IKAROSとは宇宙航空研究開発機構(JAXA)が開発した小型ソーラー電力セイル実証機であり,2010年5月21日に種子島宇宙センターよりH-IIAロケット17号機によって打ち上げられた.IKAROSは将来の外惑星領域探査ミッションを想定してソーラーセイルおよびソーラー電力セイルを世界で初めて実証した.2011年以降も運用を継続し,数多くの成果をあげている.IKAROSは小規模プロジェクトのため,広報活動に関して,予算をほとんど割くことができない状況であったが,チームメンバーが創意工夫を凝らし,精力的に活動を行った.特にツィッターやブログを通して開発・運用の現場の様子をタイムリーに発信したことで多くのファンを獲得できた.また,TPSにも発信してもらったことでIKAROSの成果が世界中に知れ渡ることとなった.さらに,はやぶさ地球帰還との相乗効果もあり,日本の探査技術が大きく取り上げられる機会となった.本稿では,我々が取り組んできたIKAROSの広報・アウトリーチ活動全般について報告する.

今年の映画界は「Shallweダンス?」などの邦画が,中高年の観客を集めて話題になった。テレビはドラマの当たり年。「秀吉」が広い年齢層に受けた。音楽では安室奈美恵らの若い女性歌手が爆発的な人気を得た。ヒットメーカー3人に,発想法や工夫を聞いた。今年は映画では,日本映画が元気だった。配給収入上位10作品のうち半分を日本映画が占めた。

A variety of robots has been studied and developed for undersea exploration. One of the applications for undersea exploration is mining of undersea resources such as methane hydrate and rare metal by Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). To extend active duration time of the robot in the sea, a system through which the AUVs recharge autonomously batteries is a key technology. Our reseach group has confirmed in a pool environment the dual-eye visual servoing system made a pole attached to the vehicle dock into a hole. This experiment simulates situation where the vehicle approaches recharging station under deep sea. But previous studies were conducted with ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) that is controlled by remote computer instead of human operator. In those experiments, power cables affected performance of control accuracy. Therefore the performance of visual feedback with AUV named Tuna-Sand2 that is compeletely indepent from cables or wires and has a general structure of modernized AUV system, has been verified to confirm the practicability of dual-eye dockig system.

小惑星探査ミッション「はやぶさ」は世界初の小惑星サンプルリターンミッションである。2003年5月に打ち上げられ、2005年9月に小惑星イトカワに到着、そしてイトカワの観測を行った後、その表面からの物質採取を試みた。その後、燃料漏れなどの大きなトラブルがあり、地球帰還は3年遅れの2010年6月となった。いくつかのトラブルを抱えながらも、カプセルを地球に帰還させることに成功した「はやぶさ」は、太陽系天体往復探査の第一歩を踏み出したことになる。今後、「はやぶさ」の経験を生かして、より確実な技術開発へと進んでいくことになろう。一方、「はやぶさ」が探査したイトカワは、その大きさが500mほどしかない小さな天体で、このような天体の探査も世界初の試みである。現時点(2010年7月)では、イトカワの物質が採取されたかどうかは分かっていないが、イトカワについても多くの科学的成果を挙げている。

間接吸光度検出イオンクロマトグラフィーによる食品中のフィチン酸 (PA) の分析法を確立した. 分析カラムには Shim-pack IC-Al, 溶離液にはナフタレン-1, 3, 6-トリスルホン酸塩 (pH 5.5) を用い, PAの溶出を295nmで検出した. なお試料は0.6N塩酸で抽出し, 中和した後, 陰イオン交換樹脂カラム (AG1-X4) に負荷した. 0.2N塩化ナトリウム, 水で洗浄した後, 2N塩酸でPAを溶出させ, 減圧乾固して塩酸を除去した. これを水に溶解し, 0.45μmのフィルターでろ過して試験溶液を調製し, 測定に供した. 大豆, 押麦, 小麦粉にPAを添加して回収実験を行ったところ, 回収率は93.0~98.3%であり, また定量限界は0.05g/kgであった. 各種食品中のPA含有量を測定したところ, 米ぬかの値が特に高く, 72.4~87.0g/kgであった.

This study examines the relationship between traditional mainstream media and weblogs. It compares content analyses of articles on the controversial anti-influenza drug "Tamiflu" published by The Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan's largest daily, with information presented in weblogs. It was found that weblogs rely heavily on traditional mass media for news, and the influence of weblogs on mass media such as daily newspapers is limited.

