本研究では、テキストを解釈し批評する行為を科学的にとらえるためのケーススタディとして、著名な文芸批評家個人の批評テキストを網羅的に収集し、計量的な分析を行った。テキスト中の評価的語彙の共起情報の分析からは、「新しさ」「美しさ」「深さ」などが重要であることが分かった。また、テキスト中の人名から、批評家が影響を強く受けている作家・思想家を分析し、テキストの評価軸となる思想的な背景を抽出することができた。

本論は,鹿児島県奄美大島の瀬戸内町嘉鉄において,Iターン者の価値観と集落の機能に注目し,Iターン者を取り入れた集落の維持形態を明らかにした.1990年代末以降,嘉鉄には大都市圏からの移住者が継続的に流入している.彼らは島内の都市的地域を避け,選択的に嘉鉄に居住する.Iターン者が嘉鉄に住居を確保するには,住宅所有者の社会的ネットワークに参加することが求められる.また移住前,住民は会合を開き,移住希望者に対し集落行事への参加を確認する.閉鎖的な住宅市場と集落行事に関する合意形成は,地域社会に適合する人材を選別する役割を果たす.移住後,集落行事は従前の住民がIターン者を受け入れる場所となる.非都市的生活を希求するIターン者と彼らを選別して受け入れる集落の機能が結びつき,嘉鉄ではIターン者を空間的・社会的に取り入れた集落維持が行われている.本論は,限界集落論を反証する事例として位置づけられる.

Stratosphere–troposphere coupling is investigated in relation to middle atmospheric subtropical jet (MASTJ) variations in boreal winter. An exceptional strengthening of the MASTJ occurred in association with a sudden equatorward shift of the stratospheric polar night jet (PNJ) in early December 2011. This abrupt transformation of the MASTJ and PNJ had no apparent relation to the upward propagation of planetary waves from the troposphere. The impact of this stratospheric event penetrated into the troposphere in two regions: in the northern polar region and the tropics. Due to the strong MASTJ, planetary waves at higher latitudes were deflected and trapped in the northern polar region. Trapping of the planetary waves resulted in amplification of zonal wave number 1 component, which appeared in the troposphere as the development of a trough over the Atlantic sector and a ridge over the Eurasian sector. A strong MASTJ also suppressed the equatorward propagation of planetary waves, which resulted in weaker tropical stratospheric upwelling and produced anomalous warming in the tropical stratosphere. In the tropical tropopause layer (TTL), however, sublimation of ice clouds kept the temperature change minor. In the troposphere, an abrupt termination of a Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO) event occurred following the static stability increase in the TTL. This termination suggests that the stratospheric event affected the convective episode in the troposphere.

The impact of stratospheric sudden warming event in September 2007 on the tropics was investigated based on satellite data (CALIOP, MLS and TRMM PR). Equatorial temperature and water vapor at 100 hPa decreased by about 1 K and 1 ppmv within 10 days, respectively. Changes in tropical clouds are observed together with the occurrence of the SSW as i) frequent formation of higher-level cirrus clouds over the Maritime Continent, to where water vapor was transported from Asian Monsoon and where the lowest temperature occurred, ii) intensification of deep convective activity in the TTL over African continent, and iii) southward shift of the convective clouds over South American continent.

In Japan, local legislators often seem inactive and redundant. In fact, they introduce much fewer bills than local governors. However, why don't these local legislators devote themselves to legislative activities, especially introduction of bills?   Using the panel data of 47 Japanese prefectural assemblies from 1967 to 2006, this study investigates the determinants of bill introduction by local legislators. We mainly focus on the effect of political institutions: executive-legislative relations, parliamentary rules, and central-local relations via the party system. The results of Poisson and a negative binominal regression model with unconditional fixed effects show that parliamentary factions tend to introduce more bills in following situations: while opposing the governor, when the factions are large enough to introduce bills on their own, and when they don't have a close connection with the central government via the party system. These results imply that the institutional restrictions of local legislatures cause their legislators to be inactive in introducing bills.

