This is a step-by-step guide for digitizing and publishing insect specimen collection data through the Internet, with a brief review of the current situation of specimen data sharing networks both in Japan and worldwide. Nowadays, web-based database systems are becoming the standard method for publishing specimen collection data. The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is the most important global network, whereas the Science Museum Net (S-Net) is the museum specimen information network in Japan. During the data digitization process, we should focus on the data format adopted by these networks. A set of standard vocabulary, such as Darwin Core and Ecological Metadata Language, is available to describe data item names and metadata, respectively. We should also consider how to specify each record using identifiers in the Internet. A set of three codes, including the institution code, the collection code, and the specimen catalog number, is used as a standard identifier to specify a specimen in a museum collection. Quality control is the most time-consuming task in the digitization process. Functions of spreadsheet software and special tools for data cleansing can streamline the quality control process. Furthermore, we consider the terms of data usage. Recently, data releasing as open data has been recommended in the biodiversity field. The Creative Commons License is used as the standard license in GBIF and S-Net. Insect specimen collection data, written in standard format with proper metadata and published openly, can facilitate and promote data reuse and can be easily shared via networks such as GBIF and S-Net.

2013年12月27日に降水量の少ない瀬戸内海気候区の愛媛県西条市北方の,主として瀬戸内海上空で航空機により液体炭酸散布人工降雨実験を行った.雲頂高度2740 m,気温-13℃,風向西北西,雲底高度1070 m,気温-2℃,風向西北西,雲厚1670 mの下層域高度1370 mの積雲(気温-5℃)に液体炭酸を強度5.5 g/sで,11:23~11:48の内の約14分間,総量4.9 kg散布した.液体炭酸の散布によって,西条市役所・中心街で11:50頃にやや強めの降雨強度5 mm/h程度の降雨を5~10分間観測した.また,西条市消防本部では13:00(推測12:00直後)までに0.5 mmの降水を確認した.これらは人工降雨と推測された.液体炭酸散布後,11:30~11:50に積雲が西条市上空で急速に発達し短時間に降水となった後,背の高い積雲は局地的な人工降雨によって急速に衰退し,散布1時間後の12:30には山間域の雲も急激に消失した.西条市南部山間地では散布位置・時刻・風向から人工降雨の影響はなかったが,新居浜市南部山間域では人工降雨が顕著で降雨の終始を目視で確認できた.新居浜市消防本部の大生院,別子山では風向・風速・時刻等からそれぞれ0.5 mm,4.0 mmの人工降雨があったと推定された.四国中央市南部山間域のアメダス富郷では11:50~12:00に0.5 mmの降水を観測している.これは散布時刻・位置,風向西北西,風速15 m/s等を考慮して人工降雨と推測された.西条市・新居浜市・四国中央市付近では液体炭酸散布時の11:30頃にはすでに降水の可能性は減少した状況で,本来降らなくなっていた雲から人工降雨を起こした可能性が高い.徳島県三好市のアメダス池田の降雨0.5 mmとアメダス京上の降雨2.0 mmは,風向・風速,時刻等から人工降雨と判断された.その影響範囲は散布域の風下約80 kmにまで及び,中心線は東西の別子山-京上であった.2013年12月27日の西条市付近での人工降雨実験は成功したと判断される.

This report is the result of investigation of existing lighthouses in southern Sakhalin which were built during the Japanese period (1905∼1945). In southern Sakhalin, ten lighthouses including one beacon light were built during the Japanese period. Seven lighthouses were exist, six of them were in operation. These lighthouses are Lopatina (former Kenushi, 1918), Tonin (former Airo, 1935), Aniva (former Nakashiretoko, 1939), Lamanon (former Chirai, 1940), Slepikovsky (former Konotoro, 1943) and beacon light of the Rock of Danger (former Nijyouiwa, 1926). All of them were constructed by reinforced concrete. Moreover, houses for lighthouse keeper built in Japanese period are used now. We hope that these modern heritages for Japan and Russia will be preserved.

