Postharvest loss of mango often occurs due to the short harvesting period. An experiment was conducted to determine the impact of paclobutrazol (PBZ) and flower bud pruning (FBP) on regulating flowering, fruiting time and fruit quality of ‘Amrapali’ mango. Different doses of PBZ at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 g per meter canopy diameter and water application along with FBP or without FBP were used, as well as water application without FBP (control). The application of PBZ caused earlier flowering by 22 days and harvesting was also done earlier by 18 days compared to the control. Plants subjected to FBP with PBZ reflowered 36 days later and harvesting was delayed by 16 days compared to the control. Moreover, the combination of PBZ 1.5 g with FBP showed significantly higher flowering percentages, number of panicles, total flowers, total fruits and weight of fruit compared to the control. In addition, the application of PBZ 1.5 g with FBP increased the total soluble solids, reducing sugar, non-reducing sugar, total sugar and β-carotene, while it decreased the vitamin C content. The present findings imply that applying PBZ 1.5 g with FBP to mango can extend the flowering and fruiting time, while the fruit quality was also influenced positively.

源義経をめぐる様々な伝説の一つに北行伝説がある。荒唐無稽な義経北行伝説ではあるのだが、その伝説形成の背景には熊野信仰の広がりや修験者たちの活動があったことが浮かび上がってくる。熊野の人々や修験者は、北方の交易世界に引き寄せられるように北を目指した。そこから見えてくるものは、現在置かれている位置づけとは異なる北東北の世界である。北東北は、日本の終焉の地と見られていたが、実際には北方ユーラシア世界への入口であった。こうした事実をもとにしながら、日本史・世界史融合の具体像について探ることを目指す。

No method has yet been established to evaluate the exposure to tobacco smoke in passive smoking (PS). We therefore conducted a study on the possibility that the levels of urinary trans, trans-muconic acid (MA) and the exhaled carbon monoxide (CO) could be indices of the passive exposure to tobacco smoke. The moderate correlation was observed between urinary MA levels and the number of consumed cigarettes per day in smokers. The mean urinary MA level of the PS (+) group was significantly higher than that with the PS (-) group. Among the PS (+) group, the mean MA level in the urine obtained in the afternoon was higher than that obtained in the morning. A high correlation was observed between the exhaled CO levels and the number of consumed cigarettes per day in smokers. Like the urinary MA level, the mean exhaled CO level in the PS (+) group, too, gave a significantly higher level than in the PS (-) group. Because the biological half life of MA (7.5 ±0.85h) was longer than that of CO (3.0±0.36h), the measurement of urinary MA level is recommended for evaluating the exposure of passive smoking. The measurement of exhaled CO levels is useful only for chain smokers and nonsmokers with PS just before measurement.

一時預かり事業とは、保護者が家庭で子どもの世話をすることができない場合に、保育所や幼稚園、地域子育て支援センター等で一時的に子どもをあずかる事業である。少子化対策の中で急速に普及した一方で実施体制や保育方法は統一されておらず、担当者は困難さを抱えながら保育を行なっている。本稿では一時預かりの困難さを量的に把握し、関連する要因について検証した。A 県内の全ての認可保育所を対象に質問紙調査を実施し、一時預かりを担当する保育者の属性、一時預かりの保育環境、一時預かりの専門性とその評価について多変量解析を行った。分析の結果、勤務形態や母親規範、利用する子どもの数や料金などで有意な関連性が見られた。専門性の高い実践をしている保育者ほど困難さが高く、困難さは保育者の疲労度やストレスに影響を与えていることが明らかになった。

The purpose of this study is to clarify a contemporary meaning of discourse concerning the suicide of Kokichi Tsuburaya who was a marathon runner in the Olympic games in Tokyo, 1964.Tsuburaya's death was continually talked about in the newspaper and magazines, and discourse related to the suicide of Tsuburaya was reproduced.It was pointed out that the nation and the Self Defense Forces had caused “pressure” for Tsuburaya. In worldwide competitions including the Olympic games, contemporary athletes receive “pressure” as Tsuburaya.However, the difference with the generation of Tsuburaya's was clearly shown, and the conversion of the “ethos of sports” was pointed out. As a result of Tsuburaya's death it brought meaning as follows:Through Tsuburaya's, it was recognized that athletes undertake an excessive expectation from those around them, and social pressures over winning or defeat. It is thought that the death of Tsuburaya made clear the problem of identity loss for athletes. In addition, “recognition that modern athletes represent the nation”and “preferable attitude to competitive sport” is recognized. A definite link can be made between the “ethos of sport” and “Tsuburaya” which reproduces a (standard) discourse.

