本研究は,コオロギ等昆虫の発音を刺激とする場合の日本人とアングロサクソン系欧米人の音の評価とその意味について比較検討したものである.分析の結果,比較的馴染みのない刺激音であるアングロサクソン系欧米人においては,昆虫の種によって“騒音”を想起させる聴覚反応または“自然風景”を想起させる視聴覚反応として処理され評価は低い.一方,馴染み深い刺激である日本人においては,昆虫の種にかかわらず“原風景”を想起させる視聴覚反応として処理され,総じて評価が高いことが明らかとなった.本研究によって,特定の地域や場所の基調音がどのように形成されていくかを解明する新たな手掛かりを得た.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) emerged in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Despite the recent introduction of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, more effective vaccines and antiviral drugs must be developed. Here, we isolated five SARS-CoV-2 strains from four patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and an asymptomatic individual using pharyngeal swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs, and sputum samples. Cytopathic effects in inoculated Vero cells were observed between days 3 and 7. SARS-CoV-2 infection was confirmed by quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and next-generation sequencing. Phylogenetic analyses of the whole genome sequences showed that the virus isolates from the clinical samples belonged to the Wuhan and European lineages. These findings and the isolated viruses may contribute to the development of diagnostic tools, vaccines, and antiviral drugs for COVID-19.

中国共産党の中国に対する統治メカニズムは,まず憲法・法律に基づいて国を統治し,同時に共産党の党内法規に基づいて共産党員を管理する.次に,全国人民代表大会を経由して間接統治を実行する.第三に,政治協商会議を生かし,共産党支配の広範な代表性と正当性を強化する.第四に,地方に対する統治は共産党の系列党委員会と各地方の国家機関を通じて実施する.現実には,共産党は戦略の設計と重大な方針・政策の制定に力を入れているが,国家統治の具体的な事務は各種の国家機構に責任を持って実施させており,共産党は実事求是の思想・理論を堅持し,「大衆路線」,漸進主義と実験主義,学習型政党の整備などの方法を運用して統治を実施している.一方,中国では「立憲党主論」や「党主導立憲制」などの理論を提唱し,共産党の統治体制をさらに規範化し,現代の憲政システムの中に組み入れようとする学者もいる.

Temporary use of vacant urban spaces has received increased attention during the last 20 years, especially in German-speaking countries, as a viable strategy in urban planning to revitalize unused vacant lots and buildings, which result from ongoing structural changes in industrialized countries. Particularly in the eastern inner-city districts of Berlin, a high number of vacant lots and buildings existed after the fall of the Berlin Wall. For many of these spaces, temporary uses, such as art houses, galleries, music clubs, bars, urban gardens, and alternative living spaces, were established during the 1990s and 2000s. From the end of the 1990s, in a particular area along the River Spree in Berlin’s former eastern inner-city district Friedrichshain, a high concentration of temporary uses have been observed. The reasons for this concentration have not been studied in detail. Therefore, this study clarifies the reasons for this geographic concentration by examining three case studies of temporary uses, using surveys and interviews conducted in 2013 and 2014. Additionally, this study exemplifies the characteristics of temporary uses in the surveyed area and shows what can be learned from the conflicts regarding temporary uses. The study concludes that temporary uses can be more than an interim utilization of vacant spaces and are a viable long-term alternative for sustainable urban planning in post-growth cities.

A difference of alignment of rear foot between lying down and standing in patients who have sports disorders is often observed. The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between the alignment of the rear foot and activities of ankle flexor muscles during the calf-raise. We identified an alteration of the alignment of the rear foot between the prone position to standing by measuring leg heel angle under each condition, and classified subjects into three groups (varus, neutral, valgus) according to angle alteration. In addition, we measured activities of the tibialis posterior muscle, soleus muscle, medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle and lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle during the calf-raise with surface electromyography. The varus group showed significantly greater activation of the tibialis posterior muscle than the valgus group. Activation of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle displayed similar findings with an increase from the valgus group to the neutral and varus groups. These results suggest that if alignment of the rear foot in standing is more varus than in lying prone, sports disorders are potentially more likely in therapeutic calf-raise exercises and in running during training.