ヒトパピローマウイルス(HPV)は,子宮頚癌をはじめ各種扁平上皮癌組織にそのDNAが検出され,HPV感染による発癌機構の解明が進みつつある,諸外国では肛門管,直腸の扁平上皮癌にHPV-DNAを確認した報告がみられるが,本邦ではほとんどない。今回,HPV-DNAの検出に最も感度が高く,また型の同定も可能なPCR法により,日本人の肛門管,大腸の扁平上皮癌発癌におけるHPVの関与を研究した,方法:肛門管扁平上皮癌18例,その他の肛門管癌5例および大腸扁平上皮癌3例のパラフィン包埋標本より得られた検体のDNAをPCR法にて増幅,制限酵素にて処理後,消化パターンにより型判定をおこないHPV6,11,16,18,31,33,42,52,58について検討した.また肛門管扁平上皮癌症例で,HPV,p53に対する免疫組織化学的検討を行った.結果:肛門管扁平上皮癌症例のうち3例からHPV16,1例からHPV6のDNAが検出され,HPVによる発癌が示唆された。免疫染色では扁平上皮癌細胞の核が染色され,癌細胞核内のHPVの存在,mutantp53の蓄積が示された.欧米の成績と比較してHPVの種類には差はないものの,検出頻度は低かった.しかし,日本人の性習慣の変貌にともない,肛門管の扁平上皮癌の感染実態の変化が予想された。

文芸同人誌は,将来的な文学研究に資する重要な資料になり得るにも関わらず,体系的なアーカイブ化がなされていない.そこで筆者らは,文芸同人コミュニティの代表例である「文学フリマ」の作品を対象としたデータベースの研究開発に取り組んでいる.今回,開発に向けた事前調査として,データベース化のニーズに関するアンケートを実施した.本稿では,アンケート結果の中から定量的項目を抽出し,その集計結果を報告する.

Japanese National Railways, famous for its Kammon undersea tunnel, is now carrying out his next marine geological survey in three localities, i. e. Tsugaru, Akashi and Naruto Straits. We can have much more useful methods than in Kammon days, and so the secret of deeper, wider, and rapidswifting sea bottom is revealed step by step by tight combination of all possible survey works.

Hemiplegic patients often have reduced typing speed due to finger paralysis. Our motivation is to develop a keyboard that enables their typing speed to increase. For this purpose, we have developed a three-dimensional keyboard that reduces the distance that fingers move while typing. In this paper, our objective was to construct the finger model that combines the motion speed and muscle fatigue for design of keyboard that can be typed with fast motion speed and low muscle fatigue. In experiment, we measured the finger position using a magnetic 3D motion device and EMG when the participant pressed the proposed key. The experiment was carried out in a variety of the finger postures. We qualified the motion speed and muscle fatigue at each joint angle. Then, we weighted and combined two of the objective functions. We found out the Pareto solution and get an effective keyboard design straight. In the future, we verify the typing speed and finger muscle fatigue during typing the three-dimensional keyboard that is designed based on our finger model.

The situation regarding victims of sexual violence has dramatically changed in this decade in Japan. Mainly women activists who addressed the issue of victim's rights of sexual violence have made this change. The number of victims who seek legal remedies has increased. This movement has made it clear that our legal system has not worked well for giving them appropriate remedies.In the field of criminal law, rape is still determined under the influence of the patriarchal ideology. For example, rape is determined whether a victim made utmost resist against her offender. This way of determination can release rapists who know the victims, because in those cases it is more difficult for them to resist strongly. In addition, it is not likely for the victims of non-stranger rape to report the rape to the police. Victims still have faced the victim-blaming attitude of the society as a whole as well as a legal system itself. The above mentioned problem of the criminal law has also been seen in civil cases in which victims are demanding compensations from offenders. This happened particularly in sexual harassment lawsuits. The cases in which plaintiffs were defeated were determined by judges who relied on so called rape myth. Another problem of the civil cases is low amount of compensation, even though in some cases we can see relatively high amount of it.The root cause of the problem is that there is merely education of sexual discrimination in the legal department of universities and the Legal Research and Training Institute run by the Supreme Court. The change of the issue of women's rights, which happened internationally in this decade, has not yet reached those educational bodies for lawyers.

