Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology, which is currently being developed around the world, could become a practical countermeasure to reduce emissions of the greenhouse gas. Depleted petroleum reservoirs and aquifer have been proposed as candidate sites of CCS. The long-term aim of this research is to establish a bio-technological system to convert geologically-stored CO2 into methane, as an energy resource. To develop a means for the conversion, we focus on technological application of a bio-electrochemical system using microbial catalyzed electrode (bio-cathode).

本論文では第12回国際理論心理学会(ISTP)大会において発表された諸研究を紹介し、現在の理論心理学の動向を考察する。第12回大会では国境の壁や個別学問領域間の没交渉など、心に関する研究の発展を妨げるさまざまな「境界を越える」という公式標語のもとで、心理学史や心理学の哲学、批判心理学など、多様なアプローチからなされた心理学のメタサイエンス的研究が報告された。

In this paper we describe a newly developed assessment method of Japanese mora timing, which is the foundation of the rhythm of the Japanese language, based on the phonetic segment technique. In this technique time-spectral patterns of uttered speech are transferred to the phonetic segment labels every 8ms frame shift. First, we propose a consonant region and vowel region estimation algorithm based on the phonetic segment labels. Next, we calculate the mora length simply and accurately by the number of phonetic segment labels and evaluate the pronunciation of foreign students. Furthermore, by using the utterance data of Japanese students, we show that the permissible variation based on the type of each mora and adjacent mora differs. We claim that the proposed method of evaluating the validity of a foreign student's mora timing by using the mora length and the ratio of each mora length to the whole word length is effective.

The current study experimentally manipulated the process in which two types of products were provided: one had a characteristic design but its use was not readily apparent (the product requiring familiarization, or PRF) while the other had a general design and its use was readily apparent (the self-explanatory product, or SEP). The aim of this study was to investigate differences between the PRF and SEP in terms of the value of an emotional connection, the value of familiarization, and desire to buy. Results indicated that the PRF significantly induced both an emotional connection and familiarization more than the SEP did, but the desire to buy the two products did not differ significantly. The current results did not experimentally indicate whether an emotional connection or familiarization leads to a desire to buy. In addition, this study analyzed the association between formation of impressions of a PRF and the emotional connection or familiarization with that product. Results indicated that a more novel PRF resulted in a stronger emotional connection and increased familiarization. A bland impression diminished familiarization, but individual differences in a bland impression were not associated with an emotional connection. Impressions of the novelty of a PRF may be associated with encounters with that product overall while a bland impression may be specifically associated with certain encounters with that product.◆本研究では、デザインが特徴的で一見して使途がすぐにわからない商品(経験ブロバイダー商品)と、一般的なデザインで使途がすぐにわかる同じカテゴリの商品(対照商品)を呈示することで経験プロバイダーを実験的に操作し、これらの商品に対して、実験参加者の情緒的経験価値と関係的経験価値、および、購買意欲に違いが認められるのかを検証した。その結果、経験プロバイダー商品は対照商品よりも有意に情緒的経験価値と関係的経験価値を生じさせたが、それらの商品の購買意欲には違いが認められなかった。これらの結果から、経験価値が購買意欲の違いを生み出すかどうかを実験的に明らかにすることはできなかった。また、本研究で用いられた経験ブロバイダー商品の印象構造が情緒的経験価値と関係的経験価値とどのように関連するのかを検討した。その結果、これらの商品に対して斬新な印象を抱く人ほど、情緒的経験価値と関係的経験価値が高まり、柔和な印象を抱く人ほど関係的経験価値は低下するが、柔和な印象の個人差は情緒的経験価値と関連がないことが示された。これらの結果は、経験ブロバイダー商品に対する印象には、経験価値全般と関連するもの(斬新な印象)もある一方、経験価値と特異的に関連するもの(柔和な印象)もあることを示唆する。

The development of Information Technology has unraveled a new form of employment, crowdsourcing. With the spread of crowdsourcing, psychological researchers began collecting data with crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing enables them to collect data from a wider range of people in a shorter timespan relative to the conventional methods. Although the application of crowdsourcing has gained popularity in foreign psychological research in recent times, Japanese researchers have not yet tapped this resource. Therefore, this paper presents the available framework of crowdsourcing service for Japanese researchers and its usage aiming for the spread of crowdsourcing in Japanese psychological research. Furthermore, we underline the required precautionary measures while collecting data using crowdsourcing.

