Sensitization and allergic lesions resulting from metals in our living environment have often been reported. However, dentists have paid little attention so far on sensitization or dermal or mucosal lesions caused by metal restorations. We have established a team of 14 research institutions to perform patch tests with 18 kinds of dental metals and to conduct and epidemiological survey on the patch test positive subjects.Prior to the study, application of the testing solutions and reading of the skin reactions were standardized. Patch tests were done on volunteers and patients with the total of 1, 728 subjects. On those patients who showed positive reactions to the patch tests, metal analysis for the intraoral restorations was done by the method developed by Inoue et al. The analysis results were then compared to the patch test results to investigate the relation between the two.The following data was collected and discussions were made:(1) patch test posit ive/negative rates for the total subjects, (2) their differences regarding sex, age, or a kind of metal, (3) regional dfference, (4) relation between an individual with patch test positive result and his/her intraoral metal restoration (s), (5) types and locations of the lesions, (6) patch test positive rate (overall and of the each metal) for the patient group, (7) difference in the patch test positive rate between the volunteer group and the patient group, (8) comparison between the patch test positive rates among the M-9, M-11 or M-13 series, and among the different concentrations of the testing solutions, (9) comparison of the results between patch tests and their confirmation tests, (10) changes in the patch test reaction during the testing period.From these results, it is considered that careful and adequate measures against the metal allergy should be taken, when the dentist starts the prosthodontic treatment.

Double flower and hortensia (mophead) hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla (Thunb.) Ser.) traits are recessively inherited. Cross breeding of these traits in hydrangea is difficult because it takes about two years from crossing to flowering. In this study, we aimed to obtain DNA linkage markers that would allow accelerated selection of these traits. We used next-generation sequencing to comprehensively collect DNA sequences from the ‘Kirakiraboshi’ with a double flower and lacecap inflorescence and the ‘Frau Yoshimi’ with a single flower and hortensia inflorescence, and designed simple sequence repeat (SSR) primer pairs for map construction. We screened 768 SSR primer pairs in 93 F2 progeny derived from ‘Kirakiraboshi’ and ‘Frau Yoshimi’. We identified 147 loci, which were expanded to 18 linkage groups with a total map length of 980 cM. Linkage analysis identified that both the double flower trait from ‘Kirakiraboshi’ (dKira) and the hortensia trait from ‘Frau Yoshimi’ (hFrau) were located on linkage group KF_4. Detailed linkage analysis using 351 F2 progeny revealed a 34.8 cM map length between the two loci and identified two tightly linked SSR markers, STAB045 for dKira and HS071 for hFrau. Genetic analysis suggested that double flower and hortensia traits are each controlled by a single recessive gene. Together, the linkage map, SSR markers, and genetic information obtained in this study will be useful for future hydrangea breeding.

本稿では,ラーニング・コモンズにおける人的支援の一形態として,徳島大学附属図書館が実践している学生協働による学習支援について報告する。学生が運営する学習相談や学習関連イベントは教員の協力が得られやすく,また,学生同士の繋がりにより,図書館単独で実施するよりも活用されやすいメリットをもつ。一方で,図書館職員の関わり方や評価方法等,実施にあたっての課題も多い。大学教育の変革の中で,大学図書館が学習支援の一部を担う組織としてどのような役割を果たすべきなのか,大学図書館と関連組織が連携の上検討していく必要がある。

The Kanto Plain is the biggest and deepest groundwater basin on the Japanese Islands. The water in the basin has been used in various purposes, and the volume of use is estimated to be the greatest in the country. Consequently, severe problems have emerged in the history of water development and water environment protection. The study show two stories in the groundwater basin of the Kanto Plain, corresponding to depth. The deeper one emphasizes salt water containing natural gas, and the shallow one is characterized by the largest groundwater flow system in the country. The paper reviews the geological features of the basin. Groundwater condition, especially deep groundwater, is also reviewed to understand the next stage of activities to develop and protect the environment.

最高次の脳機能とされる遂行機能は従来治療回復が困難とされてきた。本研究では先行研究から遂行機能の回復を目ざす (1) 自己教授法, (2) 問題解決訓練および (3) 身体訓練を取り上げ,慢性期前頭葉障害者6名に各6週間ずつ訓練を施行した。その結果,自己教授法および問題解決訓練が有効である可能性が示唆され,全例で日常生活で一定の改善傾向が認められた。以上について若干の考察を加えた。

本研究は,思春期・青年期における広汎性発達障害(以下,PDD)者が自己をどのように理解しているのかを明らかにすることを目的とする。22名のPDD者と880名の定型発達者を対象に,自己理解質問(Damon & Hart,1988)を実施し,得られた回答を自己理解分類モデル(SUMPP)に基づき,領域,対人性タイプ,肯否の3つの側面において分類した。その結果,(1)PDD者は,他者との相互的な関係を通して自己を否定的に理解し,他者の存在や影響を全く考慮せずに自己を肯定的に理解する傾向にあること,(2)PDD者は,「行動スタイル」の領域における自己理解が多く,その中でも障害特性としてのこだわりに関連する「注意関心」の領域がPDD者にとって自己評価を高く保つために重要な領域であること,(3)PDD者は,自己から他者あるいは他者から自己へのどちらか一方向的な関係のなかで自己を理解することが多く,Wing(1997/1998)の提唱する受動群や積極奇異群との関連が示唆されること,(4)社会的な情勢や事件への言及がPDD者の自己理解において重要である場合があることなどが明らかにされた。

