We compared the in vitro performance of brand-name and generic spherical carbon absorbents by studying their physicochemical and adsorptive properties.There was no correlation between specific surface area and adsorption rate for pigment substances.The adsorption removal rates for pigment substances and uremic toxins were almost the same for Kremezin and Kyucal but the adsorption removal rates of some substances were lower for Merckmezin than those for Kremezin.In addition,the adsorption rates for digestive enzymes,important in vivo substances that should not be adsorbed,were high for Kremezin but low for Kyucal and Merckmezin.We found that Kremezin and Kyucal were comparable as regards the adsorption removal rate of indole in the presence of pepsin and sodium cholate,in vivo substances,but with Merckmezin,the adsorption removal rate for indole was lower.In our findings,we noted that the adsorption performance of the generic product Kyucal for most substances was equivalent to that of Kremezin while the adsorption performance of Merckmezin for some substances was lower than that of Kremezin.As a particular conclusion,the lower adsorption removal rate of Merckmezin for indole in the presence of vivo substances needs to be taken into consideration as this will affect clinical results.

The deterministic annealing (DA) method for vector quantization can obtain better representative vectors than the LBG, CL, FSCL and SOFM. But it has two problems. One is that quality of the results is sensitive to the reduction of parameter T which is a temperature in an annealing operation. Another is that learning time is relatively long. Recently, the equidistortion principle has been derived and it is shown effective for vector quantization. In this paper, to solve above problems, a new algoritym named DAEP (Deterministic Annealing method with Equidistortion Principle) is proposed. In the DAEP, the idea of equidistortion principle is introduced into the DA method. In the annealing operation, location of representative vectors are forced to move to the global optimum points using the equidistortion principle. Judging from quality of results and learning time, it is shown that the DAEP can obtain better results than the other methods.

本研究では, 業界の機運として高まりつつあるユーザビリティ担当者の人材育成への関心を踏まえ, ユーザビリティ担当者に求められるコンピタンスの明確化を目指し, 現在のユーザビリティ業界で実際に広く要求されている経験的なコンピタンスを実証的に明らかにすることを目的とした. まず, ユーザビリティ業界のマネージメント層を中心に半構造化インタビューによる2度のデータ収集および分析を実施し, コンピタンスリスト (第1版) を作成した. 続いて, 質問紙調査によって検証と分析を行った. その結果, 大きく五つの分類からなり3段階に重要度分けされる, ユーザビリティ担当者に求められる54項目のコンピタンスリスト (第2版) をまとめた. また, マネージャとエンジニアで求められるコンピタンスに違いがあること, 活動している業種や職種などにかかわらず同一のコンピタンスリストを適用できることが明らかにされた.

The number of children on waiting lists to attend authorized day-care centers is rapidly rising in urban areas, but securing land and the building for the centers is very difficult in those areas. Aiming at the waiting-list child cancellation, the promotion to the non-registered day-care facility that fills an original standard is done in some municipalities. So, the survey was done in Sendai City that was one of such the municipalities.1) The standard of the SENDAI HOIKU-SHITU nurseries is severer than that of another municipality, but the number of facilities compared with the population is more than that of other municipalities. Moreover, about 70 percent of the whole were the nurseries established from of old.2) "Small-scale management" and "Use of existing buildings" are the characteristics of SENDAI HOIKU-SHITU nurseries. To fill the area standard, extension and rebuilding to existing buildings were performed in the cases that shifted from KATEI-HOIKU-SHITU nurseries.3) To deal with the problem of the area standard, in the case where the lease building is used it borrowed the room, and in the case where the ownership building is used rebuilding of home and the use of the vacancy were done.4) The users with high income seem to be using the SENDAI HOIKU-SHITU nurseries because there is little difference between nursery school fees of the authorization day-care center. However, the users with low income were hoping for the authorization day-care center where the fee is cheaper.