Several autoantibodies are associated with autoimmune encephalitis. Some of these antibodies are directed against intracellular neuronal antigens such as Hu and Ma2, which are strongly associated with paraneoplatic syndrome. In the past 10 years, various antibodies were identified that recognize neuronal cell–surface or synaptic proteins in patients associated with or without malignancy. Some of these antibodies are able to directly access receptors of neurotransmitters or channels and are responsible for causing neurological syndromes. Autoimmune encephalopathy with these antibodies generally responds to immunotherapies, such as steroids, plasmapheresis, and intravenous immunoglobulin as well as immunosuppressant and anti–cancer treatments in cases of paraneoplastic syndrome.Patients with N–methyl–D–aspartate (NMDA) receptor antibodies, which are the most common in autoimmune encephalopathy, often cause psychiatric manifestation, memory impairment, seizures, dyskinesia, catatonia, autonomic instability and respiratory failures. Although 86% of patients become worse at the stage of mRS5, almost 80% of all patients recover to the stage of less than mRS2 with immunomodulatory therapy and careful management for their general condition. Detection of those antibodies in both serum and CSF using cell–based assays is important for definite diagnosis. Availability of screening systems of antibodies and covering health insurance for immunomodulatory therapy for autoimmune encephalitis are highly expected.

This study reports the taxonomy, ecology and evolution of interstitial Ostracoda (Crustacea). Taxonomy and ecology of interstitial ostracods from river mouth were discussed. High salinity tolerance of the interstitial ostracods living river mouth was proven by field distribution and laboratory experiment. The author hypothesizes that ancestral marine interstitial species which has high salinity tolerance have been migrated to the river mouth environment where salinity varies drastically. From the mating experiment of Parapolycope spiralis, multi-step of pre-copulatory behavior was observed: (1) the male captures the female by a sucker on the antennula; (2) the male clasps and maintains the mating position using the endopodite claw and the exopodite of the antenna; (3) the male makes contact using the distal part of the upper lip; and (4) copulation takes place. The male upper lip shows species-specific and largely diverged morphologies in the Parapolycope species. The specific contact stimuli might be caused by various shapes of male upper lip and then females discriminate a favorable mating partner depending on these stimulations. The author concluded the species-specific morphologies of male upper lip have evolved by female mate choice. In addition, this study provides a brief overview of several taxonomic studies on marine ostracods.

Until recently, Actiniaria had been classified by the classification system organized by Carlgren in 1949. This classification was based on several traditional morphological features such as mesenterial arrangement, basal disc, acontium, and sphincter muscle. Although this classification system had been used for around 60 years, it was recently called into question by several studies utilizing molecular phylogenetic analyses. The most comprehensive phylogenetic analyses clarified that the Carlgren classification system did not reflect the actual phylogenetic relationships, and thus a new classification system from suborder to superfamily was established. At the same time, new common morphological features were proposed as the traditional morphological features of sea anemones in Carlgren’s classification system were proven to not be monophyletic. Here, we introduce the new classification system and propose Japanese names for all taxa higher than family.

An environmental learning program for fourth grader was carried out using benthic invertebrate in three spots of Asuka River. We analyzed the changes of class level and individual reaction level using 20 children's composition data. As a result, it was found that the class level has advanced reaction level from interest to understanding, from understanding to thinking as a whole. According to an analysis of the children’s reaction level individually, 8 children reach thinking, 18 children reach understanding, certain effects of this learning program are seen, and understanding of "relationship of space and creatures" was shown to be possible even in the development stage of fourth grader.
