We have attempted to promote the decomposition of organic matter deposited on the marine bottom below fish net pen culture by the biological activities of a deposit feeding capitellid polychaete, Capitella sp. 1. The organically enriched sediment was reproduced in the tub in the laboratory by the addition of moist pellets for fish culture on the sediment. We compared the chemical characteristics of the sediments between the experiments with and without Capitella. In these experiments, the Capitella colonies increased rapidly, and the biological activities such as feeding, reworking etc. efficiently decomposed the organic matter added on the sediment. The levels of organic matter of the sediment with Capitella fluctuated stably around the initial level throughout the period of the experiments for 60 days, while the levels in the experiments without Capitella gradually increased. The promotion of organic decomposition of the sediment in the experiments with Capitella also prevented the development of reduced conditions in the sediment. If we can re-establish a dense Capitella population on the bottom below the fish net pen quickly in the environmental recovery process from autumn to winter by releasing artificially cultured colonies of the worms, the potential of organic decomposition on the bottom will be significantly enhanced.

県内の介護療養型医療施設、介護老人保健施設、介護老人福祉施設で生括する高齢者の終末期における意思決定について、看護職の視点からその現状を明らかにする目的で、これら施設に勤務する看護職への郵送質問紙調査を実施した。その結果、以下が明らかになった。(1)回答者は全国の介護保険施設に勤務する看護職の属性と同様の傾向であった。(2)高齢者本人への終末期に関する希望確認を実施しているのは16.5%で、施設種類別に大差がなかった。(3)終末期の生活の場所の決定権は、高齢者本人が10.8%であった。(4)8割弱の看護職が意識的に話し合いに参加していたが、介護療養型医療施設では積極的に同席しない傾向にあった。これらから、高齢者の終末期における意思決定と権利擁護の判断や判断を支える科学的、倫理的な根拠に関して、介護保険施設の特殊性を考慮した継続教育が必要となることが示唆された。

Background: The associations of bowel movement frequency and laxative use with cardiovascular disease (CVD) are unclear.Methods: A total of 72 014 subjects (29 668 men and 42 346 women) aged 40 to 79 years, without a history of CVD or cancer, completed a lifestyle questionnaire at baseline between 1988 and 1990 that included information on bowel movement frequency (daily, every 2–3 days, or once every 4 or more days) and laxative use (yes or no), and were followed-up until 2009.Results: During the subjects’ 1 165 569 person-years of follow-up, we documented 977 deaths from coronary heart disease (561 men and 416 women), 2024 from total stroke (1028 men and 996 women), 1127 from ischemic stroke (606 men and 521 women), and 828 from hemorrhagic stroke (388 men and 440 women). The prevalence of CVD risk factors, such as diabetes, stress, depression, and physical inactivity, was higher in laxative users and in those with a lower frequency of bowel movements. The multivariable HRs (95% confidence intervals [CIs]) of laxative users were as follows: 1.56 (95% CI, 1.21–2.03) for coronary heart disease and 1.37 (95% CI, 1.07–1.76) for ischemic stroke in men, and 1.27 (95% CI, 1.08–1.49) for total stroke, and 1.45 (95% CI, 1.17–1.79) for ischemic stroke in women. Similar results were observed even after the exclusion of deaths that occurred early in the follow-up period. A significant association between bowel movement frequency and mortality from CVD was not observed.Conclusions: Constipation could be a marker of exposure to CVD risk factors, and laxative use could be a risk factor for mortality from coronary heart disease and ischemic stroke.

