ハイブリッド型人工膵臓では、ラ島は血管系から切り放されさらに半透膜で被われている。このためハイブリッド型人工膵臓の血糖値変化に応答したインスリン分泌は、当然自然の膵臓からのインスリン分泌とは異なるであろう。本研究では、ハイブリッド人工膵臓の形状、半透膜の膜厚や膜中の高分子濃度等がインスリン分泌に与える影響を、実験と理論の両面から検討を加えた。よく実験値を再現できる数式モデルを組み立てることができた。数式モデルによる解析より、インスリン分泌の動特性に与える影響は、ハイブリッド型人工膵臓の形状よりはラ島を包むハイドロゲル膜の膜厚が大きな影響を与えることがわかった。本研究により、ハイブリッド型人工膵臓作製のための、基礎データを得る膜透過試験評価システムまたインスリン分泌の数式モデルを構築でき、これらは今後新規な封入材料を選定したり、新たなシステムを作製する有効な手段になり得ると考えられる。

当社は, 現在, 「エコも, 使いやすさも」をコンセプトに商品を提供している.すなわち, 「環境・家計にやさしい」, かつユニバーサルデザイン (Universal Design: UD) として, 「使う人に優しい」商品の開発・販売に取り組んでいる.このような背景の中で, 筆者らは, フィルター掃除の自動化に取り組み, 世界初「フィルターお掃除ロボット」搭載エアコンを開発し, 市場から高い評価を得た.今回, UDの更なる進化として, 新開発の空気清浄ユニット, 除菌熱交換器, 脱臭フィルターを「フィルターお掃除ロボット」と組み合わせることで, 従来, 半年ごと (脱臭フィルター) や3年ごと (空気清浄ユニット) に必要としていたお手入れや, 熱交換器クリーニングなどのメンテナンスを不要とした「10年間手間なしで清潔・省エネ・パワフルなメンテナンスフリーエアコン」を開発した.

水環境健全性指標の活用方法として, 小学校教育の総合学習へ適用することが考えられる。しかし, 適用の有効性については指摘されているが, その効果を具体的に検証している事例はない。本稿では同指標を活用した授業の有効性について同じ児童を4年時と5年時の二カ年に亘り調査し検証を試み, さらに, 三カ年目に新5年生の児童にも検証のための調査を行った。内容としては, 同指標の調査を行うと同時にアンケート意識調査と感想文の記述を行ってもらい, 指標の回答内容の変化と意識内容の変化を比較し, 回答に関係する意識の広がりや深まりなどの変化が学習効果を表していると考えた。分析の結果, 水環境健全性指標による調査経験は, 児童の水環境に関する知識の取得だけでなく意識の変化とも関連し, 生物のような分かり易い事項からゴミや汚れという環境問題へと関心が広がっている学習効果を確認した。

英単語を習得する方法には,従来型の単語カードを使ったものから,Web上のオンライン教材,近年では携帯情報端末上で学習する方法などがある.報告者らは,携帯情報端末の利用場面(シーン)に着目し,いわゆる「すきま時間」にも英単語の学習から復習テストが行なえる,高専生を対象とした英単語学習支援システムを開発した.このシステムを高専専攻科の学生20名に授業の一部として17週間利用させ,その利用状況や習得度を分析し,学習支援効果の検討を行なった.利用前と利用後テスト,利用時間の状況,利用者アンケートの結果から,学習支援効果を認めた.

病気の症状はしばしば「ずきずき」といったオノマトペで直感的に表現される.痛みの強さに比べ,痛みの質は定量化が難しいとされてきた.痛みの量と質の両者を表現できるオノマトペは,電子化されてきた医療への導入が期待される.本研究では,オノマトペの音韻特性と医療用尺度の印象評価値の関係を特定する被験者実験によりデータベースを作成し,オノマトペによって表される症状を定量的に推定し出力するシステムを作成した.

A network of the emergency telemedicine for mountain climbers in Japan Alps area has been developed. The network consists of 2.4GHz wireless LAN with over 30 km distance to be connected the Cable TV LAN. We confirmed that this network is able to transfer the high quality video and audio signal suitable for the telemedicine between the mountain huts and hospitals. In this paper, we pointed out the shortcomings of wireless LAN system and cable TV network system in use, for the telemedicine, and wireless LAN module covered more than 30km and a extension system of upstream frequency bandwidth for Cable TV network. Experiments suggested that a low cost and long distance wireless LAN is useful for mountain climber's emergency telemedicine.

There are an increasing number of reports of traumatic dislocation of peroneal tendones, formerly believed to be rare, as a result of sports accidents. Most of them are diagnosed late and treated surgically. Although conservative treatment for acute cases is described in standard orthopedic textbooks, few successful cases have actually been reported. There is no established theory as for how old injuries could be managed conservatively, as for the method and duration of immobilization and as for the necessity of non-weight-bearing. A case of traumatic dislocation of the peroneal tendons is presented in which immobilization was started on the twelfth day following injury and continued for 31/2 moths permitting weight-bearing. The patient, a 24 year-old dental student, who sustained a dorsiflexioninversion injury from skiing, returned to sports activities such as water skiing at 5 1/2 months and regained full ROM at 8 months. He was assymptomatic in the 16th month of follow-up. Several problems about conservative tratment of this condition are discussed.

