This study, based on a questionnaire for students who had completed elementary school education, investigated the relation between their level of cooking knowledge and ability of menu planning learned in homemaking education. The result is that the level of students' cooking knowledge are related not to their nutrition assessment but to their favorite assessment.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of well-rounded exercise program (WREP) on cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength, flexibility, body composition, and serum lipid concentration in a group of older outpatients. WREP was composed of programmed aerobic/anaerobic accommodating circuit exercise (PACE) and flexibility exercises Twenty-two volunteers (69.6±3.2yr) were used as subjects All participants engaged in a supervised exercise program (50min/day and 3 days/week) for 12 weeks After 12 weeks of training, there was a significant increase in V0_2 corresponding to lactate threshold (13.4%) but peak VO_2 did not change. There were significant increases for knee extension (17.1%) and flexion (12.3%), chest pull (10.9%), low back flexion (26.6%), and shoulder press (14.6%) after training. Side stepping agility (13%), trunk flexion (129%) and trunk extension (19%) were also significantly improved. There were significant decreases in percent of body fat (-8.3%), total cholesterol (-7.1%) and low-density hpoprotein cholesterol (-9.7%) Blood pressure also decreased in SBP (-1OmmHg) and DBP (-5mmHg) The decline in SBP was significant in thirteen hypertensive patients (-14mmHg) compared to non-hypertensive patients (-5mmHg) These results indicate that WREP elicits significant improvement of overall fitness in older outpatients (Jpn J Phys Fitness Sports Med 2003, 52 : 513~524)

Diatom biostratigraphy was re-examined for the Miocene marine sequence distributed along the Arakawa River in the northern part of the Hiki Hills area, central Japan. Thirteen out of 24 collected samples yielded age diagnostic diatom fossils, which are restricted between diatom biohorizons D41 (15.7Ma) and D41.5 (15.6Ma) in the lower Denticulopsis lauta Zone (NPD 4A). A thin conglomerate layer, which is previously presumed as an unconformably overlying basal conglomerate, is sandwiched between the last occurrence (LO) biohorizon of D. praelauta (D41:15.7Ma) and first occurrence (FO) of D. ichikawae. As the maximal duration between these two biohorizons is estimated as about 20, 000 yr., it is concluded that there is no unconformity along the studied section. Temporal change in the diatom assemblage suggests a transgression in the examined interval.

Body care motions apply a large amount of stress on caregivers' muscles and spines, so most of them suffer from low back pain. One of the major factors of low back pain is the low back muscular load to keep the deep flexion posture. This study concerned development of a suit-type back muscle supporter named "the care suit," which reduces low back load. Elastic fiber belts (support lines) are arranged on the back and leg parts of the suit. The support lines are relaxed so as not to interfere with daily trunk motion, arm motion, walking, and sitting motion, but to exert tensile force and extension moment in the deep flexion posture. The care suit is a two-piece design to improve comfort and convenience. To optimize the layout of the support lines we developed a small reel-type device to measure body surface deformation. As the result of measurement by this device and a system for posture measurement during several motions, the back support lines are arranged in an x-shape from the side neck point to the point internally dividing the Jacoby-line at a ratio of 1 to 2. The leg support lines branch at the rear face of the thigh and are attached to the apex of the patella. The maximum tension of support lines is limited by the user's shoulder pain to 140 N for males and 85 N for females. The effect of the care suit was evaluated by electromyograms of back muscles. The action potential in the deep flexion posture was 25% decreased. In comparison with the conventional corset, the effect of the care suit for back muscle was equal, but the care suit is superior in that it does not interfere with flexion motion. The lumbar joint muscular moment during a diaper change operation was calculated from body posture through a rigid body link model. The results of this calculation showed that the stored load during the operation was decreased by 30% by the care suit. Furthermore the summation of intervertebral disk compressive force was reduced by 15% during the operation. Therefore the care suit is effective for reduction of not only continuous muscular load but also spinal load. Practical use by caregivers also resulted in good evaluations as it reduced continuous muscle load for a diaper change operation, bed making operation, etc. Conclusively, the low back load during body care motions can be reduced by the care suit developed in this research. This care suit is under patent application.

