In Nigeria, regionalism is often seen as something working against national integration, and the word ‘regionalism’ has tended to be used in a negative term to denote divisive tendancies. And this is very different from the situation in Japan where political and economic centralisation is so strong that the study of ‘regionalism’ have received considerable attention in recent years.The origin of regionalism in Nigeria dated back to the history of the establishment of the country as a political unit. In this paper, the author traced the history of the demarcation of Nigeria's international boundaries.The emergence of Nigeria as a political unit occurred in two stages. The first stage featured the establisment of the British trading posts and later protectorates along the sea coast and the River Niger. The second stage was the demarcation of boundaries between Nigeria and the neighbouring countries.During the first stage, Britain succeeded in securing economic and political interest in the Niger delta district, partly because she had established relatively strong trade relations with the people of the district, and partly because the Royal Niger Company had made treaties of protection with the people.The second stage occurred when the land boundaries were decided upon during the partition of Africa at Berlin in 1885. And in this scramble for territory, the emphasis was on effective occupation.In both stages, the question of consulting the local people never arose, and in mamy cases, the international boundaries split some ethnic groups into two different countries, or it forced peoples of different languages, different religions, and different outlook to life to amalgamate into one country. The problem of regionalism in Nigeria dates back to this forced amalgamation. However, Nigeria aims at destroying tribal based regionalism in several ways. One of which is the creation of more states.

野良猫の有無とその消滅過程に注目して、人間・社会の諸特質(家族形態、高齢化態様と介護形態、高齢者の孤独、猫餌の相対価格、帝国主義・植民地主義の経験とその変容、動物愛護思想、住環境、衛生意識、動物観など、従来はそれぞれ個別に認識されてきたことがら)を総合的に理解する。猫という農耕定着以降に家畜化した動物(犬と比べるなら家畜化の程度が低く、他の家畜よりも相対的に人間による介入・改変が及んでいない動物)と人との関係を、「自由猫」という概念を用いて、総合的に認識し直すことによって、新たに見えてくるであろう人間・社会の秘密を解明し、家畜人文・社会科学という新しい研究方法・領域の可能性を開拓する。

過去に開発されたエアギターシステムは,演奏者の左手に何らかの装置やセンサを持ち,ある場所が押された時に事前に割り当てられたコードの音を出すものばかりである.本研究では,左手に何も持たないエアギターシステムを提案する.ギターでの弾き語りのようなコード弾き奏法に関して,人間は音を聞かなくても左手の形を見ただけでどんなコードを押さえているのか見当がつく場合が多い.そこで,カメラを用いたエアギターシステムを提案する.左手の輪郭線,指の間のエッジを抽出した画像の特徴量を用いてギターのコード認識を行う.評価実験の結果,左手に何も持たなくても,76.3%の精度が出せるシステムが出来上がり,新しいアプリケーションの開発を行うことができた.

キリスト教の信仰に影響された特徴的な語りが長崎で生まれた。この背景には、永井隆という人物の影響があるとされる。カトリック教徒であった医学博士永井隆は1951年に病没するまでの間に旺盛な執筆活動を行い、現在も長崎の原爆の象徴として一般に語られる人物であるが、『長崎の鐘』[1949]に代表される彼の著作に見られる原爆に対する独特な思想〔燔祭説:原爆死を神への犠牲(燔祭)と捉える考え方〕は、占領軍への親和性や原爆投下責任の隠蔽、さらには長崎における原爆の記憶を発信する上での消極性につながるなどとして批判を受けてきた。しかしながら、そこでは永井の思想が与えた影響力は常に前提とされ、実際の受容状況が測られることはなかったといえる。本稿では、純心女子学園を対象に、原子爆弾による甚大な被害がどのよう語られてきたのかを考察することで、燔祭説の受容と戦後65年間にもたらされた変化を提示する。

銅酸化物高温超伝導体は,強相関系と考えられている.一方で,角度分解型光電子分光の実験によって,バンド計算と矛盾しないフェルミ面が観測されている.この二つの考え方は一見矛盾するように見えるが,強相関系では,励起エネルギーの大きさによって電子状態の特徴が本質申に異なることに注意すれば,それが解消すること,および,フェルミ面の形状をはじめとする低エネルギー励起が,強相関系に対する最も基本的なt-jモデルで記述されることがわかる.特に,現時点で重要な手がかりを与えている磁気的励起に関する実験と理論を比較することにより,ドープ量と温度の平面上での相図に対する統一的理解の可能性を探る.

