This paper presents experimental observations to improve typhoon prediction accuracy and to understand interactions between atmosphere and ocean directly under typhoons. Two unmanned surface vehicles (Wave Gliders (WGs)) equipped with interchangeable sensors were sailed toward the path of an approaching Category 5 typhoon (Hinnamnor), which began on 29 August 2022 and subsided on 6 September, reaching a minimum pressure of 920 hPa and a maximum wind speed of 55 m/s (105 knots). Sensors on WGs measured atmospheric pressure, wind speed, atmospheric and seawater temperature, wave height, currents, salinity, and chlorophyll-a concentrations in different parts of the typhoon. These observations made it possible to clarify changes in various phenomena as the typhoon approached and to compare differences in storm characteristics measured by the two WGs. Sea surface pressure in the core of a typhoon is useful as an initial predictor of its intensity. Data assimilation into numerical models and other observations are expected to improve prediction accuracy of typhoon phenomena. Furthermore, simultaneous observations of atmosphere and ocean will also be useful for modeling interactions.

The content tourism and “the Holy Land pilgrimage” are established as a general noun, and have been increasingly taken up by the media. This study is intended to consider about the way of regional formation clarifying the utilization of the contents. This paper took up cases which apply contents on railways in Japan, and clarified the effectiveness of regional formation. The examined cases are in the area of tourist resort, streetcar and local train. In addition, this paper took up and analyzed the cases of Kyoto city especially. Furthermore, this paper clarified the problems of regional formation by applying of contents and suggested the ways of solution considering sustainable regional formation.

おもに前期古墳から出土する底部穿孔壺は,何を目的に古墳上におかれ,どのような祭祀が行われたのか。小論は底部穿孔壺を用いた古墳祭祀を俎上にあげ,その意味の解釈を試みる。まず底部穿孔壷祭式の変遷をあとづけ,その原形が底部の打ち欠かれた少数の装飾壺が古墳上におかれるというものであることを明らかにする。次に,東アジアの稲作地帯に分布する農耕儀礼のあり方に着目し,種籾を貯蔵する壺に穀霊が宿るという信仰がさまざまな形で広く分布していることを確認する。そしてこれと同様の思想が弥生時代以降の日本列島にも存在していた可能性を考え,壺が穀霊信仰にもとづく農耕儀礼と密接な関係にある遺物であることを推測する。壺が用いられた葬送祭祀は,これを破砕もしくは穿孔することで壺に宿ると観念された穀霊を後継者へ継承することを目的とし,その被葬者は農耕司祭者としての性格をもっていたのではないかということを指摘する。

現代社会学において数理社会学の地位を確立した最大の功労者の一人であるトーマス・J・ファラロが、自らの学問的営為の集大成として『一般理論社会学の意味』をまとめあげた。本書の目的は、一般理論社会学を社会学における包括的な研究伝統として定義したうえで、そこにおいてこれまで並行的に展開してきたシステム思考、行為理論、構造主義の三つの下位伝統が現在「統―化のプロセス」にあることを指摘しつつ、そのことを生成的構造主義という構想のもとでフォーマル・モデルとして示すことにある。そのさい、ファラロの構想では、社会学の伝統的な行為理論と構造理論、ミクロ・モデルとマクロ・モデルが生成的構造主義のもとで調和的に統合される、ということになる。しかしながら、こうした構想は、行為と構造という構図のもとで社会学においてつねに問題にされてきた「循環」の問題を、ほんとうの意味で解決することにはならない。なぜなら、こうした循環の問題は、じつは従来の行為理論も構造理論もともに共有していた行為と構造の実体論パラダイムに由来しているからである。したがって、もしいま一般理論社会学がミクロとマクロの「統―化のプロセス」のただなかにあるとしても、それは従来の行為理論と構造理論の「収斂」のプロセスではなく、むしろそれらの「解体」のプロセスを意味しているはずである。ファラロの構想する生成的構造主義の問題は、根本的には、そうした認識を欠いていたところにある。

Background: Resistance exercise is beneficial in patients with lower extremity arterial disease. Muscle-derived exosomes contain many types of signaling molecules, including microRNAs (miRNAs). Here, we tested the hypothesis that exosomal miRNAs secreted by growing muscles promote an angiogenic response in endothelial cells (ECs).Methods and Results: Skeletal muscle-specific conditional Akt1 transgenic (Akt1-TG) mice, in which skeletal muscle growth can be induced were used as a model of resistance training. Remarkable skeletal muscle growth was observed in mice 2 weeks after gene activation. The protein amount in exosomes secreted by growing muscles did not differ between Akt1-TG and control mice. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway frequency analysis of 4,665 target genes, identified using an miRNA array miRNAs, revealed a significant increase in Akt and its downstream signaling pathway genes. Among the upregulated miRNAs, miR1, miR133, and miR206 were significantly upregulated in the serum of Akt1-TG mice. miR206 was also increased in insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1-stimulated hypertrophied myotubes. Exogenous supplementation of exosomal miR206 to human umbilical vein ECs promoted angiogenesis, as assessed using the spheroid assay, and increased the expression of angiogenesis-related transcripts.Conclusions: Exosomal miR206 is upregulated in the blood of Akt1-TG mice and in IGF-stimulated cultured myotubes. Exogenous supplementation of miR206 promoted an angiogenic response in ECs. Our data suggest that miR206 secreted from growing muscles acts on ECs and promotes angiogenesis.