【はじめに】内側型変形性膝関節症(膝OA)における歩行時lateral thrustは膝OA発症の原因・結果ともに関与が認められることから,lateral thrustの改善は膝OAの進行予防に寄与すると考えられる.膝OAに対して臨床で大腿四頭筋を標的とした運動療法が実施されているが,lateral thrustに対する大腿四頭筋の影響は明らかでない.本研究の目的はlateral thrustと大腿四頭筋筋力及び歩行時の内側広筋(VM),外側広筋(VL)の筋活動動態との関係を明らかにし,大腿四頭筋に対する運動療法を再考することである.<BR>【対象】膝OAと診断された15名(平均年齢69.6±7.5歳)とした.病期はKellgren & Lawrenceの分類にてGrade1が4名,Grade2が3名,Grade3が5名,Grade4が3名であった.また,大腿脛骨角(FTA)は178.4±4.0°,膝関節伸展角度は-3.9±5.2°であった.<BR>【方法】(1)hand held dynamometerを用いて,最大等尺性膝伸展筋力を測定し,体重で除した値を大腿四頭筋筋力として採用した.(2)測定は自由歩行とし,連続する3歩行周期を解析対象とした.3軸加速度計を腓骨頭直下,足関節外果直上に貼付し,加速度波形を導出した.まず,足関節外果部の鉛直成分よりHeel contact(HC)を同定し,1歩行周期を100%とした.解析はlateral thrustの指標であるHCから側方成分のピーク値に達するまでの時間(ピーク時間),ピーク値を含む加速度波形の峰数とした.同時に,評価筋をVM,VLとし,歩行時における表面筋電図をそれぞれ導出した.得られた筋電波形より遊脚期における筋活動開始時間(Onset time),立脚期における筋活動終了時間(Offset time)を求めた.また,筋活動開始からHC(Onset-HC),筋活動開始から筋活動終了(Onset-Offset)までの積分値(IEMG)を求めた.それぞれのIEMGに時間正規化・振幅正規化を行い,%IEMGを求めた.<BR>【統計処理】ピーク時間,峰数を目的変数とし,FTA,膝関節伸展角度,大腿四頭筋筋力及びVM,VLのOnset time,Offset time,%IEMG(Onset-HC),%IEMG(Onset-Offset)を説明変数として,Stepwise法による重回帰分析を行った.なお,有意水準は5%未満とした.<BR>【結果】重回帰分析によりピーク時間に影響を与える因子は認めなかった.峰数に影響を与える因子はVMのOnset timeで標準化係数βは0.621であった(R<SUP>*2</SUP>=0.338,p<0.05). <BR>【考察】lateral thrustに関与する因子として,大腿四頭筋筋力ではなくVMのOnset timeが認められた.本研究結果より,遊脚期におけるVMのOnset timeの遅延を改善させる運動療法の必要性が示唆された.<BR>

Koganei Cherry Street is located along Tamagawa canal in Tokyo and designated as a national cultural property. However, in recent years decline of cherry trees of this street is concerned about shading from surrounding other trees and incidence of wood-rot disease. We tried to survey the current condition of wood-rot fungi distribution on the cherry trees and to examine the effect of shading on the fungal occurrence. The survey was conducted five times through 2005 to 2007, identifying the fruit bodies of wood-rot fungi and measuring the tree size and the proportion of shaded canopy. In 2007, fruit bodies of wood-rot fungi composed of 38 species in 28 genus were found on 51.5% of 666 cherry trees. Shading did not show significant effect on the occurrence of fruit bodies. On the other hand, tree size had a significant effect and the larger trees suffered form wood-rot disease more frequently than smaller trees.

本研究は人型対話メディアを用いた身体的相互作用が,使用者の対話相手に対する感情に与える影響を検証した.身体的相互作用として抱擁に着目し,人型対話メディアの抱擁が対話者が感じる対話相手への関心や好意を向上させるという仮説を立てた.身体的相互作用を促す仕様の対話メディアを提案し,従来の対話メディアと違い,親密な人間関係を築くサポートメディアとしての可能性を示した.

関東の南岸域に発生した局地前線について航空機観測を行い,上空でのエアロゾル分布と局地前線に伴う視程の悪化について議論した.2003年12月19日の午前に観測された局地前線は,夜間に関東内陸の地面付近に蓄積した寒気と,南よりの暖気移流との間で発生した.前線面付近でのエアロゾルは粒径ごとに異なる温位層内に分布しており,前線面の上部で高濃度になっていた.その後正午ごろには地面付近の寒気は解消したが,局地前線は西風と北西風とのシアへと変質した.この時,前線面の寒気側下層で粒径3.0μm以下のエアロゾル濃度が高くなっていた.この領域では午前に20km以上であった視程が5km程度にまで下がっており,この視程の低下はエアロゾルの増加によるものであった.

本研究では,VR技術の基礎となる錯覚現象の一つとして,視覚誘導性身体動揺を取り上げ,その定量計測と解析,およびVR機器や身体運動の制御応用を検討している.本報告では,その定量解析における,身体動揺の誘導性の有無判定に資する心拍変動解析について述べる.