鳥取県の山間部に居住する92歳の一人暮らしの男性が急性E型肝炎を発症した.患者には海外渡航歴や輸血歴はなく,発症前3カ月以内の豚レバーやホルモン,猪や鹿などの動物の肉や内臓の喫食歴,魚介類の生食の既往も無かった.しかし,7~8年前から猪胆(乾燥した猪の胆囊)を猟師より入手し,胆囊粉末を冷水に溶き,その胆汁液を生薬として飲用していたことが判明した.飲み残しの胆汁液はなかったが,保管されていた猪胆18個中7個からHEV RNAが検出され,患者から分離された3a型HEVと塩基配列が99.8%一致するHEVが同定された.加えて,リン酸緩衝液で溶出した10%胆汁液のHEV RNAタイターが4.6×105 copies/mlに達するものもあり,猪胆からの感染が強く疑われた.猪の肉やレバーの喫食後のE型肝炎症例はこれまでに多く報告されているが,猪胆が感染源と考えられる症例の報告は今回が初めてである.

本研究は, 雲仙普賢岳の火山災害における被災者用の応急仮設住宅の建設, 環境改善, 解体に至るまでの経緯を調査し, 災害救助法に基づく被災者用の応急住宅対策の課題を明らかにする. さらに, 応急仮設住宅入居経験者に対して実施したアンケート調査をもとに, 住環境, 周辺環境, 精神衛生対策などについて分析し, 長期災害時の住環境管理めあり方を議論する.More than ten thousands inhabitants were obligated to stay places of refuse for a long time without their ordinary works during volcanic eruption of Mt. Fugen in Unzen. 1455 temporary dwellings were built to give relief to the suffers. The disaster relief law was stretched to cope with the size of family in this area. Living environment of the dwelling was improved and disaster mental health was checked to support evacuees living in the temporary dwelling for a long time. In the present paper, management on living environment of temporary dwellings is studied by reports and questionnaire survey and compared with the case of earthquake disasters.

This paper analyzes causative suffix in the Horobetsu dialect of Ainu. In the dialect, causative construction correlates with switch-reference. In the coordinate clause, causative construction may function as a different-subject marker. In the subordinate clause, causative construction may function as a same-subject marker.

1998年台湾北部(台北および淡水地区)において, ネコ免疫不全ウイルス(FIV)に対する疫学調査を行った. 調査したネコ32匹の内, 7匹(21.9%)が抗FIV抗体陽性であった. このうち3匹からFIVの分離に成功した. エンベロープ遺伝子のV3-V5領域の塩基配列を決定し, 系統発生の解析を行ったところ, これらの分離株はすべてサブタイプCであることが判明した. 今回の結果と我々の以前の報告(稲田ら, 1997年, Arch. Virol. 142: 1459-1467)から, 台湾北部ではサブタイプCのFIVが流行していると考えられた.

呼吸筋トレーニングの効果的な負荷圧に関する臨床研究は非常に少ない。本研究の目的は,呼気筋および吸気筋トレーニングの効果的な負荷圧を検討することである。健康な短大生36名(男性15名,女性21名;平均年齢±SD:21.4±2.7歳)を対象にした。呼吸筋力測定のみを行う対照群と最大呼気口腔内圧の20%および40%で呼気筋トレーニングを行う群(20%呼気筋トレーニング群,40%呼気筋トレーニング群),最大吸気口腔内圧の20%および40%で吸気筋トレーニングを行う群(20%吸気筋トレーニング群,40%吸気筋トレーニング群)の5群で検討を行った。各トレーニング群ではそれぞれの負荷圧でThreshold^<TM>を用い,1日2回15分ずつトレーニングを4週間継続させ,トレーニング前,1,2,3,4週後に呼吸機能,呼吸筋力を測定した。その結果,呼気筋トレーニングでは,20%呼気筋トレーニング群および40%呼気筋トレーニング群において2週間後から有意に呼気筋力が増加した。吸気筋トレーニングでは,20%吸気筋トレーニング群および40%吸気筋トレーニング群ともに3週間後から有意に吸気筋力が増加した。以上の結果は,呼気筋,吸気筋トレーニングともに,それぞれの20%最大口腔内圧が,健常若年者に対する呼吸筋トレーニングの効果的な負荷圧として十分であることを示唆している。