ニホンマムシ(Gloydius blomhoffii)による咬症受傷翌日に複視症状をきたした症例に乾燥まむしウマ抗毒素(乾燥まむし抗毒素「KMB」®,以下,抗毒素)を投与した1例を経験した。症例は87歳女性,マムシに左第3指を咬まれて受傷した。複視症状が出現したため受傷から約26時間後に医療機関を受診し,約30時間後に抗毒素を投与された。複視症状は軽快し,入院4日目に退院した。マムシ毒に含まれている酵素により出血や壊死をきたすとともに少量ながら含まれる神経毒が外眼筋の運動障害などの眼症状を呈することがある。本症例は眼症状から重症と考え,治療に抗毒素を投与したが,その理由は抗毒素の投与が重症例,かつ蛇毒咬症受傷後早期に投与が望まれるためである。しかしながら受傷に際して毒蛇の認識は困難な場合も多く,受傷後の症状経過から毒蛇咬症が判明することがある。抗毒素投与は投与前に十分な対応を行いつつ血清病発症に注意することで安全な治療が可能となる。

近年,ネットワークメタアナリシスを用いた研究論文の発表数が急速に増加している。従来のメタアナリシスは2者の比較に限定されていたのに対して,ネットワークメタアナリシスは3者以上の比較を行うことができる。しかし,この解析によって,新たに大きなエビデンスを生み出されるというわけではない。また,その解析の実施,結果の解釈は容易ではなく,ネットワークメタアナリシスにおいては,通常のメタアナリシスで求められる前提に加えて,さらにいくつかの条件が加わってくる。しかし,新規治療薬同士の直接比較試験が行われる可能性が低いような状況などでは,ネットワークメタアナリシスは,強固なエビデンスではないものの,治療選択上の参考になるデータを提供してくれる有用なツールであるといえる。

Membrane receptors provide interfaces of various extracellular stimuli to transduce the signal into the cell. Receptors are required to possess such conflicting properties as high sensitivity and noise reduction for the cell to keep its homeostasis and appropriate responses. To understand the mechanisms by which these functions are achieved, single-molecule monitoring of the motilities of receptors and signaling molecules on the plasma membrane is one of the most direct approaches. This review article introduces several recent single-molecule imaging studies of receptors, including the author’s recent work on triple-color single-molecule imaging of G protein-coupled receptors. Based on these researches, advantages and perspectives of the single-molecule imaging approach to solving the mechanisms of receptor functions are illustrated.

Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) are largely classified into two types, plasma-membrane derived sEVs and endomembrane-derived sEVs. The latter type (referred to as exosomes herein) is originated from late endosomes or multivesicular bodies (MVBs). In order to release exosomes extracellularly, MVBs must fuse with the plasma membrane, not with lysosomes. In contrast to the mechanism responsible for MVB–lysosome fusion, the mechanism underlying the MVB–plasma membrane fusion is poorly understood. Here, we systematically analyze soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) family proteins and identify VAMP5 as an MVB-localized SNARE protein required for exosome release. Depletion of VAMP5 in HeLa cells impairs exosome release. Mechanistically, VAMP5 mediates exosome release by interacting with SNAP47 and plasma membrane SNARE Syntaxin 1 (STX1) or STX4 to release exosomes. VAMP5 is also found to mediate asymmetric exosome release from polarized Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) epithelial cells through interaction with the distinct sets of Q-SNAREs, suggesting that VAMP5 is a general exosome regulator in both polarized cells and non-polarized cells.Key words: Exosome, small extracellular vesicle (sEV), multivesicular body, SNARE, VAMP5