教師の学習に関するメタ認知的知識の不正確さは不適切な指導へとつながる.例えば効果があるなら体罰もやむなしとする考えもある.しかし罰を用いて行動傾向を変容させることは非常に困難であることが知られている.したがって児童・生徒の不適応行動への指導に罰を用いることは倫理的にも科学的にも不適切である.そこで本研究では,教員養成課程の学生や現職教員が体罰についてどのように考え,その効果についてどのような知識を持っているか検討した.その結果,いずれの者も体罰が有効でないことを完全には否定できなかった.また教職課程での学習や現場での経験が体罰に関する倫理的な態度の形成や体罰の有効性の否定につながる可能性が示された.

症例は38歳, 男性. 10年前に近医にて糖尿病を指摘され, 5年前からメトホルミンとインスリンによる治療をうけていた. 2002 (平成14) 年8月以降, 当院で2型糖尿病, 糖尿病性腎症 (曲中クレアチニン値0.95mg/dl) と糖尿病性網膜症に対して治療を行っていた, 2003 (平成15) 年4月5日, 自殺目的でメトホルミン105錠 (26.25g) と睡眠薬を多量に内服しアルコールを多飲した. その後, 悪心, 嘔吐, 上腹部痛と意識障害が出現したため受診した. 高乳酸血症 (178.9mg/dl), 血中尿素窒素値 (128mg/dl) と血中クレアチニン値の上昇 (118mg/dl), anbngapの開大 (58.8) および代謝性アシドーシス (pH 7.219) の所見より乳酸アシド-シスおよび急性腎不全と診断し, 持続的血液濾過透析 (continuous hemodialysis filtration: CHDF) を施行した. 糖尿病に対してはインスリン療法を行った. その後, 血中クレアチニン値の低下と血糖値の改善を認め退院となった. 以上, 自殺目的でメトホルミンの多量内服後に乳酸アシドーシスと急性腎不全を発症した2型糖尿病患者の1例を報告した. この症例より, メトホルミンによる乳酸アシドーシスに対する治療には, 循環動態を安定に保てるCHDFを選択すべきであると考えた. また, 自殺目的でメトホルミンを多量に内服することがないように, 服薬状況の確認が必要であると考えた.

人工知能が相場操縦を行った場合の責任の所在が議論されている.そこで本研究では,遺伝的アルゴリズムを用いた人工知能が人工市場シミュレーションを用いて学習するモデルを構築し,人工知能の作成者が相場操縦という取引戦略を全く意図していなかったにも関わらず,人工知能が学習を通じて相場操縦という取引戦略を発見するのか調べた.その結果,人工知能は相場操縦に他ならない取引を最適な取引として見つけ出した.この結果は,株式取引を行う人工知能の作成者には,人工知能が相場操縦を行わないようにする義務を負わせるなどの規制の必要性を示唆している.

大正期文壇人たちは、「変態」概念を同時期に流行していた天才論と接続させるかたちで消費してゆく。そうした解釈により、「変態」概念は「芸術家」の特権性を絶対化し、彼らの社会・文化的ヘゲモニーを強化する<装飾具>へと再構築されていった。文壇人を取り巻く「民衆」の台頭という時代潮流と併せて考えれば、彼らの「変態」概念消費とは、そこで揺らぐ「芸術家」の象徴的地位を巡る闘争の一端を担っていたと考えられよう。

The Noah multi-parameterization (Noah-MP) scheme is one of several land surface schemes implemented in the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. Our simulations by the WRF model with the Noah-MP scheme show that surface air temperatures in the morning and evening tend to be higher and lower, respectively, than observed, and that the temperatures at an urban station with snow cover increase little from 0 ℃ even in the daytime. The former depends on surface energy balance in the skin layer and the latter results from snow cover assumed to be uniform over a grid cell. These weaknesses are improved by considering the partial transmission of the solar radiation through the skin layer to the soil layer, the heat capacity of the vegetation canopy, and a mixture of soil layers with and without snow cover. The present scheme will contribute to an improvement of the Noah-MP scheme.

This study investigated the internal precipitation and kinematic structure of the South Pacific convergence zone (SPCZ) observed by the Doppler radar aboard the research vessel Mirai, which passed through the western tropical portion of the SPCZ on December 17-21, 2016. Convective precipitation developed in association with the low-level convergence induced by the monsoon and the upper-level divergence associated with extratropical Rossby wave breaking. Mesoscale convective systems (MCSs) developed from either intersecting (northeast–southwest/northwest–southeast) or zonally oriented convective bands. For the MCS developing from the former mode, the zonal and meridional divergence fields made comparable contributions to convective development. For the MCS developing from the latter mode, the divergence field induced by the meridional wind had the largest contribution to producing convection. The MCS with stronger convective updrafts and higher echo tops and coverage occurred in the region where more intense convergence was observed near the surface. The results of this study highlight the dependence of organizational modes of SPCZ convection on the coupling of the tropical low-level and extratropical upper-level forcings, as well as on the zonal and meridional forcing structures.

