本論文では隠れマルコフモデル(Hidden Markov Model; HMM) に基づく英語歌声合成について述べる.HMM歌声合成システムは,学習用の歌声データに基づいて,あらかじめスペクトル,基本周波数,ビブラートをHMMにより同時にモデル化しておき,合成時には合成したい歌声の楽譜に合わせてHMMを連結し,歌声を生成する.これまでに,日本語の楽譜から歌声を合成するシステムが提案され,一般ユーザによる楽曲作成の際のボーカルとして利用されてきている.本論文ではこのシステムを,英語の歌声を合成できるように拡張するために,英語歌声合成のコンテクストを定義し,楽譜の音符と実際の発音を対応付ける手法を提案する.客観・主観評価実験により効果を確認し,また,日本語歌声合成との比較実験も行う.

This thesis explores the relation between the lives of high-school students and their course consideration by conducting the "high-school students' questionnaire survey." In particular, we comprehensively surveyed the social networks of high-school students. Our subsequent analysis clarified the following three points: (1) Social networks of high-school students comprise their schoolmates and peers; these networks are characterized by fewer interpersonal relationships, as compared to those of adults. However, there are large individual variations in these networks. (2) High-school students are content with their interpersonal relationships among the group that they belong to; thus, interpersonal relationships with individuals outside their group are rare. (3) Our statistical analysis assumes that "the high-school students' course consideration" is an explained variable. Therefore, we verify that the quality of a social network has greater influential power on course consideration than its extent. Thus, it can be interpreted that the improvement in course consideration arising from an interaction with a "different person" is greater than that arising from an interaction with a "similar person."

In "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" the resolution Stephen immediately put into execution is to use silence, exile, and cunning. He did not report how to use his weapon in his later life. A Joycean calls it Joyce's invented three words. This is a very stereotyped expression. Every Irish knows the three words. The Irish eventful past was an Irish storehouse of unforgetable wounded memories which so much enriched her days of her hard routine. Through the true meaning of Irish wakes and American wakes we find exiles became a part of their daily consciousness. The three words are not only Stephen's weapon, but the Irish one.

近年の microRNA (miRNA) の発見と,血中に miRNA が安定に存在しているという知見は,バイオマーカーとしての miRNA の可能性を示した.さらに最近,血中に分泌された miRNA が他所にて遺伝子発現を抑制しうると報告されるに及び,従来のホルモンやサイトカインを中心とした細胞間情報伝達の概念は大きく変更を余儀なくされる可能性がある.そこで本総説では,血中 miRNA の種類や機能について概説し,バイオマーカーとしての miRNA に関する最新の知見をまとめ,身体運動の影響を含めたストレス負荷条件における変化や予測される機能に関して概説する.

目的 : 財政破綻を機に医療資源の縮小を伴う医療の合理化に直面した住民の思いと, 新たな医療体制への住民の考え方を明らかにし, 医療の合理化において考慮すべき要素を探索する.方法 : 自治体の財政破綻に直面したX市の住民を対象に, 医療の合理化に対する思いと今後の医療のあり方への考え方の2点を質問し, 質的な分析を行った.結果 : 医療資源縮小を伴う医療の合理化への住民の思いと, 新たな医療体制への住民の考え方として「医療の合理化の進め方」, 「地域医療のあり方」, 「行政, 医療者の姿勢」の3つのテーマが抽出された.結論 : 医療の合理化おいて, 行政や医療機関が合理化の過程および内容に関して住民の意見を受け止め, 地域の歴史的背景や住民の心情を理解することが重要である.

This article is intended to provide an overview of the methodological issues in the use of statistical tests in educational and psychological research. First, an exposition is made of those basic aspects of the theories which are not covered in typical applied statistics textbooks and which are often misunderstood. Then such recent efforts to improve the use of statistical tests as power analysis and effect-size estimation are summarized. The fainal section of the article discusses issues concerning the assumptions and interpretations of statistical tests, generalization of research results, and statistics education for prospective researchers.

本研究の骨格として経済政策に関するアンケート調査を計6回実施した。蓄積されたパネル・データは各研究分担者の専門の観点から実証分析の対象となり,いくつかの重要な発見がなされた。多岐にわたる研究成果のうち,とりわけ幸福度に関する知見が注目される。すなわち,本調査の結果によると消費税に対する反応パターンによって幸福度が異なるらしいのである。幸福な人ほど消費税増税に無頓着で消費行動を変えず,幸福でない人ほど消費税増税にネガティブに反応する。つまり,消費税の影響も心の状態次第ということになる。

着衣量,温冷感,快適感の季節的変化を一年を通して,実験的に検討した。実験は人工気候室で行った。実験条件は,気温は,16℃,20℃,24℃,28℃,32℃の5段階,相対湿度は50%一定,気流は静穏気流,平均放射温度は気温と等しくした。被験者は,健康な青年女子71名を採用し,通常の着衣で椅座安静状態で60分間実験条件に暴露し,着衣量は実験後算出した。温冷感申告を9段階で,快適感申告を7段階で受けた。実験は1986年10月から翌年の8月にかけて7期行った。その結果,以下のことが明らかになった。1)被験者の着用していた平均着衣は冬期は0.84clo,夏期は0.4cloであった。2)温熱的中性申告の得られた温度は冬期には22℃で夏期には28℃であった。3)快適側の申告した時の温度は冬期は20℃〜28℃,夏期は22℃〜30℃で,その時冬期は「暖かい」と申告し,夏期は「涼しい」と申告した。
