Immunotherapy is a breakthrough in human cancer therapy and has become a major concern in veterinary oncology. However, in cats, many unclear points of the tumor microenvironment exist, including immune checkpoint molecules. A reason is that very few monoclonal antibodies have been proven to react with feline molecules. Therefore, this study investigated whether anti-human programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) monoclonal antibody, clone 28-8, which is currently commercially available, can also recognize feline PD-L1 by flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining. We confirmed that the antibody’s specificity by flow cytometry and immunoprecipitation using NIH3T3 cells transfected with feline PD-L1. Additionally, we revealed that PD-L1 was expressed on the surface of some feline cell lines by flow cytometry and clone 28-8 antibody unbound to the cells where feline PD-L1 was knocked out. Furthermore, IHC analysis revealed that PD-L1 was expressed in macrophages in the spleen and lymph nodes from healthy cats and mast cell tumor cells. Therefore, we indicated that the clone 28-8 antibody is a valuable tool in detecting feline PD-L1, and further analysis of tumor tissues is expected in the future.

近年、3Dスキャナを使用した形状のデジタル化と、そのデジタル化した形状データを活用したデザインが多く見られるようになった。しかし、頭部形状の3次元スキャナによる計測は毛髪が障害となり形状データが取得できない。また、最適な頭部形状を得ることができない問題がある。この問題に対して、パターン光投影方式とフォトグラメトリのどちらでも毛髪の影響を極力抑えて3Dスキャナによる頭部形状のデジタル化ができる計測用キャップの開発を行い良好な結果を得たので、開発プロセスと成果について述べる。

Canine lymphoma is the most common cancer in dogs and has a poor prognosis. We recently found that the endocytosis inhibitor dynasore suppresses the viability of human cancer cell lines, especially hematopoietic cancers, by inducing apoptosis. In the present study, we examined the anticancer effects of dynasore on five previously established canine lymphoma cell lines (CLBL-1, Ema, Nody-1, CLC, and GL-1). Dynasore suppressed cell viability in these canine lymphoma cell lines more effectively than in human cancer cell lines. It also induced apoptosis in CLBL-1 and Ema cells but not in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in healthy dogs or in Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells, suggesting that the ability of dynasore to induce apoptosis is cancer-specific. Furthermore, dynasore induced a DNA damage response in CLBL-1 and Ema cells, suggesting that it acts as a genotoxic agent in canine lymphoma cell lines. These findings suggest that endocytosis inhibitors may provide a new anticancer treatment for canine lymphoma.

症例は53歳男性。4年前より背部に疼痛、腫脹、色素沈着があり、排膿することがあった。慢性膿皮症の診断にて他院で外用薬の塗布と抗菌薬の内服による治療を行っていた。改善がないため当院皮膚科を受診し、手術治療の適応と判断され当科に紹介となった。初診時、背部に大きさ11cm×9cmの範囲で点在する茶色の色素沈着と膨隆を認めた。全身麻酔下に病変部を切除し、皮膚欠損に対しては分層植皮術を施行した。病理結果はTufted angioma(房状血管腫)であった。術後8か月、再発はなく経過は良好である。Tufted angiomaは比較的稀な血管内皮細胞性腫瘍である。報告では大半が幼少期に発症するが、成人での発症例もみられる。今回われわれは成人のTufted angiomaの1 例を経験したため、文献的考察を踏まえ報告する。

Tufted angioma is a benign vascular tumor in which immature endothelial and pericyte cells and lymphatic vascular endothelium grow. It manifests as a flat, painful erythema that gradually expands mainly on the trunk and extremities. Although tufted angiomas can also occur in other areas of the body and may be more locally invasive, they rarely occur intracranially. A 63-year-old man underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for a brain check-up 8 years before his visit to our institute, which detected a mass lesion with surrounding cerebral edema in the left frontal lobe. The patient was followed up with annual MRI analysis, which indicated slow tumor growth and gradual development of peritumoral edema. The tumor was treated by gross-total resection. Histological analysis showed a slightly dilated microvascular core surrounded by many capillary aggregates in the brain parenchyma. Immunohistochemical findings indicated that the vascular endothelial cells were positive for CD34 and Brahma-related gene-1 and were surrounded by smooth muscle actin-positive pericytes. These findings were consistent with tufted angioma. Intracranial tufted angioma is uncommon, but it should be considered in the differential diagnosis for intracranial tumorous lesions. Long-term follow-up is necessary to unravel the natural history of the disease.