The present study investigates the effect of ambiguous rejection(e.g., people are ignored by others)and obvious rejection(e.g., people are negatively evaluated by others)on predictions of future rejection. One hundred and thirty-seven male and female undergraduates were asked to imagine situations in which they were either accepted, rejected implicitly, or rejected explicitly, and to complete a questionnaire. The results suggest that social rejection lowered participants' state self-esteem and boosted the perceived likelihood of future rejection by the rejecter. However, social rejection did not boost the perceived likelihood of future rejection by people they didn't already know. Although there was no difference between ambiguous rejection and obvious rejection generally, males were less likely than females to lower their state self-esteem in cases of obvious rejection. The results are discussed from the perspective of sociometer theory.

The bigger the size of ship becomes, the more complicate questions arise on the hull construction. The gunwale connection in the mammouth ship is one of the most grave questions, because of the poor purchasability of the big size gunwale angles, the hard workmanship on the riveting of large diametres, and etc. As the countermeasures for the above-mentioned questions, the Tee-section or angle built-up by welding, or else the rounded gunwale, were already proposed.<BR>The authors examine the current practices of the gunwale connection in the mammouth ship and propose a new type of welded gunwale, "L-gunwale", as the most promising.

クレーン等による死亡労働災害は,昭和48年のピーク時に約400件であったのと比較すれば,年間約100件と大幅に減少している.しかし,現在でも,クレーンからのつり荷の落下,つり荷による挟まれ,クレーンからの墜落,機体等の折損・倒壊・転倒,つり荷の激突などが依然として多発しており,これらの災害に対する適切な災害防止対策が必要とされている.このため,日本クレーン協会では,これらの多発する災害を未然に防止するための危険性または有害性の事前評価手法として,「クレーン等のリスクアセスメント実施要領(日本クレーン協会規格JCAS0001-2008)」を公表している.本稿では,前記規格を小型移動式クレーンに適用する際の基本的考え方とリスクアセスメントの具体的実施事例を概説する.

紙とディスプレイの長所を融合した新規なドキュメント表示媒体「電子ペーパー」に求められる形態的特性を検討した。既存ディスプレイ、紙、電子ペーパー試作品及び重さ、厚さ、硬さの違うモックアップ媒体を用いて、複数ページ文書の比較、判断を伴う2種類の解読の読解タスクをのべ76人の被験者に実施した。被験者の行動観察やパフォーマンス測定、主観評価値の因子分析により、表示媒体の複数ページ閲覧性が画質因子と独立して重要であり、タスクのやりやすさと相関が高いこと、手持ち可能な表示媒体はユーザの姿勢と媒体配置の自由度を高め、適度な剛性感(コシ)と軽薄感を両立したモックアップ媒体が読みやすさの点で紙を上回ること、を示した。

Human urine can be diverted from faeces by urine diversion toilets. Nutrient recovery from diverted urine has been a growing concern recently, because urine contains many nutrients. Phosphorus in urine can be recovered as a precipitate of MAP (i.e., struvite, MgNH4PO4·6H2O) by adding magnesium salt under alkaline conditions. In this study, we (1) developed a plant for struvite recovery from urine using a urine diversion toilet, (2) investigated the characteristics of the plant's urine collection, urine storage and struvite formation, and (3) analyzed the precipitates formed in the plant. In this report, we present the phosphorus flow in the plant. The plant was mainly composed of a urine diversion toilet, a storage tank and a reactor. Using the toilet, 94.8% of the urine excreted into the toilet was collected and stored in the storage tank. The composition of the stored urine became stable 19 days after the start of urine storage, and 20.8% of the phosphorus in the urine excreted into the toilet was precipitated with other precipitates during urine storage. The reactor recovered 85.0% of the phosphorus in the influent of the reactor, which was 62.0% of the phosphorus in the urine excreted into the toilet. It was considered that most of the recovered phosphorus in the reactor was in the form of struvite.

Focusing on the process of a dancer’s acquisition of a new technique in breakdance,,“Inside Ninety”, this longitudinal case study aims to disclose the process of skill acqui-sition through practice. We conducted a fieldwork study (participant observation andinterviews) to analyze the dancer’s endeavours to acquire and improve skills. By avoid-ing the specification of goals and movements by the researchers, as is often the case in experimental settings, we observed the development of movements in each practicesession. The results indicate that the process of acquisition of a new dance techniqueconsists not only of the refinement of a particular skill, but also of two other activities;the exploration of new and original skill utilizing the characters of a particular skill, and the arrangement of that skill so that it should fit into his full performance. Theprocess of an expert’s acquisition of a particular technique is a complicated and creativeone, integrating each skill into a full performance.

2種のインド水牛,Murrah種とSurti種,より得た乳からカゼインと乳清蛋白質を単離し,その性質を調べた.全カゼインの電気泳動パターンとアミノ酸組成は2種の水牛乳でほとんど同じであった.Murrah種の水牛乳からα_s1-, α_s2-, β-,およびκ-力ぜインをAmberliteCG-50およびDEAE-Sephadexクロマトグラフィーによって単離,精製した.各カゼイヤのアミノ酸組成は,イタリア水牛のカゼインについて報告されている値と一致していた.スラブ電気泳動で水牛乳α_s1-カぜインは複数のバンドを示した.ホスファターゼ処理によってバンドは1本になることから,この不均一性はりん酸化の違いによるものと考えられた.α_s1-, α_s2-, β-およびκ-カゼインの量比は40:9:35:12であり,α_s2-カゼインの比率が低い点でイタリア水牛(α_s1-とα_s2-カゼインがそれぞれ30および18%)と異なっていた,Murrah種とSurti種の全乳清蛋白質をスラブゲル電気泳動,SDSゲル電気泳動によって比較した結果,両者はほぼ同様のパターンを示した.また,抗-ウシ乳清蛋白質血清を用いた免疫電気泳動の結果,水牛乳の主要乳清蛋白質は牛乳のそれと免疫化学的に類似していることが示された.