In the western North Pacific, as a tropical cyclone (TC) translates northward and approaches the midlatitude jet region, a front is often observed to the northeast of the TC, especially in fall. Theoretically, a front accompanies positive vorticity in the lower troposphere because convergence of cross-frontal circulation generates positive vorticity. Horizontal winds accompanied by positive vorticity along a front can impact the TC track. This study estimates the influence of frontal positive potential vorticity (PV) on the TC track using reanalysis data for a case of TC Chan-hom (2020). Horizontal winds due to frontal PV (FPV) are calculated using PV inversion. The FPV produces west-southwesterlies around the TC center just after the FPV formation. Thereafter, it mainly produces northwesterlies. Steering flow due to the FPV displaces Chan-hom 50 km east-southeastward for 72 h.

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious disease of cloven hoofed livestock animals such as cattle and pigs. Since the FMD is endemic in many Asian countries, Japan always faces the threat of FMD invasion from nearby countries. Therefore, preventive measures against introduction of FMD agents via animals and animal products imported from affected countries should be adequately conducted. In addition, when the outbreak occurred, strict control measures such as prompt destruction of animals in the affected farms and movement restriction in the surrounding farms should be implemented. Although these control measures should be based on the recent scientific knowledge, these knowledge are in many different literatures and finding suitable information in a short occasion is always difficult. In this review, we tried to present the resent knowledge found in scientific papers regarding the feature of FMD virus, symptoms found in infected animals and various routes of infection. In addition, we discussed current strategies taken in Japan and pointed out some issues worth to be considered for improvement of these strategies in future.

本研究では閉経後女性を対象にして, 2年間の水泳運動が骨量減少に対し抑制効果をもつか否かを調査した.本研究には22名の水泳実施者 (平均年齢59.5歳) と19名の対照者 (平均年齢59.3歳) が参加した.水泳群は1回1時間の水泳運動を週平均1.5回行った.骨密度は腰椎 (第2~第4椎骨) と大腿骨頸部近位部 (大腿骨頸部, 大転子部とワーズ三角部) を二重エネルギーX線吸収法 (DXA) により測定した.また脚伸展パワーは脚伸展パワー測定装置を用いて評価した.測定はベースライン, 1年と2年後に行った.身長, 体重, カルシウム摂取量および日常の身体活動状況はベースラインにおいて二群間に差がなく, 2年間における変化も小さかった.脚伸展パワーにおいては, 水泳群にのみ1年と2年後に有意な増加があった.水泳群では2年間で大腿骨頸部, 大転子部とワーズ三角部の骨密度にそれぞれ4.4%, 5.7%と3.4%の増加がみられた.これに対して, 対照群では三ヶ所の骨密度の変化はそれぞれ-0.2%, 1.0%と-1.4%であった.これら3部位の骨密度の変化率を2群間で比較すると有意差が認められた.しかし, 水泳群の腰椎の骨密度は対照群と同様に減少を示し, 変化率に関して対照群と差がなかった.これらの結果は, 閉経後女性において2年間の水泳運動が大腿骨近位部の骨密度および脚伸展パワーに有益な影響を及ぼすことを示唆している.

鉛地金は放射性同位体の210Pbを含む場合があり, 遮蔽体を製作する前に, その放射能濃度を測定し, 素材を選択する必要がある。本研究では, 210Pbの定量方法として, 娘核種210BiをDDTC (sodium diethyl dithio carbamate) を用いて, 溶媒抽出分離し, そのβ線を測定する方法を検討した。また, この方法により, 市販の鉛地金14種と古い鉛3種について, 210Pbを定量した。市販地金の210Pb濃度は0.063~11Bq/g (1.7~300pCi/g) , 古い鉛は0.01Bq/g (0.3pCi/g) 以下であった。これらの結果より本法は鉛の素材選択に有用と思われた。本分析方法の定量下限は0.003Bq/g (0.1pCi/g) , 分析所要時間は5.5時間であった。

This study proposes to adapt the fundus camera for use as a personal healthcare tool. The proposed system uses near-infrared light to avoid blinding the subject and three-wavelength near-infrared imaging to acquire colorized fundus images. First, the optical system with the fundus camera was tested using a three-plate near-infrared snapshot camera. Subsequently, image processing and denoising techniques, including tracking and image integration, were applied to reduce the blur caused by biological scattering. Furthermore, a singlechip three-wavelength near-infrared-compatible image sensor is required for device miniaturization, for which a dielectric multilayer Fabry-Perot bandpass filter was adopted as its transmission wavelength can be easily controlled. In this study, the optical design of the dielectric multilayer structure, the fabrication process of the mosaic filter, and the chip mounting technology are investigated. The demosaicing process and color space conversion corresponding to the spectral response characteristics of the fabricated image sensor are also discussed.