節外性NK/T細胞リンパ腫,鼻型(鼻性NK/T細胞リンパ腫)は,主に鼻腔に初発し,顔面正中部に沿って進行するNKあるいはT細胞由来の予後不良なリンパ腫であり,Epstein-Barrウイルス(EBV)関連腫瘍とされている.高度の壊死像と細胞浸潤のためHE染色では確定診断できないことも多い.咽頭に初発し,軽度ではあるもののEBV抗体価の上昇も見られた症例につき報告する.症例は63歳の男性で主訴は咽頭痛であった.上・中咽頭に腫瘍性病変を認め生検したが壊死と肉芽組織であった.種々の検査を進める中,VCA-IgG 640倍,VCA-IgA 10倍,EA-IgG <10倍,EA-IgA <10倍と軽度ではあるがEBV抗体価の上昇を認めた.あらためての生検による確定診断に先立ち,本疾患を鑑別の中でも上位として念頭に置いた.血清中EBV DNA量が320コピー/mLであることもこれを支持する結果であった.鼻性NK/T細胞リンパ腫ではEBV抗体価が上昇する例はさほど多くないとされるが,診断に難渋する例において上昇を認める場合は本疾患が疑われるため,測定が望ましい.

The Ou Range, the backbone of Northeast Japan which is less than 1, 000m high except for sporadic Quaternary volcanoes and some peaks, has shed debris eastward into the Kitakami Lowland during the Quaternary. This paper, after establishing the classification and correlation of the fluvial terrace surfaces in the Kitakami Lowland in stratigraphic relation with a number of marker tephras, discusses fluctuations of debris supply during the Late Pleistocene in eastern Japan.The fluvial surfaces in the Kitakami Lowland are divided into the T1-T3, H1-H2, M1-M2 and L1-L2 surfaces, in descending order. T1-T3 surfaces are accumulation surfaces that had developed during the Middle Pleistocene. The H1-H2 surfaces are correlated to the penultimate glacial in age. The M1 surface is a distinct depositional surface, and was formed in the period of stage 5 of oxygen isotope record before 90(80)ka. The M2 and L1 surfaces were built up in the early stadial (approx. 60-40ka) and the later stadial (around 20ka) of the Last Glacial, respectively. The L1 surface is an accumulation surface. However, there is no evidence of remarkable deposition associated with the M2 surface. The L2 surface is dated at several ka.Two characteristic features on debris-supply fluctuations during the late Pleistocene can be pointed out as follows: 1) a distinct accumulation period in stage 5 and in the later stadial, 2) very small debris accumulation in the early stadial. A swell in supplied debris indicate that the forest-line of the Ou Range dropped and that expansion of debrissupply area in the range occurred. Thus, the biggest drop in forest-line altitude occurred in stage 5 and/or in the later stadial. The area above the forest-line had scarcely developed around the Ou range in the early stadial.A comparison of landform evolution around the Ou Range to that aroud a mountainous area that has been high in altitude or in latitude, such as the Hidaka Range (Hokkaido) or the Japan Alps (Central Japan), enables us to infer the morphogenetic environments during the late Pleistocene in eastern Japan as follows: 1) in stage 5 and the later stadial, the vegetation zone had so lowered that a large amount of debris was supplied during each period in almost all the mountains in eastern Japan; 2) in the early stadial, a comparatively large area had been beyond the forest-line in the Hidaka Range and the Japan Alps, but a very small area had been beyond it in the other mountains; 3) because the early stadial was a long cold period, a large amount of debris could be accumulated in the high mountains, in spite of a rather low rate of supply.A vertical change of vegetation zone to a lower altitude, resulting in an abundant supply of debris, is closely related to cooling. From the point of view of temperature, it is concluded that it had been warmer during the early stadial than during the later stadial. The accumulation period in stage 5 should correspond to cold substages (substage 5d and/or 5b). Although it might have been very cold during substage 5d and/or 5b, the sea level had still been high. Thus, it seems very likely that these periods in stage 5 were characterized by heavy snowfall and the largest glacial extension in the Japanese mountains.