It is difficult that to accurately run periodic process in cycle of less than a few tens of millisecond, using normal Linux distributions with normal scheduling policy in round-robin fashion. This article shows an easy way to resolve the problem by replacing the kernel with a low latency kernel. Its performance of latency without intentional load was evaluated using a frequently-used command at various interval and priority. It is possible that to design original software which runs on the soft-realtime OS. To evaluate its usability, we demonstrated positional control of a manipulator every 5 milliseconds. By running the control software on CUI environment, standard deviation of the time interval was suppressed compared to running the same software on GUI environment.

Traditional Japanese bows are composite (clad) materials made up of bamboo and wood with very high flexibility. Each bow is composed of multi arcs with different radius of curvature and cross sectional areas along with the length. In using the Japanese bows there are three stages. At first the bow is free standing, then, it is constrained negatively using the chord. The bow is then loaded to form various shapes. Although the shape of archery is similar, Japanese bows are not symmetrical, and the grip is off center, therefore, the characteristic and dynamics of Japanese bows are very complicated. In recent years, large deformation analyses of the flexible bows have attracted attention considerably because of both analytical and technological interests in the design of bows and arrows. In this study, the details of the simulation results of Japanese bows obtained in using a simplified model treated as a nonlinear flexible beam with a large deformation are presented using the elliptic integral derived from Elastica theory. From this investigation, some interesting and valuable information are obtained. Furthermore, using a flexible thin PVC beam specimen, a large deformation experiment is performed to confirm the applicability of the large deformation theory proposed here. The experimental results closely matches that of the theoretical values. Therefore, this analysis is useful in improving the design of bows. This study would be useful to develop technique of Japanese bows in the field of the so-called sports-leisure.

本研究は2000年に始まった意見陳述制度と2008年に始まった被害者参加制度に着目し,両制度を実際に行使した犯罪被害者遺族がこれらの制度をどのように評価し,またその意義や問題点をどのように理解しているのかを検討した。交通事犯や殺人などの遺族97名から協力を得て制度に対する評価を求めたほか,「制度の意義」「制度の問題点」「行使するとき留意した点」につき自由記述を求めた。その結果,両制度はいずれも遺族から高く評価されており,とくに「心情・意見を直接被告人や裁判官に伝えられる」「思考や気持ちの整理ができる」点が肯定的な制度評価につながっていること,逆に,「自分の話を被告人や裁判官がどのように受け止めたか分からない」「専門家や経験者による支援があればよかった」という点が否定的な制度評価につながっていることが明らかになった。

A case of oral mucosal ulcer caused by the inappropriate use of nicotine gum is reported.The patient was a 55-year-old man who was a heavy smoker. He had smoked 60 cigarettes a day for 36 years. He had been using nicotine gum as a "stop-smoking aid" for over 8 months. He was referred to our department because of an unhealed undermining ulcer at the mucogingival junction of the lower right anterior teeth. On exfoliative cytology, there were no atypical cells in a specimen of the ulcer. Therefore, we recommended him to stop using nicotine gum, which was inappropriately placed at the buccal vestibule of mouth. The tenderness then gradually improved, and the ulcer healed in the month. Long-term inappropriate use of nicotine gum can cause adverse effects to the oral mucosa.

In recent years, engineering technology has become essential for our daily life. We cannot live without civil engineering or information technology even for one day. At the same time, as utilizing technologies sometimes infringe human rights, many laws and regulations exist in our society. In spite of importance to collaborate with legal experts for engineer to realize implementation of their new technologies into society, and a lot of efforts of the Professional Committee of Law and Technology in the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, it has not been understood in Japan for a long time. Many issues have been discussed relating to the growing concern about autonomous vehicles, but it seems insufficient from the view of legal and engineering collaboration. In this paper, a case study is introduced that is an example of legal engineering showing countermeasures for legal issues to realize autonomous shipping performed by Robotics Laboratory in Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. Furthermore, knowledge obtained by this case study is proposed as legal engineering which presents how engineers may identify legal issues and perform risk assessment of their developing technologies. By communicating with legal experts, engineers might be able to perform technology development with legal risk mitigation and take a role for rulemaking especially in the field of soft-law.

The purpose of this paper is to clarify the characteristics of cutting noise and noise sources in metal cutting with a single point cutting tool. When a cylindrical workpiece is machined with a lathe, the sound pressure level and frequency analyses were measured. Effects of overhang length of the cutting tool, cutting condition, tool wear, work material and shape of the workpiece on thecutting noise analyses were experimentally made clear. Two prominent peaks of the sound pressure level were observed from the frequency analyses of cutting noise at the frequencies of around 4 000 Hz and 10 000 Hz. The former peak is caused by the vibration of the cutting tool system and the sound pressure level at the frequency increased with the increase of tool wear. The latter peak is affected by the workpiece system and the frequency of the peak varied with the decrease of wall thickness in pipe cutting with a lathe.