Background: Cardiac surgery-associated (CSA) acute kidney injury (AKI) is a severe postoperative complication in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB). Early detection of postoperative CSA-AKI may be key to improving patient outcomes. This study explored the use of renal biomarkers measured immediately after surgery for the early detection of CSA-AKI in patients undergoing OPCAB.Methods and Results: In all, 111 patients who underwent OPCAB at Kumamoto University Hospital between June 2020 and October 2022 were included in this study. Urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, liver-type fatty acid-binding protein, and N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) were measured upon arrival in the intensive care unit (ICU) after surgery. AKI was diagnosed using KDIGO criteria. Of the 111 patients, 32 (28.8%) developed postoperative AKI. Regarding AKI staging, 19 (59.4%), 11 (34.4%), and 2 (6.3%) patients had Stage 1, 2, and 3 AKI, respectively. There were significant differences in chronic kidney disease, preoperative estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and NAG between the AKI and non-AKI groups. Multivariate analysis showed that preoperative eGFR (odds ratio [OR] for 5-mL/min/1.73 m2increase in eGFR 0.75; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.63–0.89) and increasing urinary NAG concentrations at ICU admission (OR 2.44; 95% CI 1.30–4.60) were significant risk factors for CSA-AKI in OPCAB patients.Conclusions: NAG and eGFR may be valuable biomarkers for the early detection of CSA-AKI in patients undergoing OPCAB.

昔から酒は百薬の長と言われる。お酒が持つ健康上の機能についてはお酒好きのみならず大変興味があるところであり, また酒類業界としても需要拡大を図る上で大きな期待がある。筆者は酒類の飲酒の比較実験の中で, 本格焼酎と泡盛には人間の血栓溶解活性を増大させる高い機能があることを明らかにした。そこでその実態を記述していただくとともに, 適正飲酒についても言及していただいた。

子どもの脳の発達障害の一因として、環境化学物質の影響が懸念されている。本研究では、リスク評価が不十分な農薬ネオニコチノイドの低用量長期曝露の影響を、発達期のラット小脳神経細胞培養を用い、遺伝子発現の変化から発達神経毒性を調べた。ニコチン、ネオニコチノイド2種を低濃度で2週間曝露した小脳培養のmRNAをDNAマイクロアレイで解析し統計処理した結果、複数の遺伝子で1.5倍以上の有意な発現変動を確認した。3種の処理で共通に変動した遺伝子には、シナプス形成に重要なカルシウムチャネルやG蛋白質共役受容体などが含まれており、ネオニコチノイドはニコチン同様に子どもの脳発達に悪影響を及ぼす可能性が確認された。

Currently, as measures against environmental destruction, an agricultural method called synecocultureTM has been received attention. However, since multiple types of plants grow densely in this method, conventional machines and robots can't intervene. Therefore, work efficiency is low. To improve work efficiency, we developed a robot with a wheel and linear mechanism. The wheel mechanism can move on uneven terrain, and the linear mechanism with two orthogonal axes can adjust tool position during task. In the field experiment, the robot moved on the field, and succeeded in harvesting and weeding by operating the linear mechanism based on the camera image.

背景:病院前救護での小児への救命処置は,地域メディカルコントロール協議会(以下,MCと略す)ごとに業務プロトコールが定められている。目的・方法:小児への静脈路確保と薬剤投与の基準の調査のため,全国767消防本部の救急責任者にメールでウェブアンケートを実施した。結果:アンケート回収率は87.5%。適応年齢は,静脈路確保で「規定なし」56%,薬剤投与で「8歳以上」82%が最多であった。小児を処置の対象と回答したものの,1割の消防本部では小児には不適切な太い留置針のみが配備されていた。複数の消防本部が所属するMCのうち,静脈路確保は60%,薬剤投与は24%で年齢基準が統一されていなかった。救命救急センターが少ない地域では,8割以上が小児を薬剤投与の適応としていた。小児CPR教育への充足度は低いが需要は高かった。結論:事後検証を行う体制の整備,地域に合った年齢基準の策定と徹底,基準にあった装備と教育が必要である。

チーム・リーダーのリーダーシップ,シェアド・リーダーシップおよびチーム業績の関係を実証した.その結果,チーム・リーダーの変革型およびGK型リーダーシップのどちらもシェアド・リーダーシップに正の影響を及ぼすが,後者の方がその影響が強いことが分かった.また,シェアド・リーダーシップはチーム業績に正の影響を及ぼすが,その影響力は,チームが取り組んでいるタスク不確実性が高い方が強まることが分かった.

これまで漢字の書字障害に対して,視覚認知障害,視覚認知障害と想起障害,漢字をまとまりとして学習する方略の欠如,視覚情報の保持障害など,さまざまな仮説が提案されてきた。これらの障害仮説に合致しない漢字の書字障害を呈した児童の障害機序を検討した。漢字の親密度を統制し,漢字の「要素」が他の漢字に含まれる共有性を操作した書字課題を実施した。その結果,木偏など「要素」を共有する漢字が多いほど修正を繰り返すことが確認された。このことから,本児の書字障害の背景には,漢字の「要素」の共有性によって形態情報の競合が生じることで保持と処理が困難になる正書法ワーキングメモリ―の弱さが疑われた。漢字の形態情報を共有する他の漢字の多さによって生じる干渉が,正書法ワーキングメモリ―の処理負荷に影響した結果,漢字に特異的な書字障害が生じた可能性がある。
