CERNで建設中のLHC加速器はもうすぐ完成し物理実験が始まる.これにより人類史上で初めて1 TeVのエネルギー領域を探索することが可能になる.素粒子のより基本的な姿を研究する上で,この1 TeV領域を探索することが特別に重要であるとする明確な理由が存在する.標準モデルの中で唯一の未発見の粒子として残っているヒッグス粒子はほとんど確実にLHC実験によって発見される.さらに超対称性粒子の発見など,標準モデルを超える新しい素粒子物理の兆候を捕らえる可能性も非常に高い.暗黒物質の発見もありうる.ここでは小特集のイントロダクションとして,LHC計画の目的や経過を概説した上で,LHC加速器と四つの実験の紹介,および日本によるLHCプロジェクトへの国際協力参加の現状を述べる.

Two wood trunks, one charred and 75 years old and the other not charred and more than 199 years old, were collected from Hayakawa ignimbrite of Niigata Yakeyama Volcano. They were investigated using the radiocarbon wiggle-matching method to determine the age of the eruption. The result was 1225-1244 cal AD (95.4%), which is over 200 years younger than previous estimates. The eruption, including the Hayakawa ignimbrite, was the largest during the volcano's life period of 3000 years. Co-ignimbrite fallout KGc ash has been found at many archaeological sites spreading on the eastern flanks of Myoko Volcano and the Takada Plain. The age obtained here will provide a useful time constraint for archaeologists and volcanologists studying this area.

東大寺図書館が所蔵する未整理文書のうち、中村純一寄贈文書と、新修東大寺文書聖教第46函~第77函を調査検討し、それぞれについて報告書を公刊した。中村文書は内容的には興福寺の承仕のもとに集積された資料群であり、その中には明治維新期の詳細な日記があったので、その一部を翻刻・公表した。また中村文書以外の新修東大寺文書からは、年預所など複数の寺内組織の近世資料群が、元来の整理形態を保って保存されている様相がうかがえた。また、新出の中世東大寺文書を把握することができた。

民話など昔話に登場する“鬼”は,山奥に住まい,村に来ては食べ物や財産,娘をさらっていく悪しき存在であることが多い。しかし, 筆者の「『読みがたり』に登場する“鬼”」1)には「鬼の田植え」のように,“善い鬼”が登場する話もある。そして,青鬼集落にも“善い鬼”の話が伝えられている。“善い鬼”の話は,非常に稀な例である。“善い鬼”は,どのような事情で生まれたのか。人間と鬼の関係性は,どのようになっているのか。また,子どもには,何を伝えているのかを探った。

本研究は、京都府竹野郡木津村(現京丹後市)の役場文書の整理と翻刻を行いながら、行政の最小単位としての地域社会の中で、1930年代以降の戦争がいかなる歴史的意味をもっていたのかを、社会史的かつ総合的に考察することを課題とした。その結果、明らかになったのは、明治以降、地域社会に埋め込まれた徴兵制とそれによって形成された戦争文化が総力戦体制の基軸となったこと、経済更生運動にともなって形成された行政村の組織化を利用して総力戦体制が構築され、やがて戦時体制が地域社会に覆いかぶさり、はぐくまれつつあった自治の契機を破壊していく、ということである。

近年,従来の CUDA に加えて,GPGPU プログラミングのための新たな標準プログラミング環境として OpenCL が利用可能となった.本論文では,CUDA と OpenCL のプログラムの実行性能差を定量的に評価する.まず,ほぼ同等の処理を行う CUDA と OpenCL のプログラムを実装し,性能を比較する.次に,その性能差の主要因を調査し,CUDA コンパイラではサポートされているいくつかのコンパイラ最適化手法が,現在の OpenCL コンパイラではサポートされていないことを明らかにする.最後に,OpenCL コンパイラで生成されるコードを手動で最適化することによって CUDA と同等の性能を達成できた結果から,今後の OpenCL コンパイラの最適化機能が強化されることにより,CUDA コードを OpenCL に単純変換するだけでも,CUDA と同等の性能を達成できる可能性が示された.

運動機能障がい者は,意思伝達装置,環境制御装置などの支援機器を利用すれば,より自立した生活を送ることができる.このとき,支援機器の操作に用いるのが「操作スイッチ」である.しかし,従来の操作スイッチは,不随意運動により大きく影響を受けるというが欠点あり,その結果として装置の誤動作が生じていた.それを克服すべく我々は,3軸地磁気センサを用いた新しい操作スイッチGSN/1の開発を試みてきた.このスイッチの特長には,1)固定・位置合わせが容易,2)随意異運動に対しては高感度,3)不随意運動に対しては低感度の3つがある.本研究では,1)随意運動/不随意運動の判別性能,および2)走査型オンスクリーンキーボードであるオペレートナビ^[○!R]の操作性能の2つを定量評価した.5人の健常者と1人の肢体不自由者を用いた実験より,GSN/1は,1)随意運動に近い不随意運動を入力しても誤動作しないこと,および2)オペレートナビ^[○!R]の操作における使用性が高いことの2っが明らかとなった.

