The rapid increase in the recording density of magnetic disk drives has required decreasing the flying height of magnetic head sliders to approximately 10nm. Under such low flying height conditions, however, the heat generated by the high-frequency current in the writer coils and the rise in the ambient temperature both cause local protrusion of head elements. Such protrusion reduces the flying height below the design value, thus reducing the safety margin for head/disk interference. To analyze this problem, the heat transfer in the head slider, the thermal deformation of the head, and the flying height changes of the slider due to the deformation were numerically simulated. The parameter study showed that short pole and shields cause a smaller ambient-temperature-induced protrusion but a larger write-current-induced protrusion, i.e., a trade-off relationship exists.

Today's head/disk interface design has a wide flying height distribution due to manufacturing tolerances, environmental variations, and write-induced thermal protrusion. To reduce the magnetic spacing loss due to these effects, we have developed an active head slider with nano-thermal actuator. The magnetic spacing of these sliders can be controlled in-situ during operation of the drive. After simulating the heat transfer in the slider and resulting thermal deformation of the air-bearing surface, we fabricated a thermal actuator by thin film processing. The evaluation by a read/write tester showed a linear reduction in magnetic height as electric power was applied to the actuator. The actuator's stroke was 2.5nm per 50mW with time constant of 1 msec. We found no significant impact to the reliability of the read element.

筆者は,長年にわたり,中東の地域的特質を明らかにするための研究を行ってきた。その過程で,筆者がいだいた着想と見解について検討・調査をかさね,その確かさをしだいに確信するようになった。それは,中東人にとってのアイデンティティー複合という注目すべき現象こそ,その地域の社会・文化を全体的に把握するためのキーワードであり,錯綜する現実を解明する糸口だということであった。研究作業の過程において,知見・発見の成果の輪郭を説明する目的で,多数の図が作成された。本稿は,それらの図のうちより選び出したいくつかを,中東の政治文化ならびに中東に対する文明戦略を考察することへと導く教育のために教材として活用することを提案しようとするものである。この図解による教育スキームの検討と解説の作業を通じて,以下の結論が導きだされた。すなわち,中東研究の専門家は世界研究(グローバル・スタディーズ)の一般に通暁しなければならず,また世界研究のジェネラリストは中東に関する十分な知識を要求される,ということである。すべての学生に中東の視点から世界を理解する基礎訓練を施すことには,特別の意義が認められなければならない。またその場合,中東問題そのものの性質のために,多専門的アプローチへの志向が重要な意味をもつのである。図解教材においてとりあげられる問題は,以下のとおりである。01 19世紀のオリエント概念 02「冷戦」下の中東概念 03 中東と中央アジアの連結の新段階 04 地域としての中東を超えた中東問題 05 ポスト冷戦期の世界=「世界の中東化」06 十字軍 07 東方問題 08 西欧の発明としての「二つの世界」論と「モザイク社会」論 09〜14 パレスチナ問題 15 ヨーロッパ中心主義の鋳造 16 中東における「族」的結合の可変的形態 17 中東の宗教・宗派一覧 18 n回繰り返された神の啓示 19 アイデンティティー複合の三つのパターン 20 個人の内面のイメージ 21〜25 n地域 26 社会契約局面1 27 社会契約局面2 28 ジハード 29 イスラーム経済論における経済活動 30 市民社会の推進力 31 世界史における近代化過程 32 B.ルイスが示唆する理解モデル 33〜36 イスラーム文明のネットワーク化過程のもとでの近代化 37 ユーラシアの諸文明 38〜39 文明戦略マップ

Working in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), NPO Global Sports Alliance (GSA) is the world's first international NPO working to promote environmental awareness and action through sport. Among GSA and UNEP's collaboration projects is the Nature and Sports Camps (Dream Camps), which aim to give sporting equipment and professional training to children in developing countries that would not ordinarily be given such a sporting chance'. Started in 2001, numerous events in tennis, football, volleyball, basketball, swimming and so on are held throughout the year in and around Nairobi, Kenya, which is also where UNEP head office is located. As well as professional coaching provided by international volunteer coaches and Kenyan sports associations, education on environmental and social issues, such as water, public hygiene, pollution, health and HIV/AIDS, is provided by UNEP. Participants in the program receive sports training, discover new skills, learn about the environment and take part in local clean ups in the hope of promoting not just sporting excellence but nurturing new community leaders. Providing sports training and education, the Nature and Sports Camps carry a reputation as the biggest and most successful camps of their kind in East and Central Africa. As a member of GSA's staff, I flew to Nairobi and participated in the Camps in August 2005 as a volunteer tennis coach. I would like to report on the month I spent in Kenya, staying at the Sadili Oval Sports Club, where some of the camps took place.