十勝管内大樹町にある生花苗沼では、他の水域と比べ巨大なシジミが漁獲される。しかし、本シジミが一般的な有用種であるヤマトシジミ(Corbicula japonica)なのか、何らかの原因で成長が著しいのか等不明な点が多い。本研究は、生花苗沼に生息する巨大シジミの成長因子解明を目的とし調査を実施中である。本報では、これまで実施してきた生花苗沼の水質、同沼のシジミの食性、成長についての研究成果の一部を報告する。

What we should study is affected by the calling of time and society, and is not completely unrelated to political conditions and social policies. For example, although the studies on developmental disorders or on stress have been popular for a long time, those are not only symptomatic therapies but they also reproduce the reality. Also, the eagerness to adhere to the scientific approaches in the psychology world drives us in those studies using micro- or high-tech machines or highly advanced statistics. As a result, the situation of "psychology without society" may be produced. In this special issue, we would like to criticize the mainstream psychologies and discuss how psychology faces the real contemporary society from the view point of critical, feminist, and qualitative psychology.

「化粧よれ」とは, ファンデーションがほうれい線や目元などのシワに経時で溜まる化粧崩れ現象である。化粧がよれると, シワが目立ち, 疲れまたは老けた印象を与える。ゆえに, 多くの研究が着目してきた皮脂による化粧崩れ現象だけでなく, 顔の動きによる化粧よれを防止する技術が必要となる。本研究では, 化粧よれ防止技術の開発を目的とし, 化粧よれの①メカニズム探索, ②定量的評価および, ③処方への応用を行った。その結果, 化粧よれは, ファンデーションの粉が皮脂に濡れて, シワが動くことにより, ファンデーションの粉が「とれ」および「凝集」を引き起こすことで生じることを見出した。さらに, メカニズムを基に化粧よれをモデル系で再現し, 再現した化粧よれの画像をヒストグラム解析することで, 化粧よれ(ファンデーションの「とれ」および「凝集」)の定量的評価方法を開発した。最後に, この評価方法を用いて化粧品原料をスクリーニングし, 弾性ポリマーと高重合シリコーンの組み合わせが化粧よれを防ぐことを見出した。この組み合わせを処方に応用することで, 化粧よれを防ぐ化粧下地の開発へ展開することができた。

This paper examines how psychology relates to society and social practices. Theoretical psychology and critical psychology have investigated the influence of both of internal and external factors on psychological knowledge such as the theories on personality, psychological testing and psycho-therapies. Generally speaking, Japanese psychologists have tended to avoid social practices concerning the social injustice and social inequality of those who suffer from severe life threatening. The author suggests psychological practices that aim to contribute to the welfare of people and to promote research on the mind with a critical perspective are much more needed in contemporary Japanese society where psychologization is rapidly progressing. This paper also argues for the New History of Psychology to deconstruct and reconstruct mainstream psychology, discourse analysis as a significant methodology to research the subjectivity of people living in 'the world after Fukushima', and the importance of the ethics of psychologists in the controversy on psychological torture inflicted in the war on the terror after 9.11.

The collective dental examinations of nursery school children aged 3 to 5 in Shinshinotsu village in Hokkaido have been conducted for several years by our departments in cooperation with the administrative organs of Shinshinotsu village. The data of dental examinations in 1994 were analyzed and compared with the data for 1988 as well as with the data of the Survey of Dental Diseases by the Health Policy Bureau Ministry of Health and Welfare, Japan in 1993 and 1987. The results were as follows; (1) The rate of persons with carious teeth and the mean number of carious teeth per person in Shinshinotsu village were higher than those of the National Survey by the Ministry of Health and Welfare at all ages. (2) The rate of persons with carious teeth and the mean number of carious teeth per person decreased. The rate of persons with dental treatment increased from 1988 to 1994 in 4 year-old children in Shinshinotsu village in the same manner as the results of the National Survey by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, while dental caries showed no decrease in the 3 and 5 year-old children.