28歳, 男性の扁桃摘出術中に筋強直をともなって発生した悪性高熱症を経験した. 早期発見, 早期治療により救命できた. 親族にMHの既往があるにも関わらず, 術前それを聴取できなかった. 患者に医学的知識がない場合, 家族歴を忘れてしまったり, 遺伝性疾患を隠したりすることがあるため注意が必要である.MHの初期症状は気道閉塞とよく似ているため, 特に扁桃摘出術のように気道のトラブルが予測される手術においては鑑別が難しい.

戦国軍記の中に「日記」という名を持つ作品が相当数ある。また日記という名を持たない軍記の文中にも「日記」という語が時折見受けられる。戦場の日記はよく知られているが、戦国時代には城中日記というものもあったと考えられる。特に籠城あるいは落城という危機に見舞われた城中では日記が記された。その日記は落城の際に城外に持ち出されて、後に滅亡した一族の家の記として軍記が書かれるときに利用されたと思われる。本稿はその一面を明らかにしようと試みるとともに、波多野秀治一族の滅亡を描く『籾井家日記』を具体例として取り上げ、滅亡記を綴る作者たちの思いを考察した。

Significant leakage of the primary containment vessel (PCV) occurred on March 15, 2011 at Unit 2 of Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station, causing land contamination over a large area. From the radiation dose rate map of Unit 2 and the temperature trend of the PCV, degradation of the PCV top head flange gasket was identified as the cause of the leakage. The design set point of the rapture disc and operability of the valves in the hardened containment venting system were further identified as factors contributing to the leakage. Based on the lessons from the leakage, the gasket material was improved to have greater heat resistance in a steam environment, the PCV cooling system was diversified to improve reliability, and the operability and operation methods of the PCV venting were improved for greater robustness of the PCV in severe accidents.

The business in the enterprise is closely related with the information system to such an extent that the business activities are difficult without the information system. The system design technique that considers the business process well, and that enables a quick system development is requested. In addition, the demand for the development cost is also severe than before. To cope with the current situation, the modeling technology named BPM(Business Process Management/Modeling)is drawing attention and becoming important as a key technology. BPM is a technology to model business activities as business processes and visualize them to improve the business efficiency. However, a general methodology to develop the information system using the analysis result of BPM doesn't exist, and a few development cases are reported. This paper proposes an information system development method combining business process modeling with executable modeling. In this paper we describe a guideline to support consistency of development and development efficiency and the framework enabling to develop the information system from model. We have prototyped the information system with the proposed method and our experience has shown that the methodology is valuable.

The microbial communities transported by Asian desert dust (KOSA) events have attracted much attention as bioaerosols, because the transported microorganisms are thought to influence the downwind ecosystems in Japan. In particular, halotolerant bacteria which are known to be tolerant to atmospheric environmental stresses were investigated for clarifying the long-range transport of microorganisms by KOSA. Bioaerosol samples were collected at high altitudes within the KOSA source area (Dunhuang City, China) and the KOSA arrival area (Suzu City, Japan). The microorganisms in bioaerosol samples grew in media containing up to 15 % NaCl, suggesting that bacteria tolerant to high salinities would remain viable in the atmosphere. The PCR-DGGE (Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis) analysis using 16S rRNA genes sequences revealed that the halobacterial communities in bioaerosol samples belonged to the members of the genera Bacillus and Staphylococcus and that some bacterial species belonging to Bacillus subtilis group were similar among the samples of both cities. Moreover, some sequences of B. subtilis group were found to be identical for the species collected at high altitudes and on the ground surfaces. This suggests that active mixing of the boundary layer transports viable halotolerant bacteria up to the free atmosphere at the KOSA source area, while down to the ground surface at the KOSA arrival areas.

<b>Objective </b>: There are two types of studies on the relationship between adverse events and genetic background and the relationship between constitution and genetic background.  To investigate the relationship between adverse events and constitution retrospectively, we first reviewed the appearance of the constitution responsible for the adverse events in the relevant sources of information.<br><b>Methods </b>: Fifty two pharmaceutical interview sheets, 150 case reports and two manuals; "jyudaina fukusayou kaihi notameno fukuyaku sidou jyouhousyu", "jyutoku fukusayou sikanbetu manual" were selected for review.<br><b>Results </b>: Fourteen items about the constitution were found in the pharmaceutical interview sheets.  No items about the constitution were found in the case reports and manuals.<br><b>Conclusion </b>: Rules for the preparation of pharmaceutical interview sheets and case reports to use the constitution information is necessary for retrospective analysis of this issue.