女子学生の社会的スキルについて,ソーシャルスキル尺度,ノンバーバルスキル尺度を用いて看護学科1年次,2年次生,教育学部1年次生,保育学科1年次生の4グループを比較した。各グループ間に有意差は認めなかった。全体について,社会的スキルと自尊感情とセルフモニタリングの関連をみた。その結果,自尊感情およびセルフモニタリング得点が高い群は低い群よりソーシャルスキル得点は有意に高かった。しかしノンバーバルスキルに関しては,有意な差はなかった。対人関係技能・能力を向上させる教育を考えていく上で,社会的スキルを高めていくだけでなく,自尊感情やセルフモニタリングも高める必要があることが示唆された。

バルク吸収層を有する電気吸収型導波路の光誘起屈折率変化による相互位相延長を用いた、偏光遅延干渉型one-armマッハ・ツェンダ干渉計波長変換装置によるCバンド内波長変換実験を10Gbps疑似ランダムパタンで行った。変換光バルスの良好なアイ開口とエラーフリー動作が確認され、波長変換による信号品質の大きな劣化は生じていないことがわかった。ビットエラーレート10-9でのパワペナルティは1.8dBであった。

40インチを超かる高精細AC-PDPの開発を行っている。一般にPDPの解像度を上げると維持電極幅が狭くなるため、輝度が減少する。輝度が減少しないように維持電極幅を広くすると隣接ラインのとの距離が狭まり、隣接ラインとの間で放電が生じ、維持電圧マージンが急激に減少する。我々は、この現象が維持電圧バルスの波形条件に強く依存していることを見出し、維持電圧パルスを制御することによって、隣接ラインとの誤放電を防いだ。

カルプロパミド(ウィン^[○!R])はP. oryzaeやV. dahliaeなどの平面培養やいもち病菌の振とう培養での菌の色素沈着を強く抑制した.そしてそれらの野生株の培養物の抽出によって白色の結晶が単離された.薄層クロマトRf 0.36付近のスポットから得られた白色結晶の化学分析値は既に報告されているシタロンのデータとよく一致した.カルプロパミド10μg/mlを処理したそれらの培養物中には多量のシタロンと少量のバーメロンが蓄積したが, 2-ハイドロキシジュグロンは検出されなかった.P. oryzaeのアルビノ変異株(P_2-alb)の振とう培養にシタロンを加えると速やかに代謝され, その培養は薄い褐色となった.しかしその培養にあらかじめカルプロパミドを加えるとシタロンはあまり代謝されないで培地中に残った.P. oryzaeのアルビノ変異株(P_2-alb)の平面培養の菌叢先端に局所処理したシタロンとバーメロンは黒色色素に変換されたがその着色はカルプロパミドによって阻害された.これらの試験結果はカルプロパミドが菌類メラニン生合成においてシタロン及びバーメロンの脱水反応を阻害することを示唆している.

Ta_2N陽極酸化膜キャパシタの有する高耐熱な特徴が,酸化膜厚を薄くした際にどの程度まで維持できるかを明らかにするため,化成電圧を低減させて作製したキャパシタのtanδ,容量温度係数および漏れ電流特性に及ぼす熱処理温度の増加の影響を検討し以下の知見を得た.80V程度まで化成電圧を低減させた陽極酸化膜キャパシタでも,熱処理温度が400℃までの範囲であればtanδと容量温度係数に熱劣化は生じない.漏れ電流特性についても,化成電圧を低減させても定性的に同様な傾向を示し,電気伝導機構に変化はない.一方,80V化成したこのTa_2N陽極酸化膜キャパシタの漏れ電流特性は,熱処理温度300℃まではほとんど変化しないが,350℃では急増する.しかしながら,同じ静電容量が得られる160V化成したTa陽極酸化膜キャパシタと比較すると,この80V化成したTa_2N陽極酸化膜キャパシタは,tanδ,容量温度係数,漏れ電流のいずれの点でも耐熱性が大幅に改善される.以上のことにより,Ta_2N化合物の利用は酸化膜を薄くしても耐熱性を保持するうえで極めて有効な方策となることを明らかにした.

