol of the country and restoration works were revitalized. In this paper, I focused on the changes of the architecture's shapes by the restoration works, and the various aims of restoration works during Russian colonial period, Soviet period, and after independence. According to detailed research for the restoration process of four main Timurid architectures in Samarkand, the monuments gained the position as historic monuments in the Russian period, and played a propaganda role in the Soviet period. In order to enhance the high quality of historic monuments in the soviet area, researchers made a great effort to study the monuments and realized many extensive restoration works. After the independence, many large-scale restoration works have been undergoing without academic studies and professionals.

Human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated disease is common among men with HPV infection. A quadrivalent HPV (qHPV) vaccine has demonstrated 85.9% efficacy against HPV6/11/16/18-related, persistent (≥ 6 month) infection in a study of Japanese men aged 16–26 years old. Here, we report the results of an open-label study of the immunogenicity and tolerability of the qHPV vaccine (NCT02576054), conducted to bridge findings from Japanese men to Japanese boys aged 9–15 years old. A total of 100 boys completed a three-vaccination regimen (Day 1, and Months 2 and 6), and 99 boys were included in the primary analysis population. The rate of seroconversion at one month after vaccine Dose 3 (Month 7) was high for each type of HPV (anti-HPV6/11/16/18 seroconversion rates [95% CI]: 94.9% [85.5%, 98.3%], 99.0% [94.4%, 100.0%], 99.0% [94.5%, 100.0%], and 99.0% [94.4%, 100.0%], respectively). Moreover, anti-HPV6/11/16/18 geometric mean titers were 482.9 mMU/mL, 1052.8 mMU/mL, 3878.3 mMU/mL, and 1114.5 mMU/mL, respectively. Immune responses to the qHPV vaccine were non-inferior among Japanese boys included in the current study and compared with young Japanese men from a separate study. Injection-site reactions were the most common adverse events, and administration of the vaccine was well tolerated in Japanese boys.

It is more than 25 years since Nobuyuki Imai passed away of liver cancer, and now is the time, I suppose, to talk about him, because 25 years is not so short, and suitable to take an objective view of him and his works. Soon after the war end, he came to Nara to hunt curios. He was a connoisseur of antique objects, and looked very happy in the ancient capital of Japan. I have not met him ever since. About five years later I was much shocked to hear of his decease, which might inevitably bring about the discontinuation of “Current of the World.” Talking of “Current of the World”, it made its first appearance in 1924, next year of the Kanto earthquake. It may be said that the kind of English magazine was being looked for by a lot of Japanese intellingentzia though there were two other big English magazines, “The Rising Generation” and “The Study of English.” He was a teacher and then became a journalist in English, whose experince was wonderfully put to practical use, the former to the foundation of “Weekly” and “Correspondence Course”, and the latter to “Current of the World.” He set up the Eigo-tsushinsha at Sendagi-cho, Hongo, which was transferred to Nishikata-cho, Hongo in 1919. He distinguished himself in his work. He made a hit with his “Weekly” which was read as a side-reader at almost all middle schools throughout Japan, and also “Current of the World” had a remarkable circulation. It seemed he swept away everything in his way. “Current of the World” had two major objects; one was giving reading materials in current English to intellectuals, and the other was Japanese English translation which was always in Imai's charge. And this was very famous with his unique remark. I hope the latter will be published as a book which, I believe, will be utterly helpful to university students and intelligent public persons. Imai had a rosy future with other plans, but World War II and his illness made them a very remote possibility. No, his death brought a close to everything.

Market price of existing houses in Japan depreciates more dramatically than in other advanced economies including the US. It is usually recognized that the price of the structure of wooden residential properties in Japan become zero after 20 years of construction. In this paper, actual transaction data from MLIT is analyzed with several assumptions because of availability of data. The attempt to decompose the price of the structure and land revealed that the structure component depreciates very rapidly and the price of the structure becomes not only zero but also negative after 28 years on average.

The purpose of this study is to examine a cross-validity and a reliability of a measurement of "SEKENTEI" for factor analysis of social welfare services. "SEKENTEI" is the level of a person's self-consciousness of others observing one's behavior and endeavoring to meet the perceived norms of behavior. Data used in this study were obtained from 3 types of the populations, the first one was elderly people who participate in educational services, the second one was person attending a class of home-helper, the third one was primary family caregiver. The "SEKENTEI" Index was examined on an immutability of the factor structure and a test-retest reliability. A factor analysis, coefficient Al fa and correlation coefficient was used in this analysis. The results were as follows : 1) On this study, there were 3 cases of the factor structure in the "SEKENTEI" Index. That was 3 factor structure, 4 factor structure and 5 factor structure (eigin value>1.0). 2) The "SEKENTEI" Index of This study was similar to previous studies on the character concerning factor loading of the 12 items. 3) The coefficient Al fa of the "SEKENTEI" Index were approving level (.71〜.77) on this study. 4) On test-retest reliability, the reliability coefficient of the "SEKENTEI" Index were not high level one. By these result, it was suggested that the "SEKENTEI" Index did not have a high level cross-validity and a high level a reliability. Based on these results, it appears that the "SEKENTEI" Index will be a sound measurement of "SEKENTEI", if it is partly revised.

養育行動の記録は,親から子への投資や子の発達過程を知るための基礎情報であり,域外保全のためにも重要な情報である.アマミノクロウサギ(Pentalagus furnessi)は鹿児島県奄美大島と徳之島にのみ生息する遺存固有種である.母獣は休息用の巣穴とは別の場所に繁殖用の巣穴を持ち,その中で幼獣を育てる.2015年秋に奄美大島の農地内に掘られた繁殖穴を発見し,2015年9月から2017年5月まで自動撮影カメラにより撮影を行ったところ,2016年4月から5月までと,2016年12月から2017年2月までの2回の繁殖が確認された.アマミノクロウサギの養育行動は,繁殖穴形成,産座づくり,出産,授乳からなっていた.繁殖穴形成から授乳の間,母獣の訪問時刻は午前2時から3時に集中していた.産仔数は1頭または2頭で,授乳は2日に1回の頻度で規則正しく行われた.幼獣は生後約10日齢まで繁殖穴の中で授乳され,約10日齢から繁殖穴の外に出て授乳されるようになり,30–34日齢で授乳後に巣穴の外を出歩くようになった.母獣の授乳のための訪問のうち,授乳時間は非常に短く,滞在時間の大半を繁殖穴の入口の開け閉めに費やしていた.この巣穴の開け閉めに要する時間は,幼獣の成長とともに短くなった.今回の観察により,アマミノクロウサギの養育行動は,他のアナウサギ類と同様に非常に短時間で行われており,さらに幼獣の成長に合わせて養育にかかるコストを減らしている可能性が示唆された.

創薬の分野においてもAIの活用は注目を集めている。化合物デザイン、QSAR、QSPRによる活性物性予測、合成経路提案など、様々なパートへAI(主に深層学習)を適用する報告も多くなされてきている。その一方で、実例報告はまだ多くはない。そこで今回は、実際の創薬研究プロジェクトでのAIの活用事例、並びに今後の展望について紹介させていただきたい。