<p>This paper is concerned with nonlinear analysis of a 1-d.o.f. vertical hopping robot, composed of its body, foot and a DC motor with crank mechanism. We show that its hopping motion under a constant voltage converges into a stable limit cycle, through physical experiments and numerical simulations. We then clarify this stabilization mechanism based on a simplified mathematical model, by showing that the negative torque-velocity correlation (weakness) of DC motors plays as a feedback law for stabilization. We also show that the limit cycles exhibit period-doubling bifurcation as the applied voltage increases, and the corresponding bifurcation diagram is affected by the weakness parameter of the DC motor.</p>

人間の創造性こそが都市経済の今後の担い手であるとする創造都市論において、創造人材とされるクリエイティブクラス以外の市民の潜在力については、ほとんど注目されて来なかった。本研究は、都心でのアートと趣味縁をテーマとした市民有志による活動の場が、クリエイティブクラス以外の市民層が各自の潜在的な創造力を発現させる契機となっている事例に着目し、敷田の「ハーフシフト」概念を応用しながら、その機制(メカニズム)について事例からの分析を試みる。

背景:1993 年より促進された社会的公正の理論の作業療法への適応と,その後概念化された作業的公正について,どちらも日本で広まりつつあるが,文献は少なく,日本での作業的公正に関する概念は議論途上である. 目的:国外の作業療法士が作業的公正という概念のもと行なっている調査研究を経年的に調べ介入と規範の具体例と傾向を明らかにすること. 方法:PubMed にてOccupational Justice で検索した.検索された論文のうち調査研究を分析対象とし,作業的公正,不公正の実例を抜き出した.さらに調査研究の目的・方法・OT の介入や規範についてレビューマトリックスを用いてまとめた. 結果と考察:作業的公正,作業的不公正の実例は日本の作業療法で対象とならない事例が多かった.作業的公正についての調査研究で述べられた作業療法士の規範をまとめると,対象者個人の作業を通した社会参加の支援に加え,作業療法士の社会への関わりの必要性が示された.国外文献の調査と,それらを障害の社会モデルの視点を取り入れて慎重かつ丁寧に分析すること,そして国内での発展が望まれる.

東北地方太平洋岸域の海岸林は東日本大震災で大きな被害を受け、現在、かつてない規模で山砂の搬入と盛土を伴う海岸防災林再生事業が進められている。生物多様性の劣化が懸念されるが、復旧事業直後の生物多様性に関する研究は乏しい。本研究では松川浦に面した砂洲である福島県相馬市磯部大洲において、施工直後の生育基盤盛土上の植物相と植生を調査した。造成完了から 3年以内で、植樹した翌年の生育基盤盛土上は、植被率が低く裸地に近い相観で、出現率が高かった植物の多くは一般に二次遷移の初期に出現するとされる夏緑性一年草や夏緑性多年草であった。木本は少なく高木性種はクロマツだけであり、海岸生植物は 3種類で被度も低かった。帰化植物は侵略的外来生物を含め 23種類(帰化率約 40%)であったが、被度は低かった。出現した維管束植物 58種類には震災前から林内や路傍で確認されていた種類が多く、生育基盤盛土の材料は砂岩由来で散布体に乏しいと推測されることから、これらは近隣から侵入したものが多いと思われた。本研究の対象地は限られたものであり、広大な復旧事業地の全域にわたる生物多様性の研究と知見の集積が望まれる。

太田朋子先生 (以下敬称略) は、1967年に木村資生の助手として国立遺伝学研究所に赴任された。 直後の1968年に、木村が「分子進化の中立説」を発表。太田は木村の共同研究者として中立説の洗練に努める一方で、自らの独自の説として「分子進化のほぼ中立説」を Nature誌に発表した (1973年)。その後も研究を続け、2002年には全米科学アカデミー外国人会員に選ばれている。 本インタビューは定松淳と瀧川裕貴が総合研究大学院大学の葉山高等研究センタープロジェクト「人間と科学」の課題「大学共同利用機関の成立に関する歴史資料の蒐集と我が国における巨大科学の成立史に関する研究(大学共同利用機関の歴史とアーカイブズ)」の一環として企画・実行した。 インタビューの狙いは二つある。第一に、「分子進化の中立説」および「ほぼ中立説」という生物学上きわめて重要な業績の成立過程を、その社会的背景や研究者の個人史とも関連させつつ、検討すること、そして第二に、共同利用機関としての国立遺伝学研究所の当時の状況および変遷を明らかにすること、である。 インタビューにおいては、太田と木村の間に存在する遺伝学理論に対する立場の違いや60年代後半から70年代にかけての遺伝研におけるインフォーマルな研究環境が明らかになった他、多くの興味深いエピソードが語られている。