近年,パドルシフトの採用が増えてきており,幅広いユーザーにとって使い易いパドルシフト開発が必要である.本論文において,パドルシフトの機能展開を行い人間工学的要因を特定した.操作性要因としてレイアウト要件を,操作感要因としてFS特性要件を設定し,要件を満たす試作品の操作性と操作感が良いことを確認した.

消化器癌の進展過程でのマトリックス分解酵素 (matrix metalloproteinase: MMP) による細胞外マトリックス (extracellular matrix: ECM) 破壊における間葉系細胞の役割について検討した.1型, III型コラーゲンを分解するMMP-1は癌先進部組織で高い酵素活性を示した.MMP-1産生細胞の同定を目的にin situ hybridizationを行った結果, 癌巣周囲の線維芽細胞や顆粒球にMMP-1mRNAの発現を認めた.ヒト胃粘膜由来線維芽細胞の培養液にヒト胃癌細胞株MKN-74の培養上清を添加すると, 単独培養に比べ高いMMP-1産生を認めた (p<0.05).また, ヒト胃癌細胞株TMK-1の腹腔内投与によるヌードマウス腹膜播種モデルでは, 癌細胞を線維芽細胞の培養上清とともに投与することで結節数の有意な増加を認めた (p<0.01).以上より, 消化器癌によるECM破壌に間葉系細胞が重要な役割を演じていることが確認された.

ガバペンチン エナカルビル(レグナイト®錠)は,新規レストレスレッグス症候群(restless legs syndrome: RLS)治療薬として開発されたガバペンチンのプロドラッグである.本剤は,ガバペンチンと異なる経路で消化管より吸収され,生体内で速やかにガバペンチンに変換されるため,ガバペンチンで問題となる投与量の増加に伴うバイオアベイラベリティの低下がなく,経口投与時の血中濃度の個体差が小さくなるようにデザインされている.一方,RLSの発症メカニズムは十分に解明されていないが,その症状はむずむずとした脚の不快感や痛みといった異常感覚を伴っており,RLS患者では脊髄後角に入力する感覚神経線維からのシグナル伝達の亢進あるいは異常が起こっていることが示唆されている.このことから,本薬の活性本体であるガバペンチンは,脊髄後角において感覚神経終末に発現する電位依存性カルシウムチャネルα2δサブユニットに結合し,興奮性シナプス伝達を抑制することで,RLSの症状に対する治療効果を発揮すると考えられる.実際に,国内外の臨床試験において,本剤はガバペンチンに比べ優れた薬物動態特性を示し,また中等度から高度の特発性RLS患者の症状に対して優れた改善効果を示した.一方,副作用およびその発現率は,市販されているガバペンチン製剤で認められているものとほとんど変わらず,本剤の忍容性が確認された.以上より,カバペンチン エナカルビルはRLSの薬物治療において新たな選択肢になると期待される.

本論文では,アナログ画材によりオフライン彩色された画像素材を,デジタルなFlashスタイルアニメーション制作に取り入れる統合的なワークフローを提案する.デジタルなオーサリング手法には,下描き段階での編集のしやすさ等の利点があり,アナログ画材による彩色は,有機的な質感を演出するのに有効である.しかし両者の連携には手間がかかるため,効率的な連携ワークフローを提案する.まずユーザは,デジタルソフトウェアでキャラクタのスケッチと,動きの設計を行う.次にシステムが,ユーザの描いたレイヤ画像をまとめて紙に印刷し,ユーザは任意のアナログ画材を用いて彩色する.最後に,彩色済み用紙をスキャンし,システムが自動でアニメーションに再構成する.提案ワークフローの実装例を示し,ユーザの作例と得られたコメントを通して,提案システムの利点と将来課題について考察する.We present an animation creation workflow for integrating offline physical, painted media into the digital authoring of Flash-style animations. Digital authoring methods are full of useful nonlinear editing features. Physically painted media can provide organic atmosphere to animation. To incorporate both in a labor-saving manner, we present a workflow that integrates the offline painting and digital animation creation processes. First, a user makes a rough sketch of the visual elements and defines their movements using our digital authoring software with a sketch interface. Then these images are exported to printed pages, and users can paint using offline physical media. Finally, the work is scanned and imported back into the digital content, forming a composite animation that combines digital and physical media. We present an implementation of this system to demonstrate its workflow. We also discuss the advantages of using physical media in digital animations through design evaluations.