It was Late Tani (1905) who recorded scientifically Euterpnosia chibensis, one of the remarkable cicadas in Japan. She gave a new Japanese name "Himé-haruzemi", because it looked like "Haruzemi" Terpnosia vacua but somewhat smaller and more graceful. The scientific name, however, was not clear and it was described as Gn? sp?. In 1917, over ten years had passed since then, Dr. S. Matsumura announced that it was a new genus and species, Euterpnosia chibensis, appointing "Mt. Yawata in the Prov. Chiba" as the type locality. (note: "Mt. Yawata" is not right; it should be called Hachiman-yama Hill.) He distinguished Euterpnosia chibensis from other allied genera, that is, Kamalata, Terpnosia, Rustia, etc. because of the characteristic wart-like tubercule on both sides of the male's fourth abdominal segment. It may as well be regarded that there is no doubt today about the scientific name of this species.Genus Euterpnosia is speciated into many species in Formosa today, and among all the species of the genus Euterpnosia, Euterpnosia chibensis is distributed most northerly. Euterpnosia chibensis is distributed from Ryukyu up to the Mainland, and it is of so-called the Oriental element and the limit of its coming up to north is, to some extent, similar to the one of Papilio helenus nicconicolens, Cryptotympana japonensis, etc. The areas of generation of this cicada are discontinuous in the Mainland, the period of lively singing of the imago is short and it has a queer habit of singing in chorus noisily by great number. It has also a characteristic shape and is one of the rare cicadas of Japan; There is even a folklore on this species at Kataniwa in Ibaraki Pref. as stated below."Once upon a time there was a rich saké-brewer living close to the Hachiman Shrine. Like other rich people, great misers were they, especially the old wife, who was so stingy that she thought nothing of giving the other some pain if it was for the sake of money. One summer evening, an old priest came and begged her a meal. But the woman, perceiving his poor clothers, said to him very rudely; "You beggar priest, don't approach. If I have any food to eat, I would rather take it myself than give it to a stranger like you. You'd better drink water only, and say your beads. Go away right now."The priest answered, "Well, I see you will not spare me a meal though you have plenty at hand, but have used such abusive languages at me, telling me to live only on water and on beads. Then, woman, you live on water and take body of a cicada." Thus saying aloud, the priest pointed to an old big pasania which stood in the grounds of the Hachiman Shrine.And lo! the old woman disappeared at that instant, and thousands of cicadas were found instead sitting on the old tree. Now it is said that the priest was indeed His Worship Kobo in disguise who was then staying at the Tokuzoji Temple."I planned in summer, since 1952, to visit in order the northern and east-northern limits of this species and also other places of generation of this species in Kantô area, and could visit five of them. This is about the observation I made then. The known homes of this species in Niigata, Ibaraki and Chiba prefectures are as follows. At the place with a notemark it is appointed as a natural monument and preserved. There would be no instances in the foreign countries of cicada's being appointed as a national natural monument.

症例は50歳,女性.検診で上部消化管造影検査施行後7日目に,急激な腹痛が出現した.前医に緊急入院となったが,排便なく,貧血の進行も認めたため,当院へ転院となった.腹部CT検査で,S状結腸周囲に腹腔内遊離ガス像と,腸管外へのバリウムの漏出を認めた.また,骨盤底には強いアーチファクトを引く巨大なバリウム陰影を認めた.下部消化管穿孔疑いにて,同日緊急手術を施行した.術中所見では,S状結腸の腸間膜側へ穿孔を起こしており,同部では壊死性の変化を伴っていた.また,直腸内には鶏卵大の硬い異物を触知した.ハルトマン手術,腹腔ドレナージを施行した.直腸内異物を用手的に肛門から排出させると,バリウム塊であった.標本上は,34mm大の穿孔部を認めた以外,憩室や腫瘍性病変は指摘できなかった.バリウムによる上部消化管造影検査後の大腸穿孔はまれであるが,重篤な転帰をとる場合もあるため,若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する.