『日本人の食事摂取基準』は, 厚生労働省から出されているガイドラインのひとつであり, 食事・栄養に関するわが国で唯一の包括的ガイドラインである。「日本人の食事摂取基準 (2015年版) 」は, 全344ページからなり, 巻末に添えられた2つの参考資料まで含めると440ページにも及ぶ。食事摂取基準は, 栄養と食事に関するわが国で唯一の包括的なガイドラインである。今回の改定では数値の変更は比較的に少ない。一方, ガイドラインとしての位置づけをより明確にし, 活用方法について特にその理論的視点が詳述されている点が特徴である。本稿では, 日本人の食事摂取基準 (2015年版) の概要を紹介するとともに, 食事摂取基準の学問的および実務的意義について, ガイドラインという観点から簡単な考察を加える。

This paper discusses the present special issue on “Communication Viewed from Hearers' Behaviors,” focusing on Erving Goffman's participation framework and gestural phenomena observed in conversation. In particular, it points out the possibility to conceive of speaker as a) a hearer, b) a receiver of the information, as well as c) an addressee. It also points out that grand gesture and simultaneous gestural matching can be loci of analysis in understanding how social-interactional plain and cognitive plain interact in investigatory conversation between the suspect and the policemen and⁄or prosecutory officials, and in psychological counseling.

Recently, smartphones and tablets have been used for collecting records of patients' compliance with drug regimens at medical sites. However, it is difficult for many elderly patients to operate these devices. Most medical facilities are also unable to prepare and distribute these devices to all patients. In this study, we have introduced a novel and simple electronic device system to evaluate its usefulness to patients. This new device is a paper card device equipped with an electric circuit board and a memory chip, which is employed to record the times at which patients take medications and the patients' condition. These simple paper electric devices have the potential to be used in various scenarios for monitoring medical and daily life activities. Using the new devices would enable effective and cost-effective medical care.

Topographic features around Izu Oshima region were summarized with special references to the characteristics relating to subduction of the Philippine Sea plate (PHS) along the Sagami Trough. Several topographic highs having circular contours around Oshima Island may be the results of parasitic eruption of Oshima Volcano. Their trend is almost parallel to the elongation of the linearity of parasitic cones distributing onshore. Along the eastern trench slope off Oshima Island, large scale collapse structures are seen in the submarine topographic map. These are the result of the falling down mostly of pyroclastic materials (tephras) during historic ages. The Oshima Island shows eastward tilting owing to the bending resulted from the subduction of the PHS. Large scale of the collapse structures may be caused by the oversteepening of the eastern trench slope of Oshima Island and soft sediments consisting mostly of pyroclastics including a large quantity of pore water slide down along the trench slope as far as the Sagami Trough.Radial distribution both of saddles and valleys observed northeastern offshore part of the Oshima Island may be lava flows and/or dike swarms derived from the old Okata Volcano whose eruption center was estimated to exist at the northeastern extension of the Oshima Island.About 4 km south off the Oshima Island, large scale of the topographic breakes consisting of caotic highs and depressions are seen in the submarine topographic map. These may be debris flow deposits along eastern slope of Ohmurodashi which consists mostly of the Quaternary rhyolites geologically and chemically similar to those exposed on the Niijima and Kozushima Islands. These are the results of catastrophic phreatomagmatic eruption of the Ohmurodashi such as that of the Myojinsho. Mixture of pyroclastics and lavas will be found from these caotic areas.The upper steam of the Sagami trough shows notable meandering whose direction is almost parallel to that of the movement of the PHS east off Oshima Island and almost perpendicular east off Ohmurodashi. At the latter case, thrust structures may trace along the subduction zone at the landward slope of the Sagami trough. Just landward side of the thrust, curious round topographic highs can be observed. They may be mud volcanoes.Topographic features observed around Oshima Island may best be understood in term of the normal and oblique subduction of the Philippine Sea plate along the Sagami Trough.

本研究の目的は、夫の家事遂行および情緒的サポートが妻の夫婦関係満足感にどのような影響を与えるのか、またその影響の仕方は他の要因によって異なるのかを検討することである。従来、従属変数として扱われてきた家事分担を独立変数として設定し、妻の夫婦関係満足感への影響をみること、またこれまであまり扱われてこなかった夫の情緒的サポートを取り上げていることが本研究の特色である。データは、NFR予備調査「家族と夫婦関係に関する調査」を用いた。分析対象は、夫と同居する有配偶女性122人である。分析の結果、夫の家事遂行より情緒的サポートの方が、妻の夫婦関係満足感と関連すること、またその関連は伝統的な性別役割意識をもつ妻において強いことが発見された。この結果は、職業などによる評価を得ることが難しい専業主婦にとって、自ら行う家族役割に対する夫からの評価やねぎらいがとりわけ重要になってくるという観点から解釈された。