(1) 日本脳炎ウィールスの新分離株 (計6株) は一定の条件下で孵化後24時間から3-4週迄の鶏雛血球を凝集させる.(2) 抽出された血球凝集素は易熱性であるが, 3,000 r.p.m. 20分遠沈上清として4℃保存で殆ど10,000 r.p.m. 60-90分遠沈上清と同じ程度安定に存し必ずしも高速遠心を必要としない.(3) 感染力を有するウィールス粒子と血球凝集素の関係につき吸收, Seitz濾過, 超遠心法, 不活化試験, メタノール精製法等で検討したが, 血球凝集素対LD50比の如きものに一定の関係は見出せず, 血球凝集素は少くもウィールス粒子自身ではない事をほぼ推定出来た.(猶本報告の要旨は昭和26年11月第5回日本細菌学会関東支部総会に於て報告した。)終りに貴重なウイールス株の御分与を忝うした予防衛生研究所安東清博士の御好意を深謝する。更に川喜田教授の御指導御鞭撻に謝意を表する。

Under the current deregulation of electric utility industry, power system planning has become more complex. System planners are required to study how to use the available resources to meet customer's demand economically with an acceptable reliability and quality. The integrated resource planning is emerged as one of the effective approach for this problem recently and the approach has been expanded to include the value of reliability, that is, power interruption cost. This paper is aimed to develop a flexible decision method to select a favorable plan among various transmission system expansion alternatives, not only from power supplier's view point, but also from customer's perspective including cost of interruption. Bellman-Zadeh's maximizing decision using fuzzy decision set is applied as an flexible decision method which is able to reflect the planner's intensions. Numerical examples are shown to ascertain the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The toxic agent involved in the extract of rotten short-neck clam was searched by us chemically and pharmacologically, The results are as follows: 1) Tyramine, putrescine, agmatine and cadaverine were produced in it, though histamine was not. 2)Choline was produced in it. Its amount was 1.70-4.25 mg/g. 3) The antagonistic manner of atropine or benadryl against to the intestinal contraction of a guinea pig caused from the serosal side in vitro by this extract was similar to that against to the choline action. 4) The rotten extract induced the contraction of a guinea pig alimentary tract from its mucosal side in vivo. 5) Choline induced the contraction of a guinea pig alimentary tract from its mucowl side in vivo with the concentration of 1.70-4.25 mg/ml. 6) The quantity of feces excreted from a guinea pig increased without delay after oral administration of 5 ml of that rotten extract, but returned to the normal quantity in 5 hours. From the above data, the agent of the food poisoning caused by rotten short-neck clam is considered to be choline in it.

Climate changes for the end of the 21st century projected by Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 5 (CMIP5) models are classified into three clusters by a cluster analysis of annual-mean tropical sea surface temperature (SST) change patterns. The classified SST change patterns are featured by the zonal gradient of the change in the equatorial Pacific and inter-hemispheric contrast of the warming. Precipitation and atmospheric circulation responses are composited for the clusters, and their relationships to the SST changes are examined. Precipitation increase is larger where SST warming is larger than surroundings and vice versa. Common precipitation and atmospheric circulation responses for each cluster are found also over tropical lands and the extratropics as well as in the tropical oceans, suggesting that some remote effects of the tropical SST change patterns could be one reason for less agreement among CMIP5 models in climate changes.