Debris flow is composed of mixed-size gravel, and the grain size distribution and concentration of sediment strongly affects the flow behavior. To predict more accurate debris flows, we need a numerical model that considers mixed-size gravel and can describe sediment sorting. We propose a more accurate method for predicting mixed-size debris flow behavior, from torrents to alluvial fans. We combined a debris flow model that can describe sediment sorting with an integration model, and proposed an integrated model for mixed-size gravel. Applying this model, we simulated debris flow on a virtual watershed under different conditions of inflow sediment distribution. Our results showed that an integrated model for mixed-size gravel provide a more rational description of debris flow in torrents and alluvial fans than models of uniform-sized gravel.

The present study aimed to develop a short-form self-report measure to assess relaxation effects (S-MARE). Participants (N = 190) responded to a questionnaire comprised of 45 items assessing relaxation and non-relaxation based on the Relaxation Inventory (Crist et al., 1989). Exploratory factor analysis identified three factors: physiological tension, psychological relaxation, and anxiety. Each factor was related to 5 items and each had an acceptable Cronbach’s coefficient (α = .93, .94, and .85). S-MARE scores pre- and post- relaxation instruction were significantly correlated with the Emotional Relaxation Scale (Tokuda, 2011) (r = .446) and with State Anxiety (r = –.531) (N = 172). There was a significant correlation between the amplitude of the high frequency component of heart rate variability during relaxation instruction and physiological tension scores on the S-MARE (r = .456—.474, N = 24). These results confirmed the reliability and validity of the S-MARE in terms of physiological correlation with cardiac parasympathetic tone, suggesting that the S-MARE is a valid measure of relaxation effects.

Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas) cultivars grown in Japan are highly valued for their excellent sweetness, high quality, and good texture. The export volume of sweetpotato from Japan has been rising rapidly, with a 10-fold increase on a weight basis over the last 10 years. However, since sweetpotato is propagated vegetatively from storage roots, it is easy to cultivate and propagate this crop, prompting concerns that Japanese sweetpotato cultivars/lines are being exported overseas, cultivated without permission, or reimported. Therefore, a rapid and accurate cultivar identification methodology is needed. In this study, we comprehensively analyzed the insertion sites of Cl8 retrotransposon to develop a cultivar identification technique for the Japanese cultivars ‘Beniharuka’ and ‘Fukumurasaki’. These two cultivars were successfully distinguished from other cultivars using a minimum of two marker sets. Using the chromatographic printed array strip (C-PAS) method for DNA signal detection, ‘Beniharuka’ and ‘Fukumurasaki’ can be precisely identified using a single strip of chromatographic paper based on multiplex DNA signals derived from the amplicons of the Cl8 insertion sites. Since this method can detect DNA signals in only ~15 minutes, we expect that our method will facilitate rapid, reliable, and convenient cultivar discrimination for on-site inspection of sweetpotato.

本研究では、古代において国府と京を結んでいた七道駅路を中心として、古代物流ネットワークの形態解析と物流システムの移動利便性として移動距離や日数、運賃との関係について分析した。七道駅路ネットワークを構築した上で、本路・支路によって結ばれている国府の隣接グラフを構築した。そして、最小木と重複しない隣接グラフの辺は、地方と京をなるべく短い距離で結ぶように、放射・縦断方向に長い辺が構築されていることが明らかになった。七道駅路を用いた物流システムについて、運賃は距離と線形に比例する関係が見られ、往復日数の方が距離よりも運賃と比例関係が強いことが明らかになった。海上輸送は、陸上輸送と比べて、所要日数が少なく、運賃も大幅に低いことが明らかになった。このように、地形の起伏や広大な河川、海上輸送を含むかどうかが、移動に大きく影響していることが明らかになった。現在価値への換算すると、現代のトラック運賃と比べて、遠距離に行くほど差が広がっていることが明らかになった。このように、古代の物流においては、現代より日数、費用ともに大きくコストをかけて運ばれていたことが定量的に明らかになった。

Now that the Product Liability Law directly applies to pharmaceutical companies, their responsibility is much greater than before. Although the Product Liability Law does not directly apply to doctors and to pharmacists who are engaged in the preparation of medicines, they will indirectly but greatly be influenced by it as a result of the Product Liability Law being applied to the pharmaceutical companies.