The 3-(4-cyano-3-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5,5-dimethylthiohydantoin derivatives which have carboxy-terminal side chains were synthesized and their agonistic/antagonistic activities against androgen receptor (AR) measured. Among them, compound 13b showed antagonistic activity (IC50=130 nM) with no agonistic activity even at 10000 nM. This compound exhibited significant metabolic stability and oral antiandrogenic activity (ED50=7 mg/kg).

The semantics of Backus FP is given by the it's formal system FFP. i.e. f:x=y is defined by using FFP's meaning function μ if and only if μ(fFFP, xFFP) reduce to yFFP (where subscript FFP indicates the version of an FP object translated into an FFP one). When recursively defined function is computed, in Lisp 1.5 of use the external mechanism LABEL notation, in Curry's system of the lambda or combinatory calculus, the fixed point operater 'Y is used. Backus[Backus 78] used for this purpose the meta composition rule in μ and succeeded in solving recursive equations according to the reductuion system FFP having meta composition reduction rule without any external mechanism or Y. Williams showed the formal rules for translation of FP into FFP representation which preserve meaning of FP functions. By his algorithm Πf, f=Ef in FP is translated into F=<Πf(Ef)>, for example fact=eq0→-1 ; ×○[id fact○sub1]≡Efact, is tanslated into FACT≡Πfact(Efact)=EQ○2→1 ; ×○[ID○2 APPLY○[1 SUB 1○2]] Then according to the reduction rule of μ, μ(<FACT>,3) is reduced to the most simple expression 6 as follows μ(<FACT>,3)⇒#μ(FACT, <<FACT>,3>)⇒*6 The first reduction is an application of meta composition rule. To be precise, we should write e. g. EQ0○2 as <COMP EQ0 2> but to save space we used an abbreviation which is similar to the FP notation. In this representation algorithm, similar to the ccase of Y usage, the recursively defined function f=Ef in FP is translated into fFFP dose not contain function variable f. In this paper we propose a type assignment system for recursive functions in FP by assigning the type to the corresponding FFP representation aloging these lines.

Hydroxyl groups play a major role in binding to a receptor protein. To clarify the side chain conformation of 1,25(OH)_2D_3 (1) to bind to VDR, we analyzed the mobility of the side chain of 1 and its 20-epimer (2) in terms of the spatial region accessible by the 25-hydroxyl group and the results were displayed as a dot map. The dot map indicates that each vitamin D has two major densely populated regions: A and G for 1 and EA and EG for 2. We designed six 22-substituted analogs of active vitamin D, 3-8, whose side chain hydroxyl is restricted to occupy one of the four spatial regions defined above and the analogs were classified into group A, G, EA, and EG accordingly. Syntheses of analogs, 3-8, were performed via diastereoselective conjugate addition of alkyl cuprate to steroidal (E)-and (Z)-22-en-24-ones (12 and 13) and -22-en-24-oates (16, 17, 20 and 21) as the key step. The activity of the analogs, 3-8, to bind to VDR was examined in compared with 1. It is apparent that the members of A ( 4 and 6) and EG (7) group analogs show much higher activity than the others, G(3, 5) and EA (8). The contrasting activities of the two 22-methyl analogs (3 and 4) are especially outstanding: VDR binding (3:4:1=1/50:1/3:1); differentiation of HL-60 cells (3:4:1=1/70:1:1). The results suggest that the conformation of 1,25(OH)_2D_3 (1) involved in binding to VDR and responsible for activity is the C(17,20,22,23)-anti form and the region where the 25-hydroxyl group occupies is the A.

「ハイビスカスとサルビアの花」は、ロレンスの詩集「鳥・獣・花』に収録されている長詩である。新約聖書の『ヨハネの黙示録』に登場する赤い竜を、隠れた題材として扱っているこの難解な詩を探究するには、同じくロレンスのエッセイ『アポカリプス』を無視する事はできない。両作品には、彼の思想、特にヨーロッパのキリスト教観が必然的に相対しているからである。『アポカリプス』との綿密な照合により、詩中で謳い上げる詩人ロレンスの内面の声に耳を傾けながら、そこに浮かび上がる赤竜の真意を解き明かすことを本稿での目的とする。ハイビスカスサルビア主義者怒り赤い竜