睡眠は睡眠ポリグラフィによりレム睡眠とノンレム睡眠に分類される。睡眠-覚醒リズムは概日リズム機構とホメオスタシス機構の2本立てでコントロールされている。その調節にあたっては,視床下部前部に睡眠の,後部に覚醒の中枢があり,GABA(γ-aminobutyric acid),ヒスタミン,オレキシン,アセチルコリン,ノルアドレナリン,セロトニンなどの神経伝達物質とアデノシンが関与している。免疫-内分泌系も睡眠調節に関わっており,炎症性サイトカインと抗炎症性サイトカインはそれぞれノンレム睡眠を促進,抑制する。重症患者の睡眠の特徴は,睡眠潜時の延長,睡眠効率の低下,徐波睡眠とレム睡眠の減少,睡眠の断片化などである。環境要因も含めたICUでの治療・ケア,基礎疾患,重篤な病態が睡眠障害を引き起こす。このような睡眠障害はICU環境とケアの改善により患者の睡眠に関する満足度が上がり,せん妄の発症率が低下することが報告されている。

In 1985 the European Commission produced its White Paper to the European Council setting out its programme for the completion of the internal or single market in the European Community by the end of 1992. This programme consisted of some 300 legislative measures needed to guarantee the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital within the Community. The economic integration was truly the most advanced in the world and epoch-making in the history of the European Community/Union. The European Council agreed to the programme and decided to revise the EEC Treaty by the Single European Act, which came into force in July 1987. Before the market integration, the Community economy stagnated for more than five years due to lacking competitiveness vis-à-vis the United States and Japan. The single market integration stimulated international oligopolistic competition within the Community and beyond. The economic growth of the Community rose to more than 3% for three years from 1988 on. The economic structure of the Community was renewed and became much more competitive than before. The single market became a fundamental driving force of the monetary union with the EMS. In the 21st century, it contained Central and Eastern European countries, developing the pan-European production networks. After the world economic crisis, when the demand-side stimulation of the economic growth in the European Union has been narrowly limited, the re-launch of the single market will be an effective measure to revitalize the economy. On the basis of the Monti Report of 2010, the Union is going towards the introduction of the European Market Act, which will be agreed until the end of 2012 according to today’s plan of the European Commission. The first single market integration, which was combined with the name of Jacques Delores, had a strategy to move oligopolistic giant companies of the Community. The second generation of the single market integration gives weight to socio-political legitimacy of the single market and seems to move consumers, workers or people of peripheral regions who could not realize benefits of the single market. At the same time, it aims to extract economic benefits from digital information technologies or other recent technical innovations. The single market is about credibility for market players including consumers etc. on the basis of hard competence and the Community method. If done properly, it can turn into a lever for higher growth in the EU following the crisis.

体育授業のリズムダンスは、恥ずかしさが大きな原因で曲調に合わせて自由にノリを楽しむことができない。恥ずかしさの一番の原因は、他者の視線であり、見られている身体を意識することによりノレない、踊れない状態になると考えられる。体育館を暗くして他者からの視線を軽減すると学習者の身体はどのように変容するだろうか。また、ミラーボールを使って非日常を演出すると学習者の身体はどのように変容するだろうか。体育館を暗くしただけでもノリやすい環境になることが分かったとともに、ミラーボールを使って非日常を演出することで、さらにノリやすい環境を提供することができることが明らかになった。

The remediation effects of a permeable reactive barrier (PRB) using sulfur-limestone are investigated. The results show that highly concentrated NO3− (133-180 mg/L) in shallow groundwater decreased below the detection limit within the PRB. This phenomenon was maintained for approximately 300 days; therefore, the remediation effects within the PRB and its durability are demonstrated. It is suggested that the remediation effects due to the PRB are not solely restricted to the area within the barrier, because the decrease in NO3− extended 4.0 m downstream. Furthermore, the results of ORPSHE, δ15N, and isotopic fractionation factor (ɛ) indicate that a reductive condition forms within the PRB, where sulfur-oxidizing denitrifying bacterium preferentially exists. Before installing the PRB, three-dimensional (3-D) groundwater flow systems around the study site and detailed hydrogeological setting should be investigated first.