大規模ソフトウェアシステムを対象とするバグ原因解析自動化方式及びこれに基づく試作経験について述べる。大規模ソフトウェアの運用開始後のバグ原因解析は,その開発に従事した熟練者の知識に依存しているのが現状である。運用サービス中に発生したバグの原因解析のための情報としては,システムが内部矛盾を検出した時点で出力されるメモリ情報のダンプリストが与えられる。その解析の手順はシステムを構成するプログラムのデータ領域の内容から実行の経過や矛盾を生じた原因を推定するものである。この手順のうち,データ内容の検索と値のチェックについては機械化による高速かつ網羅度の高い作業が可能と考えられる。ここでは,プログラム中で使用するデータ構造に対して与えられたデータチェック条件を用いて,バグ発生時,あるいはバグ再現時のメモリ内容を自動チェックする方式について提案し,この方式の試作システムCHASE (CHecking and Analyzing System for program Errors)について述べる。はじめに既存のテストデバッグ自動化方式で採られてきたソースコードへのチェック条件挿入法(アサーション)を大規模システムへ適用する場合の問題点と我々の採った解決法について述べる。次に,チェック条件の記述方法とこれを基にしたデータ診断の実現方法について述べる。更に,チェック対象とするメモリ情報の収集方法を示し,このうちの1つであるバグ再現時の実行履歴の圧縮方法について述べる。最後に,試作したCHASEを2つのコンパイラのバグ解析に適用した結果について述べる。

[目的] ATP感受性心房頻拍(Iesaka AT)の電気生理学的特性について検討した.<BR>[方法] EPSでATP感受性心房頻拍と診断した10症例(年齢69±21歳, 男性5名, 女性5名). ATP(5mg)急速静注によるAT停止直前のAT-CL延長の程度と, AT中の最早期興奮部位の電位のfragmentationの有無を検討した.<BR>[結果] (1)最早期興奮部位での心房電位が明らかなfragmentationを示した症例は5例〔frag(+)群〕, そうでなかった症例は5例〔frag(−)群〕であった. (2)すべての症例で, ATP静注後, AT-CLが延長して頻拍を呈したが, 停止直前のAT-CL延長の程度は, frag(+)群の方が, frag(−)群に比し軽度であった(11.2±12.8 vs 38.6±16.1ms, p<0.01). (3)頻拍中の3D-Electro Anatomical Mappingを5例で行った〔3例がfrag(+)群, 2例がfrag(−)群〕. frag(+)群では, 最早期興奮部位近傍にlow voltage zoneが認められ, これに一致して伝導遅延が認められた. 一方, frag(−)群ではこれらの所見を認めなかった.<BR>[結語] ATP感受性ATは, 最早期興奮部位でのfragmentationの有無によりATPによる停止様式が異なり, 2つのカテゴリーに分類できる可能性が示唆された.

本研究では、資料画像にテキスト情報を付与し、画像から文字あるいは単語等のテキストデータを検索できるようなシステム(「アノテーション付与型画像データベースシステム」)について、さまざまな人文学資料を共通の枠組で扱うことを可能にするために、共通のユーザインターフェイスと標準的なデータ構造モデルを作成し、汎用データベースプラットフォームシステムを構築した。本研究ではこのプラットフォームを利用し、古代エジプト語神官文字パピルス資料、明治期日本語文典資料、古代シュメール・アッカド語楔形文字年度版資料のデータベースを構築した。

「こどものじかん・りべろ」でミキちゃんが家以外ではじめてオシッコしたこと,マユちゃんが大声を出して泣くようになったこと,「ウレシパ共同作業所」でケースケ君が甘えるようになったこと,これら3名の子どもたちとのかかわりを通して,「のびのび」こそ,子どもにとって最も大切な育ち・育ての条件と思われることを述べた。常識的に困ったとされる行動であったとしても,大人から見た善し悪しで子どもの行動を性急に評価し規制するのではなく,その行動を今を生きる姿としてあるがままに受け止め,その行動を通して交わることが重要であることを述べ,また,実際の過程は多くの迷い,躓き,悔悟,感動,腹立ちを含むなまなましいものであることにふれた。