Construction of the Chubu International Airport has started off Tokoname City (Chita Peninsula) in Ise Bay. Various surveys such as bathymetry, seafloor drilling, sonic prospecting, and geologic examinations of recovered borehole core samples, have been performed to reveal soil engineering characteristics, submarine topography, and submarine geology at the airport site (Chubu Kuukou Chousakai=The Chubu International Airport Research Foundation, 1994). Many fruitful results on the submarine geology have been obtained in these surveys, as follows : (1) The submarine topography is divided into the inshore “Upper submarine terrace”, “Offshore gently sloping sea floor”, and “Submarine scarp” between the two. A submarine channel is trenched southwards on the inshore submarine terrace.(2) The bay area is underlain by the A, B, C1, C2, and T Formations, in descending order. The T Formation is Mio-Pliocene Tokoname Group, the basement of the bay area. The Tokoname Group forms a buried wave-cut platform of a peninsular shape, which extends southwards. On the east side of the peninsular wave-cut platform, a submarine buried valley stretches southwards under the submarine channel and is mostly filled with the A Formation. On the west side of the wave-cut platform runs the Ise Bay Fault, and the A, B, C1, and C2 Formations thicken offshore.(3) The A Formation, which is divided into the A1 (upper), A2 (middle), and A3 (lower) Members, consists of marine muddy strata of the present bottom surface and is correlated with the Nanyo Formation below the Nohbi Plain (north of the Ise Bay). The A Formation is 25 to 35 meters thick, and the 14C ages range from 9, 400 to 5, 200 y. B.P. of Holocene age.The A3 and A2 Member intercalates the U-Oki and K-Ah tephra, respectively, both are widespread tephra layers in Japan.(4) The B Formation, which is divided into the B1 (upper), B2 (middle), B3 (lower), and B4 (base) Members, consists of sand beds and gravelly beds. The B1, B2, and B3 Members are correlated with the Nohbi and First Gravel Formations below the Nohbi Plain, respectively. The B4 Member forms a buried terrace on the west slope of the peninsular wave-cut platform and is correlated with the Toriimatsu or Ohzone Formations, Lower Terrace Deposits in the eastern margin of the Nohbi Plain. The B Formation is of late Pleistocene age.(5) The C1 Formation consists mainly of marine clay beds about 40 meters thick. The fossil pollen composition indicates that the C1 Formation is correlated with the lower part of the Atsuta Formation in the Nohbi Plain and is of middle Pleistocene age.(6) The C2 Formation consists of sand (upper) and gravelly (lower) beds and exceeds 50 meters thick. The fossil pollen composition indicates that the C2 Formation is correlated with the Ama Formation below the Nohbi Plain and is of middle Pleistocene age.(7) The basement T Formation (Tokoname Group) consists of alternating sand and compact mud beds and intercalates two volcanic ash layers, which are correlated with the Souri (upper, Sr) and Higashitani (lower, Hg) Volcanic Ash Layers from the conformity in index of volcanic glass. The Souri and Higashitani V. A. Ls are intercalated within the upper horizon of the Tokoname Group in the Chita Peninsula.(8) The Ise Bay Fault (faults and flexure zone), trending in the NNW-SSE direction, extends in the western margin of the bay area. The Tokoname Group on the east side of the fault trends northwest and gently dips northeast. The Utsumi Fault, trending in the WNW-ESE dircction, extends in the southern margin of the peninsula.The geological relationship between the Chita Peninsula and airport site in the above-mentioned results brings the following problems for further study.

東京国際空港では逼迫する航空需要に応えるため,沖合に4本目の滑走路(D滑走路)を建設する再拡張事業が進められている.D滑走路の建設工事は性能発注による設計・施工一括発注方式が採用され,維持管理を含んだ一体的な調達方式が適用された.予防保全的な考え方を導入することで,空港施設における合理的な維持管理計画の考え方を立案したので報告する.

渡良瀬遊水地および近隣地域の2か所の隣接する塒で,冬期のトラフズクの食性を明らかにするために,2004年から2010年の冬期間のペレット分析を行った.渡良瀬遊水地では7年間に合計142個のペレットから236個体の餌動物を,猿島郡の調査地では3年間に108個のペレットから154個体の餌動物が得られた.どちらの調査地もネズミ類が主要な餌動物であったが,ペレットの割合は,渡良瀬遊水地では猿島郡より鳥類の割合が有意に多く,年によってその割合は著しく変動した.渡良瀬遊水地では冬期に多くの鳥類が就塒するために,両調査地における餌動物に含まれる鳥類と哺乳類の割合の違いは,採餌環境の違いによるものと考えられた.