This study clarifies the following, about the building work formation belonging to the Public Colliery Company in Hokkaido, Meiji era. This paper consists of two points. (1)Establishment and process of transition as building work formation. (2)As compared with the formation of the Kaitakushi in Sapporo and Hakodate,which have been studied. From study of the documents in Hokkaido-ritu Monjokan and Hokkaido University Library , I found the following. (1)The first formation is Teturo-ka, that was established in 1878(Meiji 11), its system had been existing during the Public Office period. (2)The building work formation of the Public Colliery Company was independence from the Industrial Office of the central government in Sapporo and the Hakodate branch office .The number of technical experts belonging to the Coal Mine Railway Office was much the same as the Industrial Office , in 1886(Meiji 19).

代表的なエンジニアリング・プラスチックであるポリカーボネート (PC) は衝撃強度, 耐熱性などに優れた透明材料として広く利用されている有用な材料であり, 主にビスフェノールA (bis-A) とホスゲンとの重縮合により工業的に生産されている. さらなる生産コストの低減とホスゲン使用による潜在的危険性の回避を目的として, Pd触媒存在下一酸化炭素を用いる酸化的カルボニル化反応に基づくビスフェノールAからのポリカーボネート一段合成法の開発を行った. 最初にフェノールから炭酸ジフェニルへの酸化的カルボニル化反応をモデル反応として, 新たにPd錯体触媒系をデザインした結果, 従来の触媒系で大量に必要であったアンモニウムハライドが不要になるPd-Sn錯体触媒系を見いだした. また, アンモニウムハライドは必要ではあるが極めて高活性な触媒としてPd複核錯体, Pd-ジイミン錯体, Pd-ビピリジル錯体触媒系を見いだし, さらにPd錯体触媒系の固定化についても検討した. これらのPd錯体触媒系を目的のビスフェノールAからのポリカーボネート一段合成法に適用したところ, 6, 6'位に置換基を有する2, 2'-ビピリジルを配位子とするPd錯体を用いることにより, 従来の触媒系を用いた場合を大きく上回る数平均分子量5600, 重量平均分子量12900のポリカーボネートを, 高収率で得ることが可能となった.

日本の世代間所得移動と貧困の世代間連鎖に関する研究では, 成育家庭の経済状態から始まる影響の経路そして成育家庭の貧困から始まる地位の経路が, 貧富の世代間再生産傾向を作りだすことに焦点をあてている. しかし, 親の学歴や職業など他の成育家庭要因にくらべて, 成育家庭の経済状態から始まる影響経路が子世代の経済的格差を作りだすのかは, 検証されるべき問題である. その検証を, 全国調査データをもちいて, 経済状態を家計水準として測定し, 無職を対象に含めて行った. 分析結果は, 成育家庭の経済状態を始点とする影響経路だけが, 子世代の経済的格差を作りだす顕著な経路とはいえないことを示した. 子世代の経済的格差を作りだす主要な影響経路は, 成育家庭の経済状態, 親の学歴と職業がそれぞれ本人学歴に影響し, その本人学歴から離学後職業へ, 離学後職業から現職へ, そして現職から本人の経済状態へとつながる連鎖的影響経路だった. 男性での貧困に到達しやすい地位経路は, 成育家庭の貧困だけでなく親の低学歴からも始まっていた. しかし, 女性では現職から本人の経済状態への影響が男性ほど強くないため, 明確な地位経路はなかった.