統計を用いた形態素解析ではn-gramモデルやHMM モデルがよく使用され, 英語においては高い精度て解析が行われている。しかし, 単語の区切りを必要とする日本語に, 単語の区切りを必要としない英語のモデルをそのまま適用するのには問題がある。本研究では, タグ付きコーパスから求められた確率をそのまま使用するのではなく, 解析結果がコーパズの確率に近付くようにトレーニングを行うことにより, 解析精度を向上させることを目的とする。

本論文は、GLR法における圧縮共有の効率を改善する手法を提案する。GLR法では、圧縮共有統語森により解析の高速化をはかつているが、冨田によるGLR法の実誇では、アクションのコンフリクトによって枝分かれした複数のスタックの間で解析のタイミングがずれるために、共有できるシンボルの生成のタイミングもずれることがある。このため、スタックの完全な圧縮共有ができているとは限らず、同じ解析動作が重複して行なわれたり、完全な圧縮共有統語森が生成できないこともある。本論文で提案するGLRパーズの手法では、枝分かれしたスタックの間での解析のタイミングを制御し、スタックの共有化のタイミングを早め、完全な圧縮共有統語森を作成することができる。これにより、解析の高速化と使用メモリ空間の削減を同時に実現できる。In this paper we propose a method to improve efficiency of GLR parsing. Tomita's GLR implementation uses two data structures, graph-structured stack and packed-shared parse forest. Both structures help us avoid applying same parsing action repeatedly to save parsing time and memory space. However, his implementation misses a chance to share data structures. To the contrary, our method not only keeps the advantage of Tomita's implementation but also allows data structures to be completely shared. Experiments show our method exceeds in both time and space efficiency compared to Tomita's method.

A*アルゴリズムとIDA*アルゴリズムは、最適解を保証しながら、パズルを解くことができる探索アルゴリズムである。本論文では、これらのアルゴリズムをスーパーパズに適用し、性能比較を行う。他のパズルにおける先行研究では、IDA*の方がA*よりも優れたアルゴリズムであることが知られている。本論文の実験では、先行研究の結果とは異なり、スーパーパズの探索空間の性質のために、A*の方がIDA*よりも高速に解答できることを示す。The A* and IDA* algorithms are the search techniques that can solve puzzles, while always guaranteeing optimal solutions. This paper adapts these algorithms to Superpuzz and compares their performance. According to previous research on other puzzles, IDA* has been shown to be superior to A*. However, unlike what is obtained in previous research, experi mental results presented in the paper show that A* solves problems more quickly than IDA*,because of a property of the search space of Superpuzz.

I bring forward an argument for dismissal of methodological individualism as an adequate theory for understanding human action. I make use of Kashiwabata Tatsuya’s theoretical explication of selfsacrificial action propounded in his recent book, Jiko-Giman to Jiko-Gisei (Self-deception and Selfsacrifice), in order to produce the evidence for explanative insufficiency of personal intentional states for bringing about self-sacrificial decision making. Kashiwabata establishes that a self-sacrificial action of an individual can be regarded as rational only if it is assessed in terms of the shared intention among people who are engaged in a collective activity. An individual always has good reason not to take such an action as may carry a great loss to her. In reality, however, no one can avoid all the situations that could cause personal losses in the name of collectivity: one’s family, the community, or the nation. She would be entitled to say that her action be self-sacrificial if she were persuaded into doing something that was not good for her. She might not be considered as utterly irrational provided that she gave up the good thing for the sake of others. No one can deny this but the concept of rational action with personal utility cannot explain the rationality of such an action as this. The shared intention to promote some sharable good rationalizes an individual’s self-sacrificial decision making that cannot be rationalized by means of the individual’s personal utilities. As long as the act of self-sacrifice is to be placed at the high position in the list of virtuous acts, philosophers cannot take it for granted that methodological individualism is the correct way of explaining all the human actions.

Dans les Trois Mousquetaires, Anne d'Autriche, reine de France, et le Duc de Buckingham, favori du roi d'Angleterre ont un rendez-vous secret dans le palais du Louvre. Lors cette entrevue ils se souviennent de leur rencontre trois ans auparavant dans un jardin d'Amiens. Cette rencontre n'est pas une invention de Dumas. Plusieurs memorialistes ont laisse des temoignages de cet episode dans un jardin d'Amiens. Une autre anecdote celebre, celle des ferrets en diamant remis par la Reine a Buckingham, voles par Milady et parvenus dans les mains de Richelieu, n'est pas nonplus inventee par Dumas. La Rochefoucauld donne, dans ses Memoires, une autre version de l'aventure des ferrets. L'objectif de cette etude est de comparer ces temoignages et de distinguer entre la realite historique et les elements de fiction ajoutes par Dumas. Dans la premiere partie, nous voulons examiner l'affaire du jardin d'Amiens. Ensuite, nous etudions la version que donne La Rochefoucauld de l'aventure des ferrets. Et a la fin, nous voyons des reactions des contemoporains a travers certains ceuvre litteraires. Ce qui nous impressionne le plus, c'est que, a l'epoque, l'amour de la reine et du favori du roi d'Angleterre etait pris pour un fait reel que l'on pouvait evoquer ouvertement. Vincent Voiture a ecrit un poeme sur l'affaire d'Amiens. Le Poete l'a recitee devant Anned'Autriche elle-meme, et la reine l'a non seulement acceptee mais aussi appreciee.
